hi i just bought a new SE x10 mini just a days ago. my concern was i want to download lots of apps but my phone memory is limited up to 128mb since i have 2gb sd card i wanted to save my apps to using my sd card. based on what i have read in some forums 2.1 firmware is not capable of saving the downloaded files to your sd card instead it uses your phone built in memory please help.
Thanks
App2SD (FAT partition) is available from Froyo (2.2) and higher, so you can actually use a Froyo ROM, those usually have more stuff working than the Ginberbread ROMs (ie: Camera). I recommend you to use MiniCM 1.0.1
You can also root your phone and use the Ext2/3/4 partition app2sd method, I believe there are some guides around here that can help you, one of the methods is to download Link2SD (free) from the market and create a Ext2 partition on your phone's SD Card, using Link2SD requires root.

You would have to flash a custom 2.1 rom to have apps2sd as well as a 2nd partition on your sd card

Is it possible with APP2SD application on rooted 2.1 original rom with created ext partition on SD card ? has anyone tested it?
1. Backup your SD Card
2. Download Amon Recovery
3. Format your SD Card (32Mb SWAP, 512Mb EXT2, FAT32 rest)
4. Convert EXT2 to EXT3
5. Flash new ROM with APPS2SD support
Hi, can anyone please detail out as to how to get apps2sd installed in my Xperia X10i.
I have Xperia X10i with 2.1. I have installed Z4Root and its rooted through it. How can I move all my apps to SD card. I really need my phone memory to be freedup as many apps like angry birds, tom cat, etc are above 14 meg. I am running short of space.
Please let me know if there are any other ways to get the apps moved to SD Card.
Thanks in advance.
Isn't it possible to make a symlink from flash towards your SD card, so that you can put apps on your sdcard in R2.1?

hi. how do i convert ext2 to ext3 ?
I just installed a custom rom (cyanogen) on my mini pro for the first time and would love if someone would explain how to set up app2sd.
I have previously used link2sd before flashed this rom so i don't know alot about the "official" app2sd set up.
My sd card was already partitioned to work with link2sd, however when i try to move apps to sd via the application settings menu, it says there is not enough memory on the sd partition (not true)...
Help would be appreciated!
ps. i really don't want to format my sd again 'cus i have a lot of music and stuff on it. i didn't need to delete them when i partitioned my card before
if u have your sd card partitioned with a big fat32 and a small ext. Partition and both are primary then cyanogen will do everything by itsself. the only thing you can do is make sure that your setting for where apps are installed that its on automatic
X10mini miniCM7 2.0 using XDA Premium App
Hello, I have rooted my x10 m pro via superoneclick..then did the 2gb sdcard partition with easeus leaving a result of one 1,5gb fat32 part and another 350mb aprox fat part. Then installed link2sd and everything works fine, I moved all may user apps from the internal memory to the sd partition with root explorer, then did a test downloading and installing some random app from market and link2sd did the right job by installing it directly to the sdcard partition.
But theres a little problem, I downloaded plants vs zombies apk wich size is almost 75mb and its located in the 1,5gb sdcard partition. When I try to install this apk it tells me that theres no enough space. I checked that partition and it has +300mb free, almost the same that the internal memory has and if I try to install it from the internal memory the same warning message appears. Its like link2sd is not doing its job because it doesnt link the installation to the sdcard partition. Any ideas???
Cmon guys, any advice? I wasn´t able to install another apk of 40mb from the sd card, I cant figure out how to install this stuff that doesnt come from the market (I have checked the option to install non market apps)
Try installing a new ROM
sometimes the APp2 Sd and Link2sd don't actually work. best is to try installing a new rom, probably Froyo comb 1.5. there u have a setting to install directly on to the apps. try that
The reason it says not enough space because, the app is first installed in phone memory and then linked to sd card!
Hi there,
I've been looking for a way to partition my SD card so that I can use app2sd and move all the apps to the SD, even those which don't support SD card. That said, I have a Galaxy Mini, Gingerbread 2.3.4, rooted. Is there a way to do it without flashing a custom rom on the device?
Thanks for any help
You could use Rom Manager: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager&hl=en.
Dear Masters,
Need your help again.
I am using the application LINK2SD for transferring my applications to SD card. But what I see is, there is some memory still used from the phone memory even after moving that application.
So, I want to know what can be the reason for that and is there any way to move that data part to SD card?
Please do guide because as per me this is not making any sense in rooting the device as still my phone memory gets low.
Hope that solution gets resolved as always.

Sadly Link2SD cannot link app data, and so internal memory will still be taken up by this. The only way around it is to install JaggyRom (or else install a custom kernel with ext2/3/4 support and a data2SD script, but JaggyRom would be simpler I think) and use it's app2SD functionality instead of Link2SD.
There are various ways to move app data to SD, but they all seem to require the second partition on your SD card to be an ext partition, rather than a FAT partition, and ext partitions are not supported by the stock kernel. I have yet to come across any app or script which will move app data to a FAT formatted 2nd SD card partition.
Thanks
SifJar,
Thanks for your reply, I have already got JaggyRom in my HTC explorer and also downloaded APP2SD from play store, will this suffice? Or I need to add any Kernel or anything like that?
And what about the partitioning of SD card? can you put some light on that as I am a newbie to Android.
Thanks once again.
Chin2.
If you have JaggyRom, you don't need any app from Play Store. It comes with A2SDGUI preinstalled and has an apps2SD script already configured. All you need to do is create a second partition on your SD card. You need to connect your SD card to a computer (via a card reader, NOT your phone), get a partition manager (e.g. MiniTool Partition Wizard) and shrink your current FAT32 partition. Then make a new partition (not sure which is the best format, I think ext4, but ext2 and ext3 should work too) and make sure you also make this partition primary. (So both partitions will be primary). You'll want to make this partition reasonably large. Mine is about 700MB and I use about 500MB roughly with about 85 apps installed.
Once this is done, put it in your phone and start it. Then use A2SDGUI to move apps to SD card (don't move system apps, I don't think it will allow you to anyway), and I think it should automatically move any new apps you install in the future.

It is normal to have some kilobytes left there.I have a sensation and it always leaves some data on the phone and it isn't a lot.
The stock kernal can support ext2 partition so even without jaggyrom u can do it.
