das BAMF GingerStripped/Remix - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone suggest settings or let me know what I'm doing wrong with these ROMS? I was using das BAMF Remix v1.7 and my battery lasted about 2 hours with very little use. I flashed GingerStripped and it's also doing the same. I can take my phone off the charger and it immediately drops from 100% to 95%. I've left my phone off the charger and it will die without even using it at all after about 4 hours. My Thunderbolt would last around 8 hours stock. Help?

You're running the leaked gingerbread leak, that's why. It's a known won't be solved issue most likely until the official release. If you search around (just look in the threads for the roms).
Just a suggestion. I would take more time to read through what you're flashing before you do it, just for the sake of not screwing up your phone and so you're aware of the caveats to what you are about to flash. I know the threads get long, but you can increase your posts per page in your user settings.

No that isn't why, BAMF remix 1.7 isn't the gingerbread leak, take your advice and read a little more.
To the OP:
What kernels are you using?
Are you wiping everything before flashing?
When you look at the battery usage, what is using it mostly?
Does your phone get very hot in those couple of hours the battery lasts?
I'm using BAMF remix 2.1, imo 3.0.1 kernel 245/1592, mr2.5 radio (with extended battery) and getting about 35 hours of use. So something def isn't right with yours.

Granted it was doing it on both 1.7 and 2.x. However he was using both. I've also been up coding for the past 12 hours and I'm only halfway thinking at the moment, sorry.
Just a suggestion for the OP, you might also need to kill your battery stats so it creates new ones (kill them, when it gets to 100%, then let it discharge down to near zero [if possible]). All that flashing might have it out of wack. Here's an app to do it for you:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration

I had a somewhat similar problem with 1.7 remix and froyo stripped. I'm not sure if it was just waiting for 2 days worth of charges or signing out of trillian, but after getting 4-5 hours of 4G usage, I can now get 24hours.

I wiped everything before flashing each ROM. My phone is currently dead so I can't see which kernel but whichever is flashed with the GingerStripped ROM is what I have. The battery usage always shows my display as using the most but that makes no sense when I can leave it off the charger while I sleep and it still drains the battery. My phone gets a little warm when I'm using it for long periods of time but it's never hot or warm when I use it for a short time.
I'm going to try to calibrate the battery and see if that helps
Thanks guys.

[Q] Imoseyon Lean Kernel Thunderbolt Slight Problem

Whats up guys? First post here for a new guy. My Thunderbolt is rooted and I have been trying to find a good kernel that helped my battery life. Started with Das Bamf 1.6.3 remix but the Kernel that came with it was awful on battery life. Without using the phone at all the battery would die after 6 hours. I originally flashed this rom through Rom Manager. I then moved to Liquid Thundersense 1.5 and then flashed a kernel that was ok but not great. Did this through Rom Manager as well. Then I read thatit was best to flash through recovery in Clockwork mod. I did this and went back to Das Bamf. Same problems with the kernel that came with it. I then decided to try Imoseyons lean kernel. First tried the battery saver mode using the terminal emulator in the das bamf toolkit. That did not work at all. Then I tried option #1 for the normal mode. This kernel is INCREDIBLE! The battery barely moves at all and this seems to be the one I want to stay with. One problem.....every once in a while I turn the phone and and see that I used 10-15% of the battery while doing nothing. Every time this happens I see that my 3G icon at the top of my screen is showing data going in and out at all times and won't turn off. The only way to fix this problem is to reboot. Then the kernel is back to being amazing. Has anyone experienced these problems before? If so, is there a fix. With the way that I use the phone I should easily be able to go a full day and still have lots of battery left if I don't run into this problem. I would much rather not go with the fat extended battery. If this has been covered elsewhere I apologize. I tried reading through a bunch of threads but had no luck.
Nobody has anything???? I also noticed today that I had a random reboot. I was leaving a voicemail for my brother and I looked down to see that it was rebooting. The kernel is not extreme in the overclocking or the undervolting. I guess if no one has any ideas I will have to try some other kernels. Its a shame cause the battery life was incredible with this one.
I believe its a great kernel. Reboots could be caused by anything... Almost everyone is getting random Reboots with the tbolts. Your data issue is probably Rom related, I would personally reinstall after manually wipe on everything.
The vary life on this phone is not good, but my personal experience is that its my screen sucking down my batt! It's to much fun to play with.

