I just wanted to know of anyone had the apk for juice defender? I can't seem to find the one for gingerbread roms anywhere.. it's not on the market anymore.. also if anyone has any info as to why its not on the market that would be great... Thanks in advance
Looks like it's still in the Market to me... JuiceDefender. None of those are compatible with GB? That seems unlikely.
Ok. I must be loosing my mind it wasnt there before.. my apologies
I was trying to find the full version, and couldn't. i did findd the beta version of JuiceDefender, but the full version is missing for me. I would have sworn it was just me earlier.
Download the free one and click on the get plus or get ultimate, it'll take you to the market page

Having the same problem as wiliecat, bought ultimate yesterday without noticing it was an add-on requiring free as a base package. So I had uninstalled free first, then when was looking for free again it was gone.
Please let me know if anybody does not get the message that it cannot be found anymore on the market?!

the new Beta is compatible with Gb ROMs.

This is what I got
My experiences with JuiceDefender in the past didn't show any noticeable gains. I used it on the G1, Vibrant, Evo, G2, and now the Mytouch 4g and I feel the phone runs better without it. Just my 2 cents.
On my G2, the battery life went way up, which was the main reason I used it. As far as overall system performance, I didn't really notice.
The beta version does work on GB, and plays nicely with it to, but there are some apps I prefer not to use a beta on. I had the non-beta version on my cm7 g2 a few days ago, so I'm just confused more then anything.
Hi guys,
This is Albie with Latedroid.
Thanks for your interest in JuiceDefender.
Unfortunately some days ago our main package has been pulled from the Market. Right now we are waiting for answers from Google Support.
Just wanted to reassure you: JuiceDefender Beta works alright with both Plus and Ultimate.
Apologies for the confusion/inconvenience, we are trying to fix this as soon as possible.
We will post an update on JuiceDefender's facebook profile as soon as we have news.
Thank you for your support!

I just got my AT&T Xperia X10 and want to root it, mainly to get rid of the AT&T apps they shove on by default and I can't rid of. What is the best method?
I can't give you the links I looked at as I'm new on this forum and they don't allow new users to post outside links. I looked at a link titled:
"Exploid One Click .apk Root (Latest v.1.06 12 Aug. 2010)" (this forum)
...and another one titled:
"Exploid Root Method for Xperia X10 [Tutorial]" (xperiax10.net)
My phone has build number R2CA016 on it, I assume there's no loss of functionality by going to a slightly older build? FYI, my model is X10A.
Thanks.
In my experience, keeping the AT&T build is the better option. My battery life is much better and the phone performs better with no stability issues.
I tried the long method first. I had some issues with the battery barely lasting a day and the device rebooting randomly. It also seemed to get much hotter when using it.
I also tried a few of the decrypted X10a ROMS like Rogers and Latin America Generic. They also exhibited lower battery life and the Latin version had some random reboots.
I went back to the stock AT&T ROM, rooted, removed all the AT&T crapware, and re-enabled the non-market apps option. The phone has been amazingly stable and the battery will last me two days.
Additionally, I found Handcent and ADW both reduced my battery life significantly so I am not using either of those on my phone now. I also remove ALL the AT&T apps including the Exchange app.
Slow down, I'm still getting to grips with this phone!
Right now the battery lasts just over one day, so I'm trying to figure out what apps are running in the background so I can axe anything un-necessary. When you say the "long method", do you mean the procedure in this forum called "Exploid One Click", or the one in the Xperax10.net forum?
Can I save the stock ROM that's installed, so I can go back to it if I want? I just want to remove the garbage-ware to be honest, I don't use Facebook, Youtube, Timescape or all the other apps AT&T puts on. Can you give me a procedure for what you did? Sticking to the AT&T ROM sounds like a good idea, I just want to remove the AT&T apps. FYI, I need an app that let's me connect to MS Exchange.

Also on this forum. Many people now use the one click method, but any of the guides found in this section of the forum will do, it just depends which way you feel most comfortable with.

