any one else noticing low signal bars on 4.2.2 .where I normally had 3 bars on 4.0.3 to 4.1.2 I now have 1 bar call quality is ok but most times I have no signal and whenever I make a call and hang up I cannot make a call immediately after I have to wait about 30 seconds or more or the call fails ..I have tried numerous kernels and its the same thing so it seems to be 4.2.2 based.

From what I've seen it is a bug in 4.2.2 that you have to wait to place another call or it fails. Personally what i would do is I would take note of the dBm in the current rom, and the previous ROM, which I am assuming is stock, to see if the way the Roms measure the bars differently. I just like flashing and playing around with my phone, so other people might see this as unnecessary to do that To check out the dBm Go to settings>about phone>status and take note of the signal strength in dBm.

Edit: Updated my radios, still having issues. More info in a thread below.
Hey all,
I recently started running leNoob CM9 mod, and I've noticed that my connection has bottomed out a bit. I normally would have 4-5 bars with little issue, now I'm lucky to have 1 or 2. I dropped a call earlier today, and I haven't had that happen in literal years.
Poking around I noticed there were radio versions better than what I'm currently using: (1.22.10.0421r, 1.22.10.0424r) but I'm completely unsure whether that's the problem here, or how to update them if it is.
I'm S-OFF, if that helps the solutions any.
Thanks for your time!
See the firmware thread in the dev section, you can update just your firmware/radios/etc and not have to run a RUU since you're s-off.

Yes, you can flash the hboot/radio combo by superchilpil, then flash a hacked hboot. Apophis has a thread with hex edited hboots.

I was going to make another thread for this, but hey, I saw this one I made a few days ago and it came in handy.
Since the last time I posted I did the firmware upgrade to the 2.xx radios, but that sadly did not help my issues any. My data connection will randomly drop in any situation; indoors, outdoors, whatever. I can flip my phone to airplane mode and back to restore the data connection, and it usually instantly hits 4-5 bar 4G. Unfortunately, not long after that it'll drop to 1 bar and sometimes stabilize back up to 4-5 and stay there for awhile.
Other times, it'll drop to 3G, 1x, or turn off altogether. 95% of the time it will then just stay off until I reboot the phone or hit airplane mode. The rest of the time it'll come back into 3G or more commonly 1x and stay there until it repeats the above drop process.
I've had this problem on all of the CM9 mods I've tried (currently running Rage 1.2). I've tried various network modes but I've had the greatest success of getting any signal on the LTE/CDMA/EvDo/GSM/WCDMA setting; the LTE or CDMA / LTE only ever gets 1 bar ever, and never improves.
Before CM9 on Stock ICS I had 4-5 bars anywhere in my house, and even at work (the center of a very large building) I'd still have 2-3 bars and rock solid data connection. I have not yet tried going back to Stock to see if that fixes my issues, but I'm leaning that way unless anyone has some better options here.

I've also been seeing the exact same issue with my signal but since flashing the Global RUU and Rage. Previously I was on older radios and NeoMax and had high performance on the signals and battery life. Battery life has also dropped significantly since the Global RUU and Rage. :/

In Rage 1.2 at least, my screen-off battery life is almost bulletproof. 8 hours not on the charger and it only lost 3%. Screen-on time though is almost exactly the same as Stock, and that includes going to the Wheatley governor, sio, underclocking the CPU and cranking the screen brightness way down.
As far as the radio issue goes, somewhere in the Rage thread Neo mentioned that radios on AOSP roms atm are hit and miss; some people have no problems, some people have constant problems. Currently there's really nothing they can do about it IIRC, and we'll basically just have to wait until someone can pin down the problem. Either that or go back to a Sense based rom, to which I say, phooey!
Try flashing a ruu then doing a factory reset in hboot after before restoring recovery. Worked for me

Factory reset only wipes data....
And an ruu likely won't flash if it is corrupted.
Just check md5 anyway, as always.

The signal on the signal bar? If that's it it isn't really dropping completely, unless it shows No Service. AOSP just measures and show the signal differently than Touchwiz.

Well it does drop. Because signal bars becomes empty (if that makes sense). If I try to go to a webpage while it's like that, it cant load the page. Mind you, the signal comes back in 5-10 seconds or so, so it's not a huge deal. Just curious if there is a fix by chance or something I'm just missing.

