Hello gang!
Just had my Asus Eee Pad Transformer Chromatics skin come in from Phantom Skinz and wanted to show you how it looks on the Asus Transformer. Posted a quick little video for you to see below. Overall I am happy with it. Give it a solid 8 out of 10. Adds a new flair to the device and looks very crisp and clean. If whats not your thing they also have it in black:

How hard was it to apply? Does the dock peel the skin after inserting it?
That looks pretty cool.I've just ordered one myself. Thanks for the share.

I installed the black version a few days ago. It plays nice with the dock - I have to manually slide the lock switch after instering the Transformer, but otherwise no issues.
I'd give the chromatics skin a 6/10. Love the clear Phantom Skinz screen protector, and the chromatics skin is cut from high quality 3M automotive skinning vinyl, but the pieces are too small (they have left too much border to ease installation) which allows quite a bit of the bronze case color to show through.
This bothers me more than most, probably. I'm keeping the skin on because it looks okay and will provide excellent protection.

Well said and agree with you on all points. Also not a fan of the front facing stickers that go on the side, feel a little disconnected from the rest, but still overall I think its cool and I feel a little better knowing my Transformer is safer from damage.

I don't have the dock so not sure. But according to others they have no issue. Applying it was real easy, just takes a little time to make sure you line it all up.

Received my screen protector and white phantom skin. Both are great.Fitted well apart from one piece which wasnt cut correctly.I emailed the company and they agreed to send me a replacement piece.Great customer service, would highly recommend.Agree about the front facing stickers that go on the side,so i didn't fit them, still looks awsome.
The only issue i had is that the skin fitted makes docking the tablet a little bit harder.I have to shuffle the tablet back and forth to get it to dock correctly.

Is it 3M vinyl? I got some white carbon fiber vinyl which are very poor quality.
I made my own skin.

Just bought one from BodyGuardz in carbon fiber white, anybody else have any experiences?
http://www.bodyguardz.com/carbon-fiber-asus-eee-pad-transformer-bundle.html
I also used the coupon "guard" to get $3 off.
i was thinking about getting one of these. Does it interfere with the dock or alter wifi reception by any chance?
i have no clue but I can post when I get it later this week.
Seems like its pretty thin. Looks pretty slick. I wouldn't mind a white one but $30 is a big gamble.

Ill post pics when I get it, I just love the feel of carbon fiber.
white looks good...in theory. once you have it on, and there's black lines sticking out form the original case, it looks a bit off. i'd recommend to go with the black.

I get all my skinz and screen protectors from Pantom Skinz. The white carbon looks siiik on the Transformer. The skinz are so good that I had to RMA my first TF and I just peeled the skin from the back and reapplied it to the new TF and I was golden. There worth every penny I think. The skins are from 3M so there good quality. Here are some pics of mine. I've used just about every screen protector out there on my EVO 4G and Viewsonic g-tablet and the Phantom Skinz is by far the best IMO. The screen protector for the TF is so thin and releases all the bubbles so well that it's like it doesn't even have one on. It's that good. The screen protectors for tablets also have a protective cap sheet so once all of your bubbles are gone you just remove it and it's so clear on your TF that you can't even tell it's there.

wow! That looks OEM mate. Very slick
I had one from Skinomi on my iPad 2 and it was quite hard to peel off when I got rid of the iPad.
It did look great and protected the iPad.
Does it interfere with docking?
Nice, reminds me of what I did on my nexus S, but that was custom made by me, just bought the 3M sticker.
I may look it up and see how much it'd be.

The large skin fits well on the length but is too short on the height (short). The extra trim pieces are just flat out wrong. one piece has two holes that appear tobe for on/off and volume rocker but both holes are the same size and the holes are not placed in the right location. There just appears to be no human testing the pieces, or someone thinks the skin fits multiple tablets. It is a shame since technology exists for a perfect fit. With such a bad economy one could easily excel in the business with just providing perfection. Phantom skin is not the one, look elsewhere.

