[Q] Live stream (lunar eclipse) no go on Thunderbolt...? - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Wondering if anyone else got a successful stream on the Thunderbolt.
It's been an incredibly frustrating experience the last two hours with my Thunderbolt.
Thought I'd watch the live stream of the lunar eclipse on the phone. Pulled out my Droid Charge, went to the Huffington Post, clicked their YouTube link, hit full screen and started getting a gorgeous SAMOLED+ view of the event in real time.
Then I thought I'd compare the visual quality of the stream on the Charge against the Thunderbolt. Followed the same steps as I had with the Charge. Stream wouldn't load... just kept getting the spinning gear indicating buffering. Tried with both stock browser (BAMF) and Dolphin HD. Tried different user agents. Downloaded update to flash player. Same thing. Tried different websites, different streams; same thing.
Went to YouTube, live stream not available to mobile devices. Aaaarrggghhh.
Thought maybe the steam was overloaded, so pulled out my Nexus S to see if it could connect. Stock browser got the live stream right away.
Spent an hour screwing around with the Thunderbolt trying to get it to work. Never could. Very frustrating.
This is why I carry multiple devices.
In the end I turned on mobile hotspot on the Thunderbolt and tethered my MacBook to it and have it on the 15" screen. Better looking than the phone anyways.
Hotspot has been very flakey fire me on the Thunderbolt lately, so it's a pleasant surprise to have had it be stable today. It's been no interruption for an hour now; much different than the disconnects every 10 seconds or so I posted about the other day.
I'm going to have to figure out why of three phones, the TB is the only one that wasn't up to the task.
Any ideas?

[Q] DISHNetwork Remote Access App..very slow

Hi All, I just upgraded to the TB from a Dinc last month/year so I am very new to this thread, when I had the Dinc, I installed the aforementioned DRA app and it played shows/movies fairly decent, buffering of my shows were quite fast actually...I could actually see the bandwidth jump from 20 kbps to easily over 1Megabits / second....so, very satisfying considering that was over 3G, well, as you all can imagine, since I installed DRA on my new TB, shows/movies either never go up in bandwidth at all or simply doesn't play. I get all kinds of error messages that would state that network connection wasn't good or something along those lines. I would reboot and MAAAAYBE, it would attempt to play, but, still no dice, it does everything, but, play, period. I expected so much more since my phone is now 4G LTE, don't get me wrong, I Love this phone BIG TIME, but, the majority of my reasons for the upgrade was that my shows/movies will play alot smoother/more consistent so that I can take advantage of my Dish Sling adapter, I mean, should I just go back to the store and exchange for another TB since I'm still within the 14 day return/exchange window? Any ideas or other suggestions I can try? Thanks in advance, all.

Question about HBO GO & GTA III

Hello,
I have continually been getting Messages on HBO telling me that only the Audio Feed is available. The thing is, my Internet Speeds are through the roof and it never occurred with my 3D. Also, when playing GTA III, the Screen freezes sporadically. As this was a Refurbished swapout for my former 3D, I am just wondering if something might be amiss.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
JJ
Try the app called 'AdFree' from the market? Maybe blocking the ads would help you...?
The GTA issues are pretty common right now across many devices. I hope the devs cook up a fix really soon because I can't play it with that issue. Sometimes I'm in the middle of a huge mission and it freezes. I get so pissed lol. For HBO I'm not sure, maybe the app played well with HTC sense buy doesn't like the stock moto blur (aosp) roms. Have you tried emailing the devs of the HBO app?
I have HBO Go and GTA III both and have not had any issues with HBO app. Is this something that has started happening recently? Have not had any issues with GTA III yet but have not played it that much. Maybe there is a conflict with another app on your device?
Hello,
After spending days getting the Stock Launcher and ADW EX just the way I wanted them, I did a Factory Reset per Motorola's advice.
I have not tested the Apps yet, but I am kicking myself for doing so as I really was happy with how I had the Launchers configured.
Cheers,
JJ
Audio feed only on HBO go is due to low bandwidth throughout. Basically it will steam the audio and if connection gets stronger then it will steam video again.

Hello,
That was the weird thing, the Bandwidth was/is through the roof. I ran Speedtest and the results could not be much better.
As I noted prior, I ended up doing a Factory Reset and amazingly GTA III has been trouble free and HBO GO has not had a single hiccup since. Go figure.
Today, my Otterbox Defender Case arrived and I could not be happier. I purchased a Commuter to have Protection while waiting for the Defender to arrive. I like the Commuter, but HATE the Screen Protector. I even went to the Sprint Store and exchanged it once, but I still got bubbles after a very deliberate installation. The biggest reason I use the Defender is that it has a built in Screen Protector. I do wish Vaja made a Case for the Photon, but it is not to be.
Cheers,
JJ
I was trying to determine the issue, you say your bandwidth is good. Make sure you have 4g enabled.
I cannot remember if I used the HBO app before I altered the proxy settings in my phone. You can alter them if you have your MSL.
To view them type ##DATA# in your dialer. It will bring up some fields. The field you will want to alter is the multimedia field.
I strongly suggest if you want to go back to stock settings you either write all the info down on the field or take a screen shot..
The changes you will want to make are.
RTSP Address
0.0.0.0

Default buffer length is 7, I have changed it to 20 and have not seen any apreciable difference between 7 and 20..

