Hey there
The Hacker Bubu just released the Gen8 Boot Menu (Gen7 too)
He is part of the OpenAos Archos Hacker/Modder Community
You need to install the SDE and install a kind of Rom/Custom Firmware on your Archos Gen8 Device and after that you have the Boot Menu
This allow us to boot multible Os like Android Urukdroid Angström Chromium Os Cyanogen...
At the moment the website is offline, dont know why..
but the website is: http://www.openaos.org
What do you think? Do you think this gona help us? Do you'll install it?
Let me know
Thanks:
Charbax <<The Archos Head>> for released the info on his page
I think the 2 biggest Archos communitys "Xda (Archos Section)" and "OpenAos" should work more hand-in-hand, shouldnt they?
More Developers = Better Roms (And other stuff)
Greetz & Thankz,
Lenn
What's the difference between this boot menu and the boot menu in the SDE? SDE allows you to boot between stock firmware and 1 other OS. Does this other boot menu allow you to boot between more than 2 at a time?
Supposed to be... But I haven't been able to reach openaos website yet ... down or too busy ?

I think too busy, because right after Charbax post this openaos.org was down
Do you'll test it?
Sure I will if I have enough time!
You can boot multiple rootfs with multiboot, but it all uses the same kernel to boot those.
The kernel is the one from archos gpl with some adjustments and available on gitorious.
There will also be the initramfs sources.

Sounds good as we are using this kernel for Uruk
I would like to try it just in case I want to try booting debian or openAOS or even a testbuild of cyanogenmod

If this boot menu means we can get Cyanogenmod on our Archos, I would be overjoyed.

If it works on the 101 it works on the 70, and it's called GEN8 Dual Boot so it's for all gen8 devices

Yep youre right but in developement gen8 is just 43-101 because the smaller devices have other cpus and other hardware specs, so most of the dev stuff for "gen8" dont work on 28&34

Please read this before start asking questions
1.Android is in testing development.
2.Is not working fully.
3.You can't install Android in your phone.
4.You can run Android in your phone with Haret and see how it look but:
5.There are no working wifi, bluetooth, phone calls, battery, usb conection, ac charger connection and many other things....
6.All drivers and kernel are still under construction.
7.Now you know that Android is not working fully in our phone.
8.If you still want help and test build that is OK.
Now to run Android properly in your phone !
1.Download any of the builds we have around here.
2.Do backup on your sdcard or if you have additional one use this one.
3.Extract the file with android in your sdcard.
4. Check all the files are inside (sdcard/Android/AndroidApps"folder", media"folder",root"folder",clrcad"file",rootfs"fil e",startup"file",system"file",zImage"file",initrd" file")
5. If you want you can take everything from Android folder and pest it in root of the sdcard but you have to change default text (set cmdline"rel_path=Android change to set cmdline"rel_path=" or set cmdline"rel_path=sdcard") tri with one if is not working try with the other one. I thing the best is leave all files and folder in default Android folder and just copy this folder to your sdcard.
6.Check your zImage and Startup is for Toshidroid :OP (TG01).
7.First RUN haret without CLRCAD.
8.It take no more than10 min to run for the first time.
9. If it take more time RESTART the phone by pressing the POWER BUTTON for 10/20 sec it will restart and back to windows.
11.Try to do the same one more time.
12.If it still not booting to Android and you receive any error messages. Check your sdcard if there is space left in it. Check error message if it say that it can find some file or it can't create a data.
13. Delete everything from your sdcard and format it to fat32.
14.Start from the beginning.
15. If it still not booting to Android then check if you have all files and all set how it has to be.
16. Don't forget you can broke your phone. And we are not responsible for any damage you cause to your phone.
17.It is all up to you.
19. If I forget something sorry about just ask there are other memebers who will try to help you if they can.
20. Sorry for my English mistakes. I'm trying to fix them. :OP
Thanks to all people who try their best to make that possible: Markinus, Arash18k,Bally3,Endrix,Nyl,Arnookie and all other.

The android screen (1.5 cupcake) on Tosh TG01 was taken from intomobile.com
There is no android for HD2 or Acer F1/s200 (and these phones have bigger community) so I don't think someone here will run android on TG01 until it comes for one of these two mentioned above...
you are right..
however I have googled and found these.
http://htcandroid.xland.cz/
http://xdandroid.southcape.org/
I am not into programing but it might give some head start to who want to make it happpen..
I don't know how to go about porting android to TG01, but I'm looking into it... don't know if it will go anywhere but what the hell, it's worth a try.

