[Q] Task Manager auto end list - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For the built-in Task Manager and its auto-end list. Do apps that are on that list auto-end if you also manually shut the screen off or only when it times out automatically?

I believe it is both

Media hub help

How do you get rid of the download manager for media hub that keeps running in the background? also what is googletalk and y is it running in the backround
with a task killer (which this forum loves to debate) or system monitor. i have task panel x for general "one press kills all except the safe list task killing" via its widget, and i have Android System Info (to get a full list of everything going on with the phone) and System Panel Lite for general monitoring and certain service/process killing like the DRM and download ones linked to MediaHub. By the way my batter life skyrocketed after killing it, similiar to what Sprint Epic 4g users experienced.
Theoretically theres also a program called AutoStarts that you can grab from the market for about a dollar that allows you to enable and disable what starts up after rebooting your phone. With the JI6 update, I have not had a good experience with it yet. When i disable something the app freezes and i actually use the stock JI6 task manager to kill it. Then i go back in and it is disabled. However, even disabling 3rd party apps (let alone first party/stock apps) made the phone highly unstable (touchwiz reboots, widgets wouldnt finish loading, etc). Since I purchashed it and its beyond the refund period, I'm going by trial and error of what it will allow me to disable without becoming unstable. Hope that helps...
Do you use media hub? If not then use Root Explorer and just delete it, thats what I did, requires root of coarse. That media hub is a battery killer man.

[Q] add non-running app to ATK ignore list?

Hi,
When i kill all the running applications on my Experia X10 mini pro using Advanced Task Killer, it sometimes makes me reenter my pin. I've found that this is caused by killing "Backup & Restore". So i want to add this to my ignore list, but it's not in my list of running apps.
Is there a way to add apps to the ignore list, if they are not currently running? Or is there a way to force this to be running?
I'm running stock everything, straight out of the box.
You don't have to auto-kill. In fact you shouldn't with 2.1. Android will auto-kill if it needs more memory for apps you launch.
I just use advanced task killer to selectively kill running apps if I need them to die.
Having said that, advanced task killer does have auto-kill functionality and an ignore list to do what you're asking.

This phone has android 1.6. Also, I like my batterylife, so i regularly manually kill all open apps.
I know it has an ignore list to do what i want, but the problem lies in getting this app on the ignore list. Most of the time, it's not listed in ATK.
I have never had the need to auto kill anything since android 1.5. The only time there really is a need to kill something is if it hangs or leaks memory (in the later case you really should contact the developer of the app).
Most of the times if you auto kill everything it gets started directly due to schedule or service. Give it a try for a week without using any atk and you will probably see an improvement.

Internet related apps

Hi everyone, I got a little question for you: I've noticed that everytime I activate data connections on the phone, all google apps and other internet related apps start automatically in background. is there a way to stop this behaviour?

You can install a task manager like advanced task killer, and add the services and apps that automatically start to the autokill list. That way, if any app shall start, the task killer shall automatically kill the app.
allready tried with this but still programs are autostarting...

[Q] Stop application auto starting

Hi Friends,
I am using 2.3.4 and facing critical memory outage (in my galaxy S plus), reason being most of those applications I install keep on running in the background, when i kill them using some (Task Killer) they automatically kicks off and restart themselves again.
Is there anything like services (the way we have in windows) which i need to stop to restrict them to run automatically and at startups.
Please put some lights, as i am new to Android
Are you rooted? If so you can freeze the apps using Titanium Backup.
Use SystemCleanup app or similar like this to disable autorun.

What on earth is the T-Mobile app manager?

And why did it put up an annoyingly persistent notification after I got a system update this morning saying it was "initializing my experience"? I found the T-Mobile description of app manager and it is a fantastically large concatenation of words that says nothing .
Finally got an app manager notification to clean up unused apps. As expected, it didn't give me the option of cleaning up any of the unused apps that are forced on me (like bixby, for instance). Sure seems like the app manager is another good app to delete.
Trashware.
Oh boy! Verizon has something called the VZW app manager, it installs a bunch of apps without your permission, and gives you notifications to try them! I quickly disabled it and removed all the apps it installed.
