So this is my first time installing a rom to my TB. I have installed many roms on my DX but through clockwork.
First question will i need to flash the new radio through Hboot before or after the rom
Second question will i flash the rom through clockwork or from hboot?
I know how to flash via both methods so any direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Ohh and I am rooted S-off already.

Radio through Hboot - Before OR After ROM. I did it before, and it worked fine - I've seen some do after, and it works too.
ROM - you can flash from Clockwork recovery, just like you did with your DX (other method is through Rom Manager, but since you're used to flashing through clockwork, I'd just do that (I came from a DX, too))
awesome thanks for the quick response. Hopefully the rom + radio combo will help with battery.

It should - I've been able to jump back to using the stock battery and get a full day's use out of the phone
FYI. There have been some issues with the radio included with Bamf1.5 causing random resets. If that ends up happening to you, Adrynalyne was kind enough to post up some different radios combos to try and avoid any reboot issues. I myself am running great on the radio that comes with Bamf 1.5, so just be ready for that. Switching and trying the different radios, you'll see, is pretty quick anyway, in case you need to.
yea i had upgraded my stock rooted rom to the newest cdma/lte combo from Adrynalyne and it started rebooting so i went back to the original radio cause I didnt feel like messing with it then. Ill have to grab all the combos before i shut my phone down as long as my 4g stays up long enough.
Thanks again for all your help up running Bamf remix 1.5 on the newest radio

Put it on sdcard, reboot to hboot and flash."
I flashed the rom just fine, however I'm confused on how to flash the new radio. The new radio zip file is on the SD card....how do I reboot to hboot? Flash it once I'm in hboot? Step by step instructions appreciated.

Power down, press power and volume down at the same time to get into Hboot. Install the PG zip.
Make sure PG05IMG.zip is on root of sdcard
Power Down
Hold Volume Down and Power button at same time.
hboot will come up and check for PG file
Press power up when asked to start update
Radio will flash
After flashed press power to reboot when it says so.
If you have Clockwork installed it might boot to recovery screen afterwards. If it does just hit the home button on reboot now.
Hey guys, sorry if this question has been asked already. I searched (for over 2 hours, but couldn't find appropriate answers so i decided to ask a question). I don't want to brick my phone as I don't have money to get another one.
So I have a Tmobile HTC Amaze (rooted, s-on, Unlocked bootloader) I was running energy rom (GB version) for month or so. Now i want to flash Mike1986's ice cream ROM. Like they said, I installed/paid for 4ext Recovery.
I just need clarification on the steps? In MIKE's forum they kept talking about flashing firmware (i didn't understand what that was).
Can someone point me in right direction.
How do I go about flashing Mike's ROM without doing S-OFF.
Thanks for the help!
It's no big deal. Just download the file and save it to your external sd card or (if you don't have one) save it to the main directory of your internal card. Reboot the phone into the bootloader and the firmware package will automatically install. After that, you can reboot into recovery and flash the rom like normal. Make sure to delete the firmware file from your sd card afterwards though or if you ever boot back into bootloader it'll reintall itself again.
Why don't you s-off its really simple.

SO I placed MIKE's ROM File on a NEW SD card and went to bootloader menu from 42xt recovery, nothing popped up asking for update?
You need to place the firmware on the sd card first. It's named PH85IMG.zip . Once that is on your sd card, reboot the phone into bootloader, not recovery. If you're not sure how to do that, here's a foolproof way:
1. power off the phone
2. pull the battery out of the phone and reinsert.
3. HOLD (very important) the volume down then also push and HOLD the power button. The phone will automatically start into bootloader and load the update firmware.
The phone should restart afterwards. At that point, you can install Mike's rom from 4ext recovery.

