So many of us are rooted...so many...
Getting to ED01 isn't easy without any radio leak. So, to get to ED01, so you can get yer bran' spankin' new modem!, follow these directions.
First, we will downgrade to DL09.
Do this by flashing this DL09 package in Odin (pda button, pda button, pda button)
http://adrynalyne.us/files/stuff/
Then, download this EA28 update.zip, put it on your sd card, reboot to recovery and flash:
http://www.multiupload.com/F00OYXVO0K
Finally, download this ED01 update.zip put it on your sdcard, and reboot to recovery and flash:
http://www.multiupload.com/LPI21AP8TD
Then, flash whatever the latest and great cwr 2.5.x is (I've not kept track.) Do not use cwr 3.x for now, imo. You can then flash one of the stock rooted roms, or root yourself via flashing a super user package from cwr.
Good luck!
Note: Keep in mind that once you Odin CWR to ED01, you MUST also flash a kernel, or rom containing a kernel to replace the stock one, or it will revert you.
Boot first to CWR after Odin, and install one of the above.
Thank you sir, much appreciated.
Are the ed01 and the leaked radio so different that it is worth the process?

There must be a small difference. How can one go about extracting the radio?

Unzipping it and checking it appears that it is supposed to be only 203kb. Should be good to go.
Thank you! Everything works!
Well I did all I was supposed to do and I can't root my phone using the Oneclick root..
Any other ways?
In the his post it says there is no radio and that it is most likely the same as ec01. I'm contemplating doing it too.

Are there any mirrors for the DL09 package? Won't seem to download for me, always stops after a random but small amount - 8 megs, 19 megs, etc.

I guess there was a need to be a **** about it, especially after the problem was solved. Thanks for the OP bud. Love your work, by the way.
Nobody has answered the question. Is EC01 the same as ED01? I don't want to waste the time in putting this update.zip in if it will not improve any.

Im having the worst luck with this. After I flash dl09 i reboot.. then try and flash update.zip for e28 and get assert failed etc etc then error in /sdcard/update.zip (status 7)
Problem:
My GSII was running normally on the latest RootBox version, Dorimax Kernel 7.46, I was using SD Maid Pro, to Optimize database, I didn't actually knew what the function do, but it has to do something with improving the performance of my phone, and i already used it before many times.
But this time it was stuck for like 10 minutes while optimizing database so i turned off my phone and turned it on again, and BAM, stuck on samsung logo, I couldn't access recovery, only download mode.
Steps I already took:
1. Flashed Dorimanx Kernel 7.45 .tar with Odin -> Odin Stuck at NAND Write Start
2. Flashed Stock Roms, ICS (I9100XXLPH and I9100XWLPG) and JB (I9100XWLS8_I9100FOPLS3) -> Odin Stuck at NAND Write Start (Failed)
3. Flashed it on a different Laptop (x86 and x64) -> Same results.
Here is the log from ODIN:
Code:
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> I9100_XEU_I9100XWLPG_PRE-ROOTED_I9100XXLPX_I9100XEULP5.tar.md5 is valid.

<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)
Step that I'm thinking of taking:
I suspected then that I had to go nasty and flash PIT and re-partition.
Basically this is the last solution for hopeless flashaholics, so based on these threads (1) (2) I downloaded the pit zip, but it contained lots of patched pit files, and each for different brick area.
The problem I cannot access recovery mode so I can't know the bricked part. I read in the thread that if I don't know i have to try each one (92 pit files).
And that was a solution for the MMC_CAP_ERASE brick, which actually is not present if i'm using Dorimanx Kernel or JB AOSP ROMs.
So now I'm not sure if flashing pit will be the correct solution, I was starting to think of flashing a bootloader as in thread
So fellow flashaholics, before I mess up with pit files, and f*ck my phone more, any more suggestions?
(Btw I don't have yellow triangle, so basically I can send it to repairing service or whatever, but actually staying without a smartphone for at least a week is quite impossible for me, if you know what I mean)

Try all odin versions possible
Try all usb ports.
Try all usb cables.
Try all pc/laptops you can.
Try flashing various ROMs.
Try flashing various kernels via Odin.

Thanks for the advice, but the problem that it's just stuck at NAND bla bla bla, and not continuing, even thought I tried multiple ROMs, and Kernels, and Laptops. I already uninstalled Kies, it's useless anyway, I reinstalled USB drivers, basically i exploited every possible solution other than flashing a PIT file. But I'll keep trying.

Hi, all. I have a rooted Fascinate and I would to sell it on Craigslist but I am having trouble returning it to stock. I've followed a number of guides and whenever I get to the step of running Odin, I never get to the PASS portion. Instead, I get a message saying 0 succeeded. I've downloaded Froyo and Gingerbread stocks and tried a few PIT files but nothing has worked.
Can anyone help or point me to a current guide that may get me to get this phone back into stock?

Yup, I tried that guide step-by-step and it's not succeeding when I run Odin and load the PDA and PIT and can't figure out why. I tried download both ED05 and EH03 and got the same result. I did that using Odin v1.83 but I notice that says to download to v1.30... however I can't get v1.30 to work. Would that make a difference?

