Hi,
I searched around the forum but couldn't find anything.
Is there possible after unrooting the phone the OC settings to be kept?
I wan't to change default min/max freq of the cpu but I don't want to keep my phone rooted all the time.
Well you will have to try that out your self and let us know.

I think not, because any overclocking app asks for superuser permisions, so root is a must
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
What if the of app is flashed so even if u unroot, it will have root previlages same like we flash gapps.
I don't know the solution just trying to discuss.

the default values are stored somewhere, I assume. So I thought maybe there is a way to change them. I don't plan to play with the values all the time, I want something like 122-710Mhz.
is not possible
because u need to root ur phone 1st before can overclock ~
well what I want is: root the phone, set the values that I want somehow in OS, then unroot the phone.

I once set the values on boot using an init.d script but I don't know if it requires root everytime, and I don't know if it is supported on stock rom.
Sent from my LG Optimus One P500 using XDA App
Init.d is not supported in stock rom. You should root your phone, download a custom oc kernel, delete some values in /init.qcom.post_boot.sh and modify some other values in /system/etc/init.qcom.post_boot.sh. Then unroot the phone but leave the oc kernel alone, you will have OC set as default.
No you cannot. You need write access to kernel's sysfs (not permanent at all, Google it)

when you have rootexplorer and go to: sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq, there is a file with the name: cpuinfo_max_freq and when you open it you can change the freq to higher.
so maybe it works...
Did you try it?
Really? Please test this and let us know? Will keep watching this space!

Doesnt work. Every time you change entries it says its saved, but immediatly goes back to default! Guess those files are just to display info.

Hi Guys. I know some of you are probably wanting OC in your ROM and might not want to wait for someone to implement it in there ROM or maybe you don't want to flash a ROM but just want the OC.
Well i am going to tell you how to get Z-OC in your phone. There are some thing you will need to remember and that is that this can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.
PLEASE NOTE: I AM IN NO WAY RESPONSIBLE IF YOU TURN YOUR PHONE INTO A PAPER WEIHGT OR TURN IT INTO A BRICK FOR A REPLACEMENT FOR YOUR WALL.
Here is what to do:
You will need the files at the bottom of this post and extract them.
For permissions. O means tick, X means leave unticked.
1. Place the install-recovery.sh file in system/ect/ and set permissions to:
ooo
oxo
oxo
2. Place these 3 files: zdzihu_oc.ko/ar6000.ko/tun.ko in system/lib/modules and set the permissions to:
oox
oxx
oxx
3. Go back to the install-recovery.sh file and select it and then select execute.
4. Reboot and enjoy
PLEASE NOTE: ONLY LOOK AND CHANGE THE CPU SPEED USING CPU MASTER. DO NOT TRY CHANGIING THE CLOCK SPEED WITH OTHER CPU APPS LIKE SET CPU OR YOU WILL LOSE THE 1113MHZ SPEED AND YOU WILL NEED TO GO BACK TO INSTALL-RECOVERY.SH AND EXECUTE AGAIN.
Awesome. Thank u so much

That's what the ar6000.ko is. Don't delete the original as I have not done that and my WiFi is fine. Also I need to add this to the op but everytime you reboot the phone you need to set the CPU again.

What does invoke mean?
EDIT: just searched it and yes still add it just in case you need to. You can always try without it and let me know or just stay on the safe side and add it. If I have time in a bit I will try without it as I think that the ar6000.ko is actually something to do with CM find coz if I remember rightly the CM kernels or gingerbread kernels had the ar6000.ko WiFi module and the 2.2 or 2.1 kernels had a different one but don't quote me on that one

It means OverClock
It is jot necessary to include all the modulus.
Only the oc modulus seems work fine
cheers,

Correct me if I wrong, but for OC feature you need zdzihu_oc.ko only, others does nothing with OC.
Indeed, i am using terminal and insmod zdzihu_oc.ko and everything is fine...

Can't someone make a zip to flash?
Sent from my X10 using XDA Premium App
If it is the case only the z oc module is need then I will delete others but if I remember rightly the CM roms needed the ar6000.ko file for the WiFi to work and the tun.ko is a module for the CPU speeds to run by. Eg like CPU governer ect..... Correct me if I'm wrong but there must be reason they are there also the install-recovery.sh file has a lot of coding unlike the fps uncap one as where the one I added in this thread has a hell of a lot more also to do with the CPU governer.

I have tried to make an update zip also but if you try flashing this with a ROM with tweaks you will lose all the tweaks like with wolfs ROM. It is best to do it this way so you don't have the risk of something going wrong and also I get the same error with my zip and I used the update zip program to make it which set perms and signed and zips but still no go.

I have a rooted motorola flipout but I'd like to know what app is best if you want to overclock it, I have tried a few but for some reason they just don't work, do you have an overclocked flipout? what did you use? can you please let me know? thanks
As no one answered yet... I try.
Maybe not possible yet.
In other forums I have read, that other then root, also a kernel module, a modified kernel and/or cracked/open bootloader is needed. Flipout hasn't any of these.
Don't do it. It's harmful and dangerous.
And, it need a special ROM .Unfortunately, there is no such a ROM. Because the bootloader was locked by Moto .

I have an app milestone overclock (its on the market) and with only root it seems to overclock mine to 1ghz easily, i tried 1.2 but that crashed it fairly quickly

1. Root your phone, install XRecovery and flash a ROM that includes an overclocked kernel. Then install SetCPU or similar such app to increase the clock speed. Note... SetCPU will not overclock your phone on it's own, it needs a kernel that has the higher clock speeds included in it. (Safe.... you can't brick your phone)
2. If you want to stick with the stock firmware then you'll need to root your phone, unlock your bootloader and install DoomKernel for unlocked bootloaders, and use the SetCPU or similar app again. (Not so safe.... possible brick if you screw up.)
Either way, if you have no experience flashing your phone the do lots of reading and ask lots of questions before you proceed. No need to start new threads for each question either, you can just keep asking them in this thread.

Hi
I took my x10 to fix it. (original topic here)
they almost fixed. I can use it now but when it gets hot it reset again
on the paper the gave me about the problem, it says "CPU FC"
now I have two questions
1. what does cpu fc mean?
and
2. how do I know they even opened it or not?
screws don't have any scratch and IMEI haven't changed
CPU FC means CPU Force Closes coz of Overheat ..see did u give the phone to the company or to whom ??? and ru using and custom ROM if not download an app called
CPU SPY beta in that check at which frequency ur phone runs see the Freq and let me know !!
might help me a bit in sorting ut problem !!
my phone don't have waranty so I took it to a store
he says I rewalled it (or something similar)
my phone works at 250mhx when idle and ~900 when I use it

I think it should not be running 900mhz on use i suggest flashing a kernel and undervolt it to 500mhz min/max

I must flash a kernel to be able to overclock or undeclock?
I mean just rooting isn't enough?
what about flashing wolf rom with stock kernel?
now I have 2.1
is there an easier and faster way?

I had 2.3.3 and after repairing it, it's 2.1 now
so the CPU FC is on 2.3.3 or 2.1
when I bought it, it was 2.3.3 after 10min using it, it started to reset. then I took it to the repair store and "rewalled" it (fixing cpu connections). they flashed it with 2.1 and now it reset after using it and when cpu load is high
this morning I flashed stock 2.3.3 and still the same problem
i think the kernel might be having some problems .. did u try using any custom Kernels???