I'm alright using any of the methods, especially with command prompts, I just wasn't sure if my phone being AT&T would cause a problem. The goal is to wipe the AT&T apps off and just put on what I need.
So far as ROMs, is there any in particular I should be looking at? Surely my ROM is newer than some referred to in the guides? I see "R2BA026" mentioned a lot, where-as I have R2CA016.
I also want a Wi-Fi app that can connect to hidden networks. The default app on my phone works, but when you move away from the network and come back, it no longer sees it. So I'll be looking for a new app for Wi-Fi connections.
Thanks.
I used the longer of two, and I have experienced much better battery life with juice defender on my rooted x10.. All depends what u do and what u have running I guess...but, no probs since rooting a month ago and still going strong. Also, I do not see batt drain from adw and I have been using it for over a month.
Fyi, originally a rogers locked x10a, now unlocked, rooted and running 026 firmware. Hope that helps.. Good luck.

Yes, use the one-click to root. Then you need to install a root file explorer to remove the apk files in the \data\app-private directory. Otherwise, when you uninstall with Titanium Backup it just reinstalls them automatically. If you don't understand what I am saying you can send me a private message and I'll help you through it.
There is one particular apk that you do not want to remove if you need Exchange support. That apk is com.nitrodesk.sony.nitroid.apk
To re-enable non-market apps, look for the non-market app thread under the Samsung Captivate on this forum. The only difference is that on our phone, the settings.db file is in /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db. You will need to use that in the place of the directory for the Captivate settings.db

I'm not sure what to say here. I have tested battery life with and without Handcent SMS and it is definitely causing battery drain during partial wake of the Battery History information. The ADW drain may have just been circumstantial but the Handcent issue is easily replicated.
Also, the AT&T ROM is R2CA016 which would seem to be new than the R2B ROMs on other carriers. I think this may be why I get the best battery life using this ROM. I do have it decrypted for easy restore from debranding as well.

Hey Bill, I was simply stating that I have not seen any battery drain with ADW installed. With Juice defender, I see over 2.20x+ battery life, which in the real world equates to about 2 days, some times a few hours over and that is a huge improvement from when I initially unlocked the phone.
As far as Handcent is concerned, I do use it, even with the figures above. I have never used anything but handcent, so I'm not sure whether I have seen a decrease, but my x10 has been fine with all the before mentioned applied. As I said earlier, I guess it all depends on your usage and apps and running processes as a whole.. I don't know. haha. Didn't want it to seem as if I were throwing you under the bus or anything, just stating my actual usage experience.
My 2 cents..
Not to hijack the thread but where should I find the original ATT ROM that you guys are talking about?
Alright, I'll try the one-click method then. Do you recommend a root file explorer, naplesbill?

AT&T Wont allow Side Loading without root access...I Tried that one earlier this morning, and it didnt work either.
The Root tutorial that has been mentioned seems to be the best method, Although I've gotten up to the Part where it says that under the model number on the phone it should Show X10a (which mine does) Yet, apparently Im missing something because I have no Root access...SO, Hopefully, If this Rapidshare download finishes this year, I'll get back to trying it again...Could just be that I missed something in the steps...I dunno LOL!
I read somewhere that adding market is causing stability issues. I know my A70 is having some issues, and I never ran it with 2.1 on it so I don't know how it behaved before the update, and I put market on it first thing.
I'm hoping its all just due to a rushed release of 2.2 to appease the masses, and an update is coming soon to help stability. But in the meantime, what are some tips for helping stability?

That's unfortunate, there is a couple versions for adding gapps, wonder if one works better than the others.
The most up to date might be gapps4archos v4. kenyu has been working on it and making it work well.

Its actually called gAppsInstaller_v4, but close enough..
The v4 version fully stable.

Side loaded all the apps I needed and slideme market, so far so good. Its only been about an hour, so longer testing is needed to be sure.

I spent a good portion of the day yesterday playing around with a hot swap of the newer Market, but had no luck.
I even reset and added the newer Market to a fresh install and it worked, but was very unstable. Basically, in order to get a stable version of the Market, we need a specific type/flavor of Vendor.apk which I don't have nor do I know how to find or even what to look for....
It's almost like the gApp files need to be all in sync with each other in order to get a stable Market experience....
Get the file OTA is a different matter... I think that will work OK.
I gave up on the market with my A5 IT... it runs so much better without it(more RAM, less FC's). The only annoying part is when apps have plugins on the market - these are often difficult to find elsewhere. Also some apps will assume you have it installed and can sometimes FC when they look for it and can't find it.
I have not intention of installing it on my gen8 either.
After more testing, its still running good. The shoehorning method of installing market may be causing problems somewhere. I'm not even running a task manager to keep the thing from locking up. Even when switching between several memory intensive apps the free memory would stay around 40mb free at minimum. Seems memory management is working better.