[Q] Multiple problems. Sound, freezing, etc. Help?

I've had my gtab for about two years now. I can't really afford to upgrade as it is, but there are a few issues with my gtab that I need to get sorted.
First: It's ridiculously slow. It's practically a new install, using one of the 4.1 roms. I don't remember which offhand, but I can find it. Blackbean, I think. All I've put on are Chrome, Dolphin, Mobo Player, swarm, slacker, orbot, and firefox. Not much at all. Programs open slow. None of my browsers work for more than a page, if that. Mobo Player resets after every episode I play, f I get that far. Two episodes is a miracle.
Second: Randomly, my sound will go from reasonable listening level to OMG HIGHER THAN IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE CAPABLE OF SCRATCHY YELLING like my speakers are going out or something. This happens randomly while I'm watching shows. Sometimes I'll get 3-4 episodes in, last night I was getting through half an episode. The only thing that stops it is a reboot.
Any ideas? I want a new tablet, but even so I'll probably give this one to family once I upgrade. I can't upgrade for a while due to finances, and even when I do I don't want to give my mom/sister/whoever a ****ty tablet.

Cast screen to appradio3?

Hi guys if your reading this maybe you can help me. I have an appradio3 that I to be able to cast my screen onto. Now brief background, I used to be on Verizon limited data with a rooted note2 that I direct connected via HDMI. I now have mistakingly switched to att and now i have a new note7 that doesn't have anyway to connect directly to the deck since Samsung has taken it out. Now I've since read about using a Chromecast and casting that way. That's all well and good if and only if you have a Wi-Fi hotspot on your phone which I don't and i dont want to pay for the very limited hotspot plan for my phone to do that. Now I'm not opposed to rooting my note7 which I've looked into that but I've got an sm-n930a. And using the Sprint method doesn't work well for my model. Seen a video were a guy did get his tmoblie phone to root but the process was very lengthy. Or I'm not opposed to rooting if possible the Chromecast. I've got both the newer and the older version of that. I've looking briefly through the Chromecast threads and didn't see if once rooted that you could Wi-Fi direct to the CC. Like once your setting it up it Wi-Fi directs to your phone then switches to normal Wi-Fi. Is this possible??? Or if there's any other device that could get this to work with an appradio3 I'll totally try that.

I'm guessing after the note 7 recall this issue has "solved" its self... I am curious what you did wind up doing. I have the same App radio 3. I used to mirror my S5 to the thing with a samsung hdmi adapter and had full bluetooth touch controlls. Ever since android started setting selinuix to enforced it has become an issue to emulate touch control from the app radio to the phone. Screen mirriroing alone didnt really make me all that happy since I couldnt make it do much without touching the phone. Do you by chance have any advise on this?
What phone did you go to after the Note 7?
Well unfortunately I've gone to an iPhone 7 plus. Which I'm a droid person at heart and it's been a hard switch. Mainly cause I like the ability to mod the droid over iPhone. That said though the iPhone can still hook up to the AppRadio once you've got the appropriate adapters. So right now I can mirror the phone and can watch YouTube videos on the deck. If watching a YouTube it'll allow the phone to go dark or browse for your next video. Still looking into loading videos on the iPhone than watching them on deck but haven't put to much effort into as of yet. The real bummer is that there isn't no support to mod the iPhone to use full touch screen like if you had a droid with the hdmi. I've actually posted on several iPhone forums with just the question and after 2 months have not gotten a response. I still have my note2 and could hook that stuff back up but I have no internet on it so I couldn't watch YouTube from it. And I know this is droid forum but if anybody can help with modding the AppRadio app for iPhone like they did for the droid I'd throw some funds your way, but I can't throw to much since winter time is slow work months for me.

Odd glitch where phone seems to choke on websites - but only on wifi?

I thought it was my imagination, but without a doubt my phone takes *forever* to load a website, and it doesn't matter what browser I am using. But, only on wifi. If I disable my wifi, things load in a snap. I thought I saw a few people mention something about this, is it a poor compatibility with specific wireless router bands? I have half a dozen other devices on wifi and I have never seen this behaviour before. Strangely, it only seems to affect the loading of web pages - for example a game like 'Clash Royale' just connects to the server instantly. Anyone run into this?
Also, downloads do the same thing. Strangely, they will burst until they are almost done, and then crawl to just about nothing for the last few percent. Like, where a 5 Meg file takes half an hour to download.
It's Donald Trump's doing mate, he's tampering with your device so you can't load the needed websites.
Or maybe they are spying on you lol
