I installed the Nameless v4 yesterday and v4.1 today.
On the Froyo roms my battery pull on idol was -2 to -10ma [i use battery monitor widget]
Now on the GB i am getting -100 to -275.
Is anyone else experiencing this kind of draw?
[I do understand that the GB is a wip]
I can't speak on the new build, but I was running the 4.0 build and my battery ran down so quickly that I thought I left my gps running with a connection. I also was having quite a lot of issues with the rom, so I thought it was a fluke. I'm on 4.1 and it's been running much better, so hopefully the battery drain isn't as great.
Definitely sounds like you've got a runaway process or wake-lock occurring somewhere. Have a look around the processes and see if something's keeping the CPU running hard. Also run a dumpsys power from adb and see if something's keeping it from sleeping.
Im getting quite the opposite here. It's been almost a day and after moderate use I have a little over 50%. It's amazing because I would be getting half of that on a full charge in froyo.
Looks like it may have been the Widget itself.
But i am not sure, if i closed the running application of Battery Monitor it dropped down to -1 or -2 but then ten mins later its back up to -300.
The other possibility is when i kill the app the widget gets no information and defaults to a low number.
Thank you everyone for your input. I will keep on testing to find my battery killer.
I also may try uninstalling K-9 mail and reverting to the stock Mail client
It being on stock kernel and a lot of debugging features being enabled will do that to your battery.

A lot of people have reported poor battery life with K-9, FWIW, though the K-9 devs say there isn't an issue. I haven't used it myself so I can't really say... you could try this though:
https://market.android.com/details?id=org.r3pek.k9datakiller&feature=also_installed
4.1 drained my battery from 100% to 10% in about 4 hours today. But then I plugged in and rebooted and I had 40%, so I would imagine a battery stats wipe is needed on my phone.
My home button does not work as well, so I am going to re-install again and see if it fixes these issues.
Anyone else had the home button issue?
Edit: The re install fix the home button/lock screen issue. Will report back on the battery tomorrow.
Weird, my battery is AMAZING on Nameless. After 11 hours with using Screeble, with moderate use, I'm at 50%.

I tried Nameless 4.0 and it used less than 20% during the first 6 hours.
Whenever I flash a new rom, it uses more power at first and less and less as you use the phone. Some people insist that you do not have to kill the apps especially on Gingerbread.

Assuming you're talking about task killers, "some people" = Google. With the exception of apps like Watchdog (which just notifies you of apps using excessive CPU, like >50%), task killers hurt more than they help -- they're all effectively scams.
Google's serious techy explanation:

An excellent, understandable article from Lifehacker:

I thought I read somewhere (either the EC09 Leak thread on the Nameless v4 thread) that auto-rotate is causing 50% cpu for this EC09 leak, would that have something to do with battery drain?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1131213&page=15
Thanks
saw the one about auto rotate and turned it off, then i was in the -50 to -100
But that is still bad coming from froyo`s -2 to -10
So i went back to Com Rom and will be awaiting the best Devs on XDA to crack the Leak and make some fantastic ROMS, just like they did with Froyo!
Keep up the good work!

I suggest disabling auto rotate, rebooting, and then never turning auto rotate on again. (even toggling on/off can get the events/0 process stuck at high cpu usage) Once I did this, the full bloated GB leak is spanking Froyo battery life.
This more than makes up for the poor contacts scrolling for this guy.
Also full bloated GB leak appears to be much safer for you SD card than other versions of the leak.

This. My battery life (and signal dBm) has been MUCH better even at work, which is notoriously hard on the battery due to being so well insulated.
I've had ZERO issues with the SD card so far, and it's a huge mystery what exactly is causing that. I ODIN'd the leak an hour after it was posted, then the NamelessV4 rom, then the NamelessV4.1 and haven't had a single issue. There needs to be a better process of defining it, and I'd be willing to bet it has something to do with the recovery the person used when it was flashed.

I was one of the unlucky ones that had a 16GB get ruined. But i know it was my fault. i didnt odin the original leak i went from com rom to nameless and it botched my card. But i am lucky i had my POS BB Storm 2's 16gb. I also went and got a $10 4gb card that i now use when testing out the GB roms [better safe than sorry]
I will try that with the new rom and let you know what i am getting.