The below is a method brunes came up with:
brunes_007 said:
Having bought one of these from China, and having very little to noting written on this device so far, I had to figure a bunch of this out myself... so I thought I should share my findings with the community.
If you order one of these from China, you will find that it does not have the Google apps and utilities on it. So to get them on, first you will have to root it.
The first method I tried was via the recovery mode, which I determined you access by holding volume up + power until it reboots into it. However, you will find unfortunately that the recovery mode on this device is locked and it will only flash signed updates, so that method is out.
I tried a bunch more methods and exploits until I finally found one that worked - that was this Root_with_restore method on XDA. Follow the instructions in this thread and you will have rooted your device.
Now that my device was rooted, the next problem was how to install the Google apps. I downloaded the latest ICS apps from goo.im - but remember, you can not flash these. I tried installing ROM manager from the market and using that to flash CWM recovery, but that didn't work. What DID work, and what I ended up doing, was simply unzipping the gapps.zip onto my MIcro SD card, then (as root on the phone), copying the entire contents of the "system" folder from that SD card over the /system directory on the phone. After I did this, and rebooted, I now had all of the Google apps working!
I was able to add my account and install all needed apps from the market to make this phone really shine.
My next goal is to figure out how to get CWM working on this phone. I am doing a bunch of reading on the topic and might have something to report later this week.

Hi Guys,
Can anyone please point me in the right direction on steps to root and install the Google applications (Play Store, Google Contact Sync, etc.) on my Huawei U9510e (Ascend D1 Quad XL)?
I just had a family friend bring me one over from China today and obviously it didn't come with any of the Google applications. I was able to find the Gmail apk online along with the GoogleLoginService and the GoogleServicesFramework apk. Everything installed fine, but I am still unable to sync contacts over from Gmail, and occasionally I will get an error saying that GoogleServicesFramework has crashed.
Any insight pointing me to the right direction is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

No problem, I'll do the translation and post it up by tonight
But just remember that it's still built on a beta rom release from EMUI so it may be unstable, even though I haven't experienced anything (ie. the phone auto restarting), I can't guarantee for you guys :S
Amazing phone for the price
I just got mine 2 hours ago. My friends are all HTC fanboy so they told me to stay away from Huawei but I was just thinking to try it out and then return it but I think i am gonna keep it and sell my GNex. It is quite an amazing pone for such a little price. although the phone might look bit thick but the thickest part of GNex is actually slightly thicker than the D1. I just wish there are more dev support.
I find the camera app that came with it really annoying since you cant turn the sound off... also if it had 2Gb of ram this would be the perfect phone for me!
Anyways anyone else have any news on update to 4.1.2? Or is there other site/ forum with more support?

Beta is fine. Flashed my previous Samsung Captivate numerous times (various Cyanogenmod releases), until settling at SlimBean. Android = always a work in progress.
Regarding the D1, anyone notice slight choppiness when scrolling through the app drawer and such? I'm using Holo Launcher (which I used on the Captivate).
I find that changing the power saving setting to High Performance seems to have mitigated this somewhat. I suspect it might be a small issue with how the stock governor is handling transitions in CPU speed.

For sure about 2GB ram, and support is coming, supposedly Huawei will fully unlock the bootloader by late next week.
I get all my information from bbs dot anzhi dot com, it's a Chinese forum and that is where I found all of my information from. You'll probably have to wait a while longer for the office update to Jelly Bean from Huawei's EmotionUI, but I will be posting the guide on how to flash into their beta release later tonight.

I noticed it when I just open the app drawer, I'm using Holo Launcher HD, and it'll be smooth out after opening it for a second or so. I haven't noticed this problem when I was using the ADW or stock Launcher though, so the probably poor ram management from Holo.