The network could be the culprit, too. I have problems more often than I'd like in metro Atlanta. I've woken up twice since I've had the TB with the battery completely drained after 7 hours, so my alarm clock doesn't go off obviously. I've already dropped to 1X for a couple minutes this morning, so I'm sure the battery loves that.
That's probably Rom related as well. Something is sucking data when it shouldn't be.
My phone only uses around 1-2 % all night. But will drain quickly when I do some morning browsing.
Check your sync. It might be set wrong or you could have one of 1000 or issues.

Could be, but both times it happened actually before I rooted, which is interesting. I've only had this happen twice in over 2 months, so who knows.
At least I'm not getting random reboots.

If your worried about data using your battery when your not using the phone you should check out Juice Defender. Just set it up to turn off all data when your screen is off.
Heres your fix..
Ditch DBAMF 1.6.3 and go back to 1.6.1 with the lean kernel.. I get amazing battery life with 161 and 2.5.1 kernel.
I'll give that a try. I also didn't seem to have problems with Liquid Thundersense 1.5 so that may be another option.

Bamf Sense 3.0 RC2 BATTERY WOES

I have Bamf Sense 3.0 RC2 with the stock kernal it came with. WORKS GREAT but the battery life on RC1 is HORRIBLE. it drains 24/7 is it the kernal or radio or rom that causing it to suck. It also charges Very slow.

It could be a combination of things, but more than likely, not the ROM itself. Imo came out with his latest GB kernel, which corrects the slow charging issue. You can also try using the speedtweak script to set on 'battsaver' which will underclock and not overclock to save battery.
Of course, there are the standard settings such as screen brightness and sync settings that also affect battery life. 4G is a tremendous battery hog even on the best ROM. Try to stay on Wi-Fi or if not downloading, 3G.
Here is the link to the latest kernel by Imo....download 1) lean test from the GB sense downloads section.

i had the same problem with battery life on this rom. i loved the look and the feel of it but 5 hours wasnt working for me. i did a lot of tweaks with wifi only, 3g only, brightness and auto sync, but still nothing changed. I switched over to gingerth3ory v4.2 last night charged to 100% with a battery calibration and running on 14 hours. with all the roms that i have flashed my phone tends to stay the same as far as setting.
It really seems as if you just have to use whatever runs best on your phone. I've heard nothing but people loving battery life on AOSP alpha ROMs so far and when I load them my battery sucks down like a champ. On the BAMF Stripped V1.8 my battery is pretty damn good. I'd just try out whatever ROM you like and see what has the best results for battery life on YOUR device.
You should try Bamf Sense 3.0 RC3 and run imo's kernel. might squeeze out more batterylife
Getting 40+ hours on BAMF 3 here
How does someone get 40 hours on their phone!? even when my phone is sitting on the couch next to me on idle I'm still only getting 14-16hrs AT MOST. Whats your tricks? extended battery?? I refuse to throw that brick on the back of my phone!

It really isn't that big at all. I felt the same way when it came out and I saw pictures of others with it on. But when you actually get it, its isn't bad at all, and I have grown to like it more because it helps when holding the phone in landscape view so much more. Plus the fact of knowing I can do whatever I want with my phone, all day, and make it through with no problem. This is also being OC'd to 1.6 24/7

Fascinate CM7 standby battery drain

So i have a verizon fascinate and am currently running cm7. (first tried the stable release but niw a nightly). Im eeally liking cm, but since i got it my battery life is garbage. Basically the drain seems to come from either the android os sercice or cell standby. Whenever i leave my phone inactive for a while, when i wake it up the battery has dropped a lot and tge phone is very warm. I have been modding this phone for a while, but im no android programmer. Purely based on the forum searchi. G ive done on the issue, it seemsblike cm7 has an issue with my modem or radio.
Extra info: my 3g/2g signals seem fine (always 0% time without signal). Wifi connectivity seems fine. Im also running glitch's kernal altho the problem has persisted with and without it (i did do a kernel cleaning first). I used the "go from anything to jb vanilla" guide cuz i was having issues switching to mtd at first (sry dont have a link rite now but it was on xda) . I get occassional force closes, but not really a problem. When i did a titanium back up, the very first time i flashed cm7 i Did restore system settings, but i did not do that every time since then. Ive done a fresh flash of the stable mod around 3 times trying different stuff, but this one is niggtly as i said, and each has had this issue.
If looked around a lot, and wgile this seems common, no one has posted a consistent solution or explanation to the problem, so thats what im looking for.

