Hello everyone,
I just found my streak 5 stopped charging when turned and I have to turn off the phone to make it charge now.
Does anyone have this problem? How did you fix it?
Thanks
I had the similar problem , but mine was doesn't charge at all neither ON or OFF , it get charged only when I plugged it to Multimedia Dock , I called dell , then I open a case with them , and they did replaced it to me. but it took them 1 month to send it to me
Thanks for Dell for replacing my Streak , and POO for delayed delivery
How to open a case?
I called and they told me to to use the "pull battery out" trick.

U should try to a factory reset first and see if that helps.
If not it could be a hardware problem. People had issues with their streak not charging in the past.
Call them and tell that u cannot use the phone anymore. They should send u a replacement , if u have a warranty

It appears it was a hardware issue.
I returned the handset to the service centre. Like any dumb and inefficient technician he re-installed the OS and told me that it was fixed while it actually was not.
Got a call a while back asking me to collect a new handset as a replacement.
Hey all..... Since late yesterday, my Streak's battery has been rapidly draining (35% in one hour with very little usage).... Also, the battery cover feels hot, especially down near the bottom (where the charging port is located). I have not installed any programs at all, and just last week I "conditioned" the battery (as I've done every month), by running it all the way down (until it turns itself off), then fully charge it, run it down again, then fully charge it again. I've done this on every phone I've ever owned.... and to the Streak ever since I bought it last April. I'm thinking it might be time to call Calcutta and get this one replaced.... Any thoughts? Thanks

check with watchdog app to see which is using the high cpu / memory. then, you shall found the app that you need to uninstall
Hey ssoo....
Thanks for the advice, but I already have Advanced Task Killer installed (since last April)... There are no programs running in the background other than what's already been running for many, many months now.
I have not installed any new programs in about 3-weeks now.... The problem just started yesterday.... I'm starting to think the battery may be shorted internally somehow.....

Strange as this is, the drain problem has gone away as quickly as it appeared... and my Streak is not getting hot anymore..... VERY strange indeed.... but I'll take it however I can get it

I had a similar problem the other day out of the blue. Turned out my Google Music app had been playing the same song for hours. Actually the song was over, but the timer kept on ticking away like the song was 4 hours long with no sound output. Force stopped it and problem went away. I guess the little quirks we put up with are the price we pay for the freedom and flexibility of Android vs those other guys.
Hey, I'm trying to get a friend's x10 mini pro up and running again.
A few weeks ago she complained of a non working earpiece in calls (speakerphone worked) and the notification light not working. And then the whole thing just gave up on itself.
Managed to get it turn on by using an apple usb charger, but all I get is a blank black screen with the backlight on.
Used SEUS to see if I could get it to turn on by reinstalling 2.1 eclair but to no avail.
Are there any suggestions at all as to what I could do?
Anything would be appreciated.
Thanks,
phish
I don't really know to suggest. Try leaving it on charge, plugged into the mains, for a few hours. That might do something..

Left it charging for 8 hours and then some last night. No luck. That blank screen still being the only sign of life and slight vibrate.

I guess that's what i'll have to do. i'll poke around the insides myself beforehand because its out of warranty and I have free reign over what I can do to it regardless of whether it works in the end or not.
Thanks for your help/

+1 on this my girls phone just did like that.
Same exact issue...
My girlfriend's phone started to have the same exact issues, unresponsive screen, failure on the earphone, and display distortion. So I got her the new Mini Pro, and took the U20i...rooted, and placed a rom in it...so far so good. Then I decided to open the thing...see if there was something that could be repaired. So once I took it apart, which is not hard, just needs some patience, got to the flex. The darn thing was broken, but in a weird fashion, I mean, the right part of the flex itself broke, but not the left part. Anyways, I decided to move it, and voila, I finished damaging the flex. It starts, but stays blank. I have decided to take it to a repair center to check the price to repair. If not, then I will buy the pieces one by one, they come around at $55.
This morning my S3 was working fine, fully charged over night and functioned as normal. Sent a text, put it in my pocket and went about my business. Checked the time half an hour or so later... still fine. Came to make a call an hour after that, the screen was off and i couldn't get it to switch back on.
My first thought was that it must not have charged over night, plugged in charger and tried again but still nothing. Luckily the misses has an S3 also so I tried her battery in mine and vice verca... her phone switch on with my battery and was still charged... mine still did nothing at all with her battery in. Absolutly nothing!
I can't get anything out of it... wont switch on, no download mode, no recovery, laptop wont pick it up via usb. Its not like it banged anything whilst in my pocket as i was just sat watching TV and an hour ago it was fine.
Anyone had this or know what to do? Is it worth making a JIG to try and force download mode even though no button combo does anything at all? (believe me i've tried them all!)
Phone is rooted and *was* running a custom ROM with no problems. Does it need a trip to a service center? If it has to go for a warranty repair is there any way they can tell root/ROM if no download mode/ recovery?
I could understand if I f***ed it up when flashing something but as I say I was doing nothing at the time.
Thanx in advance for any info!
Theirs a thread started called "borrow a jig near you" if you cannot access download, recovery or anything I think that's the only option you have or the dreaded service centre lol

Happened to mine. Totally dead, was sitting on desk so wasn't touched between last use.
Sent it to Samsung (Regenersis) who replaced a power management IC and the main board.
Sadly it returned with very poor cell reception so went back, and has since come back still with poor reception, scratches, and lint under the camera glass! Not too happy with Samsung's repair centre atm!

If it returned with more problems, you can ask for a replacement.
You don't think I have already?! Haha
So far my pleas are falling on deaf ears. Spent several hours on the phone to them when it come back, before I got someone who would escalate it further and am waiting for their response

Cheers for the replies. Looks like it's off to the service center for a fix and some added problems.
Just hope they can't check the flash counter or ill be paying for it!
EDIT: just spoke to my carrier and because its only a few months old they will replace if free of charge!
Anyone know if it will still have all my personal info on it or is it too dead to talk to anyone?

If they replace it, they will send it to the service centre at their expense so it will be wiped anyway

Hey guys I need help regarding the charging port of dell streak. My phone is not getting charged but when I connect the charger and hold it a little downword it starts charging. I took it to the dell srevice centre and they said that soldering from inside is broken or damaged and they are asking to get a replacement done. I don't want to replace my phone. Any idea how can I fix it and bring it back to the working condition..?????
You should better go for replacement if yours is still under warranty. Any workaround might not be long lasting and cost of repair/spares will keep on increasing for this obsolete phone model.

I would have gone for the replacement option but the thing is my phone is no longer under warranty period.
Then it appears you'll have to pay up. Unless you know someone with the skills to repair or replace the port you're simply going to have to bite the bullet and replace your device.
