is the 3500mah battery safe/good? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was looking through ebay for a new battery for my thunderbolt and there were some extended batteries that were 3500mah for around $12. I was just wondering if these batteries are any good or safe to use because it just seems too good to be true.

I was wondering that too. I saw some on ebay where they had TWO 3500 mAh batteries for like $20 or something.

It's unlikely that they're close to the claimed capacity, but they're cheap enough to try.

I can answer this! I got the same 3500mAH battery off Ebay.. Is it safe? Yes, my Thunderbolt worked fine with it, but as far as it being good - well, you get what you pay for. I have the HTC 2750mAH battery and it lasts much better than the aftermarket one you're talking about. If you're looking for a decent extended battery that's still pretty inexpensive, there is one made by Yobado that's 2800mAH. I haven't tried it for my Thunderbolt, but I had a Droid X with a Yobado extended battery, and it actually worked pretty well.

I haven't tried one but do your research, some aftermarket on eBay work, i bought an extended galilo slim no added bulk battery for my evo 2000 mah and it def lasted longer than stock, i doubt it was really 2000 but an improvement and 2 for 15 dollars with a battery charger

just ordered a thunderbolt and will be looking for extra stock batteries (don't want the added thickness) and a dock which will charge them. I'm guessing 1 extra battery will probably get me through the day at work.
Anyone seen them?
edit:
something like this:

charges phone and extra battery at the same time.

Ebay Batteries... do you use them?

I'm curious if anyone's used the "higher" Mah batteries from e-bay and if you actually do get more battery life.
My experience with aftermarket batteries has been hit and miss.
My HTC Hero ran great with no problems, long battery life
But...
My Motorola Milestone, and HTC HD2 ate up aftermarket batteries in less than 8 hours with minimal usage. I had to go back to using the OEM one
bump... so everyone's just sticking w/the OEM batteries? I've been looking at this one.

Dudes.... Just get the extended battery. I did the whole battery swap thing on the thunderbolt(had 5 extra batteries).... But finally said "no more!" and got the Mugen 4500mAh battery.
Ofcourse, 2750 isn't quite as much as 4500, but should still be enough so you don't have to keep spares around for swapping.
I have the Seidieo HTC Multifuction chargers w/ thunderbolt trays
Will the thunderbolt battery fit in rezound? Will the rezound battery fit the thunderbolt charger tray? Seideo says they haven't decided to support rezound yet .
I figured on going with the Otterbox Defender for Rezound since that
is rather like the Seideo Convert cases line and come with the belt holster.
Actually, I was contacted by Seidio. They have started production on Rezound accessories. Should see them in the coming weeks.

Not worth $92. You can buy the OEM extended battery door for $20 on amazon and then an OEM extended battery for the tbolt for $4. $24 is much better. I bought the OEM extended battery at Verizon when it was half off for $25. And about 2 months ago I bought an OEM tbolt extended battery. I now have a total average of 96 hours of battery life.

Too bad it doesn't fit in the oem extended back.
The mugen battery is totally awesome.
Although I have three VZ 2750 batteries I have not used one of them since I got the awesome mugen 4000.
If you want a battery that will never die, the mugen is worth every penny.
I was having repeated problems this last week keeping my 4G connected. It would cut out randomly and I was not able to stream video. The Speedtest app was showing speeds less than 1 mbps. I would run the same test on my GF's Razr right next to my Rezound and the Razr was getting 15 mbps download. So it was isolated to my Rezound.
I got a new SIM card yesterday and still had the same problems. I switched to the spare Mugen Power extended back. Same problem. Then I switched back to the OEM extended 2750 mah battery and the problem is currently resolved. Getting decent download speeds and Netflix streams again.
I'll give it a few more days to see if the problem returns. But for now, the Mugen Power 4000 mAh battery or its back MAY be the source of my problems. Too bad since the battery had done so well for the first month I used it. I'll keep you posted.
(I feel like such a tool since I already posted this rather positive review and now it appears to be having problems.)

Update. The LTE connection problem came back while using the OEM extended battery. So I have done the dreaded factory reset and now the LTE connection stays on. I am praying the problem doesn't return.

Are those OEM extended battery doors on Amazon legit? More specifically, I would like to know if they have all of the proper antenna connections on it.
Good review. A couple comments.
My mugen backplate had the hole at the bottom for the noise canceling mike.
I have the same case you showed. I set my phone face down in the sun for 15 minutes and now the case is snug.
The two holes for the noise canceling mikes do not always line up, so i enlarged the holes a little. Happy with case now.
As for battery life, all I know is i get better than on the oem extended which i started with day 1. How much better is hard to define as i don't take accurate measurements, but gut feel is about 30%.
I had the oem extended for 43 months and the mugen for 1.
Follow the recommended procedure for over charging and draining 4 -5 times. It makes a big difference.
Since I changed to another phone, I'll be selling my Mugen Power extended battery on ebay starting at 99 cents.