I have the Skinomi Skin and it's thin enough where you can completely lock the tablet into the dock.
The switch doesn't slide all the way to the lock position when mounting it, but you can give the switch a slight push to lock it in.
I originally had the SGP skin, and it's too thick, so the switch will not slide over to the lock position.
If you don't mind having to push the switch over manually, it's not a problem.
I had a Transformers Autobots logo decal on my netbook for the longest time... I thought it was sorta cute, at 'least until the new Transformer movies came out.
Anyway, the ASUS Transforer's textured back is too rough for for any larger decal like that (such a shame, wouldve been perfect on it given the name and form factor!), same with the dock; but I had this smaller Android decal laying around and after some measuring I realized it was perfect for the dock's edge/hinge, and voila...
I bought it over a year ago when I got a full sized Andy for my car's rear window, but if anyone else wants the exact same decal for their TF I can dig into my email and figure out where I ordered it from.
You can get skins made that fit on the textured back fine and you can submit any picture you like for uploading on the decal. In theory they are meant to non-copyright images but I am sure that is to cover their as#'s and they don't really check - trust me ;o). Google Zagg - zaggskins. I put on some really cool artwork on my tab's skin and now it looks awesome. Just a shame that they don't have one for the dock. Not cheap but to protect and customise a $500 tab it's worth it.
Had a spare sticker, so chucked this on.
Not been into a StarBucks with it to get funny looks yet, hopefully no-one from Gizmodo is on the prowl.
The glow effect is just the camera flash. Sticks on fairly well, but if it peels off? meh, I'll not be fussed.
Nice, now youre a kool kat. I wanna add a turtle head and limbs to match the texture
I'm not sure Zagg skins would work on the ASUS tablet, the back isn't just textured, it's downright full of dents... It's hard to explain, but you could easily puncture or poke into anything stuck on the back as the grooves (more like shell marks) are fairly significant. I kinda like the unique look tho, feels alright on the hand and doesn't get dirty or scoff easily.
Any skins or decals will work fine. The texture of the dock is the same as the tablet. I have used 3M Dinoc on mine and it sticks just fine. I did both the tablet and dock.
Here is the tablet, dock is the same but without the bee and android name.

Zagg skins work fine on the back (or anywhere else). I put mine on my transformer a week ago no probs at all - the dents are not a problem (like a golf ball) it won't peirce or tear they are strong and designed for it. Don't worry go for it looks awesome.
I have a carbon fiber back on my tab. Looks like Bohemian's but without the bee or "android."

If directed to me, then no not at all. I even slide it in to my case fine and nothing has peeled up. There is a little slither of the back that isn't covered, but it isn't noticeable. I only know about it because I'm the one that put it on

If directed at me the Zagg skin is fine and not peeling around the edges at all - my girlfriend has had one on her phone for a year + and no probs at all. Regarding the invisible shield on the screen - a little harder to apply and all comes down to your initial application (have done shed loads of them so I am all good with mine) - but it has a lifetime warranty anyway - so if it went crap or starts to peel pull it off send it back and get a replacement - you " had to get your device serviced "
I have an Intel Core i7 badge on the palmrest of my dock. I would take a picture and show it but everyone should know what the badge looks like
i'm thinking about getting a CF Skin, are they pretty easy to take off? i wonder if it leaves a plastic residue
Gorilla Glass is tough but not scratch proof, as my wife's Samsung Infuse got 2 very noticeable scratches on it before installing an SGP protector.
I wanted to protect the Prime's screen as well, but when using a screen protector on this device, the fit is really tight when inserting and removing it from the keyboard dock. It causes the dock to smudge the protector as it pushes on it when inserted. The solution for me was to just cut a small section off where the dock presses against he Prime. Now it works great, no smudges or scratches and the dock is much easier to put on and take off now.

I have attached pics of what I did as it will pretty much be required for any screen protector if you plan on using one in conjunction with he dock. I emailed Skinomi these pics and they said they are making a modified one for the dock, and will be sending me one for free once they are done, for notifying them of the issue. Hopefully more screen protector manufacturers take note of this issue as well. I am personally waiting for SGP to release their protectors for the Prme, especially the anti-glare type.

FYI, I used a thin-film screen protector (this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0066PGLWO/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details ) with my TFP and it fits perfectly fine with the dock.
I'm hesitant for any solution that involves cutting away the film at the dock connector -- it seems like that's the area that will receive the most frequent hard and tight contact as well as constant abrasion and rokcing, so it will be most likely to have some grit or something scratch the screen.
Hey Arm, haven't seen you around since I was drooling all over your crazy rig. The build info helped me get through my own build, although I didn't document it well enough to warrant posting. Wanted to make sure I thanked you for that first.
Anyway, great idea with cutting the skin. I was considering that myself until I saw a post by "insane111" mentioning a work around. Inside the dock there is a soft lining on both sides to prevent scratching the dock. He removed the strip from the side with the screen and cleaned with alcohol to remove the remaining residue. After getting my Zagg and having the problems everyone is with repeated removal I followed suit and now it slides in and out great.
Just an alternative, wanted to spread the word. Hope it helps out.

Thanks for the shout out on my rig. Did you see the most recent update with the two 580 Hydro Coppers in SLI? I'm going to have to re-do a few things in the near future since I have to RMA my MoBo. USB controller is on its way out on the X58 Classified.

