Hi all,
Any Optus branded SGS2 owners here having issues recieving MMS from Vodafone numbers. - hope im not the only one lol
I have had my phone for about 2 weeks now and till this day cannot send or recieve MMS from people on the Vodafone network. I can send and recieve MMS fine from Optus, Telstra, 3, Virgin but nothing from vodafone.
I have called Optus about this issue, its been over 2 weeks now and they still cannot resolve the issue! if i put my SIM card in any other phone and enter the correct Optus APNs it works fine (can recieve and send MMS to vodafone). I have checked/re-checked/deleted and re-entered the Optus MMS APNs about 20 times now as instructed by Optus and still not luck!
Here are some screen shots to give you guys a better picture.
Vodafone recieve MMS shows up as 'Download' but never downloads!

Telstra Recieve's fine
hxxp://img198.imageshack.us/img198/8295/telstraj.jpg
And any other provider seems to be fine.
No matter what i do i cannot download the MMS from vodafone numbers nor do they recieve my MMS.
Anyone else have this issue?
Exact same issue here. No idea what to do.
I am on AT&T, and having the same problem.
I had this problem for ages with all MMS and found it actually worked when I turned wifi off and just had mobile data networks on and hit "download".
Worth a try at least if you haven't...
I had this issue too. If I had mobile data off and an MMS was sent to me, the msg would be stuck in 'downloading' and I could never receive it even after turning data on and off, restarting the phone, killing the process and reopening it etc. There was no way to manually retrieve it. My fix is;
1) Open messaging
2) Hit menu button -> Settings
3) Untick Auto-retrieve.
Now all MMS's appear with a download button. Simply enable mobile data, hit download and voila!

Firstly thanks to W4XY for the repair tool. Followed instructions and the repair was perfect.
I have managed to get all settings working for my vodafone sim card except for MMS.
Settings
in options for MMS I have
connect via: My ISP
My ISP connects to Vodafone GPRS
Connect to server: wap.vodafone.co.uk
when sending, MMS it fires up GPRS connection to voda (which works fine for internet, emails etc) and then proceeds to send (I get the litle outtray) so everything appears to be fine however nothing actually gets to the other end and the outtray just stays there until i close it down ?
when receiving, I get a message come through to the phone all the normal data from, subject, date, time and size and the download button. I press the download button and GPRS fires up, then the intray appears indicating "receiving" so all appears to be fine except nothing actually gets downloaded. The tray just stays there until i close it down. I have waited some 15 - 20 mins to see if it eventually downloads.
So I'm close but no cigar.
Any advice ? anyone got MMS working on XDA2 with vodafone ?
Oh and yes MMS works fine in other MMS enabled phones.

