I searched Stuck on Vibrant screen and tried everything I could. What else can I try???
I bought this phone from a friend who said it just froze on him. He wasnt rooted or anything.
----When I turn on the phone it gets to the vibrant screen and stays there.
--If I try the three button method, letting go of the power button when the vibrant screen comes on, it then starts a boot loop of that screen only.
----Get into download mode and using ODIN 1.70, I use the T959UVJFD and vibrant512.pit with re-partition checked and also unchecked. It stays stuck on Vibrant Screen for 20 minutes.
--Then I try the 3 button and same thing happens
----I ODIN "Eugene_2E_JK2_Froyo.tar.md5" and "s1_odin_20100512.pit" with re-partition checked and unchecked. It then gets into a boot loop of the little circle timer symbol, like its thinking or getting ready to charge for 20 minutes.
--Try the 3 button salute and get the vibrant screen boot loop.
----Try just turning it on and it just gets stuck on vibrant screen for 15 minutes.
----I then tried flashing the Zimage from "stock+Voodoo-Froyo-T959-UVJK6" kernal with re-partition checked and unchecked.
--Tried the 3 button salute both times and I still get the Vibrant boot loop.
I also tried with the T959UVJI6, get same results.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME. I DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO
First, i would recommend you to download the AIO Vibrant Toolbox because it have all the files you need, the latest version of Odin and all the instructions. Did you try unchecking re-partition when using Odin?
About your phone, usually, when you are able to go into download mode, and Odin can see your phone, you are not bricked, except, if there is any hardware issues.
Thanks for the quick reply.
I will try that next and then report.
Thank u.
Oh and yes I did try both checked and un-checked
So downloaded the AIO Vibrant Toolbox and tried using it with no success.
Still gets stuck on vibrant screen while waiting 20 min, even after battery pull the 3button salute will not work and it is still stuck on vibrant screen.
Any other ideas??
power off the phone
open odin
hold volume up and down
plug usb in
or
open odin
pull the phone battery
plug usb in
hold vol up and down
push battery back in (while holding vol buttons)
both of these ways should put you in download mode, if they dont straight away just keep trying and try different ports on your computer

Thanks, but I am able to get into download mode and complete the ODIN. But when the phone resets, it stays on the Vibrant Samsung screen.

So Odin finishes flashing, then it continues to loop?
You're US T-Mobile Vibrant correct?
I personally used this:
http://androidspin.com/2010/08/09/how-to-restore-or-recover-your-samsung-vibrant/
Use this: T959UVJFD.tar (worked for me, updated easily)
http://files.androidspin.com/downloads.php?dir=androidspin/samsung/vibrant/&file=T959UVJFD.tar
P.S.: Use the latest version of Odin. Search in the forums.
Yessir, it continues to loop.
It is the us tmo.
I believe I used odin ODIN 1.87 or somthing like that from the AIO Toolbox. I will try those links and search to sdee if there is a newer ODIN.
I really appreciate the help. I tried my best explaining everything I tried in my OP. Except now I am using the ODIN 1.87.

I love to reference that article!! LOL. I like the way that one starts, "So you've messed it up huh,....." rofl. That and it mentions JAC/JAD's thread, oh those were the days.
I got caught in the boot loop about a week ago and this worked for me as nothing else did to get back into recovery screen.
I don't remember if I pulled the battery or restarted the phone, but either way, once the phone was powered down, I held down the power button and both volume buttons, I waited until the VIBRANT logo came back up and BLINKED ONCE, then let go of only the power button, then I immediately hit the home button.
This brought me right back into recovery mode, well, clockwork recovery at which time I reflashed the rom prior that was working fine.
Might be worth giving it a shot.
I encourage you not to give up. I've been in similar situations before, and I always find it helps to exercise precise controls on your resuscitation attempts. Try using the same procedure in different USB ports, try using the same procedure 2 or three times in a row. Try Eugene's Froyo that does not brick and then going to stock JFD and then back to Eugene's again. Maybe try Heimdall.