That's definitely what I'd be leaning towards. I also took the added (though not really needed) step of using the GB root exploit app, and confirming all was well before ever flashing CWM3.xx in ODIN, then going onto the nameless ROMs. I've actually tried to re-create the problem since I stuck in a spare 4GB card waiting for it to happen, but nothing so far.
Everything is so new, it's really all speculation for the time being. I personally don't think it's the ROM or the leak causing the problem, although it's obviously a factor. There are so many different combinations of recoveries being used (as if all of us read directions in full) and ROMs were flashed in different sequences that it's impossible to nail it down.
Aside from disabling auto rotate, I've had no complaints about the leak or ROM. I ran CM7 forever on my Eris before getting this Fascinate, and while I like it, it's a pain to deal with the missing functionality at times.

So, immediately upon flashing the sd card was corrupted?
It'd be nice if there was more cooperation among everyone to figure out the common problem. It seems like for all the trouble reports, there are as many or more of us with no issues. I can't see anything in logs that would tip off a problem, so it needs to be someone who has the issue.
I'm still leaning towards it being a recovery issue. It's odd that some people are saying the files still appear on the sd when viewed through the CWM interface.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
Man, that would be awful if the CWM we were told to use is what is killing the SD cards, and a diffr version would have worked :O
I used the CWM linked in the nameless thread and no issue so far, but only 2 days so far.

As for myself, I'm running UnNamed from gtg and have been for a bit now. I've removed a few additional pieces of software that I didn't want and modified the battery icon but other than that, it's pretty much as is.
I've tested and have a backup of CM 7 and I'm planning to test Cognition next...
I am running UnNamed, I had a circle battery mod, but flashed the full update and have stuck with it as-is. I ran Cognition with no issues or complaints, but wanted the extended power menu.

I'm running Cognition as of yesterday. For a few days before that I was running a stock + root ROM.
I must say, my battery lasts sooooooo much longer since installing Cognition compared to Stock. I just now hit 90% and it's been off the charger (getting regular use: some idle, some web browsing, some pp installs) for about 6 hours now.
I love it.

I'm on Cognition and haven't tried others, yet. It works and as ROMs have appeared, I've pulled what I wanted from them. I get great battery life (3 hours of display time, but lately it's been increasing - yesterday I got 4 and today I'm on pace for over 5 hours of display ). I'm really interested in CM7. I hadn't tried it yet because I'm not convinced that it's bug free (which is important for me). What did you think of it?
I'm getting such poor battery life still, even after rooting and removing data hogs (AP Mobile, etc.), running BBS and CPUSpy to monitor, and turning off unnecessary sync. I'm thinking about moving to Cognition, but I kinda like Touchwiz's interface and the safety of running stock.

I liked CM7. I probably didn't give it enough time to make an accurate assessment of it as I liked the idea of trying UnNamed simply because I like the stock build as it is... minus the garbage bloatware and wanted the extended power menu. I'd highly recommend giving CM7 a shot though. I simply get each rom running and then do a full nandroid backup in case I want to go back in the future - barring any major improvements of course in which case I'll start out fresh.

I have to say that I was never much of a believer in Juice Defender but between running that program and doing a battery calibration with the app, BatteryCalibration, my battery life has increased quite a bit. I've still got Gmail auto syncing but I have turned off 'Back up my data' in Privacy and keep GPS off until I need it. Everything else is running as is. Oh and no Facebook or Words with Friends. I login to Facebook via Dolphin HD when I have to check it on the go.
Running UnNamed 1.0.3 and really like it. Clean, snappy and excellent battery life (yes, better than stock rom).

+1 for UnNamed.... love that rom!
Ive been on cog beta 4 for a while and it is perfect. Picked up DD exp kernal a few days ago and its still perfect. Perfect combo i guess. Battery life is amazing. After 15 hour days i am always getting 4 hours of screen on time along with playing music thoughout the day and few calls and messages data and sync always on.
I have yet to have any problems and gonna make this my offical "go back to, stable rom" when others start to drive me nuts. I would like to just stay on this rom and call it good cause its perfect but that never happens.