I have a problem with roaming.
I am on MTS who has joined with Rogers network.
On stock ROM: 2-6-35-7-i9100xwkf3-cl276555 rootdell101 #2
I go to the US
Phone works on roaming
Can receive SMS
Cannot send SMS - Send fails
I have since rooted and installed Alienware 2-6-35-11 ninphetamine 2.1.3 xxkh3
I go to the US
Phone has 4/5 bars and can't get on network to roam
can't send/receive SMS
when dialing get the Mobile network unavailable message
My wife's samsung galaxy S i897 works fine -
Swapping SIMs with her yields the same failures on my S2 with her SIM.
In both cases, crossing the border home fixes the problem and life is grand.
I have tried:
1.enabling data roaming
2.rebooting
3.battery pull
4.swapping sims
Is anyone else having similar roaming issues - is there a ROM that actually works while roaming from Canada while in the US?
I have seen problems on my old Galaxy S and my wife's similar to this as when trying different ROMS, but have never gone across the border with any of these ROMS installed.
What I've seen with different ROMS is:
1. sometimes cannot get phone to get on network unless I setup the APN settings first
2. sometimes cannot get phone or data to work without enabling roaming mode. The phone actually says it's roaming even when it's on the home network
Is there anything I'm missing in the forums on this issue?
Thanks for the help
hmm, maybe you've tried, but have you checked if the APN list is accurate ?
i believe there is an app to set the APN on the market ( can't remember the name though, never had the need for it.)
or try to google if you can find the APN setting of your network provider.
Seem like an APN problem to me as you explain it.
on the phone, you can access that with :
Settings >> Mobile networks >> Access Point Names and then the details of each APN can be checked/edited.
Hi folks.
So I've got a Lumia 800, SIM-free from phones4u. I've tried the following to get my MMS working. Note everything else on the phone works fine.
Cut my PAYG O2 sim card to micro sim, booted up phone (first boot), set APN settings etc.
Doing a complete phone reset.
Getting a replacement microsim for O2.
Doing another complete phone reset.
I've bounced between O2 and Nokia's customer support lines a few times to no avail.
Texting the O2 number (2020) to get MMS settings sent to my phone. It errors.
So I have three questions.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Is there a way to force it into the right MMS settings?
Is Nokia's Network Setup application on the way after the secruity flaw that got it unpublished? Any indication when it might be out?
Sorry if any of this is a stupid question. A friend suggested you guys might be able to help.
Got the same problem and I believe everybody with sim free Nokia's experiencing the same problem.
There's no way to change the MMS settings. We need to wait for Nokia to release the app.
It's a bit annoying though.
Lumia 800 on O2 Ireland here as well and MMS is not working. I was expecting this as MMS on my existing HD7 would not work either without running the Connection Setup software provided by HTC.
I'm hoping the Network Setup software will be back soon on the Marketplace(and will actually include O2 Ireland in the settings).
Although my lumia seems ok with mms on tmobile uk, my wifes Mozart wont send or recieve mms at all i have tried everything. As HTC used to have a setup app before they removed it (dunno why its needed) im sure it can be setup by software.
Hi,
Nokia released the Network Setup App again. The only flaw is, I can't seem to find the app in Marketplace. BUT: go to this thread and follow the link in the first post on your phone.
My data connection now works perfectly, but MMS still does not work
Happy to report that USA T-Mobile Lumia 800 sending MMS perfectly.. after reading this thread, I tested this and my coworker got the photo I sent just fine. Didn't even take that long to send (T-Mobile USA restricts Lumia 800 to 2G Edge)
Thanks zoidinger - this got me the app. Annoyingly I now can't seem to actually make it *do* anything. I can select between O2 UK 1, O2 UK2, and tesco mobile, but no matter what it always ends up set to "O2 UK 1" iff I change it, go out and come back in again.
I'll have a play around today when I get the chance and see if I can get anywhere.

The Connection Setup app doesn't exist anymore on Marketplace or what? Because I had a Mozart before and to fix the MMS config I downloaded that app, ran it and then it worked.
BTW: I also got MMS to work on my Lumia yesterday with the Network Setup app. Here's how I did to get it to work:
1. I ran the app
2. Removed the app
3. Turned the phone off
4. Removed the sim card
5. Started the phone
6. Turned it off again
7. Reinserted the sim card
8. Turned it on again.
Now it works!
Right after playing around I got it working!
It was some combination of the following, in various different orders:
Playing with the Network Setup app
Removing the APN settings
Re-adding the APN settings
Rebooting the phone
Thanks so much for the trick to get the Network Setup app!