Hello everyone. I have a question about the current state of my Vibrant. Coming from a G1, I just upgraded to the Vibrant and have been loving since. I rooted my device, installed Clockwork Recovery, and flashed a new Rom. I decided to switch back to the stock rom but now when I turn on my Vibrant, it just sits at the Vibrant Samsung boot screen... Here are the steps I did up until this point:
1. Starting from the Stock T-Mobile rom, I applied Root update zip but booting into Recovery Mode (Holding down the volume Up/Down buttons and then pressing the Power button).
2. Installed Clockwork Recovery, and then did a Nandroid Backup.
3. Using Clockwork, I installed Eugene's Vibrant7 rom (I left create ROM Backup and Wipe Data options checked)
4. Vibrant7 rom flashed successfully but decided to switch back. So I used Clockwork to boot into manual recovery mode, selected Nandroid and then Restore
After it finished the Restore, it now sits at the Vibrant Samsung boot screen everytime I power it up... I'm thinking I should have not have used the Nandroid Restore to revert back to the stock ROM (unless I'm totally mistaken, I never used Clockwork Recovery before and have flash roms before with my G1).
At this point, could I just reflash back to the stock firmwire using ODIN (Directions from this thread [ROM] OFFICIAL T-Mo Vibrant JFD ODIN/Nandroid Backup Images 7/29/10 (Tested/Working) in the Vibrant/Android Development section). Would that take care of my problem or is my phone currently 'bricked' or SOL?
Thanks in advance for any help or clarification
yeah just odin back to stock... Read the directions carefully
this exact same thing is happening to me. I have tried to follow the instructions to odin. but when I hold volume down and power it just keeps rebooting to the vibrant page. but if I hold volume up and down and power I can get into recovery but non of the options fix my problem. Am I screwed or am I doing something wrong.
i'm having the same problem...stuck on boot screen
i'm on the bell network, are there instructions on how to use odin to fix my phone?
Try this,
1. Take out simcard ms and battery
2. Make sure you have the right drivers for your os
3. Open odin
4. Put your battery back in
5. Hold both volume up and volume down, using two fingers,
just to make sure your not missing a button.
6. Slowly... SLOWLY... put the usb into your phone while doing step 4
7. Continue to hold,
8. Should be in dl mode
If your not take out the battery and repeat 4-7. If odin doesn't recognize your phone, try unplugging the usb wire and reconnecting it.
flashed a sgh t959 with a galaxy s i9ooo kernel oops
hi im stuck in manual mode and when i try to boot the screen shows two different galaxys s screens then goes back to manual mode and i cant get into down load mode it just goes back two manual mode was trying to root used wrong file i think im screwed i flash with oden and used i9000xxxhph tar file
Same with me, I think I soft bricked my vibrant, so I tried to restore to stock rom using odin. Odin detects it and runs stock rom just fine, but once it was restarting, the phone would not still boot up and would stay stuck at the vibrant samsung screen. I tried other roms such as froyo no brick, and i9000 stock rom also, would not boot also, just stuck at the samsung screen. What do I do? Odin works through the process fine though......why isnt it fixed?

OMG MAN!!! i love you! this did it for me, i even went and bough AND made a jig but none worked, didnt boot up into dl mode, just stayed stuck at vibrant boot screen, this did it for me, thx man, saved me hours of stress
yes yes yes! your mistake was using the power button! Lol.
FUTURE NOTE: if you upgrade to any gingerbread roms.... new bootloaders are required. If your JIG didnt get you into download mode before...... then it isn't working right. Once your into the the new Bootloaders for gingerbread, the sequence is........ HOLD VOL UP and POWER until you trigger DL mode. No USB required.... DO NOT FLASH NEW BOOTLOADERS WITHOUT A WORKING JIG IN YOUR POSSESION. TEST IT BEFORE YOU FLASH. I had...... an experiance.... lol
Not working

I tried all the instruction still stuck on Vibrant logo if i connect cable the Loader pix cums but doesnt load or show me battery image what to do now? also Odin doesnt recognize neither i can go to download mode!!!!!
If you can get in DL mode you are halfway there, next make sure you have correct drivers. Uninstall current drivers and reinstall correct drivers. Odin can be funny sometimes, you might need a new USB cable, try every USB port as well.
You can also use the All In One (AIO) program to get drivers and back to stock. If you are having issues with Odin try this

hi,
Once i gt a prob restoring. But then I re-flashed the ROM which the nandroid backup was taken and then in CWM selected advance and gave restore data option(as i remember).. (it was not full restore with system..b/c I flashed system separately)
You can go back to stock using ODIN .. as mentioned by Daddy_617 previously.
tc
Also if Odin doesn't work for you try Heimdall. I've seen post where this has worked for others.