The antenna is integrated in the battery door. You have a bad connection between the antenna and phone contacts.

New 3500mah extended batteries

Just saw these on eBay. They come with a different looking back cover and only cost about $10. I also saw a similar one made by Hyperion.. might be a good compromise between the oem extended (2750mAh) and the mugen (4000 mAh) if it's accurate..

Went for the Hyperion. Will report back.
Yeah it seems worth the risk of $10-15...the only thing holding me back is that I already have a diztronic extended tpu case and this new style wouldn't fit it. I might be willing to chop up one of my standard tpu cases though...I'll have to think about it..

I don't trust Hyperion. I bought a couple regular-sized batteries and one of them shorted out and overheated quite a bit. I have no problem with my Laza Zcell, which is also an intermediate between the HTC Extended and the Mugen
Truth be told I bought two of the standard size Hyperion batteries a long time ago that came with an external charger too. They were defective but Hyperion gave me a full refund and let me keep it all (I still use the charger). They told me they had been having some issues and something to the effect of "please give us some time to work out the kinks and we'll figure it out." They were very nice and helpful and I was impressed by there customer service so I'd be willing to give them another shot. (LISTEN UP HTC and Verizon! Good customer service helps in the long run! )
Edit: and no, I don't work for them or anyone for that matter!

Frankly, I'm surprised that Verizon's batteries aren't locked down so you can only recharge them on their cables and chargers. That's sort of the attitude they take with everything else they sell, isn't it?

bought a couple of hyperion standard batteries for the thunderbolt and they always died between 10-15%. Not sure I trust them. Also, that back door is fugly. I wonder if my stock extended battery cover would fit?
I tried the hyperion battery and i couldn't get any signal with the battery.
I liked the feel of the cover but the best signal I could get was 1x. even with the OEM extended battery and the hyperion cover.
The OEM cover and the hyperion battery seemed to also block my signal. Couldn't get any signal with any of the hyperion parts. I'm glad I didn't spend too much on it
Well that's disappointing...as I stated before, they were at least really nice about it when i tried their standard ones. I'm sure if you're tactful/polite they'll give you a full refund. Who knows, maybe that unnamed cheaper non Hyperion one works? I'm just a big fan of buying random cheap sh*t off eBay to see what I get. I've got some really fun stuff around the $2 range like a 3.5mm dust plug with a mini android in it, a gold stylus shaped like a feather, etc...but I digress.

Same happened to me with the back cover not getting a signal. This in turn caused the battery to die faster.

Lmfao, I do the same thing. I will give the unbranded one a shot when payday comes.
Yup. The Hyperion back seriously sucks. The OEM extended battery back fits well enough if the Rezound is in a case, though.
Finished my first deep discharge and will give it 5 cycles with the OEM back before passing judgment.
Dumped down the innertubes from my Rezound via xda premium.
I had one of these batteries for my og EVO, sadly when I peeled it apart out of curiosity it was just two 1100mah batteries in parallel. So I doubt it will be better than the HTC extended batt.

Well, if that's the case, it would still be 400 mAh better than the stock extended (ie 1600*2). And considering that I have almost no service at work I regularly kill my 2750 in 8-10 hours. Plus it would be nice to be able to listen to streaming music for more than 8 hours on LTE.

I am going to the trouble of actually running this thing down to near 10% before recharging (I don't want to go further because some ROMs have an anomaly where they misreport battery level). I've just finished my third discharge cycle and I'm getting 24 hours with active use of the handset, including media playback through BT, phone calls, texting, web access, etc. That's good enough for me, although I will follow-through with 2 more full discharges as instructed and see what my mileage is.
BTW, the battery works fine with the "original" Verizon Extended Battery back, so I probably will never use that crappy Hyperion back again.

To be honest, I've never tried a full run-down of my OEM Extended (the 2750 mAmp from Verizon). I guess I ought to do that to get a truer measure.

Mugen or Powerocks?

Hi guys. So, my battery in my Amaze is not lasting long at all and I am looking for extra battery powers and things. It's between the Mugen 3600mAh vs the 2600mAh powerocks stick. The mugen is a big case for the phone adding aboit .9mm but has a bigger battery than then power rocks which is like a seperate portable charger. Which should I get? Would the mugen be too big when its on the phone? Would the power rock be impractable as I always have to carry that around with me? Please help and tell me when to do. Also, the power rocks is around $30 while the mugen is around $90.
Or should I just get a replaceable 2000mAh battery?

That's what I did. I have 2 extra Anker Batteries and an external charger that came with it. They are reported as being 1900mAH. I only carry 1extra one and have the 3rd battery on standby at home unless I go to Disneyland and expect to take tons of pictures then I'll bring it. Other than that 1spare to bring is sufficient enough for me.
The mugen is that much? Dang, they were so affordable for the g2

Anker batteries is the way to go. 2x Batteries at Amazon for $30, and Charger dock that has multi purpose as well.