Ok i did that with the named file. It started loading and then went to the bootloader menu again., but the only thing i saw was "parsing" and no "restart" like u mentioned. Did i miss something?
At this point, I'm going to facepalm myself - you're s-on. I apologize for missing the obvious. It's a little more complex now. You'll first need to relock your bootloader. Then you have to download and flash the entire ICS leak. If you were s-off, then the process I outlined would work. No sweat though, I'm running ARHD 2.2 with s-on. Just follow this guide:

Haha sorry you missed that, i will try this. thanks for your help!
the issue I have is that I unlocked the bootloader through HTCdev I flashed AMOnRA recovery worked fine, then I did the s-off with the wire trick and that worked fine, I installed the Jb_hboot for ICS and then I did RUU of the 3.14.605.5 then I wiped and flashed Business_ICS4.0.3_Sense3.6-v4.0 but I get reboots if I go into the dialer and try to dial a number, and I can see my external sd card, but if I flash the GB patch i dont have anymore reboots, but I lose the ability to see and use the sd card when the phone is on. what the heck i`m im doing wrong i have wiped many times and reinstalled many times and no joy, I have used a different rom and it does the same thing.
Have you tried unmounting and formatting the sd card?
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using Tapatalk 2
yeah I have tried that, the thing is that without the GB patch flash I see the SDcard ok but I get reboots but with the GB patch flashed I get no more reboots but no sdcard, but I shouldn`t have to flash the GB patch since I have ICS firmaware, driving me crazy I even tried the sdcard fix no workie
When you did the ruu, did you boot into boot loader a second time to let it finish updating? If not, you probably don't have the new radios.

What he said RUU needs to flash twice so you currently have a hybrid firmware. A second flash will install everything.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using XDA
i see I will give that a try
no joy I ended up flash the RUU_Vigor_VERIZON_WWE_2.01.605.11_Radio_RS_0.95.00.1123r_3161E_9K_QMR_release_233635_sign
any went backwards, funny thing is I thought it would relock the bootloader and turn s-on but it left it unlocked and s-off so I will have to reflash the ICS stuff and see what happen
When you flash the ics "ruu" through hboot, it will appear to finish, but it really doesn't. Make sure to re-enter hboot and volume up to update one more time. This finishes the second part of the update, which includes the radios. Let us know if it works out for you.
yeah I tired several times of rebooting the bootloader and flashing the ICS Ruu as PH98img and nothing so I reverted back the stock exe. file like I did before and I flash the business ICS rom and flashed the GB patch and everything is working fine but I can`t figure out why it won`t flash correctly with the ICS RUU all I know it doesn`t reboot on me and I can use my SDcard
My daughter has a stock Thunderbolt, which has worked since Christmas. All of a sudden a couple weeks ago, she woke up and it was stuck in a boot loop on the HTC splash screen.
I'm still able to get into bootloader, but unable to do a factory reset, or flash a stock RUU. Cannot boot into (stock) recovery. As soon as it tries to load the recovery console, it starts the splash screen looping again. Seems like recovery is corrupt or something
I've tried some unbricking processes, but nothing has worked. If I could get adb to see it, I'd just root it and put cwm on it, but can't get that either.

Any help is very much appreciated. Verizon store said they can't flash a fresh recovery on it, or the latest RUU...
Nothing? No suggestions?
Maybe something herehttp://androidforums.com/thunderbolt-all-things-root/449138-boot-loop.html will help...
What won't work with the RUU?
It possibly could be caused because of a corrupt sim card and/or a corrupt SD card. Try removing the SD card and see if it will load up. If still nothing, take it to Verizon for another sim card. If you go into a corporate store, they won't charge you for another sim.
Just a couple of my suggestions.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda premium
I will try that link above.
I brought it into a privately owned verizon store on Thursday, explained to them what was going on, they said they have no idea, and I should bring it to a corporate store, so I did.
I told the guy exactly what was happening. He assumed a read a few things on the internet, so treated me like I've never used a phone before. I have had a G1, Evo, and Evo 3D...all rooted and mega customized, so not like this is my first attempt at using a smartphone.
I've tried booting without the sdcard, same thing. I've tried booting without a sim card, same thing. I tried with another verizon LTE sim card, same thing.
When I try to flash anything, I put the zip on the sdcard, power on to hboot, let it load the zip, then it does nothing, just sits at hboot. I scroll down to recovery to be able to select to restart or power down, press power, it goes to the white HTC splash screen, then the circular arrows above the phone, then to the red X, then back to HTC splash screen and boot loops the splash screen.
I can tell you your recovery is gone. Try downloading the hboot flashable cwm again and flash that in hboot. If you can get into recovery maybe you will be able to flash a rom again. You may also want to reformat your sd card or even try a different one.

that's exactly what I told the verizon dude, that recovery is gone and all they need to do is flash it back on, he said that's not possible, handed the phone back to me and said "have a good day".
I knew it was a long shot when I went in there and had to tell them how to boot into hboot, and how to remove the battery.
Don't I have to be S-OFF to flash cwm? Remember, it's stock, unrooted, and S-ON

Because when hboot loaded it, which took a few minutes to load and verify, it then automatically went into recovery to actually flash it, which put it right back into the boot loop.

