I got my Dell Streak as a replacement when my first one went out, it came with the 2.2 update. Everything was working fine and then one day during a call my Dell Streak rebooted and it stayed stuck on the Dell Logo, so I did a factory reset and now it hasnt worked ever since. I decided to try and install clockwork recovery to see if I can try to flash a new rom but it wont even load up when I select the option to Update from SD card, it just gives me a black screen, what can I do? I looked on the forum and I couldn't find anyone with a similar problem, thank you.
Use StreakMod Recovery (the recovery-v0.3.2.7-DoctorWFix.zip version) and read this:

Hello, I have been trying to find the fix for this, but every post I have found has dead links. Does anyone have the files and method to fix this?
I received the Streak today from someone who had Froyo on it. When he tried to do a factory wipe on it before he gave it to me, it failed and now only boots to the Dell Screen. I tried using the clockwork recovery to install one of the updates from the SD card, but no luck.
Can anyone help? Thanks!
I think you should download dj Steve's 1.6 and install instead if running the updates from the card cuz when I tried to update with that update.zip in my as card I got an error message to... so I download dj Steve's 1.6 and put it on my card through another phone and used that update package and now phone runs better than fine.
Hope that helps.
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
Thanks, but I tried that after reading other posts, but the links to the downloads were all broken. Does anyone have an active link?

Much appreciated! The problem I am having is that the phone appears to be nearly bricked. I can get into fast boot and clockwork recovery, but all my attempts to update are having no affect. Some kept me at the Dell logo screen, but now it boots to a dark screen with light at the edges.
The posts I've read say I need to install the original factory rom, but every download page points back to the same page that says the file has been removed.
I've got fastboot installed and that is able to connect, but nothing seems to be working. It could be I am just not doing things right.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Woohoo!
Looks like I fixed it! The only thing that worked was using the QDL tool process, which was a little long and involved, but brought the Streak back to life! For anyone else, here is where I found great step by step instructions including videos:

Now time to learn all about this beauty!
Thanks!
I have a dell streak from rogers communications in canada. Its build 7921. I got the phone 3 weeks ago, rooted my phone using Android Ultimate or Android Universal, can't remember which one. Just last week the 2.2 Froyo update was released to Canadians with rogers. I downloaded the update OTA. I unrooted my dell streak and tried installing the update, did it a couple of times, everytime my dell streak couldn't get passed this blank screen.
So i put the froyo 2.2 update.pkg in my SDCARD, and reset my streak to factory settings. Than tried updating from the menu by using OPTION 2 "upgrade via. update.pkg" now i've tried this and a couple of other things many times but it wont go passed a lite blank screen. I've since than tried resetting to factory settings and it reboots after resetting to a DELL LOGO screen and stays there forever.
After reading a bunch of tutorials i download the 1.6 Update.pkg but its not for the same build as my phone. Regardless i put the 1.6 Update.pkg on my SDCARD and loaded up the MENU and tried upgrading via update.pkg using OPTION 2.
Again, it won't go passed this lite blank screen. I've tried a bunch of tutorials saying that i have to go into FASTBOOT. I can't go into FASTBOOT. Because my computer won't download the ANDROID 1.0 drivers. I have to computers with WINDOWS 7, i've tried on both and it wont download the drivers. I installed DELL PC SUITE, everytime i load up DELL PC SUITE at the bottom left it says "DISCONNECTED" I've went into Device Manager by right clicking "COMPUTERS" and manually tried installing it but i don't get the options a lot of users with the similar problems have been getting. SUCH AS from the drop down menu there should be "ANdroid phone" "Google inc" i don't get any of those options.
I believe i have the answer somewhat but i just need to put it in the right order, can someone please explain to me how to get my dell streak back to ORIGINAL 1.6 from ROGERS COMMUNICATIONS> thank you so much for anyone who reads
If i'm reading this right, your streak cant boot anymore currently right?
If i could I was going to ask if you could make a nandroid dump of 7921, I've never seen it before.
So I upgraded my Dell Streak to StreakDroid some time ago and had been updating along the way as new versions came out. At around 1.9.0 my streak started crashing every which way. So I reverted back to the old version - no luck. Then I reflashed 1.9 still no go. My streak now crashes basically whenever I try do anything useful with it. Whenever I open Maps, Market, browse a page with any pictures, watch a video, or even think about using flash my streak freezes up and then capacitive buttons flash a few times and the Streak reboots. Often times it hangs at it the Dell Logo and reboots a few times before being able to get back into android. Sometimes it never even makes it back to android and I have to pull the battery.
I recently tried Farad's Ginger Streak, it was stable for a while but now has the exact same problem! (Yes I did the amss, dsp, gps flash)
I have run all of the Engineering tests in the Fastboot mode ( I was convinced it was the internal SD card for a while) but they all turn out fine.
Something interesting: Whenever I boot into fastboot mode it says TE Failed and something else in red then it looks like it tries again and finally gets to the "Wait for SD Detect" until finally booting to fastboot mode.
I am at end of my nerves at this point! I can only use my phone as a phone! Everything else crashes it! Please Help.
Thank You.

