Does not really matter. Once the camera is installed, you will need the correct camera.apk. SGS tools has a hack or you have search the forum for it. From what I recall, most if not all of the 2.2.1 custom roms out there has it as well.
thanks for the info.I will search and I let you knows.

hey guys just a quick question about installing a ffc to my vibrant, ive checked some of the other threads but didnt get a definitive answer. so after physically installing the camera and flashing the firmware would the camera work on any 2.2 rom or does the rom have to support the feature with a mod of some sort?

Correct me if I'm wrong but as far as I know the Rom have to support the ffc feature.

Some of the TW roms (the older ones) you have to flash the camera apk separately
But most of the new 2.2 roms all have FFC camera support ( Axura, Loki, etc.)
So there is nothing you need to do other than have the camera installed.
I use my ffc with tango works GREAT !
Thanks guys

Try clearing the data of the camera app.
Btw, these kinds of posts belong in the Q&A section.
I`ve olso used the stock camera update, but the video function is not working.when i try to switch to video mode it just crashed.and the gallery is also messed up wrong icons in corners,freeze...etc.i mentioned in the first post "fully working"
Sorry if i post the thread in wrong section but i need a rom with stock camera app not just an answer...so i tought that here is the right place to put my question.
stock camera app has dependancies on stock framework
custor roms dont have stock framework
i think you can see where this is going.....
after all if you need it so much keep stock rom
I would like also this custom rom if exist ...

yes....for the moment i use the stock rom.but this rom is Android 2.1 and I need the 2.2 version for some apps.
well.....
we all make our sacrifices
but i dont see stock camera coming soon to custom roms
its a lot of work for the devs for something that can be resolved with android camera, if it is possible at all
i dont know if it is worth the effort

i understand....if x10 mini pro would had a bigger screen the android camera was very ok....but with such a smaller screen u can barely see the picture that u take!that`s why the stock camera is better for this phone.and i`m not the only one with this opinion.
hi please is there a solution or alternative camera for the gingerbread rom?
i flashed cobrato's miui 2.34 rom, and im so in love with it i caanot bring myself to downgrade it.
the camera is practically not working, pls a solution
Only solution AFAIK is to wait for the official Gingerbread Update.
Then our devs have access to the required files to implement it in further customs Roms.

You've GOT to be kidding me...
What makes you think that if there was a solution,
it wouldn't be already implemented in the custom ROMs?
You didn't even have to open a new thread about it,
there is a perfectly good thread about Cob's GB MIUI.

Razorblade81 is right, you will have to wait the official SE update. it's due to begin august.
one particular dev has supposedly gotten it working

It works on lower resolution with camera illusion app for camera & videocam illusion for camcorder
Also you can install a dual boot 2.1 rom to use its fully working camera & camcorder along with the gb miui rom
If you want a fully working gingerbread camera, just wait till SE released official gingerbread for x10i on august.

Supposedly, one particular dev had the bootloader unlocked.
Don't bother with words. Until something is released, it's just talk.
Best bet for the camera is to wait until SE releases GB.
Can't wait!
i just had a friend install cm9 rom for his xperia x8..and was wondering if it would work on dell streak...streak wins if compared with x8s hardware right???so if i could get any help...thanxs in advance
Read around the forum there are all kinds of driver issues.
unexpectedly a working cm7 came around. just so you know. read more about it in the corresponding threads here in the forums.
There is some hope of a CM9 port. A user from the korean forum where the CM7 port originated said the following on XDA:

Three developers were tries to make a CM9. They has a their own version of CM9 test rom. I don't know now they uses hPa's data but they were trying to make it.

They meet number of problems and they try to solve it. and I don't know both roms relationship but there is a closed test version of CM9 made by hPa.

EDIT:
Here's some more information about CM9 (and a link to source files for a test rom!), from the creator of the CM7 port:

I have ever been complied CM9. Touch, Vibration, Wifi, Sensor, Bluetooth(with some problems), Audio, RIL(Only MMS doesn't work.), GPS are work. (without Hardware Accelation)
At that time, I used config files from CM7.
mediafire s3dvjw58kpw9by2 <- cm9dev file
Kernel is also based on CM7.
You know that HWA needs modifying gpu driver and many other sources.
And now I don't have streak any more. So CM9 work is stopped...

Hey,
I have a big problem:
I have brought the Galaxy S3 i9300 one week ago. I really don't like the stock rom so I rooted and flashed cm10.1. I really like stock vanilla Android. Everything works really smooth and stable. But when I try to launch the camera is appears this error: Camera error and under this: Can't connect to the camera. (Look at Attachments) I really need a camera and this is just
First I was thinking it was Cm but then I flashed other Roms (Supernexus, Paranoid, ...) and everytime the same. Only in Xperian Ze and Omega Rom the camera works but on those roms its the stock camera. I also tried to install a third party cam.app.
So now I don't know what to do. Is this only on my S3 or is it on someone elses.
And is there any way so flash the stock camera app or to fix this bug.
This is a well known problem.
I would recommend you start here first:

You have to enter the code in a Samsung stock rom. It does not work in CM.
P.S. Hit the "Thanks" button if I was of any help...

That's very odd.
The post contains pretty much all known camera firmwares for SGS3!
If I was you I would try and google "i9300 camera firmware XXYYNN" with the code you have and see if anybody else got the same.

i9300 camera is a nightmare
I've run various custom roms on my original Galaxy S, an SII and now an SIII and I have never had as much frustration with any of them as I have had with the S3 camera. Like the original poster, I prefer AOSP over Samsung firmware. Even if you replace touchwiz with a different launcher it seems clunkier and less responsive than a pure Google rom. AOKP is my favourite, it's just got all my favourite features. But I've come to the conclusion that Samsung know best how to drive Samsung firmware. As much as I love AOKP when they declare a rom version "stable" or a "milestone" this is the status of the rom before it is grafted onto specific devices, which means hardware and driver issues can still arise.
All of which means if you want all your hardware to work go for a rom built on Samsung firmware. Omega rom is pretty good, but not perfect. It always starts out good for me and then gets laggy. And then I want to try AOKP again. And I do. And the camera is still crud... and so the infinite loop begins again.
use camera jb+
