Haven't tried hd video yet but photos are okay provided you have enough light in the environment. Indoor photos aren't that good but outdoors with plenty of sunlight looks good detail wise for a smart phone.

Best camera phone I have owned. Iphone is a close second. Could be the firmware.

Seriously there are posts with excellent pictures and videos . Try a factory reset .

Fuzzy yellow bars
I tried taking a picture of a document I had and I saw that there were fuzzy yellow bars on the picture.
Can anyone see if I happens to them too? I tried taking a picture of a white piece of paper under fluorescent light.

There must be something wrong with your phone mate.
Can't agree on any of those points with you.
The only niggle I found was in the audio capture which suffers from severe clipping under very loud conditions (Rock Concert recording Fail!). My friend's iPhone4 did a much better job with the audio.
However, the GSII offers better video detail without artifacts and less severe noise reduction (Both under low light & bright conditions). The photographs offer no cause for complaints either!

Need your quicke help, is my camera defect? check my pics....

hello guys, i need to know for sure if my camera is defect or not since i need to exchange it by monday.
the pics are attached.
i have taken the pics with and without night mode. the ones taken with night mode are much brighter and have much more severe flare.
is that normal?
Its all good.

Totally normal.

Nightmode increases the iso hence the lighter pictures. You should notice either more noise in the picture or loss in sharpness as the built in noise reduction kicks in. The flare you see is lenses flare from the bright light sources in the picture and us a result of the increase in iso. Its all basic photography stuff, and no your cameras not buffered.
Better quality cameras and lenses can reduce it to some extent but mobile and compact cameras are very limited which us why people pay thousands for dslr's cameras and even more for quality lenses.

how can u say, daytime pics are great, video too. but night and low light is not as good though. u know any other better camera on the market?
Camera lens might be broken
My camera suddenly had problems with focusing and the pictures were terrible/not as good as they used to. Inspecting the camera lens closely did not reveal anything odd.
When I disassembled the back of my phone (removed the battery cover, removed the screws and gently took apart the back of the phone housing) I still could not see anything wrong with my camera lens/cover. The lens/cover is part of the back of the phone housing.
However, then I held the lens/cover up against a really bright light and looked through the lens/cover, I discovered that there are several layers in this lens/cover and that one of them had cracks (looked like a snowflake). It was impossible to see this without disassembling the phone housing and holding the cover up against a bright light looking though it.
Trying to take a picture without the cover everything was perfect. Ordered a new phone housing from ebay the same day...
Your pictures seems to have the same characteristics as mine; not focused and a bit blurry. Try to remove the back of your phone housing and see if that helps. If it does; order a new phone housing.

Wow, that's quite obvious too.
Haven't seen this red dot in any of my pics so think it must be a hardware fault...

A camera that only works properly in daylight is a terrible camera, regardless of how good the daytime photos are. Tbh I'm just a bit mad about the night video focus crap.
btw, with the old rom my lens was moving out hitting the glass making a clicking noise, xxkg1 (XEF)
now updated official poland version
and there is no clicking? is that normal?
Also, with the new version (Poland) that has no cliicking, when i change the scene to text (i guess its macro in english) i do get a small clicking sound again - the lens moving against the glass.

[Q] Really bad Picture Quality

Hey,
Suddenly after i have the SGSII for about a year and a half i've noticed a bad the picture quality is.
The settings are all on max (8MP etc.) And it's still quite ugly.
Here's the first 2 pictures i took with my SGSII:
As you can see it's pretty sharp, smooth and in high quality, for Far and Close objects.
These are 2 photos i took now:
Can hardly focus correctly, and even when it is, the quality is just Bad.
Does it look to you like Hardware or Software problem?
What can i do to take HD Photos in a good quality?
Thanks!

Ok, hard to say as I can see no pictures in your post.
Maybe it is a software issue.
Check if you have installed the latest camera firmware from Samsung. I think there is a camera update app in Samsung Apps for SGS2.
It could also be a hardware issue, e.g. a scratched camera cover. Have a look at the lens cover on the back of your phone.
Mine is scratched in the upper left corner as I never used any kind of protection.
As consequence, the quality of the pictures may become worse.