Wow.... That sounds impressive. I may need to give that rom a whir then.
Okay so I'm not 100% sure if this is a sure fix, but it seems to have worked for myself and my wife. We both were getting random reboots like crazy and it was getting very annoying. I remembered back in my windows mobile TP2 days that a lot of stuff gets stored on the SD card after constant flashing and tweaks. So in order to get a proper flash u normally would have to reformat ur SD card, wipe, wipe, wipe, and then flash ur ROM. That is exactly what I did with my phone as well as my wife's phone. I formatted our SD cards after backing everything up of course. I backed it up on an external harddrive, formatted, put everything back, formatted the phone with a super wipe zip I found somewhere in the development forum, installed a custom stock Rom I have been tweaking and then booted up my phone and have not had a single random reboot since. So as the title says, it is a possible fix. If u try it then please post so that other users can know if it is actually stopping the reboots or if It's just a placebo effect. Thanks and I hope I've helped someone who is extremely frustrated as I was with their 500 dollar phone randomly rebooting.

Yeah my battery wasn't loose at all. My phone would also sometimes freeze up and when I rebooted it would just be a black screen. I had to pull the battery to get it working again. I tried the auto brightness fix bit my screen would go black sometimes and rebooting did not fix. I actually had to pull the battery out.

See, the problem with my phone is not random reboots, but hard freezes--with custom kernels..only custom kernels. My actual ROM software is very stable.
Now, if someone can figure out why that happens, I will give them $100.

Truth. I've never had random reboots and the only reboots I've done were solely manual because of these hardlocks from custom kernels.
If only my phone played nicely with kernels...

Since we never had this issue with the 4G you think it could just be a borked kernel source from HTC and we are missing some valuable info in it? Or the dual core aspect of it being ours r diff than others being asynchronous, is very touchy to code and adjustments we woulda made on single cores?
Any other of the MSM8660 handsets experiencing this with their custom kernels or is it just ours? If just ours be worth looking at their stable kernel modes source to see difference n what they might be doing differently??

I'm leaning more towards HTC's screwed up source. As this problem wasn't present in their 2.3.3 source, at least with netarchy's kernel. There weren't nearly as many kernels to choose from but still.
I've heard a few people say the source was either incomplete or messed up somehow. We can only hope that HTC releases an updated software version with a new kernel so that they're obligated to release the source as well, and this time hopefully it will be complete.

I'm having strange issues as well. My phone will sometimes lockup while using it and then it displays the bootanimation and gets stuck on it and I have to battery pull. And it's actually done it once so far while I was sleeping. ROM is stock but I just decided to finally update it to 2.3.4 so I flashed dastin1015's "[ROM][Sense 3.0][2.3.4][Nov. 3, 2011] Stock 2.08.651.3 Deodexed w/ Hotspot and Beats" over it and rolled. Before I flashed, I nandroid'd, Titanium'd, and My Backup Pro'd. I then booted into TWRP and flashed and rolled. I didn't clean reset before or after because I was worried about losing texts and whatnot. That seemed to go well so I flashed chad.goodman's mildAnthraX and also updated my PRI. And keep in mind I haven't touched the clock settings or voltage. Any ideas? I was considering flashing stock kernel and seeing if that fixes it. If not, then I imagine I will have to do what I least want to and clean reset my phone. Will the logcat help identity the problem here?

Ur on the exact setup as I am. Kernel and ROM. Stock kernel still did exactly what u mentioned above as well. After formatting my SD card I have yet to have it happen. It's been about 8 days since I formatted. After reading the posts I don't think formatting my SD card is a fix, but I too am leaning towards HTC kernel being messed up. I think sooner or later my phone is going to do it. My phone was doing exactly as u stated. Booting into the splash screen and not going past it. On some occasions my phone would either freeze up or just go black. The hard buttons would light up but not my screen. Hope this gets figured out soon.

Mine resets between the hours of 71-80 of being on
I'm having the same problem and I do not know how to solve it! I am so close to selling my Evo 3D and going to the SG II.
I have ran CleanRom and currently running Fresh. I have tried Mwalts kernel, Bcblends kernel, and stock kernel from Fresh stock. No matter what I tried, my phone ALWAYS resets between the hours of 71-80 of being on.
The reset happens only when I try to turn on the phone. It turns on, off really quick, then I hit the power button again, the lock screen comes on, then the phone resets. It is getting really annoying as I love having stability and this phone isn't stable at all.
Any ideas? I have exhausted everything I know. I'm running the exact same programs as I have on the Evo 4G and since it is resetting at the same hours always at the same time on different ROMS/Kernels, I'm pretty sure its not app issue. I also tried changing between the 3 radios and no change there. The only other option now is to do a fresh install of Fresh and use it stock and see what happens.