relax, remove battery and turn the phone on again. you should be ok.
i took the battery out like 25 times still wouldn't work.
a replacement is coming
When I got that screen, holding down the vol up and vol down then popping the battery in launched me right into dl mode, and was the only way of all the methods that worked. Be sure you remove your sd and sim cards too. Good luck

I had this twice yesterday. You've got to wait longer when trying to get into dl mode, but that screen will flash black, when it does, let go of power.
Happened to me this morning.
After trying several methods with no luck I damn near had a heart attack.
Thankfully I found a thread by senior member Anderoid entitled "Solution to fix any brick". I followed the directions to the "t" and it worked like a charm.
I would suggest giving it a try if you have not already.
A way that has seem to work for me every time is while the phone is "OFF" hold the Vol +/- and at the same time plug the USB cable into my "phone" while the other end is already plugged in to your PC.
easiest way out of this screen (if your phone isnt hardware locked) is to hold the 3 buttons down, screen will flash black, then back to the phone ! computer, keep holding the 3 buttons down, screen will flash black again, release power.
Works every time for me.
I had a rooted vibrant running pretty nicely with all my apps optimized. ive always tried to install lagfix (voodoo, OCLF, UFL,), but none of them would ever work, they would just brick my phone and i would be stuck at the vibrant screen recovery loop.
no problem, i would go to download mode and flash odin...
few months later thought id give it another shot with the updates and such with voodoo...
again same thing... **** didn't work..
back to eugenes that does not brick and i was going to do the whole process again of getting back to the stock ji6.
in the middle of eugnes, there was a com error, dont know why, nothing was moved. the flashed had stopped in the middle.
took out the battery. and nothing. phone does nothing. plug it in, black screen. 3 button combo. black screen. not even the vibrant logo. and no charging screen.
black screen no matter what.
do i need to do the 'jumpstart' jtag method?
Google search it! It says dl odin and stuff just unbricked mine

you should post in Q & A next time. Anywhoo, can you get your phone into download mode?
I can tell you that I've been there, I can say with all certainty that this phone has recovered from the brink of of death so many times I don't even scare anymore. I just flash. You got to be patient I dug around Google and the forma and found the right combo that put me in download mode.
It was power and vol. down. No sim no sd.
I've learned that every phone responds to a different combo. Your phone isn't dead, just Samsung hibernating.

You seem to know what you are doing when it comes to flashing. All I can suggest is to try the various methods to get into download mode again. Some people have methods that work best for them. For instance, the 3 button combo never works for me. But pulling the battery, putting back in, holding down only the up and down volume keys (NOT POWER) and while holding insert the usb that the other end should already have been plugged into the computer.
but i'd say its safe to assume if you cant get to download mode by any of the methods on this forum, there is no going back.

Do a search for the jig also as a last resort, try checking in the bible I can't remember where that thread is, but it has helped quite a few people..
try two buttons combo up and power or down and power with the usb plug in
This is the absolute surefire way to get your phone into DL mode:
1.) Take out battery, SIM, and Memory card
2.) Connect phone to the computer
3.) Put battery back into phone while holding down up and down vol buttons
If your phone can still get into DL mode this way will do it guaranteed. The jig might also help but as far as I know it really only helps if your phone is hardware locked. If the above steps dont work for you then I'm afraid that the bootloader is gone and you are screwed =/
I saw a jig offered as a for sale item on the Team Whiskey forum. I believe it was around 9 or 10 dollars (maybe less) If you decide to go that route. Good luck!!!!!!!!!
thanks for all the replies everyone.... from what it looks like and to the extent of my knowledge, it looks like the bootloader is gone. my guess is it was flashing the bootloader? while the computer randomely decided to drop the com port?
anyhow, i refuse to let it die and am going to keep trying!
well that was weird. it worked. sim, battery, everything out, i held all 3 buttons, plugged USB and battery and let go of power all at EXACT same time and wallah! download mode. flashed eugenes, flashed UFD, then JI6. rooted, installed busybox, downloaded rom manager. found the backup i made before trying to install lagfix.... vibrant is stuck at 'vibrant' screen now... so flashed again eugenes, UFD, then JI6 again....
working normal again but i want my data from the backup....
advanced restore should i do? NOT restore the boot? only restore the data/system or or other options in clockwork recovery advanded restore? any help would be appreciated. first time trying to actually restore data from a clockwork backup.