[Q] Poor quality on videos and pictures --- Very grainy

Hi.
I have a Galaxy S II and i noticed that the camera quality of my phone is very poor. Both pictures and videos are very grainy and have a poor definition. The grain are the main problem.
Indoors the quality is very bad, especially at night. I know that in low light none camera is fine, but comparing with other GSII cameras, mine is horrible.
I already tried to set ISO settings, downloaded another camera apps and none worked.
I have Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread.
So i have a few questions:
1) What could make this grain appear?
2)Would a full wipe solve this problem?
3) Or updating to ICS is the way to fix it? Any suggestions?
Thank you for your attention.
Same here. In very well lighted areas or daylight it looks like system camera but low lights or night its worse than disposable 0.3mp camera

Beware.... I had excellent photo quality on my gs2 before submitting it to authorised Samsung service center for m/b replacement. Now after tthat, the camera is taking grainy sh***y pics n videos. I suspect they have replaced my good camera with some substandard camera hardware.
So think twice before submitting it to service center. You may end up with another problem on ur s2... :crying:

Possible If You Live in India...
And OP If Your Phone is in Warranty take it to Samsung Care if not do the following steps...
Open Back Panel
Remove Battery
Open Screws
Now DeAssemble the Back Body
Insert Battery Without Back Body
Turn in Your Device
Open Camera & Check if Quality is Better
If yes then You will need to Change the Back Body (it has unattachable camera cover)
Or
Just Look if There are Scratches on Your Camera..

the built-in camero of OOS. For me it's good enough.
Acc to me front camera is betrer than most of the phones
I believe ,my friends, and all who have seen my phone,
Says tht its front camera is second to none.
To be honest i feel the front cameea to be the best of all the phones i have seen.
Oos camera is pretty good with face beauty and it works perfectly.
Normal images are clear to .
And if u want to buy this phone becoz of the camera ,then i shall remind u . it give perfect shot for selfies!! ??
I've seen people complaining that this front camera gave too much distortion comparing to other device. Honesty, I don't have comparison point and I don't use it....

Higher Bitrate / FPS on messenger apps

Greetings from Moldova, comrades.
There's an issue bothering me for a couple of months so far... I have an Redmi 4X with very high and good quality cameras, both - front and rear. I get awesome pictures and a very stable video record... but when it comes to Viber, Google Duo and Whatsapp.... the camera they use ( the chromatics ) offer a very poor quality, with a very low bitrate and FPS... lagging and so on.
Could you please explain to me what codecs/ drivers / files do these apps use in order to manipulate the camera? Is there a way to give them the same quality I get with the stock camera? The image is very blurred and laggy....just excatly like the viewfinder of the Photo-Stock-Camera.
please advice me where to put an eye on and where to start digging in order to higher the quality of the video calls for these sensors?
As a tip:
The quality of the image during the viewfinder is opened is exactly the same as the video call using any of the messenger apps. But if I turn of the Noise Reduction in the settings of the Stock Camera, the viewfinder gives a very brilliant clear image. The second problem is the low fps of the viewfinder during low light, but it reffers only to the photo camera. When I switch to the video camera, even the viewfinder has a high FPS.
A guy from the russian forum told me that video/photo viewfinders use different chromatics. What does this mean? How to make them identic?
Why isn't anybody touching this subject? Is this a mistery or a fact that is kept in secret? I am trying to ask this thing for 2 months already and each time the forum users keep ignoring this or telling me I am using the wrong thread or stuff like this.
My question is simple! What is the way an app connects to the sensor and what driver it uses? Why the quality differs from the global camera?

I think you're a little bit pissed off ?.Take some time to relax .
The bad quality during video calls is caused by a poor internet connection.
If you were talking about the video quality when you aren't calling , I can't do anything for you .
Have a good day ( or night )

The bad quality in the same room with another phone with good quality means the phone is related to the problem. First of all Noise reduction isn't turned off like to the stock camera app secondly the bitrate is very low comapring to a Samsung phone with lower CPU and RAM . And it's not the camera sensor that is cheap ( it shoots perfect video and photos even in LOW light ( especially with the API2 camera ON ) I am thankful someone answered lol will still be hoping someone knows how to modify the setting of the camera for a video app. There is something in Android that tells these apps how to use the camera

There is more than this. I am sure there are developers here who understand what I mean, but I guess it is more a policy of the brands. Camera quality is lowered in the code of the ROMs. I am just asking how.
No problem, I will wait until a "good''guy will decide to be open.
