FLASH on mini & mini pro ! Release by Adobe ! - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Hi !
I've read that Qualcomm and Adobe will work together to release a Flash player version compatible with our processor (MSM7x27) !
http://www.prnewswire.com/news-rele...nabled-smartphones-and-tablets-122931303.html -> English
http://www.frandroid.com/actualites...seurs-qualcomm-snapdragon-msm7x27-et-msm8x55/ -> French

It sounds good, but they sure picked this up since they want to steal the show since flash lite has been released.
Oh well, atleast we get a better and stable version.

EDIT: I'm crazy Qualcomm's MSM7x27 it's the family of our processor sorry , so good news

That's... pretty damn awesome actually... Good call on Qualcomm and Adobe's part, looking forward to this.
http://developer.qualcomm.com/dev/chips/msm7x27-chipset-family
That's the website of the MSM7x27 chipset if anyone wants to check it out.

Does that mean flash browsing in the summertime? I surely hope so! Great news

Finally, it was only a matter of time before we heard this news, Would certinly make the web experience feel more complete

When will this exactly happen and how will we know about it? Will we still have to install it through a SEUS update?

This is gettin' good

Wow, they even list our X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro devices! I hope this comes alive very soon! They seem not to give this a date... Days ago the XDA Developers were saying it will never happen, now look!

so it means, there is a change to get an official upgrade from SE . maybe -____-

I think the highest we can hope for is a build update to make the flash capability adaptable. We really do not need further updates as we will have both flash and multitouch. What more can you want really.

Yes, but not with Gingerbread. The curent custom GB roms don't have full 5MP support.

Am I missing something? Since when does x10 mini pro has flash features? Unless you're talking about flashlite which is not for browsers.

Read the article on the first post, Adobe seems to have change of hearts and wants to make a flash compatible with our devices.

Sorry mate, read your post wrong! "We really do not need further updates as we WILL have" .... well, somehow I didn't see that "will" and the sentence made a totally different meaning. I should probably go to sleep and stop posting at 5 a.m. . I hate exam periods...

so our phone will be so cool than iphone.

Definately. Simply AWESOME!!!

X10 mini 2.3 update

Now that the latest mini's are announced with 2.3 it should be that much easier for SE to release 2.3 update for older mini's. Plus they are also on board with the latest Andriod update policy, anyway to remind this fact i started a thread in fb se fan page which is guaranteed to bring their attention.

I don't think so.
I suppose it apply just for "new" phones, not "old" ones
Doubt it: knowing Sony , theyll just say the original X10 mini never existed.

hope this updated coming through
they will not update it the new mini and the new pro are completely different then the old mini and the old pro screen size ARM family and that ****
they will not make an update for old mini and pro coz the new mini and pro are realeased
We still have to write the official site!
While I would very much like an oficial update, it just wouldn't make any sense for a commercial point of view, even if the new Mini line was the same hardware, they want to sell more phones, not rehash old ones.
I think that SE never release Android 2.3 for old mini/mini pro... I' m owner of mini pro and I just rooted and used MiniCM v7 what's Android 2.3 and it's much better than SE ever can release

Are you sure? Because until nobodyatAll fixes it, Your Mini Pro won't be able to use the 5MP Camera or VGA Recording, things that would be working perfectly on a stock SE 2.3 ROM.

What are the realistic factors limiting them in making an update for our Mini/MP's?
I understand that the hardware specs are different, but they both possess the same functionality and run the same features. If they're making the update for the x10, surely it wouldn't be too great a leap in tweaking it to release on a device thats pretty much exactly the same? I'm not a developer, but it just sounds like a cop out.
I understand that it is almost impossible that SE upgrades old minis.
But, as long as the new minis have android 2.3, I'm sure that it would be easier to develop a custom ROM based on that one.
Let's hope it's stable.
Yes but why? They're just a smaller version of the same phone but with slightly less impressive specs i.e. the x10 has a 1ghz processor, whilst the mini/MP has a 600mhz processor, which has been overclocked comfortably by a lot of guys here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075320
There is no realistic factor limiting them, its probably just their marketing department.

AFAIK, kernel will not be updated.
1,2,3,5,7,8 would be great And a good music player. The one in SE roms is crap tbh.
KalleD (SE engineer) already confirmed here @ XDA that the kernel won't be updated.
The rest are probably just rumours, besides we've all seen the alpha and most if not all of those things weren't there either.

number 8 means camera on at (almost) all times = battery drain. i would look for a way to kill this facility IF it was real.

Camera is on as much times as you unlock your phone. All "cool" and "fancy" features are most likely battery drain. You wont get anything "for free".
And yes most likely you will have option to disable it.

Visidon app lock plus got the same feature and still beta, yet works ok on Neo V.Sometimes kinda annoying tho, specially at night without any light. So if Sony add this feature I too really hope they will add a Off face unlock option somewhere in settings.
Anyway completely off-topic,but wonder if Sony will give out the 2.3.7 update for 2011 xperia series before ICS release.