What shows on your screen? R u completely bricked? Do u get a logo?. If u get the computer logo. Plug it in. Let the logo show up. Hold the 3 buttons. As soon as the screen turns black let go of power... let me know how it goes

Hello,
Please read the WHOLE post, as I've already done hours of XDA research and could not come across a similar situation.
I'm afraid that after months of flashing away, I've finally bricked my phone (for good).
I was ODINing back to stock from CM7, but something went wrong and ODIN froze. Not thinking it was a big deal, I took out the USB cable out.
This prompted my phone to not respond at all (no power, no recovery combo). However, searching around XDA, I found the way to enter download mode (through the plug in USB then plug in battery while holding volume buttons trick). I flashed the Froyo bootloaders, thinking that my bootloader was corrupted. This made the phone turn on to the "VIBRANT" screen, but nothing else. I still could not get into recovery mode through the 3 button combo.
I then proceeded to ODIN a JFD image, along with the 512 pit file. This put my phone into a non-responsive (read: no buttons work) state again, and so I flashed the Froyo bootloaders again. Once again, I was stuck at the "VIBRANT" screen.
Then I ODINed a JFD image without repartitioning with the 512 pit file. This continued to put my phone at the "VIBRANT" screen.
What went wrong?
I read up something about JTAG service; is this what I need? (From what I read, if you can access download mode, you're good to go, so I'm not sure if I "hard-bricked" my phone)
THANKS so much...
if you were on cm7 it was 2 button
3 button is for recovery
battery out\ reinsert battery
press volumeup\down insert usb cable.... downlod should appear
odin to stock

Yes, I have the original 3G Samsung Vibrant.
Sorry, but i had to ask, when you come out of odin and have green pass you should come out in recovery and either reboot or have an error message, yet you have the vibrant logo, is reboot checked? If all ese fails Aio toolbox, then you know pit, pda and if necessary drivers are correct. and not corrupted.
This is gonna take a bit more searching but your gonna have to find Eugene's froyo that doesn't brick. Odin that and then Odin back to stock maybe you can pm him for the files.

I figured out the problem--apparently the PDA file was corrupted. Internet here is spotty, so I guess it corrupted while downloading. I flashed the re-downloaded PDA file, and was able to un-brick my phone.
I have a samsung yp-g1 player. I was trying to flash the stock rom and something terrible went wrong. It was hanging there for like 40 minutes. I unplugged it from the usb and now when I push the power button, I see
phone, exclamation point, and computer. I purchased one of those galaxy jigs and all it does is load the same screen after 6 seconds or so. It will not go into download mode for nothing. Is there any help available? I greatly appreciate it.

Same here. That exclamation mark screen IS a download mode. Connect it to your computer while it's showing that screen and reflash whatever ROM you were trying to.
Sometimes that kinda stuff happens when the flash gets screwed up, but should be easily recoverable.

It's weird but once you install heimdall drivers you have to REINSTALL the drivers Odin uses, also it's best to use a different USB then the one setup for heimdall, but yes that is the "forced" download mode.
ok I'm making progress. I now have it out of the "Force download" mode. I flashed the stock "yp-f1cwyxaa" tar (device is a yp-g1cwyxaa) and now it just loops from samsung word to boot animation and repeats. What do I do now?

OK, this can be kinda tricky, hold volume up and power till it shuts OFF, keep holding both buttons till it turns back on, then release just the power button, this should get you into the stock recovery, from there "wipe data/factory reset" and "clear cache" then reboot, it should boot up now. The tricky part is telling the difference between the bootloop starting over and the player powering off and back on.
Perfect... It works now. Thank you all for helping me with this. Damn, I'm glad to be born in this era where help is readily available. Thank You very much
