[Q] [BOOTLOOP] VillainRom 1.4 + CF-Root 4.0 - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
First of all, I'm a newbie. I had my SGS2 two days ago and before I had an old Sony Ericsson...sooo I never made any things like install a new ROM or flash a new kernel with Odin, well, you see ?
So please excuse me if I say bullshits.
So, my SGS2 is actually running with a CF-Root 4.0 and Lite'ning Rom v1.4, everything is ok but! I saw the new VilainRom (v.1.4) and I read excellents comments about it (battery, speed, etc...)
So I wanted to switch!
I did a total wipe, I reinstalled the original rom from Samsung.
After this, I installed the CF-Root 4.0.
Next I downloaded The Vilainrom v1.4, I copyed it on my SD Card and I used CWM to flash it.
I waited few minutes, but the bootloader is always here, my phone is "bootlooping" !
So I again did a total wipe and re-install all. Properly.
Can you tell me why the hell I have a damn bootloop ? Please! Please!
I really really want to install this ROM!
Cheeeers
Manox94

try to wipe data from CWM then flash VR1.4 again

Ok, I did it but it's always the same. I really don't understand :/

i had the same problem, when i wiped the data and just let it reboot, without reinstalling it worked ok for me.

Oh yeah ??
I try this right now!

Doesn't work for me.

I would factory reset first .
That fails do a total wipe of the phone .
Wipe Dalvik catch format system from CWM etc .

[Q] Help, im stuck.

Hi all,
I'm stuck. So first i wanted to root my GT-I9100G. I'm newbie in things such as "rooting", "oc'ing" an android device.. Ok so I've been changed only kernel from stock to lucifr 1.6uv. I did it with Odin, then i installed SU_busybox with CWM and yea.. Now i have a "yellow triangle" when i boot up my phone he he.. I did not changed the ROM. But then i concluded that my phone became very unstable and now i want to PERMANENTLY remove superuser, cwm and all the stuff witch came with custom kernel. I want to get back my device stock and clear again but i don't know how to... Please help.
And yeah, when i connect my phone to kies, it shows i have available a new update from XXLA1 (witch i have right now) to XXLB1 and when i press update it does not do anything. Wata f? Maybe the problem is because i don't have a stock kernel?
Im newbie here. Thanks.

You can flash a stock firmware through odin, to get your firmware go here, and search for your model "i9100g" top right search bar, make sure you follow their instructions.
Ok, then all gonna be back to stock and cwm, superuser deleted? And do i need first to change custom kernel to stock, wipe dalvik cache, format sd card or smthing else?

Their is no need to change your kernel just flash the firmware, making sure that you wipe and clear data. You will lose root once you have flashed your firmware, but you can just root again.

Bricked my Galaxy S2 I9100

Hi all,
I was running XWLPT and decided to try Chameleon 1.3. After flashing, it would not boot up. I've tried all kinds of things for the last 2 days, and read quite a bit. I've even tried the method in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458
At the moment, I can get into recovery and I can get to download (power+vol down+middle button). But it's stuck at the Galaxs SII GT-I9100 very beginning boot up. Nothing seems to be working. I've tried several pit repartition and I know it's risky. But at this point, I have nothing to lose I guess.
Can anyone help?

Boot into recovery, wipe data (factory reset), wipe cache and try to flash the custom ROM again.
Good luck !
The issue is, I can't even wipe factory data. It will start and then just sits there, unable to complete the wipe. I'm so out of ideas.

Have you tried upload stock rom to phone on download mode? I saw your checked link, maybe you should try with different stock roms like 2.3.5 and etc.. If you try that, what the say ODIN as error?
Flash a siyah kernel with odin.afther you have cwm...

First of all stop doing things that you are not sure about...
If you can get into Recovery then your problem is simple.
1. Wipe Data/Factory Reset,
2. Wipe cache partition,
3. Advanced/Wipe Dalvik Cache,
4. Flash a new rom (from sdcars probably),
5. Wipe cache partition,
6. Advanced/Wipe Dalvik Cache.
Let me know if this helped.
Hey guys, I apreciate all the responses. panagiostis4te - I am unable to wipe data/factor reset. It just hangs trying to do that. I've let it sit and it never completes.
sinasi11 - ODIN never throws an error. Depending on what firmware I flash, it either get stuck at datafs or data. It just sits there. I've even left it overnight and nothing happens.
I was able to flash to completion a few or the 4.0.4 rom (XWLPF) and it would reboot, show the android logo with animated progress bar. Then it reboots and is then stuck at the Galaxy S2 very first boot screen. I'm so out of ideas.

