Why does it always say "Conditional call forwarding active" when I make any call?
Hi there, basically I bought a new and sealed T-Mobile branded Samsung Galaxy SII phone from eBay and am using my 3 mobile sim in it.... I assume it wasn't originally locked when I bought it, as I went through the root and unlock method (ChainFire app), and the code was 00000000, and never at any point asked me to enter that code into the system, so hey, my 3 sim seems to work in it.... apart from the fact that for every call I make the message "Conditional call forwarding active" always crops up with a beep to go with it, then after a couple of seconds the call is made. It isn't a major problem as such I don't think, but hell it definitely isn't normal and is quite annoying after spending £400 on this otherwise amazing phone.
I have tried to fiddle with the settings but for some reason I cannot disable any of the call forwarding settings, some sort of error message crops up. I have phoned up the 3 network who I am with three times today and they asked me to enter a few # codes to sort the problem out, but I had no luck, and then they had me factory reset the phone using the option in the settings. I did that, and I still have this problem. I also get the message "Connection problem or invalid MMI" when entering most # codes, this seems to have happened after rooting, though I am not 100% sure if that is the case.
My phone is the Samsung Galaxy S II I900, just to confirm that.
I look forward to hearing from you guys
I am on Three and I get the same message although my S2 was purchased from O2 then rooted. I have not seen any other reports about this but the message has not bothered me.
I have the same message. Ave tried several hings without success, however since it really does nothing, I am starting to get use to it. But if someone knows how to solve it please let us know
voice mail
Hi guys i have this to but it only started when i activated my voicemail so i think its down to the voicemail
e.g if your on the phone and someone else calls they are placed forward to your voice mail ???
hope this helps
Hey there guys, thanks for the replies so far, glad to hear others are experiencing this annoying problem. I seem to have had this since rooting it, originally T-Mobile though I am 99% it was never "locked" to the network for some reason as I mentioned as I have never had to enter the 00000000 code, which the free ChainFire sim app gave me (seems like it means it is unlocked already???). The guys on the 3 helpline were giving me loads of codes which weren't of any help, and telling me about what options I could fiddle around with, but I had tried all of these to no avail.
Are people also getting the MMI message I mentioned in my original post, whenever they enter # codes in the dialer? It seems to me that both of these problems started at the same time (this error message and the forwarding issue - I am sure they are linked). It means, for example, I probably won't be able to set up a speed dial because of it, nor will I be able to use the "secret codes" as mentioned in the dedicated thread of the same name on this site.
Why is it a problem for some and not for the majority of people, we must have something in common which we have done with our phones which has caused this?
I really hope someone can sort this annoying problem out.
It's normal. "Call Forwarding Active" is displayed when all calls are forwarded. "Conditional Call Forwarding Active" shows when forward when busy, forward when unanswered, or forward when unreachable is selected. To make the message go away you'd have to disable the three forwarding options in their settings. The pre-populated number is always your carrier voicemail (read from the SIM) or Google Voice.

Cheers for the reply Barry, yeah I expect it is normal but the thing is I cannot change these settings, my phone won't let me as an error comes up. I know it's not a major problem, just a bit annoying I can't get it to go away. I can't disable those three things, I tried a few times already.
Plus, I constantly get the MMI error message, which I mentioned before, seems a bit of a coincidence how these problems started the same time. I can't enter the majority of "#" codes into the dialer, it always says "USSD Running" or something along those lines and then produces the message like 2 seconds later.
Any ideas? Thanks so far for the advice
I have this problem but unlike all others I cannot make any calls on account of it. When I try to disable call forwarding I get an error msg saying it's not supported by the operator.
There HAS to be a way to fix this. I cannot make any calls or use 3G.
Try this
menu-call-additional setting-select network default...
It work with my sgs2.
On the Galaxy S2 if you go to: settings-call-call settings-call forwarding-voice call forwarding -- You will most likely see that for unanswered or unreachable calls it's not disabled because it forwards it to your voicemail, that's why it says conditional call forwarding is active. If you disable all options you won't get the message but then unanswered calls won't go to voicemail.Hope that helps.