My phone rarely show the service correctly in the Notification Bar (very low 4G signal and it doesn't show up but works perfectly), the accepted way to measure your signal in in About Phone/Status.
It sounds like you just have spotty coverage or low coverage and it becomes a little worse on AOSP.
No matter how many times it is said that AOSP reads/displays the signal differently for me it is actually a little worse on AOSP. When I say worse I usually have 3 bars of 4G and full 3G, no out of service time, and the measurements in the About Phone/Status menu are generally a bit better on TW. With AOSP I have 1 bar of 4G and 2 of 3G, 10-15% out of service time, and lower readings in the menu.

Bars are not a good judge of signal, and it will appear lower on all AOSP ROMs for whatever reason Sense inflated the actual level... best bet is to try Network Signal Strength or a similar tool and see what your actual dBm signal level is, in mine it almost identical to when Stock, but then again you would have to have a pre and post ROMing level or a second phone to really see if there is any difference.
Are you actually having problems with signal or just the bars? If so, check the usual suspects like the back not on tight. Some people have reported wiping and reflashing with TWRP (NOT Amon Ra) makes a difference as well. FWIW, when I first went with a CM based ROM I thought things were very laggy and slow, but after a day or two it got much better, I did a battery pull reset as well, don't know if that really made any difference but it couldn't hurt.

Hmmm... I have not had that issue. What does Network Signal Info show for a signal strength?
Are you connected via 4G? Did you try toggling in and out of Airplane mode? What radios are you running?

You don't need a separate app for that.
System Settings, About Phone, Status, the current signal strength is shown. You can also change the status bar to always show it under System Settings, System, Status Bar settings.

Odd, you didn't flash any nightlies or anything afterward? Anyway, good to hear it's working now.
I have noticed after running multiple android 4.3 ROMs on my DNA that wifi/data isn't always working properly. It will be really slow or the conection is really spotty. I have also used stock and non-standard kernels. (crpalmer for AOSP for non standard) It doesn't matter what ROM I run either. I have had issues with Carbon, PA, and others. Rootbox hasn't updated to 4.3 yet here are no issues there. Is anyone else running into this or is it some stupid error on my part.
I am having these issues too. I have been running 4.3 for about 36 hours and in that time my WiFi, data, and signal has been horrible. I just figured it was the tower because I live on a area with bad signal and the towers often completely bug out.

It isn't the towner because I get kind of crappy signal at home, but at work I get full bars. Also the issue isn't restricted to just mobile data. I have issues with wifi as well. My home connection never drops below 30mbps and at work we have unrestricted fiber so it doesn't go below 90mbps so it isn't a speed issue. Sometimes if I am connected to wifi and it doesn't work right I will toggle and it won't reconnect. Then I toggle airplane mode and it will reconnect. Mainly it just hangs during downloads and loading pages and things and it's pretty annoying. Sometimes I will get a timeout error or it will take Google Music upwards of 2 minutes to start streaming a song on a good LTE signal.

I just installed the latest CM 10.2 on my DNA a few hours ago and so far everything is working buttery smooth, even on the stock kernel. Coming from ViperDNA 1.3.5. So far WiFi, MMS, SMS, in-call volume are all spot on. As far as the WiFi is concerned I remember reading somewhere that with JB 4.2 and above certain wireless routers were unsupported. I wish I could remember where I read that and provide a link but it was months ago. As far as data is concerned I have no clue what may be going on. Are you a GSM user or Verizon Wireless?

No problems here on CM10.2 regarding WiFi.
I've had trouble with WiFi strength and staying connected on a plethora of AOSP ROMs and kernels that I have used over the past fee months. Switched to a Sense 5 ROM yesterday and my signal strength and ability to stay connected is much better.
I'm on the official 10.2 and haven't had any problems with wifi but have noticed some dropped data connections and then have difficulties reconnecting. Normally turning off and on data fixes it.
I've been using crplamer's kernel and I haven't noticed data problems with cm10.2

You should try another modem.
In one of the posts in this forum, I have even read that if the battery is really old then it doesnt pass enough energy/charge to hold the signal. You could try with another battery if yours is quite old.