Questions:
1 . Have you seen This Warning Thread before?
# I don't think so
2. Were you running a safe Custom kernel before flashing Chameleon?
# I don't think so.
Here are my conclusions
1.
You were affected by the infamous Brick bug.
# You should blame yourself for this, for apparently failing to read that sticky warning thread, or even ask questions before messing with your phone while running the Dreadful ICS 4.0.4 firmware!
2.
The reason why your phone is still partially coming on is because you have a partially insane emmc chip.
# If you were using a fully insane chip, your phone would just black out without any sign of life.
3.
Your Nand /Emmc chip is corrupt!
4.
You can try combinations of pit file and ICS bootloader (where suggested). Who knows, you might be lucky
# Visit here and try the suggested solution
## If it doesn't work, then you can try the combinations suggested here.
5.
Jtag service will probably not work for you.
6.
The only (probably) solution (if the suggestions in 4. doesn't work for you), will be for you to replace the motherboard of your phone.
# Changing motherboard costs between $120 to $200
7.
If your phone is still under a valid warranty, the best solution would be to send it to Samsung Service center. Repair if free.
Sorry about what happened to your phone, but you really must shoulder the blame!
jokesy - thanks for the suggestions. I accept the blame. I was running stock and I read the Chameleon 1.3 thread and didn't see any warnings. I thought everything was safe. I guess lesson learned the hard way!

have tried my suggestion 4 yet? any news?
It's a Monday and I've got lots of things I need to take care of I've tried some of the suggestions prior to starting this thread but I'm going to give it another shot. Meanwhile, I'm going to try and survive without a phone for a few days. I'm almost ready to give up. I'm going to work on it more tonight. Will post if I have questions. Thanks again jokesy!
jokesy - I want to report success. I tried several of the pit files and finally at
i9100_u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4--patched--brick-between-176-and-2323-MB--FACTORYFS-moved-by-2048-MiB.pit
I was able to get it to complete install and format with bootloaded. The device then booted up! I now have 9.5GB vs 11GB and that's OK. Thank you so much for your help. It's now not the perfect S2, but nevertheless, a usable one! I sincerely appreciated your help. Lesson learned truly the hard way!

Wow! that's a good news at least.
PS: Always try to go through all the sticky threads, they are made for some reasons. Also if you are not sure about something, search, if you can not find clear answers, then ask questions.
Enjoy your phone

A quick question. Now that the pit is different, I assume that the nandroid backup I made cannot be restored to the device anymore?

I seriously don't know but if you have any important thing you want to extract from your backup, follow these steps:
1. Flash siyah kernel
2. boot to CWM recovery,
- dual boot options
- restore ROM to 2nd ROM (you need about 2.1 Gig free in your internal storage)
- done
3. Boot to your Second ROM
- Extract all info you need
4. Restore these info to your 1st ROM
5. you can delete the Second ROM when done, using the same dual boot menu in CWM recovery.
Thanks Jokesy. I did have 2 backups, Titanium and another backup app (name escape me at the moment). I think I'll restore app data and do it that way instead.
Just go back to original OS

You can go back to the original OS using Odin and a package found on many sites for the original Gingerbread that came on it... then go to Kies and update to the ICS and there you go. I have done this several times and unbricked mine after a mod. This was the best way for me.

You said you have Titanium - it can restore elements out of a nandroid backup, almost everything, stright back into place. Much easier than second ROMs.

I've tried that and the flash would get stuck in Odin and never complete.

Good to know. I am actually waiting for my microsd to sd adaptor to arrive. I accidentally formatted my microsd card with all my data in desperation of trying whatever method to format the device. I accidentally selected format emmc. Took out the card immediately, and am hoping to be able to unformat it in windows since it's using fat32. Fingers crossed!

[Q] HELP! Stuck at Samsung logo!