you realise thats almost a year old? Check the dates on threads before you post
ADMIN EDIT: True, but it is a current issue for some people so it's still valid to answer the question.
Doesn't work
My phone drops every call, even with SIM cards from different countries and in all conditions. Thinking this call forwarding might have something to do with it, I tried to deactivate it, first through the settings -- no luck -- than by reformatting the phone. Nothing, cannot get rid of it because it says it is set by the 2 different phone companies I use.
I don't mind the message but when I call someone, I can hear that the call is being sent somewhere, there is a 1st ring, then it rings the other phone. Does this have to do with call forwarding? Can it be interrupting the phone signal and causing the call to drop ?
I have also removed both the Turkcell and Telefonica SIM cards, put them into another unlocked phone and tried to cancel but as soon as I put them back, the message returns and my calls drop.
Im also getting this error when I updated to 4.1.2 and used galaxy s2 sim unlock
Has nothing to do with call forwarding !!!
The Message worked on all AT&T cell phones, since i can remember,. i been using go phones since 06..... and they all had this message when right after the number was just dialed, right after pushing the green phone icon button to dial it , right after entering the number to be dialed on the keypad.
I have found this message on LG Cell Phone 500 CU series... and all my other phones as well...
IT is NOT a CALL FORWARDING ISSUE>.. because i had worked on that for awhile myself...
IT is a Carrier Issue I believe.
and it doesnt happen ever single time , just on certain days . not sure, why... but perhaps, call your carrier and ask them what type of phone they have your phone listed as.
Then tell them the model and make u have. that might change things... Cell phone carriers know how to mess with your phone and break it too...
so if ur having issues with messaging, call forwarding, it just may be the settings the carrier has you listed or down for.
blah.
anyways. yes it is annoying, i just got a new phone, samsung galaxy express. it is starting to happen too on this one. but had it for a few days and it never showed up till about 2 days later.
I thing it is perfectly normal for your device to display this message, I'm central america and mine also says the same thing anytime i make a call "Conditional Call Forwarding Active. However since I have a prepaid or pay as you go plan with my carrier and whenever I have no more credits to make calls i get the message "Calling Barring Enabled". I guess it has something to do with your carriers settings, it doesn't bother me at all though since I'm already used to it so hope that helps.
Enabling call forwarding for real and then disabling it seems to work
I got the same error also on every version of the stock rom (it used to appear occasionally, though) on my Samsung Galaxy S2 (i9100, without g), in that case going into forwarding settings was enough, because the mobile used to read the current configuration from the network and recognized that there was no forwarding active!
I moved to Cyanogen Mod 10.1.3 / Stable and going into forwarding settings was useless... He was updating with the data from the newtwork, all the forwarding options were disabled but the notification message was still there...
I decided to enable it for real by putting a friend number from the same carrier and then disabling it immediately after, and it solved my problem! Hope it helps!
PS: I'm not sure that enabling the call forwarding is free of charge, just double check with your carrier first!

I had the problem. Just solved it. select any one sim. Select settings-call settings-call forwarding-make sure all the options listed therein are disabled. Do this selecting all your sims one by one. The problem will have solved.

Hey guys,
After switching to Giffgaff, my phone number says unknown in 'about phone'
How can I fix this?
Although not important, as everything works as it should - its just very annoying to see 'unknown'
Mine also says this, but functions perfectly well. I'm on Vodafone.
I'm not particular bothered so never posted about it, but if there is a solution, I wouldn't say no.
Giffgaff is unknown as it has no CSC entries is my guess .
Does not even work with a O2 CSC .

The orange sim I came from displayed my phone number perfectly.
I wonder if pulsar knows a fix, he's a giffgaffer aswell. Hmm
put your sim card in a phone like something old i did it in a samsung tocco and you can edit the sim card number put it back in your sgs2 and it will appear then, it worked for me.
Neither does mine but i cant say it's ever bothered me although my Irish number does show.
screenshot of my Giff Gaff
I've never had the phone number in "about phone", so for me it isn't a problem, but i'd be curious to know why.

Likewise but not an issue as it's in my head.

Try this
Go to contacts, then contacts at the top of the slide bar, then push the menu key.
You will now see options. Go to my profile, put you mobile number there etc. It should now show after a reboot.

Thanks, but didn't work.
Still shows as unknown.
I have a feeling this might be network dependent. Mine's never been displayed and it's not an issue. As long as your IMEI is OK you shouldn't have any dramas.
ive already told you how to do it

I don't know why everyone else keeps posting. This is the commonly accepted answer, and the one I used too (though I used an old Sony Ericsson).
And in the time I took to make this message, I see E_Goldstein has stated the same .

Thanks, I missed your message as someone moved my thread. Lol
It just so happens, that my dad uses a crappy Samsung tocco mini, I tried your suggestion....
IT WORKED! (+1 given)
The number I typed in, is the number that's showing.
So, rather than reading my number (which it isn't doing), its showing whatever I typed on the Samsung tocco as my own number.
But not bothered about that, as my number now shows on the sgs2 woop whoop
However, if I changed my number (which I wouldn't) - I'd have to pop it back into the tocco and manually change it. Lol
I changed the number with an old SonyEricsson K800.
But the question now is:
Is it sure to have the phone number memorized in "about phone"?