Try setting min cpu freq to something other than 192000, I use 384000 sleep and 482000 wake. I used to have a reboots and freezes but saw that advice somewhere and gave it a shot. Presto no more issues. Battery life is no worse for wear either. Not saying this will work but worth a try.

Huge Thanks
thank you so much for sharing your information my evo 3d was rebooting about every 30 min and i have just been dealing with it because i had took my evo4g into the sprint store because it was rebooting aboutevery 5-10min so they looked at it and couldnt figure it out so the gave me the evo3d for free and i put the sdcard that was in my evo 4g into my evo3d without having any idea that it was the sdcard causing all of my problems so the same thing started to happen to my new evo 3d started off about every day and eventually started to reboot every 30min and i just decided that all htc devices were like this so i have been dealing with it but today i said enough is enough and looked online and saw this thread and wiped my sdcard and sure enough no reboots yet its been about 3 hours so i think its fixed
i cant thank you enough i think it got corrupt from all of the flashing i was doing
son of a ***** right as i was about to hit post the mother ****er rebooted so its not my sdcard after all should i take it in to sprint what do you think ahhh i should have never posted anything it was going so well FML!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ps hboot 1.4 is the **** no more going to the computer to flash a rom stupid hboot 1.5
I've sometimes had trouble running custom kernels (reboots and strange behaviors) that were fixed when running the stock kernel. But, the stock kernel leaves a lot to be desired in overall performance, so I continue to kernel hop. But, from my lurking on the different ROM forums, it seems that stock is the way to go for stability at the sacrifice of performance.
I had problems with evo rebooting and that in a loop. Very annoying. For that i've changed several roms just to find out that it could probably be because of widgetsoid.
At first the rebooting after some time of use, 1-2 days. And if flashing a different kernel than the one with rom. I was going mad, the last reboot or series of constant reboot after the evo has turned itself on, has occured after i set the brightness to lowest value, it was late so i wanted a darker screen. Interesting it when i set lowest value in system or via leedroid tweaks in widgetsoid widget popup - value im at 12 %. Maybe i got the restarts because i went below 12? Since my brightness im above 12 in widgetsoid and minimal in system, my evo didn't reboot a single time.
Currently i'm at shawn3d rom. Later i'll try some other kernel and rom again and see if the reboots occured.
U get random reboots while using any brightness widget with custom roms. I've narrowed my 3d threshold for the reboots to be anything less than 5%.
No reboots if kept at or above 5% for me...

i have had success after formatting system/data/cache to ext4 in the ext4 recovery, i had random reboots and lockups while using twrp and not formatting to ext4, (in all honesty i doubt the twrp was too blame)
I'm posting this here because I hope some devs might be able to get a handle on the problem. I think it has something to do with the launcher.
Since I upgraded my phone to a 2.3.4 ROM, I've had constant problems with its randomly rebooting, or occasionally just freezing. (I say "rebooting", but it always gets stuck in a boot loop, and so it might as well be frozen.) The first ROM was Synergy, but I've had the same trouble on Warm, and with three or four different kernels (OC'ed and not OC'ed) on each of those ROM's. In some configurations it's better, and in some it's worse, but I've nearly always had the reboots happen at least once a day. Sometimes it happens while charging, sometimes while it's not; sometimes it happens while I'm touching it, and sometimes when I haven't touched it in hours (kind of annoying when it's my alarm clock--I missed a meeting last week). There's not a lot of consistency in when it happens, though I should say, for the record, that I've been using Launcher Pro the whole time.
Obviously, I'm not the only one with this problem: for some, like me, it started with 2.3.4 (including, in many cases, the stock OTA); for others, it started when the phone was first released; while for others, it's never happened at all. The fact that some people haven't experienced it at all may mean hardware has something to do with it, and I even read one account of a guy who took five different phones back to Sprint for replacements before finding one that worked right.
After searching high and low, I found a thread on the Sprint Community forums that suggested editing the data.prop file to keep the launcher in memory constantly (Look here and scroll down to post #9.). I tried this a couple of days ago, and it hasn't fixed the problem, but it did dramatically reduce it: I went from rebooting every two hours to rebooting once or twice a day.
I've noticed one other interesting thing: a couple of months ago, I started playing Godville, and I've been propping the phone up next to me and letting it idle with the screen on (while on USB), so that I can glance over every once in a while to see if anything is happening in the game. I've noticed that, every few minutes, the home screen wallpaper briefly replaces the app I have open; it happens so fast that I can't tell for sure if the whole launcher is coming up, but I suspect it is. I wonder if this constant yanking of the launcher into the foreground might be the source of the instability.
my mind is like..... blowwwwn

