Hi folks,
I'm a complete Android noob having recently switched to a Galaxy S2. I was hoping someone could tell me if it's possible and/or how to remove core apps such as the Samsung hub apps?
My phone is running the Lite'ning Rom, is it a simple case of installing a certain app or does it involve messing around with the Rom itself?
Cheers
Titanium backup pro requires root .

You need to have root access, search the threads you will find tutorials on here for it, easy enoough done . Once your phone is rooted you can then download root uninstaller from the market "free" or titanium backup, and can select and uninstall which apps you dont need.
Thanks guys, that's a great help

Hi guys, I just found that I can install Non-market apps on my non-rooted non-s-off GSM E3D via a third party computer suite(with unkown source checked).
I was surprised as I thought without root I can't install non-market apps & games.
So my question is: Is root absolutely required if I want to side load game & apps I downloaded in my computer? Confused.
Sorry for mentioning Ck'ed app, how do I edit the title then?

No discussion of warez allowed on forums. Cracked apps = warez
But to answer your question, root is not necessary to install apps.

Needless to say you're probably not aware of Amazon's apps, or the spy ware infested apps at some sites. Appbrain is available as an alternative site, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983859.
So this is the affect of apple's closed app store policy, "guilt by inference".
I thought root was required because I was tring to use titanium backup to restore apps from my HD2 and it pops up saying that I need to have root.
Now I can wait more time for the s-off + root then.

I think that is because you need root to backup application data..
OP: With android, you can install any APK you find online.
Android can write to data, while other apps can only write to data for that app only. TB is trying to write other apps data, this is why it fails.

Questions
1) After rooting with this method if I do factory reset, is there any bad things about that(errors etc.)? also is factory reset a methot for unroot. or device will be rooted after reset
2) Can I use PC compainion or SEUS for new releases?
3) is there a method as simple as this root methot for unrooting
Thanks for helping the noob
1) No. No. Yes
2) Yes, but after update by SEUS/PCC you'll lost root
3) Unroot - just updating by SEUS/PCC or by flasher
Thanks a lot...
Neo has been rooted and that method works like a charm...
now I need some aditional info.. as I searched I need some apps after rooting to make sense of root
1 Super User (installed)
2 AddFree (installed)
3 Root explorer
4 Titanium Backup
Now I need to find
5 an uninstaller for restricted apps like lets golf!
6 an app2sd software can move restricted apps ...
any advicesfor 5-6 and if there is another usefull apps ?

i use RootExplorer to to make some changes in file system of phone (such as change fonts, graphic, simple mods, delete unuseful files-system ringtones wallpapers etc.)
TitaniumBackup to make backup of installed soft. and after that - i delete unuseful applications (Golf, Chineese keyboard, PoboxTouch with its skins, PlayNow, WisePilot, Uefa etc.) all that can be done with Titanium.
what about app2cd - it isn't necessary program (imho) - you can move applications to cdcard in preferences.
but please remember - be sure that you make backup, before you decide to make some changes with filesystem))
in My country market is not enabled so I installed the market enabler app
but after necessarry settings(tried US Tmobile) I can see payable content but when I try to buy there is an error like that
" the item was not found which you are trying to buy"
What can I do to solve?
Hi all,
I am noob from Serbia . I have one question, i uninstalled some applications that come with phone installed, but after phone shut down, they install automatic on my phone.
Is there any way to stop this? or root is the only solution?
Best regards,
noob
You have to root and use titanium backup to uninstall them
But be careful with the apps that you remove, there's a thread saying which apps are safe to remove.
Thanks jpcosta, I want to remove apps like Foursqare, whatapp, uefa, mcafee antivirus. But I have 62 firmaware so its not possible to root with this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346198, i think that is the most easy way.
Cheers

remove them from the rom if its a custom rom and install
If stock you will need to root and remove on the phone system /apps
Or use TB to freeze or uninstall .
If you remove an essential app then your phone may not boot .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1634624
already used a debloater but it didnt remove these.
then you used it wrong in some way .

Probably a dumb newb question but If you do this and the phone won't boot, is it bricked forever or can you get it back somehow?
If you install cwm you can make a back up before you touch anything.
Or you could just install the stock Rom for your phone if you get stuck, but that would mean starting from scratch.
In regards to removing apps there are lists stating what apps are safe to remove.

Thanx for help dude
remove default browser?
I have a Galaxy S3 (stock Ice Cream Sandwich) and chrome installed.
Is it OK to remove the standard web browser in order to force all apps that open URLs to use chrome instead?

You dont need to remove the default browser to do that..just make Chrome your default browser..
if you really don't want to use it, just disable in app info. setting-application-all- find your app then disable.

In order to remove stock apps, you first need to root your phone, then install titanium backup, it gives u the option. To either freeze or delete an app. If u not sure if an app should be deleted u can freeze it first to see what effect this has. The paid version allows u to batch restore. Any updates to your firmware will replace any stock apps u deleted. U can install rom manager to backup your ROM.

Hey guys, (yes my device is rooted)
I downloaded greneenify app and I wanted to hybernate apps such facebook, maps etc. just any system app I want to. But you can't do that when these apps are system apps which they are. So I wanted to put them as user apps but I don't know how to do so. I'm using titanium backup and there's only an option to make an app system app not the other way around. I was searching for some apps I could use for my purpose and I've found one but I need busybox to make it work and I'm having issue with installing it. Everytime I try to install busybox it ends up with restarting my cellphone and that's all. I've tried out two different busybox apps but none of them really worked. My majer problem and goal is to make those apps as user apps and not busybox, but if that means I do need busybox for making so, any advice is appericated, thank you.