Don't know much about Android. But I think Haret is only a bootloader. You still need the Android files to boot.

Yep Haret kills the WinMo kernel to boot another one, i've got the Xperia X10 and Acer Liquid Kernels source code, so i'm going to build them just to see how far it will go and hopefully create a starting point for Android on TG01
Just to keep you updated, i'm not getting anyware for the moment, but i'm not giving up, if anyone has got any info on building a linux kernel for snapdragon please post it
Google Nexus one, acer liquid and many other devices have Snapdragon and Android.
If it's found some info about linux kernel on them, it would be a good starting point, don't you think?
EDIT: I've just google a little and found this:
NEXUS ONE KERNEL POSTED
Cyanogen has developed a web for developing nexus one kernel. So, maybe, you can find something there.
Here you can find a kernel for Nexus One
And here you can find the kernel source for the Acer Liquid

Has anyone got any idea on how to find the 'RAMADDR' and 'RAMSIZE' for haret ?
these are for HTC diamond witch has 192 mb ram
set RAMSIZE 0x7800000
set RAMADDR 0x10000000
Yeah but it is specific to every phone... so I either somebody already know them, or I need a way to find them..
To encourage developers and users to switch to the new xRecovery, I prepared a package that allows dual-booting between custom ROM and stock firmware. This is just a proof of concept, I am not going to develop it further nor support it as usual project release. Instead, I hope that developers will find many useful things inside to use in their own pojects
It also may be useful for people using 2.3 ROMs without camera/camcorder.
Tested with: FreeX10 beta4, Woflbreak's CM, AOSP 2.3
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:
- it works from NAND rather than SD Card - should not suffer fom performance issues
- it will work with any custom 2.2/2.3 ROM of reasonable size
- it WON'T work with custom 2.1 ROMs - not enough storage space
- it uses 200MB of your /system and 256MB of your /data partition - make sure you've got enough free space
- it requires xRecovery 1.0.0 (the old one doesn't allow custom boot)
- it cannot be accessed via recovery, but it's possible to mod it to do so (devs/adv.users)
- it works with baseband 49/52!
- if you back up your system with nandroid backup, the 2.1 ROM will be included in this backup

It does work. But it's not pretty. I played with both /system and /data being stored on SD Card, but the system suffered from terrible freezes/"x stopped responding" (like FreeX10 alpha). Also, first boot took around 7-8min.

Yes!
also people reading the article on the portal, the tool does not use fast flash commands, it uses the dd method for those flashes, when i add kernel flashing and backing up your device as .img files then i will be adding fastboot flash commands, so yes, the flashes occur when your device is booted!
Can I ask what version of TWRP is installed, is it the latest?

i am almost finished updating the tool i will include it in the next update!! but you could more then likely find them in the general section!
ok cheers, no problem. Will wait for the new version to be up, no rush. Thanks for your commitment to provide a tool for us noobs/lazy people!
Would you recommend running your tool before first boot?
Just a few questions: when there is <waiting for device> for 5 minutes, that seems like my drivers are wrong? It was possible to unlock, but not to install a recovery, so i am trying to update my drivers...
And can i run the tool and select unlock, install recovery and root even when my device is already unlocked?

Dualboot
General info
System files (/system) are installed on the HIDDEN partition () so they DON'T conflict with CyanogenMod 10.2 ROM.
I use CyanogenMod Kernel with no modifications, all dualboot stuff is based on initramfs (indeed is based on Siyahkernel approach).
How to dual-boot
It's a rudimentary mechanism so far. You have to: adb shell, and type (no matter where ROM you are):
If you want to boot into CM10.2 - Note: If you don't have installed CM10.2, please don't do this!!:
Code:
# cr.sh 1
If you want to boot into FirefoxOS - Note: it can be any number different from 1, i.e: cr.sh 3, cr.sh 5:
Code:
# cr.sh 2
Your device will reboot in this very moment, and will boot into the selected ROM.
The first time, FirefoxOS ROM will be booted by default.
Downloads
I'm providing a CWM installable .zip so you can test it without having to build the whole system.
File: ffos-sgs2-jb-22-Feb-2014.zip

Installing
Boot into recovery mode with CWM.
Make a backup (as always).
Save your backup in other place than your device (no matter what partition you are using), please.
adb push ffos-sgs2-jb-version-2014.zip /emmc
Install zip from sdcard
Insall zip from internal sdcard
Select the .zip file
Install it!!!