I have had the standby battery drain on every CM7 version and Kernel tried so far including 7.1 stable,7.0 nightlies,JT's Vanilla, and PoolParty. It's even worse if I shut phone down and don't plug in. It will drop 50 to 75% overnight with phone not on?
Has done it with undervolting, overclocking, and voltage control not even installed. This is first time I have seen others having similiar issues.
I think this is a known issue for all MTD roms on the fascinate, if I'm not mistaken.

I lose only 5% to 10% overnight on CM7 never really notice how much on MIUI cause I never ran it long enough. I guess every phone would behave differently for MTD's or maybe you have an app or mulitple ones that refreshes frequently(Fancy Widget comes to mind).
Well that really sucks, because i do enjoy cm7. But this also means if i go back to a touchwiz configuration like stock dl09 i shouldnt have these issues right?
But before that, has anyone who had these issues tried anything (ie kernels or maybe standby mode power conservation setting, etc... ) that have at least noticeably improved your battery life? Right now mines pretty unbearable (im talking 8hrs while on but totally inactive), but if i can get it up a little i might b able to manage.

I am also experiencing poor battery life. I just flashed 7.1.0 yesterday and absolutely love it. Was using com rom for a few months, but a friend said to try out cwm 7. I used to get about 6 - 8 hours of Pandora while at work and today I only got about 4 before my phone shut off. I'm going to try completely killing battery and charge with phone off tonight an see if it's any better tomorrow.
Any other suggestions? I'm not a noob when it comes to custom roms and flashing (I used to flash the **** out of my G1) but there may have been something I over looked when switching to cwm7. I wiped everything a few times before flashing including battery stats and dalvic.
My battery life is actually really good. Running latest nighty, undervolted -75 across the board, stock kernel, and no overclocking.
Just can't figure why I lose 50-75% of battery overnight when phone is shut down and not charging?
I have the same issue with CM7.1, turning phone of at 80% battery at night to find it at 25% at morning
Is there knows solution?

[Q] Save my Thunderbolt from me!

I need some help. I want to make all of the pain go away and send this POS out the window of my vehicle. It has been a cause of so much frustration over the last year.
Most recently, I installed Santods excellent official ICS deodexed debloated ROM. I didn't notice the issue I'm having now before I installed that ROM, but I have since installed another ROM (Jellyblur) and my issue has not disappeared. It started when I was using my camera... i noticed a long delay after I impatiently hit a button while it was thinking. it shutdown. upon restarting, battery went from fully charged to maybe 20%. A couple pictures later and it shutdown again and upon restarting showed maybe 3%. It's not just the camera that causes it... GPS, browsing, calls etc. can all trigger this behavior. After showing a battery level of 3%, I plug it in and it is instantaneously at 65% or 72% etc., but never showing that its in need of a full recharge.
Is there a chance I screwed up something that "tells" the battery it's time to shutdown? Here are some logs from the most recent episode.

Any input would be sincerely & greatly appreciated. I'm mentally exhausted from this device.
Same thing happened to me quite awhile ago,I think it's just a dead battery. After switching batteries the restarts stopped.

Here's why I am still reluctant to believe it's the battery.
1. I was getting a full day of normal use out of it the day before I installed the new ROM.
2. After achieving a total drain of the battery, upon plugging back in , it shows the charge is already at + 50%.
disclaimer: I have no prior experience with owning a smart phone and dealing with batteries, so I have no idea how they are supposed to act. Limited experience flashing ROMS and no real knowledge of common problems that can occur when flashing etc. etc.

2 Things to consider. The rezound battery is all that is available atm and it is rated at 1640mah vs our 1400 mah.
A new battery is usually not more than 20 dollars
If you are having these problems ensure you are following the suggested directions.
Install ICS Radios
4ext Recovery
Wipe all except sd card
install rom
I have returned to GB rom and i stay on the ICS Radios with 0 problems. So no matter what rom you install i would suggest the new ICS radios. I have installed the new radios in 3 other phones besides my own with 0 problems crossing ICS radio with GB ROM.