no but on a serious note man... many people have had problems with reboots since the launch of the 3D, which was 2.3.3 based. I doubt that was the issue (launcher, your update, your games... gnomes...)
i would say flash the RPM PGIMG86423million update whatever that number is for the bootloader update.zip, and see if that rids you from the reboots.
for me, i fixed my reboots by getting a new SD card... i had the same issue when i first got my 3D late in july. Did it both on 2.3.3 base, and 2.3.4... it occurred to me one day that a bad disk would cause system reboots... and not being able to change out the one built into the phone... i opted for the SD card because it was cheap and i wanted a better one anyways. reboots went away immediately.
it also never occurred to me initially that my SD had been bad for a long time... not just when i had my 3D.. on my previous phone (samsung moment with froyo), whenever i would move apps to the SD card, i would always get some kind of error message. trying to move them a couple times would always successfully move the app(s) to the SD card.. i figured this was a problem with the rom i was on (speaking of my samsung moment)...
then when i transferred my card to my 3D, same problem, along with the reboots, and a light clicked on in my brain and said "***k-tard, your SD card is bad. derp."
haven't had a single reboot since then. i even wonder if the paramount number of people having reboot issues on the 3D was due to HTC possibly shipping them with defective SD cards...
just something to mix around in your brain for a bit...
Yeah, I considered the SD card as a problem, but the reboots happen even when the SD card is mounted as a USB drive. Also, a bad SD card wouldn't explain why keeping the launcher in memory dramatically reduces the problem.
I'll be giving it a try.
Just a side note. I've been using the stock kernel lately and havn't had a single reeboot. I'm on synergy rom and since he put back in the stock kernel w/ no OC I've had no issues.
I may try that, but it would be sad to not to able to OC a rooted phone. I'm starting to wonder if it's a bad internal flash drive, though.
You should try a stock ROM to see if that solves your issue if that's doesn't work maybe you have defective phone

All my problems went away when I used Senseless ROM. I think the kernel in the ROM is stock. It's been over two weeks since my phone has frozen on me and no more random reboots.
Only stable kernels are tiamat and stock. All the others cause bootloops thanks to tryin to remove ciq

I'm having the same reboot issues. I've noticed a few things:
1. Doesn't matter what sd card or how new, my phone reboots unexpectedly
2. Phone ONLY reboots RIGHT when the screen times out. Only on Android 2.3.4 w/ sense! It does not matter what kernel. Whatever I do, all reboots are directly related to sense on 2.3.4.
3. The only solution I have found is to deactivate the screen time out or gut HTC proprietary sense from the ROM.
P.s. I DO NOT have problemswith any ota based off 2.3.3

Nor for me. It causes daily hard lockups that require a battery pull on my phone. Tiamat exhibited this on multiple ROMs for me.
I think trying a largely stock rom is a must as a start to tracing your problem. So is incremental additions of apps, tweaks, etc. Basic debugging and defect isolation stuff.

What about bcblend by mwalt? Senseless rom has been using that for quite some time and I haven't had any issues. When it was switched to tiamat for a short time (2.5 & 2.6, i believe) I had problems with lockups and reboots. Reboots would occur when the screen timed out every once in a while.
Just curious OP - have you tried the phone on a newly installed rom without installing any side apps for a day or so and seeing if you have any problems? Back on my old nexus S 4g i had issues with a particular battery app that would give similar problems to what you are experiencing.
Tiamat has not been stable for me either. I tried many different rom and kernel combos and am still having the issue. I noticed it is mostly happeneing when the phone is plugged in. but it also happens sometimes when im on a call. So there has to be more than one issue one being the proximity sensor and i cant figure out the other ive hset charging profiles to 384max and 198 min and other low clock speeds to see if it would help. Also set a temp profile to underclock when its over 38.0 celsius. Right now im running olympus trinity xe titan i ran it for a few days with mild anthrax and it only froze/rebooted a few times a day. I tried the anthrax kernel and it rebooted twice the first half hour so i flashed tiamat last night. Im trying to give it time to settle in but it just rebooted again when i plugged into pc. I bought my phone used and rooted before i even activated it so i dont know if this is something kernel/rom related. I started another thread a few days ago about this and the few responses i got were people running stock romand kernel not rooted. So i guess all we can hope for is the devs to figure it out or sprint to give us an ota that fixes it since im starting to belive its a hardware issue.
If you're on titan freezas is recommended.