Unfortunately, that does not seem to work for me. I tested MMS with another phone. It worked instantly. I also checked the MMS settings inside the XAP from Nokia and they seem correct. Don't know what to do else...
The problem affects only branded firmware. Solution:
1. Open Internet Explorer on your phone.
2. We go to the following address: goo.gl/l5vi2
3. Click on the link "Zune Link" in the first post at the top.
4. Install the application.
5. Remove APN manually typed in the phone settings, if any we have (Settings-> Mobile Network-> Edit APN).
6. Run the application, wait a while and we have configured the phone.
7. Close the application.
Here is updated link for Network Setup from Nokia
I had to call Nokia as the previous links in threads did not work. they gave me updated link and I ran the app, power-cycled and sent MMS with no errors on phone. Please make sure you remove any APN settings before running the app, reboot after it detects your carrier. Enjoy, I hope this helps. The forum won't let me post a URL, you can email me directly [email protected] for link and maybe someone can post it
Hi guys,
I am on the Fido network.
I purchased the Galaxy S2 I9100 from Bell Mobility.
I unlocked the phone using cellunlocker.net.
Everything worked great once the phone was unlocked (data, voice, text, mms, etc).
Once I updated the APN and selected my network operator I noticed my date stamp on incoming texts was off by a few hours. I corrected this by calling my service provider who reset my SIM.
This is where the more serious problem started, the date stamp on the texts was corrected although I lost my data connection.
Another thing I wanted to mention was when restarting the S2, the data network mode (when holding the power button) automatically goes into "deactivated". I activate it right away although this still has no effect.
Can anyone help? The phone worked for just under 2 weeks with data, voice, etc. Now nothing........
=(

Go to mobile network settings - access point name. I'm guessing that there is no APN settings there. Google APN settings for your service provider or ring them and ask them. This should sort out your data connection
Hi,
All APN settings are correct, they were working prior to calling the service provider for a SIM reset. I rechecked them 10 million times to ensure all is well.
Using my wireless for now and even factory reset my phone but nothing.
Try deleting your apns and reconfigure them!

Just finished, I deleted my APN and created a new one. Still nothing, even when I reset to default. Also registered it on my network operator. This is very puzzling for me... I appreciate your response as I thought it was a great idea and was sure it would have worked! =(
Maybe try a buddies Fido sim to see if it helps.

Tell me what network your on and tell me what modem you are runinng? Take a screen shot of your APN settings. It will take 2 screen shots for the APN settings
I apologize for the delay as I was away for work until today...
The data works now.
I called into my service provider who at first stated they could not help me as my phone was unlocked. This was overcome as I still had the my Nexus S which I bought from my service provider which also had no data. After trouble shooting for 30 min on both phones (resetting, factory wiping, creating new APN's, etc) we were unable to get the data to work.
The tech rep then asked me to attend a Fido store (my provider), which I agreed to (rep asked me to insert my SIM into another Fido phone and try the data connection that way).
Within 10 min of the phone call my data connected just like that. Funny part is I didn't do anything to the S2.
I believe my provider switched off the data when I called in originally regarding my date stamp. Then when I called back they switched it back on knowing it wasn't any of my settings or the phone. This is just my theory.
My advice is never let your provider know you have an unlocked phone, especially Fido.
I appreciate your help and hope this helps anyone going forward.
Trying to send/receive MMS on Plusnet in the uk. I tried the original settings that came with the sim but no luck. Asked on the plusnet forum and input their suggested APN manually but it still won't work. Sending just fails and can't receive - just get a "Cannot download MMS, click to retry" message. Then a few days later get a text form EE with a password link to view it online.
If you have a Mate 10 (or a Pro which I assume would be the same) please let me know your APN settings. Thanks
just me then i guess

I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean, are you saying that your trying to send a MMS using your WiFi and it's not working?
I can't send or receive mms whether on wifi or data.

This is a carrier issue or phone related issue, not WiFi then I believe, if it was just WiFi then it would be Plusnet's fault but it's also your data from your carrier
My phone contract is with Plusnet (which uses EE Network) and my Wifi is directly with EE - neither work.
Plusnet community support seems to have given up on me so I thought I'd come on here and find any UK Mate 10 /Pro users and see if their MMS is working and with what settings.

I'm on EE and can send a MMS, I'm not aware of any particular settings tho to make it work, I put my SIM card in the phone and it works lol
"lol" I'm very pleased for you.
Anyone else prepared to share their actual APN settings?
