Im on Miuiwiz 1.1 and everything was cool, then i flashed the mms patch and i started receiving 2 of every message. I checked to make sure my other notifications were turned off, i downloaded chompsms and turned off everything else and chomp gets 2 of every message. If i turn chomp off and use the stock mms it still has double messages. Ive done some research and ive seen it just something that happens on the carrier end. I can try wiping and starting over but i figured id ask here first.
Thanks

When on a call, my phone reads texts aloud when I am on a call. I am using handcent. How can I turn this off? I cannot find the setting for this anywhere....
interesting indeed. never head of this before.
have you checked the Handcent Forum?
Post the fix if you ever find it.
Turns out it isnt handcent. I uninstalled it & it is still happening. I am going to try to reflash Bionix 1.3.1... The strange part is it only happens DURING phone calls. So whoever I am talking to can actually here the text to speech of my received text message.
Its happen with my phone
I checked and toggled the driving mode and also changed the Settings-Call Settings-All calls-Alert , but still its happening.
Also lot more people have confirmed this annoying feature over here

Any help, I thought many would have experienced here on xda. Please help.
Hi guys
It has happened twice now that my phone has started receiving an MMS prior to every SMS that comes in. The MMS is empty and it comes from "unknown".
The first time a couple of weeks ago, I was on the phone for 14 hours to fix it; re-installed everything on it including flashing SBF's and starting clean. Nothing helped. After a day the issue magically took care of itself.
Now it started again, 4-5 days ago. I have installed everything fresh (SBF to 1.2.6, 1.5.7 OTA & 1.8.3 OTA), did a factory reset & formated both internal & external storage space; issue still there on an absolutely stock phone. Called the helpdesk of my provider as well, they've never heard of the issue before.
On a desperate attempt to fix it I accidentally removed the messaging apk, took a good while to find one again..
Does anyone have any other ideas I can try? Please, it's driving me mad..

Thanks for your help. I found it easier to start a less congested thread with all the background summarized. Hope I didn't crush the internet by doing so..
Are you using Handcent or Chomp? Is whatever you are using your "default" message app? I was getting duplicate MMS messages until I went into my actual contact list, selected a contact, then tried to send a message to them, it then prompted me to select my message app. I am using Handcent, so I selected Handcent and put a check mark in use as default. I no longer have the problem. Hope this helps...

Thanks for your reply, I am using Chomp sms and it is the default messaging app. It's not that though, I am receiving an empty MMS 5-10 seconds before every SMS I receive. It was the first thing I tried when I returned to stock as I describe above, issue was there. Immensely frustrating..
Bumping this up, need urgently advise as I'm about to throw the damn thing out the window..
Just spoke with the o2 helpdesk, there's nothing they can see /. They have now shut off my data connection, I have disabled all data and I am still getting that fckng MMS!!!
Update: Solved. Got a new SIM. Or that I asked them to freeze my data connection & the new SIM kick-started it again & removed the issue. Goes to show again the incompetence of (many) helpdesk agents; they insisted it was phone related..
Edit: I disabled handscent from being my default messaging app and now they're all starting to show up.
I woke up this morning to two missed calls, both of which had left voicemails and realized that I didn't have a voicemail notification nor a visual voicemail. The only way I knew was because I had received a text from Handscent telling me I had a VM. I tried sending a VM already to [email protected] but nothing happened.
Any idea on what might be going on? I got my friend to call me a few times and leave VM's, and I checked to make sure that my WiFi was off and my internet was working but I still didn't get any proper notifications. I had it work before though, wondering if it's Handscent that's causing the issue?
Ok, I've been searching the forums for a few days looking for an answer to this but have been unable to find one. I'm running a rooted X2 with the V6 script and for the past week or so my phone has been weird. I'll get MMS messages one day from one sender and they'll try the next day and it'll never go through, I'm getting this problem from all carriers. I use Handcent but for a few days I uninstalled it and used only the stock text messaging app and still had the same problems. I also, at times will not receive any notification at all that I have an SMS and then when I check my phone I'll have duplicate messages from numerous all come in at once when they've only sent the message one time. So far, the things I've tried are battery pulls, updating roaming capabilities, turning the V6 script off, and using different messaging apps and have been unsuccessful. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this?
There is an ongoing issue with SMS/Kmart messages in another thread. Probably a good idea to merge them. You've tried all the suggestions I would give.
I have recently purchased a new i605, rooted, unlocked, and installed TWRP through Casual. And flashed CM10.2-20130827-Nightly-i605. I finally received my SIM cutter in the mail today, and pulled the full size Straight Talk SIM out of my Skyrocket that I have been using with no issues for almost 2 years, cut the SIM, put it in the Note 2, and entered the APN settings. It is receiving good signal, showing the "H" and "H+" the majority of the time. I can make voice calls, receive voice calls, send/receive MMS, and have good data sending and receiving. My only issue is, I can only receive SMS, and when I try to send (or reply to one already received) I get the "Message not sent" error. I saw a possible fix, of updating your SMSC, but I have no clue how to find what my SMSC is in order to input it, and haven't been able to find it either. I tried editing the way the telephone numbers are stored from +1 250-250-2500, to (250)250-2500, +12502502500, +1 (250)250-2500. I also saw where someone found a fix for their situation, where they had accidentally set Google Voice to send text messages. I went into the settings on my Voice app, and that setting was turned on, so I turned it off. But I am still having the same results when trying to send an SMS.
Does anyone have a clue as to how I can find what my SMSC is, so that I can try that fix for the issue?
Did I post this in the appropriate subsection of the Verizon Note 2 forum?
I'm in the exact same situation you are. Send/receive calls, receive texts but can't send texts. I received a new note 2 through insurance two days ago and did the same process of rooting the phone, except I flashed jedix17 on it. So I'm guessing the problem lies in the roms? I haven't had time to switch roms to see if that fixes it though. I'd like to see if there's an easier alternate solution as well.
Ok, I got to playing with the "fixes" I had already attempted, for a second time. Google Voice was set to send SMS, and I would change the setting in Voice to make the messaging app send SMS. Well, I noticed that after closing Voice, then going back to the settings in Voice, it would be set to Google Voice sending SMS again. So I Force Closed the Voice app, and uninstalled it, and the issue cleared up. I have no idea why the app would be automatically changing it's own settings back, after closing it though.
I see. Then it seems you and I don't have the same root problem. I don't have an alternative texting app, so I guess I'm off to reflash my rom.

Did you figure out your issue? If you flashed Gapps, you may have Voice+. Check in your app drawer just to make sure.
Yeah I have fixed it Thanks for asking (and yeah I did check and I did not have voice). Reflashing the rom did indeed work