What effect do you think firmware has on battery life?

Lately my battery usage in battery monitor widget has been going over 1000ma multiple times a day. In fact this has been the case both at the beginning of my Rezound's life on the first firmware, and again now.
At one time in between I used to never see it go over at most 700ma, and experienced reasonable battery life too. Usually I saw about 70ma to 300ma usage. This was with several different roms on the same firmware. I think it was the first or second ICS firmware but I don't remember for sure.
I'm starting to think the firmware a few versions ago was better on battery life. What do you guys think?
I was running GB with the old firmware up until just last week. I was averaging about 20 hours on a full charge with 1-2 hours of screen on time. The rom ran great and the only issue I really had was my 4G would cut out completely whenever I tried to play Youtube videos....
Last week I updated to the latest official ICS global rom with the new radios and firmware, and my battery life has gone in the toilet. I'm averaging about 15 hours on a full charge with the same 1-2 hours of screen on time. My phone gets MUCH hotter when just doing simple things like browsing the web, often getting above 100* F. On GB firmware I was usually in the mid 90's unless I was gaming. This is with the stock kernel. For the past couple days I've been trying FunkyKernel with some under clocking and undervolting which has helped the heat but not so much the battery life.
I'm kinda pissed and strongly considering finally going S-OFF just so I can roll back to the old firmware.
I actually think I had the best battery life on the first ics firmware, but like I said it might have been the second one. I don't remember how many there have been, but I have done all of them.
This latest one just seems to suck down power.
Anybody else have some input?
I just recently updated to the official global firmware and am running Rezone Redux with Funky 3.7. I'm not doing any undervolting and the only change I made to the frequencies was setting the min to 96 and the max to the stock 1512. With my extended battery, I'm averaging around 4.5 hours of screen on time, which is actually about 30 minutes more than I've ever gotten out of this battery. Then again, I keep my data, WiFi, and GPS off at all times unless they're needed, screen brightness at 13%, I'm using an app called Greenify to hibernate certain apps (not freeze, there's a difference), and I'm using the Wheatley governor. I'm very happy with this setup.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
So maybe it isn't affecting your as much because you keep your radios turned off. I also use greenify and it has definitely helped.
I might go a day with my mobile data enabled all day and see what happens. I got into the habit it of toggling my data off about a year ago. The only reasons for me to keep it on would be weather updates and Facebook notifications, neither of which is really important enough to me to have them refresh automatically. I don't use push email or anything like that, either. I suppose it would make a difference for someone who needed instant email notifications and such.
Sent from my ADR6425LVW using xda app-developers app
I also keep data off most of the time unless the phone is plugged in, but still, battery just hasn't been the same since the latest firmware update...
I want to update you guys on my battery issue I thought was related to the new firmware. Every rom I had used since the newest firmware release was horrible on battery life. Using battery monitor widget to monitor power usage, I was often seeing over 1000ma usage many times per day.
I recently installed neo's infection 2.9.1 which uses a stock kernel based off Flahalf's work. My extreme battery drain is gone! The highest usage I have seen in 2 days is around 500ma, and normally it is 100ma or less! Not only that but this Rom is smokin fast. It feels like a new phone!
And it fixed wireless tethering! I'm so happy and thankful for the awesome work or devs have been doing. Thanks guys!
Unfortunately for peeps like me who enjoy gaming on their phone, the JB roms aren't all that great. Graphics performance is generally poor....
Maybe you should give it another try. I just played some shadow gun and the performance was fine.

I want to update you guys on my battery issue I thought was related to the new firmware. Every rom I had used since the newest firmware release was horrible on battery life. Using battery monitor widget to monitor power usage, I was often seeing over 1000ma usage many times per day.

Then you must not have looked very hard, it is here on XDA in the Rezound Original Development forum, along with other amazing ROMs like Tron, Beanstock, Liquid Smooth, PAC-Man, etc.
[ROM][GPL][CDMA/GSM][Jb-4.2.2]☣INFECTION-2.9.1☣[07/20/13][CM-10.1.2][LINARO-4.8] will take you right to the Infection thread!
Well I thank you for the post and help I keep forgetting there are two separate forms for DEV now which i really never understood why they made two.
Thanks
