Hi. Is it there a root and unroot apk for sgs ii? I.e. like gingerbreak but using psneuter as needed by our phones?
(would like an easy way to root and unroot without a pc so I can use some apps that don't like root, like "good for enterprise" email)
I did google and lots of questions but no answers.
Thank you.

I'm not sure but i don't think that there's an apk. But you could try to flash a custom-root-kernel like this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
I also think it's an very very easy way to root your device. Takes less then 5 minutes for me

Thanks. It's more switching back and forth I'm after. I am already rooted

The only way currently is to flash back to a stock ROM after root. The gingerbreak exploit was patched before release.

I had rooted on stock ka6 using one click super user. Recently I updated to kb5 stock using kies.
But looks like I lost the root privileges, though I've superuser app in applications. I've uninstalled
Superuser and tried rooting using one click superuser, but could not as one click application failed.
Any inputs on how to get the root.

You could follow the going back to stock guide, then flash a new rom. Takes an hour tops.
Use superoneclickroot v1.9.x.

**You might have to install busybox separately because it doesn't install properly at times.**
Thanks man it worked.

I don`t think so. You can install/flash either with cwm (on your phone)or odin ( on your pc). To flash with cwm i guess you already need to be rooted.
so without pc i cant root and not install clockwork?

Ya same question.. Can we root without pc??? Please any solution...

Would be great to root with update.zip like on the ace. Makes a lot easier!

You have to get a foot in the door by flashing cf-root Kernel or a rooted custom rom with Odin.
As soon as cwm is installed on your phone you can flash a lot without Odin.
Maybe you can ask a friend. Flashing a Kernel with Odin takes only seconds.

Wouldn't it be extremely dangerous being able to gain root access so easily via a simple app? Malware authors would rejoice I guess.

There is when superuser comes in

As Sammy devices can - unlike most other Android devices - just be flashed with anything (from a PC running Odin) due to nonlocked bootloaders, no one pulled the effort to look for exploits to gain root as it's simply not needed.
99.9784% chance that (as of yet) you really need a PC and Odin to root.
hello guys i rooted my samsung s2 using super one click.when i install busybox its says error. i try all version but still the same....
Just use CF-Root. Simplest and quickest way to root your phone now a days.

Whats the error? Download app like root checker from market and check if you are fully rooted. If not I suggest you rooting via Odin, there are plenty tutorials for this and doing it this way you will have no such problems (never happend to me )
Hope this helps .

Hi, I was wondering if it was possible to install the AOSP SMS app without root? The touchwiz SMS app is annoying me and I'm not quite ready to start flashing new roms.

Don't believe so, since you'll need to access /system on the phone, and you need a root browser [with root permissions] to go there/ You can do the simple rooting process [literally takes less than 2 minutes] have root, stock rom with root access, then install the apk.

At the risk of being flamed, which process exactly allows root for under 2 minutes? Through Odin?
Is there a fix yet for the counter?

Don't really worried about the counter, if you rally so paranoid about it, ask how many people been refused for insurance or service from the counter, I rooted all my phones and by law they have to help you with the device, of course don't boot loop your phone by flashing something that doesn't belong to your s3(another carrier or model) I and you should be good, I have rooted over 10 devices (own devices) and had service in 4 and they never said anything, I even Sent my old evo rooted to asurion and I don't get charged for the new one they sent me

I want to root my Galaxy S2 and have ICS or Jelly Bean or the best possible. I have been reading guides and tutorials on how to do this. I don't want anything to go wrong or brick my phone. One guide said I should get a new kernal, custom rom and a new OS to maximise the performance possible. All of this is getting very confusing for me and I don't know which direction to go. There are also two popular methods of rooting a Galaxy S2 which is using super one click or flashing an insecure kernal and then rooting the s2 using odin. I don't know which method is better but I would like to keep all the data in my apps which can be done using titanium backup. I would also like to have clockwork mod just incase anything goes wrong. The guides also said the best custom rom is by cyanagenmod. Could someone push me in the right direction and tell me what I should do and what I shouldn't.

What ROM are you on right now. Could you please attach a screenshot of the about section of your phone so that its easier to hand you the links to correct kernel? Briefly, what you need to do is to search the cf root thread by chainfire, get the cf root closest to your kernel version, and flash it to gain root access. What exactly would you like? Stock or custom rom? ICS or JB?

I got a stock rom right now. Exactly how it was when I first got the phone. Haven't updated. What is cf root? And can't I root using super one click? I want the jelly bean if that's the best I can get without any bugs or problems.

once u root u can backup ur apps with titanium backup and then after flashin a different rom u can restore it
So should I root using super one click?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Why do I need to update to ics? Can't I just root and then flash custom rom?
What would be the difference?

My friend wants to root his phone and I was wondering if he threw ya $50 if someone could remote his computer, root, and put the best Rom for a daily driver? Last question. He will be good with WiFi tether? Cause that's the main reason he wants to be rooted...

Just make sure he doesn't go to CM10 if he wants WiFi tethering. Its still buggy as it requires only open WiFi..
