[Q] Stock bootscreen with sounds for SGS2 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all
Is it possible so I can get the stock SGSII bootscreen and files, so I won't have to completly flash my phone. I've already rooted it and I want to get rid of the optus crap, since I use Telstra.

49 views and still no answer. Come on people?
All I want is these files off a unbranded Galaxy S II
/system/media/bootsamsung.qmg
/system/media/bootsamsungloop.qmg
/system/media/audio/ui/Shutdown.ogg
/system/etc/PowerOn.wav
/system/media/video/shutdown/shutdown.qmg

A search will find system-GalaxySII file for download and you can extract the apks .
jje

Mate, I've been there and done that. I said, I didn't want to flash anything because I don't want to have to go and restore all my stuff, and I tried searching but all I can find are IMG files that I CAN'T EXTRACT, tried UniExtract, tried mounting the image, no go. That's why I came here to ask, because I already Googled and also searched this forum too.

The post referred to a file posted on forum namely system-GalaxySII
A file not a rom not an image a file .
jje

Here are the requested files, from an unbranded SGS2:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1375713/Boot-SGS2.zip
I could not find /system/media/audio/ui/Shutdown.ogg

That was what I was looking for! Thanks heaps! I did find that the system-GalaxySII file JJEgan pointed me to, had a completely different bootscreen to a unbranded SGS2, as it just shows a Samsung logo, yet the shutdown image is the normal one.
Come think of it the system-GalaxySII didn't have a Shutdown.ogg either, so the SGS2 must not have a shutdown sound unlike the SGS1.
And I was finally able to get rid the Optus crap, so now I still keep my ROM, keep Navigon, and didn't have to restore any backups.

Help..
Hi Guys,
I tried replacing the PowerOn.WAV and Shutdow.ogg files in my SGS2..Using root explorer..but it wont let me repalce them saying the files are read only.
Any suggestions...sorry i am a newbie...
Cheers,
DJ

Galaxy S II Messed Up

Greetings XDA,
Lets say a Galaxy S II was rooted and then deleted some files from the system and edited some others. Then that Galaxy S II started malfunctioning and be useless.
How can you remove rooting and everything get back to original [ meaning like never rooted or edited files ] ?
Don't get upset i am a noob indeed and maybe annoying but i am a lawyer and i only play with papers. I gave this colleague of me my phone because he wanted to "see" something, at least that's what he said, and i went to the meeting, then he ran to find me and told me he messed it a little bit.
Can it be restored?
Will flashing firmware unroot the device and restore files back to stock?
Thanks anyone who answers or even view the thread.
Find your original firmware in intratechs thread and flash it through odin
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
You're sparse with info, like most lawyers..
If you can boot into download mode, do so and flash a stock ROM via Odin. System files will be restored but you'll lose root. If that goes well then you can re-root
Then you should boot your colleague in testicle mode.

My colleague still tries to find info on internet on how to restore it and keeps saying how sorry he is. Why do i need to reroot? I don't want to be rooted.
Does it need to be rooted? Because he rooted it i never wanted that.
Will doing so bring up all manipulated files?
A lawyer doesn't lie, just manipulates truth and info

Do i need those kernel and staff?
ONE LAST QUESTION, CAN I CHOOSE ONE OTHER MEANING OF T MOBILE EVEN THOUGH I AM COSMOTE? OR AN OFFICIAL ONE OR EVEN THE LATEST OR THIS WILL DAMAGE THE SGS?
You could download CheckFus to your PC and it will find the correct firmware and I think download it too.. A bit sparse on the details as I have never used it but heard good things about it

Don't panic
I can't seem to log on to Samfirmware at the moment, don't know why, so I can't check the available firmwares or your link.
Is there a BOKK1 firmware for Cosmote there? If so, that's the one you want.
If not, is your phone locked to Cosmote?

its not logged..cosmote is from greece, but we try to import as many things we can so my country helps them. i am from cyprus as well. its not locked to Cosmote.
Please check the picture i will reupload to tell me what is it... if its bokk1 for sure...
If you're not locked, any Cosmote firmware should be fine.
For one last check, dial *#1234# on your phone and post what it says for PDA, Phone and CSC.

I didn't say anything about asking questions where you downloaded the kernels.
I said to read the directions provided in the thread where you got the kernels from.
Don't mean to offend, but If you can't follow the threads, then your not ready to root your phone yet,"you will more likely brick it". READ and then READ again..
Dont run before you can walk.
Also, MAKE SURE you are trying to use kernels (and/or firmwares when you move onto firmwares) meant for your phone. If you got these kernels from a thread in the I9100 forums, make SURE you have an I9100 by looking on the label under your device's battery.
I have seen a ton of people flash kernels and firmwares/ROMs intended for a different device, and the results have varied from the device not functioning quite right, to an outright brick that had to get sent back to Samsung.
The easiest way to root your s2 is zegrush exploit, works for me no problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582
and you dont have to use odin so flash counter doesnt increase
threads
Im not an expert on phones but i know quite a bit about computers ,ive looked at the threads and followed the instructions and even whatched a video.ive un ziped many a file but when i un zip the kernel i get a zimage file. where i got the kernels from no body has this problem thanks am i doing somthing wrong with this zip file because i cant use it as a zip thank
I was confused too before rooting but you learn quick and understand after you do it. I dont know much myself but I dont think you need to download any kernels to root, at least I didnt. just use the link in my post above and it will be easy, yes it is scary the first time!!!

Pretty much every kernels here dont require you to unzip them, you flash them as they are. As everyone above says, read the instructions. I also know a lot of computers, but sadly pretty much no knowledge of that is useful for phones, unless you know programming.

What thread are you getting the file from, and reading? Cause it REALLY seems you are not following the instructions correctly. The zImage file IS the kernel, but it has to be in a .tar file to flash in Odin. So it sounds as if you've unzipped it twice instead of just once, maybe.
kernels
I was sent to this site from android pit,to get my kernels to root my samsung galaxy s2. i have followed android pit rooting video exactly its not hard but the kernels you get from this site are not the same as on the android pit video. And they tell you to get them from here. why
dont these kernels work thanks

I just TOLD you what you were doing wrong. I'm starting to think you really have no business doing this yourself.
If you end up with a zImage file, you unzipped it one too many times. Put the file that CONTAINS the zImage file into Odin.

[Q] Reinstalling stock firmware no tar file after extraction?

I would keep well away from pit files if i where you! You should only use pit files if you can't boot your phone and have tried everything else pit files have the potential to brick your device..That said have you tried using a root explorer to look at your system files?
Edit just seen you have a T mobile edition you need to post your question here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-t-mobile any advice or files flashed from this forum could brick your device.

What's the point of posting meaningless comments on XDA!! Every comment you have made in peoples post's is useless and not helpful do you want to get band before you have even started. If you have nothing to say that's is constructive and helpful to the thread then don't post or you will be reported!

Indeed the i9300T is the same as the i9300 in all hardware aspects.
The 'T' version has the baseband optimised for the 850 Mhz frequency range to get a better reception from Telecom.
Its an Australian/New Zealand Version

You couldn't find one? Then you didn't to search very hard, as a 30 sec!ond search pulls up multiple sources for what you want. The stock recovery is of course contained in all of the full stock firmware images. So you could simply download a full firmware image from any number of places and use winrar to get the file that you need. Or a search would have also shown you that a member named toastido has already done so for you.