And if I do not have an old phone to use?
A possible solution could be to do a Nandroid backup of your current rom, flash CM7 or CM9, put your phone number in, then restore your backup. I haven't had to do this as I use CM9, but I don't see why this wouldn't work as the number is stored on the SIM.

you guys are for real? Lol.
Easiest fix is using cm9, open dialer than its properties, and enter your number lol.
Don't remember if stock ics have the option in dialer, on GB at the moment
Hi ya,
the guys from android-hilfe.de sent me here because they cant help me anymore. I brought the HOX+ 3 weeks ago on ebay local. the first week everything went fine and then out of a sudden I cant sent SMS or call anybody. when I try to call anybody (no different if I enter the number by hand or chose it from the contactlist) the connection isnt established. no error message, nothing. just "beep" and thats it. I use a vodafone simcard and if another vodafone user tries to call me, he gets the same "beep" like me, when I try to call. SMS dont reach me either. the sender gets an error just seconds after he tries to sent. I cant sent it too. BUT i get access to the internet. surfing, whatsapp and the facebook-app works fine. I had switched off wifi to make sure the connection is established through my vodafone carrier...and it is.
I called my provider an they say it must be the simcard - so they sent my a new one. but it doesnt helped. the same errors like before. then i tried to chance my simcard with a friend who uses o2 in his galaxy S3. my sim worked in his phone perfectly and his sim in my HOX+, too. Then i took the simcard of another friend whos also using vodafone and put it in my HOX+. the problems with calling and SMS were the same. my sim card was working fine in his HD2. so i tried more and more...it seems that only vodafone simcards got the problem with my phone. i also tried to reset the HOX+, deleted call forwarding, which doesnt fix the problem too. even gsm-codes like #004# or *135# wont work and a got the error message "Connection Problem or Invalid MMI Code".
because i brought it on ebay i´m afraight it might have been stolen and locked by the provider - is there something like simlock or netlock? and if yes, how to fix it?
please excuse my bad english and thanks a lot for your help in advance
http://www.imei.info/
use that to check if it's stolen
Hi Lexx,
nice to see you here .
I dont think that is stolen ( more I hope so ). First check that out , maybe you or someone else is able to unlock it, if it is simlocked.
If it is stolen I would force as much preassure as I can to the seller...
Paypal or a complain to the police
thank you for you warm welcome.
i just checked the imei at imei.info and can't see any clue that the phone was stolen. do you need any information provided by the homepage or how to go on now? the phone still isn't working (except internet).
Goto the Vodafone website,
In their support area you can find a formulae to reapply network settings.
I had the problem you described with my dhd, reapplying carrier settings fixed SMS and calling.
Alternatively you can manually crosscheck all settings.
Regards
Alex

well I crosschecked the settings at least 10 times. they are definately correct. A konfiguration SMS cant be sent by 1&1 (a reseller of vodafone i use) because I cant receive sms at all. so my problem is still there. I recognized, that after I try to sent a SMS the connection always breaks down and I have to enter my pin-code again.
It seems there's something very strange with that phone. maybe any kind of lock?!
ps:
i can sent MMS but do not receive them.
Did you try a factory reset?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using Tapatalk 2
yes i tried software reset in the settings menu. But i didnt worked
Sounds like you need apn settings

are you sure? The settings are correct and internet and mms wouldnt work if the settings were wrong. Right?
Depends and you said the Sudan? Hmm may be its a band issue. If your not on the same gsm bands your not going to receive voice. But if your on a compatible data band you will receive data. Now call your service provider and simply ask if the settings are correct. And there are data only Sims so you gotta watch out. Call the service provider and see what's what
. Good luck!

it worked some days until it suddenly stopped working. i already got a new simcard and checked the settings. they're right. but i found out that i'm not the only one having this problem:

