Is there a way to create an SBF file by combining other files? If so I believe I can get whatever files we need. Is there a way to extract the SBF or do we have to get a leak from Motorola or Verizon? I really want to get development started on this as I am itching for a custom rom.
Leak from vzw or moto. Id pay if someone knew someone

I just want a rom without all the bloatware...this phone would be AMAZING without all the un-necessary crapware!
I would donate for a custom rom as well. Should get a bounty going on this somewhere, just don't know where to set it up.
I'd throw some money at it.

Well im am actually going to an interview tomorrow for a Verizon wireless store sales rep and given the opportunity I will most definitely slap an shy file or 2 on a flask drive and get it to the power at be so they can do what they so best !

I got a new Droid X2 a couple weeks ago. I wasn't happy with how slow the phone was so I attempted to root my phone and remove the bloatware. To make a long story short I now have a phone stuck in a boot loop. Apparently the only fix is to flash it with an SBF file. Does anybody know of it being leaked yet? Are there any good resources to keep an eye on where it may get leaked to?
nope. just pay attention to the boards here and elsewhere.
I've checked the forums in every category for the DX2 every day waiting for some one to say they got one.

I have come across a motorola droid x2 dev phone
from before the phone actually released.
might help root procedures for someone who knows things
Blur_Version .1. 10. 1. mb810. verizon. en. us
firmware 2.1
baseband 2.6.29-omap1
hrpw76[not a link]il93lnxdroid13 #1
bootloader fastboot mode:12.01
Well its certainly interesting.
Do you have the capability to do a complete dump of the device for some of the big brains here can pick at?
Moved to proper forum.
I could do a dump if someone tells me how.

Are you sure this is a Droid X2 and not a Droid X? Does it have a camera button? Just asking because the blur version is mb810 which is a Droid X

The 810 is a droid x, and the X2 was never on 2.1.

I am thinking about running the MIUI room that just recently came out on ROM manager, but I don't want to flash it if I cannot get back to stock and not receive the GB update when it comes.
Is there a reliable way to get back to stock yet? I have tried making a backup of my current state but every time that I do my X2 restarts...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes you can get back to 100% stock.. There is a flashable SBF that does it.

I don't think MIUI is available for the X2. Check the X2 development forums. The SBF thread in particular. The answer yo your questions are there.
Sent from my DROID X2
I think the naming conventions of Droid's has caused a lot of confusion. Many things have been released for the Droid X and the Droid 2 at the same time, leading people to post about updates to the Droid X/2, which in fact is not the Droid X2.
I know MIUI is available, it is on ROM manager on my X2. And I found out about the imminent GB update on the X2 general forum.
So unless there are a lot more people than me "confused" by the names of Motorolas Phones, than I think it is probably true that GB will be here as a 2.3.4 build soon enough. I think that is why not much development has been done on this phone, why develop on Froyo when GB comes out so soon?

I haven't heard of any X2 owner using ROM Manager. A far as I can tell, to date, there are only derivatives of that chinese ROM floating around. I would research more before you flash whatever you see in ROM Manager. Unless you are skilled enough to un-brick your phone.
But hey... Let me know how that works out for you.

I will see what the DEV part of the forum says, but I will probably try to flash it tonight.
I will let you know how it goes.
Rom manager its probably seeing your phone as the atrix. You don't want to download a rom for the atrix, it will not work and you will be forced to sbf back to stock. There is currently only one rom fire the x2 and at least 3 others in the works.

Yeah I downloaded it from ROM manager and tried flashing it. It got about 2/3 of the way through the install and rebooted.
Had to go back to stock. A slightly annoying process, but i figured I may as well try and let the community know the results.