Hi everyone,
First of all I would like to say sorry if I am posting the same question as other users before this, but I haven't seen any similar one.
My phone is Samsung Galaxy S II (I9100G).
Yesterday morning after I fully charged my phone, I got some error which I can't recall what it was. (Sorry! )
Then the battery drained very fast so I offed my phone and took out the battery to check if it was alright. Then I put it back.. and I'm stuck at Samsung logo (the big sharp S). I tried restart many times, wiped cache, replacing another battery but the problem remained the same.
I haven't factory reset it as I am afraid the photos and videos in my USB Storage will be wiped. :crying:
My phone is running on ICS and I have never rooted it before.
Can someone teach me what should I do to get back my data in the Internal Storage??
You kind help is very much appreciated.. Thanks alot in advance!!! :crying:
Infact you can wipe factory data. If you connect your mobile to pc and if you have any recovery software installed in your pc then you can recover your data.

And how do i know if it is compatible with my rom version? Will I be able to get back what's in my internal storage after I do that? Thanks for your advance help!

first you have to read n search...
flash siyah kernel via odin n DONT do any kind of wipes in stock kernel if you are on ICS 4.0.4. it has brickbug.
And all yr pics music movies will be safe by flashing kernel so dont worry about that. Factory reset or wiping data will erase yr user accounts, apps, contacts, SMS, call logs.

[Q] **HELP** Samssung Galaxy s3 stuck at booting screen

Hey guys first of all you have to know that im German and a student so sorry for my english.
My device: Samsung galaxy s3 (intl.)
I booted my phone and flashed my kernel some days ago and everything worked fine, then with the 4.2 update samsung hided the developer options on the devices. I knew that, and `activated` the dev. options again. Then i was scrolling around there and i enabled simulate secondary displays or something like that.. after doing that my Device rebooted on and on. It hanged upwhen i had to fill in my pin. At that point it booted again and again. Couldn´t do anything. I can get in cwm.
So my Problem now is that i `full wiped` my phone which i think means i wiped data/factory reset, then i wiped cache, then wiped delvik cache, then i formated /system AND i think data.. after that i installed cm and gapps again but my Phone stucks at the booting screen i really don´t know what to do. Please help me.
I can´t find the correct Version of the Stuck Rom too.. i think its not available for German devices or something.
Thanks :crying::crying:

You have installed a leaked beta, not an update from Samsung.
Follow the guide in general stickies on how to return your phone to stock. Sammobile does have firmware for i9300 in Germany.
Hmm I think it's more CM or gapps issue if you can't boot up your phone with these things.
If you can go into download mode you can try to flash Stock Rom using Odin.
And always remember before flashing custom roms make a backup of the stock one.

I attempted to root and CWM my Mega and that seemed to go fine..
I can run CWM 6032 without issues
So I proceeded to install a custom rom I firstly did full wipe / cache and dalvik then installed the rom.
It boots to samsung logo and just hangs..
So I went back to the drawing board..Dled fresh tar img flashed with odin just had auto reboot and F.reset time ticked but the phone is still stuck at the samsung logo and not doing anything else..
I just got this amazing phone and its bricked already
Starting to panic
Please help

OK After a good nights sleep things dont seem so bad
I got stock firmware loaded but I had to go into the stock recovery after the flash and do another factory reset / cache wipe

Good for you
I remember my first few flashes, with the little bootloop panic...
Usually, if one takes the time too pause and read and think (very probably someone had the issue, and the answer is here in the forums), then all those little issues can be fixed without too much trouble
hi man :>
i have flashed other phones before but noone gave me as much trouble as the mega..
glad she is running now
Real smooth atm with silentnight rom + an app off the store to decrease cpu speed..currently at 700mhz and i cant tell the difference!
Thanks for reply man
Yeah, every phone has its way.
I used to have HTC phones, and those seem to be the most annoying ones, with software updates locking the bootloader and such annoyances.
It might have changed now, though
I always make nandroid backup before flashing new rom, just in case things happen

Hi,
I am wondering if you have any tips or info on unbricking my phone.
I seem to be having this same problem.
It has to do with a knox update i believe.
you mention a bootloader lock..is their some method to unlock so that it will allow me to flash the rom again.
any information would be greatly appreciated..I am getting a crash course in this trying to get my phone back up and running
thanks
