I have used tegrak overclock and pushed my phone to 1.66 GHz. I am running VillianRom 1.1 and CF-Root kernel.
When I run Nenamark2 I only score 44.2 fps, yet my friend who is running the same as me, expect he has no over clock, scores 43.6 fps.
Should I do a factory reset, how do I COMPLETELY whipe the phone, including all data, cos factory reset from the menu doesnt COMPETELY whipe the phone.

Your friend is likely running another rom, like lightning rom? Villainrom doesn't perform well with benchmarks

No, hes running the exact same rom as me.

Well after mastering the davik/factory reset/and cache wipe process when installing custom roms, i went from 1.8.1 BB/AMSS/DSP1 345 to Froyo2.2.2 BB/AMSS/DSP1 345 and quite frankly it blows!
Quandrant doesnt even run properly, MY FPS are slower than an old goat with one leg
Have I done something wrong?
Quadrant says: 827
no overclocking.
old goat lol... That sounds average for a stock rom without perfmod tho...
I installed 345 last night from 318. I used titainium backup and backed up everything from my old rom, then restored it to the new rom. Just about every 2nd program crashed, and I simply couldn't use it. Maybe I've gone wrong somewhere. So I did a factory reset and manually installed the apps, but it just seemed so slow for some reason. Dell Stage wasn't even responding. So I quickly went back to 318
Awesome running 1.9.0 no over clocking got 1920 on Quadrant DJ_Steve is so cool
Just to report that for me i couldn't get network(no service) signal for 1 or 2 minutes even after crashing the system server
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1037855
I can't post in there yet, if someone can do that for me, i appreciate that.
I don't if it is connected but the signal showed up when i went to the system update on settings.
Settings> System > About Phone > System updates> Then it crashes in here and FC
Once it gets back to the home everything gets alright.
The rom seems a bit laggy yet, but maybe is something configuration or procedure i did wrongly.
Also from time to time, the screen gets lighted (bright) and after that dark again when i am not using it, not even near.
Just flashed it 20min ago.
you should attempted to reflash the ROM. Make sure you are on basebrand.49 or .52. Wipe data, cache, dalvik cache, and battery stats, then flash the custom zip ROM. Crash system server like you said and you should have a clean ROM
If you want a GB ROM you may try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911364
You're gonna get more suport from J with this ROM =)
what I did and it worked for me was flash TripNMIUI_BTS_02.zip first, then I rooted it again and installed xRecovery. I then flashed bb.52, booted into xRecovery, cleaned the cache, dalvik, battery, etc. and then flashed this ROM. Do a system crash and once it reboots it should pick up a signal within 10 sec.

As i said before, after the last FC in the settings, it did work normally i have the rom working perfectly fine, what i wanted was to someone that can post there to do this for me, or that trip could see this to add to the install steps so people can try also what worked for me may work for others.

I normally try every rom for one or two weeks at least so i can be sure which one is better, so far i've tried one based in this rom, but is wasn't faster than TripNMIUI version.
In TripNMIUI i got 36,5 in Linpack without using any APP2SD tool, also got in Quadrant from 1100 to 1200.
The other roms i tried hardly passed up than 32k in linpack and normally near 900 in quadrant.
I'm running Flashback Honeycomb from the 1.2 branch. I installed the Clemsyn kernel for Honeycomb to overclock the CPU. Then wiped the Davlik cache, then the cache, then rebooted.
The ROM came up fine only the wi-fi is stuck at 'scanning.' I did a backup right before the kernel install. When I restore it back, the wireless works fine. I've done the procedure twice with the same results.
Any ideas why this is happening?
On a side note. When I installed CPU Master without the kernel upgrade it does let me set the CPU to 1.4ghz. What happens, nothing? Do you have to do the kernel upgrade for this to work?
I recently flashed the Batista70 FOXHOUND EDITION 2.4 ROM. I noticed that the ROM came with several apps bundled with it including BLN, some visual candy, and other tweaks. I had wanted to completely format my usb storage/sd card and all data and so ended up (needlessly) doing a factory reset from CWM recovery. The configuration of the phone changed completely. New background, and lockscreen wallpapers, wayyyy fewer integrated apps (obviously), and the scrolling was now MUCH slower from screen to screen. I recovered the apps I wanted with Titanium Backup and flashed the TWD 2.0 kernel. Things are snappy again but I know I'm missing a bunch of extra stuff and the original rom seemed optimized with the bundled kernel.
Are these custom roms fine to be factory reset? and if not/so how drastic can the effects be? I mean my phone actually got slower.
Yes I can just reflash the whole rom but I am a less is more guy so since i've got speed and stability I'll stay put for now. I'm just curious, for knowledge sake.