In case you want to go further and compile everything from scratch, I would suggest you to see my G+ post with detailed instructions on how to build it by yourself.
Of course, all my work is available under my Github account.
Features at a glance:
Dual boot with CM10.2 (if you have installed it)
Rooted
Adb Insecure
FirefoxOS v1.4
What's not working:
Flickering graphics
Camera
Mobile data
Wifi on i777
Hardware Home button on i777
Do not expect a very stable version!
Thanks to
Cyanogenmod, cause it's amazing work on this device despite Samsung, I'm using your kernel.
Siyahkernel, cause my dualboot solution is inspired by yours.
All the people helped me testing very first releases, risking their devices .
Enjoy!

The first .zip I provided was wrong, if this is the one you've installed (it's less than 100 Mb) download the new one (just click in the link) and install it again.
Nice work mate! Much appreciated
No, i have this issuses on ffox-sgs2-jb-14-Jan-2014.zip, size 197mb
I install 2x, wipe, format itd
I run again FF OS, same black screen, no desktop but i have sms notifikation, but can't i touch this ;/
This ROM is missing the data file and that is why no desktop comes up.

Working on it! I can't give you a date right now. I'll probably fix the camera first, release a new updated version (Gaia/Gecko) and then fix the mobile data.
Stay tunned

Where does it say you need cm 10.1?
All the instructions are in the first post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49484692&postcount=1
If you want dualboot (it's not mandatory) you cannot install CM10.2 after installing ffos.zip, cause the boot.img (zImage on SGS2) I modifed would be overwritten with the one from CyanogenMod, wich is not dualbootable.
So:
1º - Install CM10.2
2º - Install FFOS

Oh! I only have a I9100 for testing
You'll have to try and cross your fingers
Anyway, if you can install CM10.2 you could proably run FFOS without problems..

Introduction
This is a port of Tassadar's MultiROM, a multi-boot mod for OnePlus 2. The main part of MultiROM is a boot manager, which appears every time your device starts and lets you choose ROM to boot. You can see how it looks on the left image below and in gallery. ROMs are installed and managed via modified TWRP recovery. You can use standard ZIP files to install secondary Android ROMs and MultiROM even has its own installer system, which can be used to ship other Linux-based systems.
This is still very experimental!
Features:
Multiboot any number of Android ROMs
Restore nandroid backup as secondary ROM
Warning!
It _is_ dangerous. This whole thing is basically one giant hack - none of these systems are made with multibooting in mind. It is no longer messing with data partition or boot sector, but it is possible that something goes wrong and you will have to flash factory images again. Make backups. Always.
Installation
Firstly, there are videos on youtube. If you want, just search for "MultiROM installation" on youtube and watch those, big thanks to all who made them. There is also an awesome article on Linux Journal.
MultiROM has 3 parts you need to install:
Modified recovery (TWRP_multirom_oneplus2_YYYYMMDD.img) - download the IMG file from second post and use fastboot/recovery to flash it.
Patched kernel - You can use either one of the stock ones in second post or third-party kernels which include the patch.
Download the ZIP file and flash it in recovery.
MultiROM (multirom-YYYYMMDD-vXX-oneplus2.zip) - download the ZIP file from second post and flash it in recovery.
Note: Your current ROM will not be erased by the installation.
Download links are in the second post.
Adding ROMs
1. Android
Go to recovery, select MultiROM -> Add ROM. Select the ROM's zip file and confirm.
Updating ROMs
1. Primary ROM/Internal
Flash ROM's ZIP file as usual, do factory reset if needed (it won't erase secondary ROMs)
Go to MultiROM in recovery and do Inject current boot sector.
2. Secondary Android ROMs
If you want to change the ROM, delete it and add new one. To update ROM, follow these steps:
Go to MultiROM and select the ROM you want to update.
Select "Flash ZIP" and flash ROM's ZIP file.
Changing ROMs
A kernel with the kexec-hardboot patch does not exist as of yet. It is being worked upon by me.
Hence for now, please use the recovery to swap the ROMs

Awesome Regal !!! I also made my multirom for op2 some days ago but wasn't able to build kernel too.... Thus didn't make thread.... See the commits for our kernel on github.com/multirom-op2
Looks like a problem at ramoops ... Everything else is perfect....

So question...is there any way to share app data or such between Roms? Possibly a noob question but still gonna ask ?