Now that I think about it, it shouldn't have to go into recovery to flash it, it should have been just fine from hboot....but...after I flashed the RUU, it did reboot into recovery, and started the loop
So did you remember to clear cache and dalvik cache? That would put you in a boot loop every time.

No...it's stock, stock recovery, stock rom, S-ON...she brought it to me in this condition. It's not a rooting gone wrong. If I could get the laptop to see it, I'd root the damn thing so I can get cwm on it.
When she brought it to me, it was in this exact state. First thing I tried was to boot into recovery, which didn't work. So I googled for 'thunderbolt boot loop' and started trying things.
Before I go any further, I'd like to thank everyone for their input and thoughts. She's 12, and I really don't want to have to buy her a new phone.

Try redownloading the ruu
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
I have the exact same problem, I am using a custom rom, killasense.
It loads to HTC splash when I try to connect to computer or try to go into recovery from revolutionary. It says S-OFF on revolutionary, not sure what it means.
Please update if you find a solution, I am trying to do a factory reset, but cannot.
If it says s off that means the phone has been rooted. You're running killasense which is a custom rom.. If you want to go back to stock simply download the most recent ruu, put it on the root of your sd card and rename the file to PG05img. Reboot into the bootloader press the power button to enter fast boot. It will ask you if you want to update select yes. After it completes make sure you rename the file so it doesn't try running the ruu every time you enter the bootloader. Also check the md5 before you try to run it.

I downloaded the 2.1 mecha ruu and tried to load it in hboot, and it said the existing Rom is older. So that mean I can't flash a newer ruu? Gotta be the same or older?
Since I don't have a thunderbolt, I'm not familiar with ruu versions, any way to tell in hboot so I can download the same or older?

I put a new rom file (BAMF SoaB) into the SD card and renamed it PG05img, went to Revolutionary it said loading PG05img, but after it loaded it did not show a yes or no prompt. It went back to home screen of revolutionary after saying "No image or wrong image", still stuck on boot loop splash screen.

This is where it gets weird... I woke up to my phone like this. I uploaded a picture of the bootloader screen... Its relocked and will not allow me to do jack... Im not the best at development and relatively inexperienced... I desperately need help. Please.

Do you have HTC sync installed?
Have you tried to download a complete RUU in PH98IMG.zip form and see if it will install from the bootloader?
Here is a link...
Flash ruu of your choosing then use the toolbox to install amon ra. When in doubt use ruu to get back to square one. I have had to do it a few times lol.

I downloaded the 4.0.3.xxxx ph98img.zip from I can't remember where and tried throwing it onto my sd card but when I booted the phone I to hboot it did nothing. I'll try again if someone can guide me through it. And this is my fault for thinking after being out of the tech loop for years that I could jump back in and do a full root and rom flash without much more extensive research. I found out what happened also. My gf was trying to get the phone to turn on and couldn't figure out what was happening and turned out she was playing with the volume rocker and power button. Have it named PH98IMG.zip(watch your filenames, be careful not to name it PH98IMG.zip.zip). But first try reunlocking again and see if you get boot. If you at least get boot animation that tells me you have a working boot partition. If not then you would need to reflash a boot.img. If you are adamant about gaining root, you could have just flashed a custom rom after flashing Amon RA + a data wipe along with proper boot.img in fastboot.

Simple steps I used when I was in an HTC boot loop.
1. Relocked and installed the stock ruu.
2. Unlocked and flashed the recovery partition using fast boot flash recovery recovery.img (name of your recovery image you want to use.)
3. Used recovery to install su.
4. Profit.
You can also use fast boot to install asop boot images. But for now if you want root use steps 1-4. It worked for me when I borked the heck out of entire phone. ( I had no recovery even after fastboot flashing the recovery partition.)