When I try it with v1.83, I click Start but it never gets to the point of saying PASS. Instead, it says process complete and 0 succeeded. When I try with v1.30, it won't even go through the process.
I can give more specifics when I get home later and attach screenshots if needed.

LOL. So I just realized what my problem was. My usb cord wasn't plugged in. I was using an extension hub and I didn't realize that wasn't actually connected >.>
Since I was getting the same symptoms as you, try plugging in to a different USB port. Maybe you've got a bad port or cable.
Bah, I just tried with two different USB cords in different USB ports and got the same results. Man, I'm so confused. But glad to hear that it worked out for you!
Sounds like the drivers to me; what driver pack did you download and install?
At one point I had trouble with Odin and certain USB ports. I just tried every port until I got one that worked right.
Hello,
I have a problem unrooting/unbricking my Galaxy S4 for Verizon. I followed step-by-step processes and it seems to not work properly for me. I downloaded "Odin3 v.1.85" and the stock firmware, "GalaxyS4/SCH-i545/VRUAMDK_NoWipe.tar.zip" and "SCH-I545_MDK_562219_Stock_Restore.tar.md5" for Verizon. I put my phone into the Download Mode and began the process of unrooting using Odin. I made sure that my device was connected. I clicked PDA and chose the stock firmware for my phone. I clicked Start and it begins. As soon is it begins, it says it is not responding, but I wait a few seconds and it responds. After that, it continues where it left off for the unrooting process. The process turned out to be a fail. Here's the message:

if you can't get the usb port (charging port) to work with communicating to your computer then there really isn't much you can do. Have you tried cleaning the contacts off inside the port? Are you sure its NOT the cable?

I tried to upgrade to KitKat using this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2726868). Initially I flashed the AP and CP files as instructed. No errors and the hone rebooted. It was stuck on the boot animation for about 15 mins and the phone was starting to warm up so I powered it down and tried again. Still no luck. In the thread, it mentioned that if boot was unsuccessful, try flashing the CSC file. I tried that and it failed. I can no longer acess anything other than download mode, and trying to reflash just AP and CP no longer work either.
I did get a message about the PIT partition being unavailable. What potential next steps do I have from here?

Now I don't remember what I was on. I know I was using Hyperdrive 16. Either way, seems I can't get passed the boot animation for the stock rom. Is there something I can flash back to?
Is it your intention to be able to upgrade and downgrade again or are you wanting to stay at NC5? Root is easy for NC5 and you don't even need a computer. I would still consider doing a full wipe and starting over. Make sure you use the original data cable that came with the phone. The cable and the usb port chosen is often the cause of failures in flashing via oden.
You might be stuck at NC5 now regardless but in case the upgrade didn't take you could start with the MK2 wipe and if that fails, go with the NC5 wipe.

What does it say on odin when u flash the tar file (like <id:0/003> recovery.img
<id:0/003> hidden.img)
It should say stuff like that in an area that says message in the bottom left corner of odin. It would be nice if u could copy and paste the message lines that showed up during the flash unless you already closed odin. Unless u flashed the full wipe tar try recovery booting and wiping cache and factory resetting

The file you sre looking for will end in md5.tar. use the link that was provided to you by unlinkedenergy. There will be a rar file ( same as a zip file) that you will have to unzip. You will put it in the ap slot. Yhe post you used for upgrading was actually a post for upgrading with the ablility to downgrade again. This is trickier than just upgrading.

Now I don't remember what I was on. I know I was using Hyperdrive 16. Either way, seems I can't get passed the boot animation for the stock rom. Is there something I can flash back to?

Like Tulsadiver said, the upgrade might of not fully flashed. Flashing the mk2 tar if you are on nc5 will possibly fail in odin. It is probably ok to try it though. You can root nc5 with towelroot, an apk that roots your phone in one click

Sounds like that one flashed fine. Again though, the thread you used was for up and downgrading again.
Did it say "pass" at the end?

It did say pass once completed. Still just hung at the boot animation so I am flashing the full wipe right now so we'll see...

Just so you know, the first boot will take several minutes.

Well, that fixed it luckily. So now that I have KitKat on here, I am going to be putting another rom on slot 1 of Safestrap so I don't even worry about configuring the stock. Am I going to be able to get away with flashing Hyperdrive on slot 1 along with the SuperSu patch to keep root, or must I do something on the stock rom to obtain it?
Sorry, I missed your comment about towelroot earlier. I got that on the stock rom, rooted, activated Safestrap and hopefully will be on my other rom soon. Thank you both for the help!

I think that the root will be kept when you flash onto a rom slot (well at least for me root was kept last time I flashed on a rom slot). If you are running safestrap 3.72 (as opposed to safestrap 3.71) rom slots don't work but you can flash kitkat roms on 3.72

I just noticed that. It appears I will have to flash on the stock slot which is fine with me.

Glad you are up and running. Definitely have to use 3.72 and stock slot. Make a backup of your stock rom right off the bat.
If we were any help, don't forget to hit the thanks button!
Happy flashing!!