Testing Apex Launcher (my go-to launcher before) now. Seems smoother!
I Tested with NOVA launcher PRIME and I say the transition is pretty fast but not smooth. (tested it on performance mode) But i gotta say the 3D unlock screen works perfectly smooth. Do you guys think it might be the problem with 4.0.4 ICS and not the device? My GNex runs on 4.1.2 + some performance tweak and it looks fine.

I'm not sure, because the 3D Home was laggy to me compared to the 2D Home, and I didn't try NOVA, so I couldn't comment, but isn't it similar to APEX and ADW? If it is, then it should be pretty snappy :S

Hey I'm just wondering if anyone got a case for this phone and can you please give a short review of it. I m looking for a case that replace the back cover but wraps around to the front. I had a case like that for my atrix 4G back. I just don't want to make it any chunkier. But if you think it feels fine then I might consider putting on a case. Thanks

Indeed it is snappy but not as buttery smooth as 4.1 I feel.

You're welcome! I definitely think that project butter had alot to do with the smoothness

I'm using this case right now. I love the feeling of the back, it's really similar to the original backing of the phone's battery cover, and it's not too bulky. I'll get a couple of pictures of it tonight so you can get a sense how much wider it is compared to holding the phone without a case
Newbie Hiere
Hi Sir/s,
I recently bought a Huawei U9510e phone from China and i came upon your posts re the "rooting".
I already rooted my phone (thanks a lot to you!), but now my problem is how to install the google play.
I saw one update from Huawei but it is in ZIP file. Here are my questions:
1. How will i install the update to my phone? Do i need to download it from a PC first then install it in the phone or do i need to download in directly to the phone?
2. How to deal with those ZIP files and where to save them to make them work? For example, the attachment "huawei_usb.zip". I downloaded it but i didn't know whats next after that. How can i integrate it in my phone? Or if its a driver, how can i integrate it with my PC?
Kindly help by providing step by step procedures re my question since im still new at these things.
I apologize for the stupid questions but i don't really have any idea about those. Hope you can help me.
Thanks,
Androidneophyte
Hey guys,
Just got the phone the other day.
Some guy got it as free upgrade on billpay with vodafone but decided to keep his current phone and sell this on so I got it for a great deal.
I unlocked it and changed network and everything is fine EXCEPT.
It's running really slowly for some things, especially dialer, contacts and messages.
It's on 4.1.2 by the way.
I tried resetting to factory, wiping caches, reinstalling update through Kies, resetting to factory, wiping caches again.
Nothing helps.
Seems like a lot of other folks are experiencing this crap since JB switchover from ICS.
Is there any fix for this apart from rooting and installing custom ROM?
Didn't think I'd have to go the the hassle of doing this with such an expensive phone. At times it feels like my old Vodafone 858 smart
Seriously, it can take 4-5 seconds to open contacts, dialer or messages.
Once you open them they open fast after that, until they are released from ram again.
If Samsung are aware of this and are planning an update I will hold out for that, but otherwise, root + modded ROM I reckon, as this feels like a budget phone, not an S3.
This is really crap as I was all excited to finally have a nice , quick , responsive smart phone after well over a year on my old 858 smart.
A little underwhelmed to say the least.
I tried all the fixes like animations to 0.5x and turning off location data etc.. but no difference.
The hardware seems to be fine as it got 15700 I think it was in An tu tu, and everything registered as it should. Seems like hopelessly unoptomised software to me.
Any tips, fixes or suggestions form anyone would be welcomed.
Thanks,
Mark.
All of us have to deal with this crap. Try using a not-Samsung dialer, messenger, etc.

Tried contacts+ and was still not as responsive as I would have hoped.
I actually like the samsung default functions if they worked faster.
Is there any rom that keeps the default look and functions but is a lot better optomised and has better memory management?
I might go that route if there was such a thing?
Don't want to use a rom that would loose functions the phone has, just something more streamlined and a lot quicker.
Don't know anything about roms so any suggestions would be welcomed.
Do you reckon this might actually be officially fixed in a future update? Is there enough people complaining about these issues to raise a flag with samsung?
Feared it was a faulty phone, but after reading lots of similar reports I am at least glad that it appears to be software not hardware.
Just pick any stock based ROM. My recommendation is in a PM, because I don't want to start a flame war.
I don't know about future updates, but I don't think that they give a damn about what the community thinks/wants. (the community asked for documentation of the processor and they gave us nothing aside from stuff they had to release cuz law)

Thanks but I like the look of the default one.
Just rooted and installed Wanam lite and it's definitely a lot snappier. Still the problem with the dialer, contacts and message app being dropped from memory after not being used for a while.
Is there a way to edit files to lock the dialer, contacts and message apps to memory permanently?
That would solve the problem.
Cheers,
Mark.