2.3.7 is impossible at them moment
That would be like giving us Vista SP2/3 after the release of the Windows 7 source code
Stupid example ^ But kinda proves my point
What a nice talk here ^^, and indeed the camera doesnt work sometime because its a alpha a.k.a. Beta, but its would be nice if it work on 4.0. And no battery drain i think because they say: better battery life, but we shall see
i hope will stable nearly , cant wait ics on my x10i

XPERIA S and Windows 8

So, as our Xperia S is ARM based I thought it would be great to port Windows 8 to Xperia S. It would look great on SONY's HD screen, and all those colorfull Windows 8 tabs would look just fantastic. Let's think of it, and do something.
wouldn't this be so fricking hard to port?
Sent with my Sony Xperia S using a little bit of KA magic.
pretty much impossible since windows is closed source so therefore finding a way to get hardware working is beyond possible.
if you wanted a windows phone you should of brought one , if you want an android phone to look like a windows phone then download W7 Launcher ;0
NO!
You see, android is not that smooth on this phone, it usually hangs, and design is not as good as it should be, I'm SE fan since childhood so I wont by any other phone, but SONY users must have easy choice what OS to install on the phone
Short answer: no. The internals of WinRT are closer to desktop and WinMo8 is very, very hardware dependant. This means that getting any hardware support on that without Microsoft is going to be very, very, EXTREMELY hard.
But, you must admit, that Win8 or Win7 would look great on XS ))) Just imagine it, I'm not fan of Windows phones, I really like android but Dualcore 1.5 Is not enough to run smooth

My 1.2GHz clocked AOKP JB running TF101 says BULL****.
No, really this phones are really slow, that's why we need better OS that uses less memory and cpu, for example when I open browser and music player, my music starts glitching and sometimes phone even hangs, its very stupid for 1GB ram phone, so lets do something about porting Windows, or something like that.

It's not because the phone is unable to run Android, it's because of bugs in Sony's firmware. CM10 is very fast for me and capable of running 5-10 apps with music in the background and zero stutter.
Android is smooth as butter on my XS running FXP131 CM9, There was nothing really wrong with it on the stock firmware except that Sony somehow felt the need to leave out WiFi Direct, If you want Windows phone, Go and buy a windows phone, The XS is way overpowered for it.

[REQ] JB drivers for sony 2011 models

Hi guys, seems sony is not going to support us and not going to update our phones to the latest Jelly bean android os. Looking around the thread i see the only problem with sony not updating to jb is with the drivers for jelly bean for our phones, i also found out that making the drivers is not a impossible task but a very hard one ( seems X8 has no problem running JB as devstaff said ). I on behalf of all the owners of 2011 xperia devices kindly request all the great developers here in this forum to join togeather to develope drivers for these devices, pls guys help us keep our great phone RAY up-to date.
As far as I know it's NOT an impossible task (because nothing is impossible), but our developers have to deal with reverse engineering and believe me concerning drivers it's a very complicated thing. Too much effort and time put with minimal or no gain at all.
I remember WM 6.5 ROMS for HTC Touch HD whose support was so quickly dropped by HTC and we, simple folk, didn't get the desired 6.5 update. So there were cooks and lot's of 6.5 Blackstone ROMS but, as genius as they were, developers didn't manage to get them work full throttle because, guess what, of them blasted drivers!
So the answer to your question is probably "no"..
am i missing the point of this thread?
there is CyanogenMod 10 jb which supports well most 2011 handsets - CyanogenMod the best you can have on the xperia ray.
i too have an xperia ray and was very unhappy with the original Sony bloat - the phone constantly crashed, rebooted, froze up - you name it, it made no fun at all. after throwing it around out of anger, i put myself together and installed CyanogenMod 9 at first, all previous errors were gone spontaneously. now a month or two ago i started to move to CyanogenMod 10 and guess what, it works great - running android 4.1.2. i'm anxious to install the latest fxp146 which will be online soon.
you can find the stuff here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409053

It seems you do not fully understand how drivers are developed. And with x8 devs were just lucky to get hands on something similar which they adapted for this xperia model. Hell, you can have legendary HTC HD2 running Android and WP7 smoothly but you won't find not a single driver created from the ground up by our XDA tech gurus! So I repeat, what you suggest is very complex and most likely impossible.

Maybe we should start a donation to Naa to help us? Cuz nAa is a superior dev, he made 2.2, 2.3, 4.0, 4.1 for the X8, and the X8 only runs eclair on stock.
Is my idea good? Should we ask nAa for help?
Another idea is to port DesireHD roms because the HW is almost the same, or maybe Xperia J?
Nothing is impossible, we just need good developers thats good at working with drivers.

It is a great idea, I agree Unfortunately there aren't that much developers with the necessary knowledge and time left for our phones. So we're a bit stuck
:/
Now, i'm running with MiniCm10, it's a bit laggy, but very cool !
KitKat 4.4 initially touted as consuming fewer system resources.
The forum has posted examples of work for Xperia X10i? Though still 50% working. But already runs!
Hope and our masters can.