I am not very familiar with custom ROMs, but stock ROMs do fine with factory reset.
So, it might depend on the individual custom ROM, whether it gets problems after a factory reset or not.

I appreciate the feedback. I'd like to ask the question in the developer forum but of course my post-count is much too low. Don't know if I should bother the dev with a PM, but maybe one of the senior members who contribute to the specific thread for the Batista Foxhound 2.4 rom. It's obvious that I've missed out on some optimization otherwise I wouldn't have experienced the slow-down.
I've noticed that my contacts list doesn't scroll as quickly as it did before the reset, even with the new kernel.
reflash

try to reflash but first do a factory reset, wipe cache partition and wipe davilk cache. leave it untouched for 10 minutes after reboot to optimize applications then do a full reboot again for 2 times. batista70 foxhound 2.4 is a great great rom!

Thanks for the input. I'm experimenting with new roms and kernels and will probably check out batista again and do a standard flash to get a full comparo.
I appreciate the insight. Thanks given.
Hi all, im noob in flashing, custom kernel thingy.
Now i use ICS 4.04 stock rom stock kernel, and rooted.
Im rather disappointed with sxs perform in games. In mega jump when it collect coins, it rather lags. In 3d game like shadowgun and modern combat, it is stutter. And my nenamark2 score is quite low. Only 29 fps ( i ask this score in forum, but still no replies
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832023)
Thus i began to try custom kernel. So here is my question:
1. Does custom kernel improve in game performance without overclocking it? (im going to try advanced stock kernel by arakmar)
2. After flashing with custom kernel with stock rom, do i need to root my phone again or it is already prerooted?
3. If i do factory reset, does my kernel will go back to stock one? How about root? Does root gone when the phone is factory resetted?
4. When i perform custom kernel flashing, does my data in my phone memory always gone?
Thank you

1. it may improve, not assured though
2. not needed. In fact, when I flashed this kernel I ended with 2 "root" apps: superuser and superSU, so I disabled one.
3. I don't know
4. no, all user data (apps, etc) remain
1) The developer of kenal will clearly explains the improvement after flashing a kernal. So choose kernal wisely
2) I think Rom only comes with prerooted , but kernal maintains the power supply and cpu frequency
3) While u factor reset only rom what u have flashes will reset but kernal remain same
4) NO. All ur data in sd card and even in internal memory doesnt go away
Source
My Experiance...
when u used factory reset, you will still have your root, the only thing thats gone are the apps that u installed. and your kernel will not be affected, its still the same.

Hi all thanks. Now ive already flash withvarakmar custom kernel. The first time i do benchmark with nenamark the score is better 35 fps. However, after i use it, reboot it, install app, then do nenamark again, the score goes down again to 29 fps . Any ideas why this happen? Is it because the setting or whatsoever?
Any recommendation for custom kernel that can increase 3 d rendering? I see that some customer kenel can overclock cpu to increase benchmark score. Does overclocking cpu, increase in game 3 d rendering performance?
in stock rom they underclock CPU to 810MHz when the cpu temperature goes to 55 Celcius. There is a way to change that into a higher temperature