Did you try the 2.3.3 Gingerbread ROM?
If nothing works then the internal SD card (2GB one) maybe faulty.
He mentioned testing the internal SD and that it reported no problems.
To the OP, has this occurred on stock ROMs as well?
I am currently running farad's 2.3.3 ginger rom.
As for the stock ROM I don't remember having the problem back in the day of stock 1.6 from dell but that was a looong time ago...
I was trying to go back to complete stock..but any instructions I find seem to be a bit shaky I tried just flashing the stock rom through streakmod recovery but it never booted(didn't really expect it to since I had to flash a new amss and dsp to get 2.3.3). I was thinking about going QDL but that doesn't flash the 1.6 if I remember correctly. I kind've want to send it in for warranty but I need to get it back to stock for that.
Thanks for taking intrest and helping.
Install the current version of your carrier's ROM on the Streak and try that rather than going all the way back to 1.6. This will allow for the following:
1. The recovery image, the baseband, and the software are all the same version.
2. Eliminates hardware as the source of your difficulties.
If the Streak functions properly under the carrier firmware you install, then you can safely eliminate hardware as the source of your problem, which means the software is the culprit. In that case, install Fards' ROM again and test it. It is possible that your Streak had a bad flash when putting GingerStreak on it.
I believe the directions given on the Dell Streak Flashing Guide on the Wiki might be helpful.
Did he factory reset at any time inbetween all those flashes?
Flashing rom after rom wont fix anything if it's the data that's the issue, custom roms dont wipe data as a general rule (they can, it's simply not scripted to on install as it's usually not required for updating the same rom but to a new version).
I didn't even think to ask that of him. Putting a stock ROM on the device does wipe everything though, so wouldn't he be at the same end point that a factory reset would be at?
A stock update will, but reading his posts i'm unsure he actually managed to get any stock update to complete as he was likely doing it wrong
If I had a penny for every time I factory reset my phone....
I can't tell you how many times I factory reset my phone between rom flashes but it didn't help any. I tried both the factory reset from the "black and white" and from within StreakMod. I have cleared the Dalvik Cache and the batter stats and the entire cache partition. I have run fix permissions out the wazoo. And it never really helped any.
Anyway I just installed the latest stock AT&T Rom (unfortunately they are only at 2.2.2) as suggested by Strephon (thanks for the wiki link by the way that place is amazing! How is it I never ran across it in all my time with the streak...)
The phone seems ok...but so did all the other ROMs when I first installed them. Any ideas on how to "stress test" the device short of installing stuff from market and trying to do everything?
Thanks for all this help by the way you guys are being awesome.
Well nevermind...that didn't take long at all. It is giving me the same problems as before. It is freezing, flashing LEDs and rebooting a few times. It made it into android for a sec while it said "checking SD card for integrity" in the status bar then rebooted again and finally booted into android.
If you're having this problem even with a stock ROM, I believe you have a hardware related problem, and that it was simply coincidence that it happened shortly after upgrading to custom ROMs.

If its not under warranty, I would look on these forums for a disassembly guide and replace the internal sd card. I replaced mine with a 4 gig just for the heck of it.
Alright I guess I will I call Dell tomorrow and see if I can't get it fixed/replaced.
According to the warranty site I should still be under warranty.
I'll post back once I contact dell. Thanks for helping out so much!
Success
Called Dell and they next-dayed me a new streak. Runs just fine. I guess it was a hardware problem after all.
Now Last time I upgraded my streak from stock I had to go through a whole bunch of hoops (QDL, then some intermediate stock roms then streakmod and finally DJ_Steve)
Is this still the recommended path to 2.3.3 or has a better way come around since?
I am new to the android platform, so please don't "grill me on the spot"
And just so you know....I read and read and read about it, but I just can't figure this one out...
I am a Symbian modder and cook, so I actually know how to do stuff like this...
but now I am stuck
Heres the problem:
My friend had problems with his Streak 5, which I believe was released with Android 2.1
His System crashed and he went to an other friend that put on Android 1.6...
He told me it worked for about 3 days and then crashed again. So know he gave it to me to fix it.
SO this s what I did:
I figured that he probably downgraded it, while putting on 1.6 and so I thought that might be the reason for the crash.
So I tried a Froyo Version 345
Still doesn't work, so I tried the latest release Version 360 & 364...
which would mean, that there is no way I downgraded on the last boots...
but 360 wouldn't be recognized by the in recovery mode - option 2
so last one I did was 364...
Anyway...the problem is that it won't boot...it always stays on the Dell logo
after I put in the 364 and pushed recovery mode it, didn't say Error, so I figure it did something....
after that the dell logo disappears shortly then comes back again...(reboot?) but won't go farther than that
Now when I turn on the dell streak all that happens, is that the three buttons on the bottom light up, but no Dell logo...
I just can't figure this one out...can anybody help me out?
how did you flash were you using streak recovery or the dell recovery option or even clockwork mod may give people more of an idea
I tried to use streakflash, and all the other windows based flashing systems, but I couldn't get the driver to load...
I was using the dell recovery option
I was not able to install clockwork, because the phone was already not working before hand.
I tried a factory reset and different updates as "update.pkg" with the "recovery.img" as stated in the xda-wiki site.
Do you think the "old" files that have been on the sdcard can make problems?
should I use a clean sdcard? and if so, which files must all be on it, to get the dell alive again?
I followed this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416718
the only part I might have skipped is whatever is done with the repair tool after unzipping in step 2 because it wasn't clear. Though I just flashed gingerstreak 2.4.4 a few weeks ago so my usb drivers should be fine.
Every step went fine, but then after the update my streak just sits at the dell screen.
after pulling out the battery and turning back on... it goes to a white screen and says "start emergency recovery copy..." then says "done" after a while and then just sits at the dell screen again.
I made a backup to my pc hardrive of the contents of my sd card before starting this... and gingerstreak should still be on the sd card in my phone.
Can I get some help please?
How to I do this properly, or at least get my phone back..
Thanks in advance!

YOur question has been answered so many times that it's painful to remember. Do some searchingin the 407 Olleh thread and the procedure in explained there at least 4 times in GREAT detail by experienced users...
Several people have their Streak hang at the Dell logo or just get impatient and don't give it enough time or simply skip a step.... you never should've started tinkering in the first place till you had done more reading