Im not rommed but im rooted, but i hear lots of people talk about SBFing to stock so they can get the update, but if your just rooted doesnt it not matter?
EDIT, never owned a Droid and have always used phones with easily unlocked bootloaders so this whole SBF thing is new to me
My experience with other droids, You will get the update still but it might fail installing if you are rooted. Some custom roms remove the ota ability.
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Also theres a good chance the sbf will not work if you take the OTA update just ask the atrix users
No root, no upgrade. I've got my Honeycomb tablet rooted, rom'd, and OC'd faster than the phone, I can hold out until Verizon allows a full unlock if I have to.
How would the abc not work after the ota? DROID x users can sbf from .496 back to 2.3.340 .then again I understand this is a new phone .... and ATRIX users can't sbf back to 2.2? Wow.

abc? I'm assuming you mean sbf.
The x did lose their sbf ability, then they got a new one. Any time a OTA updates the bootloader, the current sbf becomes worthless. New bootloader needs a new sbf.
BTW so far this isn't 100% confirmed but it *looks* like the x2 gingerbread update contains a new bootloader, meaning it probably will hard brick your phone if you try to sbf. So if you already updated, have fun waiting for the dev team to find an exploit to root 2.3.4. You basically updated to a D3 minus the keyboard.

I don't plan on updating until GB is rooted.
Seems like a lot of people around the net upgraded not knowing it can't be rooted, or are disappointed in the update (for trivial reasons). I will wait to see what P3 is doing today with it via his Twitter https://twitter.com/#!/P3Droid
I am waiting. In cases like this I suspend my usual early adopter mentality. I'd like to be able to root and sbf. I bought the phone after I saw the sbf (and days before Verizon implemented tiered data) so I feel no need to cripple myself.
That said, I am envious of those playing with their "new" phones today.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
well i voted i was going to stay (rooted and affinity rom), but i broke down and upgraded... havent regretted it yet
To bad this isn't 2.3.4 its 2.3.3 one reason I haven't upgraded yet I want all the new blur features or im keeping root.

Here's my dilemma, I just went out and bought myself a Motorola milestone x2 which I have through a local provider. I believe this phone is the same if not very similar to the Droid x2. My problem is the fact I got it with the android version 2.3.5 and can't root with any sort of one click root off my computer. The plan is to sbf back to android version 2.2 or 2.3.3 but am not sure if I can use the Droid x2 files contained on this site and don't wanna turn the phone into an expensive paperweight so any input would be great. I've search for earlier versions of the milestone x2 but only can find phones w a slide out keyboard n don't wanna chance it.

I would try to find specific files for that phone. There seem to be significant differences between the Milestone and the X2. I would check over at androidforums.com, they have a few milestone forums, but nothing for "milestone x2." Can't quite find that phone anywhere actually. I'm almost 100% that the x2 sbf file won't work properly if you flash it on that phone.
Thats odd..I had the choice between this and the htc merge...went with this because of the duel core, 1ghz processor and bigger screen..plus I had some problems with htc phones in the past. I wouldn't have figured this would be so difficult to root

Same specs as the droid x2 as same visual.

To the op: could you post a screen shot of your system version thru build # on the about phone screen in portrait mode(or post the equivalent)? It could be you could try update.zipping the latest 1.3.413 of 235 found here in the "cheesecake" thread. You would do it from stock recovery and if it let you do it it might be the safest venture. Not recommending it as yet though.

Well here was to wishful thinking. Thanks for checking.
The phone wont work if he tries to update SBF with the droid x2s.. He wont be able to call n such.... The baseband will change and so will his PRLs....
The update.zip SHOULDN'T work on your device due to needed apk checks... you could try to edit it and remove the kernel flashes... that would be your best bet.
Well I'm hopefully meeting up with someone tomorrow before work who has the same phone and provider whose rooted..will post back with what I can
Sent from my Milestone X2 using XDA App
kool kool man... keep the REFs and Mods seperate till they become tested fully. They should ALL work because none of the mods so far flash the kernel, but still be careful because(TO MY KNOWLEDGE) we don't have a SBF for that phone. And It would suck balls if your baseband n stuff got flashed over.
Just post in the OPs that its for the Milestone x2 and one of the guys will index it for you in the stickies. Also, PM me when you get it rooted, and flash another rom. I need to see if something changes if you dont mind.
