Hello everyone
I've created a small tool which I use to install themes on my phone. It's only small project I created for people, who want to change theme in the easiest way. And I want to share with you.
I don't know if it's working properly - but I have no problems with it I hope it will be working without any bugs
I'm not responsible if your phone/PC will explode or anything!
Features
-create signed update.zip with your framework
-possibility to add additional apk (like modded apps)
-possibility to move created update.zip to microSD card and reboot phone to recovery mode
-move your apk files directly to /system folder
-backup your files before changing
-checking if other adb processes are running
-english translation (I've made it very quickly, so there might be some mistakes - forgive me )
You have to have full root for adb to use directly moving apk files!
Requirements
-.NET Framework 3.5 (App created with Visual C#)
-Java

update.zip can be compressed? I thought if I compressed, it wouldn't work. I don't remember where, but I had read it somewhere.
Excellent work mate...

Ok well I appreciate your concern on the matter sir... I will have my team look into this issue, so that we can get it resolved.
Thanks,
DroidzforLife
hey I am making a rom for the D2 and it is a still in super early alpha stage and I was wondering if I could use your settings.apk file because I really like the way the icons look with the settings. If I can use the apk I'll mention you in the credits.
Hey guys,
I really want to make a theme for slades rom but i just dont get how to make a flashable update.zip. Additionaly the new CWM requires edify-scripting -.- and here my update-zip-packager doesn't work anymore..for xrecovery it was just awesome..i already tried some amend2edify-converter, but that did not work either
So my question is, how can i make (or edit) an update.zip which can be flashed with the new CWM 3?
Thanks in advance,
nitro
i faced a similar situation today itslelf..n was ultimately forced to download the cwm version of slade's rom v5..
well if u just want to edit and replace apps n stuff, that can just b done in the sam way as any xrecovery rom...i used winrar to add n remove stuff from the rom n it works gr8
okay, thats an idea..but i want to make a theme..which means a flashable update.zip-file..does somebody know with what programm i can make such update.zips?
@ slade: how do you create your update.zips, e.g. the hotfixes with some single files?
Why don't you take a CWM package an unpack it via winrar/any other software? I'm quite sure there is an absolutely common folder structure following more or less the system folder structure and maybe there is one or there are more XML files in order to change some things in source files (e.g. change values in those *.hw files or whatever they are called) and to tell CWM what to do exactly.
As soon as you're done you simply zip it again (watch the folder structure).
***EDIT***
Ok, forget what I just posted. Had a look at one of slades zips and it's a little bit more than just an XML. Might not be smart to change stuff within that META-INF folder without knowing what you do.

I do not like the uninformative default battery icon in the statusbar of gingerbread roms like DSC.
UOT kitchen seems not to work with our framework. So I took the images from UOT Kitchen and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=724778 and put them into streakmod recovery update zips for convenient use.
Fortunately that works just by replacing the png-image files in /system/framework/framework-res.apk without resigning. So this update files should work on other 407 based roms or patched 407-frameworks as well.
I made 3 versions
dsc_obat.zip - the boring original battery icon
dsc_dbat.zip
looks like

I need to say I love the approach
I thought of it, and it was there already!
I was just thinking of asking this!
and, it's here already.
Thanks for this!
Trying out the dbat now
Are there any zips like this to change the dialer?
still searching for ^ this.
Otherwise - I think 2.2 is a wonderfully fast ROM!
Thanks,
Sony.
P.S. - If we replace the png files only ( in your zips ) - will it still be ok?
I can replace it with some other files there - like the digital numbers only kind - and post it here. If it's ok with you.
Thank you again for the work!

Just to let you know, UOT Kitchen does work on DSC 2.2's files as G-Rave's theme for DSC used it for the battery indicator. However, you have to be sure to upload both framework-res.apk and systemUI.apk to the kitchen. This is because the battery indicator appears in both apps, and only changing one of them doesn't work.
I spent some time puting together a couple of themed TWRP Recovery zips. I am TWRP's biggest fan but I've always hated the stock look.
On pretty much every device I've owned I've put together some TWRP themes and made them available for those that like them.
To start with I've kept these simple..... NeatRom blue and red based but I'm happy to redo with other Rom logo/graphics.
Updated, tested and working on TWRP v2.7+ versions.
***Update**** Added NeatRed v2........ compiled for TWRP V2.8.0.1
Code taken directly from TWRP to avoid bugs.)
I have used another themers zip as inspiration and a working base for these themes so credit goes to Sneakyghost at the HTC One M8 threads. Original thread here...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2734308
(thanks again for permissions to use)
Usual try at your own risk stuff applies but I've been running these for a few days with no issues. I hasten to ad......I am not a dev but a keen user.
Let me know what you think........ happy to do requests as and when real life allows it.

To install, rename zip file ui.zip.
In your internal storage you should have a file named TWRP.
If its not already inside, create another folder called theme (note this has to be lower case)
Copy/paste the ui.zip file into the TWRP/theme/ folder.
No need to worry about permissions..... Reboot to recovery and enjoy.
Reserved for updates
.........and another......
nice work mate. thank you
This is a great improvement over stock theme, nice work and thanks.

Awesome work @Prof Peach, love the blue
this is sooooooooo Cooool
:victory: thanks
Updated NeatRed-ui v2. (download attachment from OP)
TWRP v2.8.0.1 version. (This will not work with older TWRP versions)
Base code from TWRP to avoid bugs.
Slight change to clock and version layout but otherwise the same look as previous version..
Added MTP control Button
Added Cursor control.
For a full list of updates see DeesTroys thread.
So, everybody who wants to use substratum on touchwiz is required to buy an addon from the google play store for two dollars. I don't like that. The themers don't benefit from it, nor was samsung support a huge problem to get going. I patched out the requirement for it, and am uploading the apk for it.
This does NOT:
-Remove any piracy checks
-Support piracy
This DOES:
-Allow you to theme your Samsung without the two dollar addon
Now before people get all up in arms about this, I'm legally able to do this. The code is released under GNU GPLv3, and I can make modifications all I'd like as long as I share the source. (Here, for reference)
You'll need to uninstall the default substratum app and replace it with mine, other than that, it's the same app. As Substratum updates, I will too.
Source: Mod edit: link removed
APK: Mod edit: link removed
Didn't mean to put in Development, meant to put in apps/themes. If a mod reads this, please move it.
Interesting, so I can change theme in TouchWiz. Didn't know that
NEW RELEASE: Mod edit: link removed
Since Sub's dev said this, I had to patch again to make it look like it has TouchWiz addon installed

Will it work on khongloi final s8 port??
Edit: Working on Khongloi final. Using Swift for Samsung.

Same
It's one thing to take GPL-licensed work and remove the requirement for the add-on app. It's entirely another to make it look like it's an "official" release so as to try and get support from the substratum team, when they specifically said they won't support modified builds.
Thread closed.
Please do not contact the OP regarding the patched version, as he will not be distributing it.