I thought about removing the pad on the dock, but decided against it because I didn't want to alter the tablet or dock in any way, in case I end up selling it at some point. And I don't want it to be loose when docking if I decided to remove the Carbon Fibre skin. Both methods work, just depends on user preference.
I had a poetic case for my Nexus 7 and I love it. Any news in poetic offerings for the Shied Tablet?
Their eta is 15th September.
Which poetic case are you referring too? I emailed them a few days ago and they responded saying they didn't have any plans for the flip case style (slimline), but only making a silicone skin case.

Here are a couple I've found in my daily browsing, both the Turtle Series and Revolution series, though middle of next month to end of next month pending which one.

I ordered this one yesterday and it looks very much like the Poetic Slimline cases. I'll have to see how it works after it arrives, though, but the price is hard to beat and I like that it offers some drop protection for the corners.

I couldn't find a better thread, so I was hoping for assistance here. I just got the revolution case, but the screen protector on the inside has an oily sheen when it presses against the screen. Any suggestions on the best way to remove that after popping the tablet back out of the case? It is bad enough that it impacts the display quality significantly.
Thanks!

The screen protector is glued on to the inside of the front frame so you can heat it up with a blow dryer or a heat gun then pry it up at a corner and peel it back. Otherwise you can take a razor and just cut around the opening of the frame and it should do the trick.

Oh! I'm sorry, I was not specific enough. I was hoping to clear off the oily sheen effect, not actually removing the screen protector. Thank you though for those steps.
pretty sure the sheen is the screen protector material itself and not some kind of coating. The oldschool ballistic cases used to do this and one of the possible solutions was to sprinkle some baby powder on it to prevent it from sticking.
A trick that worked for the Otterbox on my wife's Galaxy S3 might work here as well:
First clean the display and the inside of the screen protector. Get some baby powder and while leaving the top closed shake up the container to get the powder into a fine dust inside. Take the screen protector and hold it above the shaken baby powder bottle(?), open the top of the powder and squeeze the bottle so a powder cloud comes out and slightly dusts the inside of the screen protector.
Put the case back together and hopefully the oily film is gone. Clean/Repeat as necessary.
There are videos on YouTube showing this solution. Some use the powder on the device, I think it's wiser to do it on the case/screen protector.

Hi guys,
one thing that annoys me is the rounded back of the nexus. When you lay it on the table it turns left and right when scrolling onehandedly....this is really nerveracking.
At the moment I use one of them TPU cases but this has the same rounding and thus the same turning.
Are there any (non-flip) covers that tackle this?
Cheers
check out the ringke fusion case. I love it and solved that issue for me
look at diztronic case, is not totally flat but helps to make N6 more stable
http://www.amazon.it/Diztronic-Matt...=1449071789&sr=8-1&keywords=diztronic+nexus+6
Cheers guys...but both cases are rounded too, how does it solve it?
The Poetic Revolution has a flat back. It has some pegs on the inside back wall that are holding the phone in place. Great case, except for the flat buttons but you can get used to those.
I had this one...
http://www.amazon.com/Evocel®-Prote...merchant-items&ie=UTF8&qid=1450211642&sr=1-31
Makes the phone flat, but pretty bulky, and no longer feels like a luxury item in this case.
Hi guys, thanks again for all those tips....
Got myself this one now :
Nillkin Slim Armor Bumper Rahmen-Schutzhülle, stoßfest, für Google Nexus, 6 https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00T2R9V7A/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_hnACwb693RZ0W
It is perfect, no rocking and turning, the phone lies firmly on those two bars running from the backsides' top to bottom.
Only downside is that you now can see the white back case which I bought accidently but kept.

The Ringke FUSION has a ring around the nexus logo that effectively stabilizes the phone. It is not perfectly stable, but ends up being fine for light usage of the phone when it's laying on a table. See this picture (found via google image search) for a better view of how it works.

Is that frame around the Nexus-Word indented? If so then yes, that should indeed work as well.
I'm sure someone could 3D print a case with enough incentive. I would pay decent money for a case that flattens the phone so I wouldn't have to give up my airdock

Indeed. If it had a matte soft touch feel (like the Nexus5), and if it filled in the curves without adding much height to the hump on the back, that'd be great. It'd be thin in the middle, thicker on the sides of the back where the curve goes up.
The problem with the Nillkin Slim Armor Bumper is that it does add some height above the back area. If it had half the height off the back, it'd still be a fine case. Sometimes I'm tempted to find a belt sander and smooth it down a bit on my own.
Evocel and Ranz on amazon are both flat backs
That Ranz case is the worst piece of crap I ever bought. I threw it away immediately after I got it.