i just use the carries 1&1 (a german reseller of vodafone),but the problems are the same... and it seems there's no solution to fix it
maybe you got a clue?
Hmm ok how is the signal?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
depends on where I am. Right now in the middle of berlin it says hsdpa with maximum signal.
Can you tell me what the right settings would be when I enter *#*#4636*#*# ??? there are loats of information and maybe there it can be seen which is wrong.
any clue? Well I found out that there is something called "vodafone protect" which seems to lock and/or delete the mobile when it's stolen. maybe I bought a protected one Or should this be "deleted" when I reset by menu??
[Q] "no sim" error on my other carrier, currently overseas can't make calls.
Hello everyone,
Long time reader first time poster because I have searched for the past 2 days to solve my problem but it is kind of an emergency at this point.
I am currently overseas, last year I was here I was running stock GB and unlocked the simlock by contacting AT&T and getting a code. This year I am upgraded to stock JB but I get a no sim error with my overseas carrier and the phone doesn't ask for code at all. I tried putting in the ATT sim again and that works but can't use it here because its too expensive. I have tried other people's sim cards (total of 3) all of them get no sim error. This tells me the sim lock is still on there but I can't do much since it doesn't ask me for code.
I have also flashed siyah kernel and paranoid rom since coming overseas still no luck. This was mainly because stock JB was horrible.
I tried galaxy s unlock app but won't see my internet connection, I am not sure if it would be able to solve my problem anyway. I can't try the paid version of sim unlock because I can't get it charged to my ATT bill. I heard there is a free version but couldn't find it after searching for hours, seems as the developer wants this to be paid anyway.
I tried choosing multiple carriers under network settings but no luck.
I am sorry if I missed something obvious. Seems like Kies\ATT messed up something while upgrading me to JB
I have contacted ATT to ask if their JB upgrade locking sim is a known problem but all I got was a "are you sure you did it right". I have an unlock code from ATT though, just can't use it because the phone doesn't ask for the code, just says "no sim, emergency calls only"
I have flashed different modems just to see if that would help, nope
I have searched and read every similar thread, I would search more but I really need to solve this quick. Sorry if I missed any details first time posting.
Thanks in advance.
Don't know if this will help since I haven't tried it, but I found this. Maybe this will allow you to enter the unlock code?:
If your Samsung is not asking for an unlock code and it only reads “Network Locked. Emergency calls only” or “Insert correct SIM card” you can use one of these two formulas:
#0111*UNLOCKCODE#
#7465625*638*UNLOCKCODE#
hmm both of them gave me mobile network available error, weird I would guess it wouldn't check for that.
,just to make sure , I just enter these on the keypad and press call right ?
With that type of code, you don't have to press call. If it is supposed to call up a menu or dialog, it will do so when the last digit is entered. If the phone does nothing when the last digit of the code is entered, then it is probably a code that is not recognized by the phone. So I guess those codes don't work for the SGH-I777. I don't know if this is dependent on firmware. I do know that unlock doesn't work the same on Jelly Bean. I've read the unlock methods don't work. See here. I guess you could flash ICS stock plus root and then use one of these.
or... can you call or chat with an AT&T tech support to ask how to apply the code in your situation?
I found a list of a lot of codes, tried some of the ones related to network lock, one of them asked for password, i entered it and it said unlock successful yet still not working. I just rooted to stock gingerbread still no sim error yet ATT worked and sent me a text for international rates.
I just don't know what happened whist upgrading to JB.
I have a similar problem where my unlock code that used to work no longer works. Just out of curiosity, does the Serial # shown by GalaxSimUnlock app match the one listed physically under your battery? I'm not aware of how to check for the serial number other than that app. On mine, I noticed it got zero'ed out, and if my hunch is correct, I think the unlock code recognized by the phone is based on that serial number (among other things), so the one supplied by AT&T won't work anymore. I'll have to get a new number based on that zeroed out serial number or change my serial number somehow.
Sorry I flashed another rom already but I will try to reinstall everything and check later today. Idk if the app works with gingerbread, it should.
Yes, it works with Gingerbread as I was able to use it. I was hoping that if I restored to Gingerbread, my serial number would come back. But no dice. I'm really curious to see what your serial number is.
just tried to check but the app keeps crashing on mine. I tried with anothe unlock app i got undefined under serial.
Hi
I've searched around and read a lot but couldn't find the answer to my problem.
Here is my issue.
When I dial a number, it tries to call then ends the call right away before it even rings.
Can't receive calls either.
Can't send sms, nor receive sms.
Additional info.
I have full signal and it says my carrier on the status bar
Imei is correct - same as back of phone
Phone is unlocked - checked status
Unlocked with Galaxsim unlock, paid version
used repair gsii by helroz, didn't work
apn is picked up by the phone
carrier sim applications menu shows but don't work
Went back to stock with mobile odin, all the way to gingerbread which I'm using right now.
Please advice on what to do, any help is appreciated.
Interesting; I've never heard of this particular problem before. The first thing I would try would be a different modem, because that's a very easy fix. Also, incorrect APN's could be a factor, even though you say you've already checked that. I would advise checking them again - slowly. Sometimes something as simple as an extra space (or lack thereof, in the case of the 'default, supl' portion of the APN) can cause them not to work correctly.
Good luck.
I've flashed different modems and that didn't work.
Caller ID in settings give error network or sim card problem it says.
Btw I'm trying with different by Sims and both work on other phones.
Apn is correct I double checked. It picked it up auto.
Let me if you think of something else.
Thanks.