Keeping the contacts and dialer in memory is one of my favorite features of JKay's Mod. I'd highly recommend that you check it out and can't say enough good about the Deluxe settings application itself (paid app on the Play store) because it allows you to fully customize the stock look and feel to your liking.

Not sure which version you installed, but you'll find all the supported versions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1807819
It's by far my favorite all-around mod for the SIII, and I have been a fan of it since owning the SII, which is now my wife's phone.

Thanks mate.
I checked I installed GT-I9300_WanamLite.XXEMB5.V6.2.NO-WIPE .zip
I checked version number with *#1234# and it's 19300xxemb5 so I downloaded XXEMB5_JKay_Deluxe_Stock_v14_92_9.zip , is this correct?
EDIT:
Did the above steps and works fine. Installed the Deluxe settings too from google play.
Man the difference now is something else.
Thanks guys for all your help, phone is brilliant now.
Its a bit of work but ASOP is very nice as well, you should do a nadroid backup and have a quick look at CM10.1
Since the new mali drivers, its been very good and super fast on all screens.

Will keep this in mind in case I have any issues in the future, but for now it's running great.
After a day of using the Wanam lite rom I am happy enough but would like to see if I could get better performance.
Even with this Rom and the JK framework and settings app I still get the occasional bit of lag, especially when using the dialer, and contacts.
Even though with the whitelist checked in JK it seems that the dialer and contacts still get kicked out of ram after a while.
Am interested in finding the smoothest, fastest rom that has instant response with dialer and contacts and also has the latest features.
I don't want to loose any features the phone had by default either.
There are so many roms available and they all claim to be super smooth and fast, so it's hard to know which to use.
I don't want to spend a whole week installing rom after rom.
Would appreciate some feedback from you guys that have tried them all as to which is the smoothest, and is there any that has instant response with dialer and contacts. Hopefully a rom that performance doesn't degrade the longer the phone is running either.
Am I asking for too much or is there such a Rom?
Cheers,
Mark.
i've had quite alot of phones since my atrix 4g...i keep coming back to this cool little gadget!I've successfully updated to the nottachatrix rom today, and was immediately impressed!I'm curious to know what (in your opinion) is the best for atrix 4g (at&t) with webtop(or similar ubuntop...whatever gets the dock working) as of this date?I'm more interested in the daily user builds...but there is alot to go through,so i thought i would ask for a little guidance...i'm up for some tinkering!

let me clarify a bit...i use this lapdock from time to time, but i'm thinking i could use it alot more if i could update it.I use the google suite of apps such as sheets,drive,etc... i also like using chromecast on my note 4...but maybe the trusty atrix can handle that too?
I recommend ICSROM 1.4.6 that gives you the most functionality and ICS supported apps. Also, Webtop 3.0 is more stable and no resets of phone after using it.
Then update the kernel with the last 3.1 kernel from this Gdrive.
kernel-atrics
You will also want to update the ExtDispServiceD.apk from that Gdrive location as well.

Ty!looks promising!going to start reading on that tomorrow!
I wouldn't be using this if my LG G3 didn't take a face plant to a brick, but here we are. So I tried the ROM and kernel you recommended because I've been out of the Atrix game for a minute and have no idea what I'm doing (not that I did back then either). The ROM works pretty well except for the WiFi and it refuses to realize that it has superuser installed? There was ICSROM-v1.4.6.zip and ICSROM-v146_Rebuild.zip but you didn't mention the rebuild, so I figured you meant the first one and went with that.
Now as to the Kernel, you mentioned the last one. I figured you meant the last ICS one and not KK (last file in the list) so I tried that. However at boot the screen got a little shaky, then REALLY SHAKY, and then everything went black. So I wiped everything and reinstalled 1.4.6 and that's where I'm at now.
Please advise.