I saw a few people talking about that but I thought they were talking about for when he released Hades. I'm gonna find the dl link now thanks.

Not for that long a period, no--unfortunately, I haven't been in a position where I could give up most of the use of my phone for that long. Once I have grades submitted next Monday, I can probably do more methodical testing.
I'm still freaked out by the way the launcher pops up every few minutes, though--has anyone else ever seen anything like that?

One of my favorite rom and kernel combo's is infected eternity with anthrax but random reboots are common for me with any sense based rom. I run MIUI with whatever aosp kernel and everything is flawless. Other than experimenting with kernels to find battery life, MIUI is the most stable rom I have used so far and is my new daily driver!

My evo also reboots and i havent rooted my phone at all. I did get a new SD card and that reduced the amounts of reboots i get! . Although, i still get a few every week.
hope sprint/person finds a fix for this soon.

Anyone who updated your SGH-I777 to ICS facing heating issues while downloading stuff from market or using internet over WIFI/DATA?
My phone has horrible heating issues after the upgrade from 2.3.6 to 4.0.3. Its terrible. My phone on GB was smooth like butter and never faced any kind of heating or lagging issues. but this ICS upgrade is just one ****.....
Please help me by sharing your experience while on WIFI or DATA connection.....
Mine has been doing that for a few months now. Since I started using AOKP. Anytime I use my phone for a few minutes it starts to get warm, getting hotter the longer I use it. I was worried at first, but got used to it. Like the camera whirring noise, I just ignore it mostly.
I am planning on getting a warranty replacement anyway sometime before the warranty runs out, so I haven't worried about it.
It could be a rouge app running all the time. Better Battery Stats will let you see if any apps are preventing your phone from sleeping. CPU spy will also let you see if your phone is sleeping. A rogue app generally causes battery drain too. I see the same battery life on ICS as GB for the most part.

I don't think it has anything to do with the app running...... Its a very fresh installation and after the boot, I have tested downloading the say 5 apps from Playstore. The top portion of the device heats up big time. I am an android engineer and have rooted and applied custom roms on the devices but I am not willing to do that on this device becoz the Stock GB on SGH-I777 (2.3.6) is the best i have come across in terms of stability and efficiency. So just badly wanna go back to stock 2.3.6 but online I saw ppl facing problem when they downgraded to stock 2.3.4.....
I am still repenting on upgrading the device...uffff damn it
The only time I noticed anything like that was when I put my phone in the
mobile dock and using the GPS and it was a hot day plus it was charging.
Once I plugged into the regular house charger it cooled down
(even though it was still charging).
I guess they have overlocked the device and thats the reason y its heating up
I don't over clock my phone. I run AOKP with Fluxxi kernel, and don't touch the CPU speed, voltage, or governor settings. My phone didn't get hot like this on SHOstock, but pretty consistently on AOKP it heats up when ever I use it. I posted in another thread about heat issues that at the end of the day I had 13 hours up time, and less than 3% was at 800 MHz or above. The most common was deep sleep, 200, and 500.
I don't worry about the heat anymore, I got used to it. Most of the time its just warm, but if I get downloading a big file it gets really hot. It doesn't seem to affect the performance or battery life, so I don't worry.

AOKP and CM9 with Fluxi Kernel very heat when I played Nova 3.
Ever since the first ics leak came out its been on my phone and have had nothing but heat issues some to the point i worpped my sim card and back cover. Yes warrenty replaced it (the phone) not the back cover. So it is just something to deal with till jellybean is released. Hopefully they will have fixed it.

Or stay on GB lol. I really didnt like how buggy ATT ICS seems to be with some apps like WordPress
I would love to go back to GB but scared use the ROMS that are available online.. I have done lot unlocking and rooting stuff on devices but i failed one time and thats what is holding from rooting/unlocking the device. Also I have realized that the custom ROMs are always buggy.....
Some people have had heating issues on ICS, and others not. Don't really know what the difference is. I suppose there could be some differences in the hardware.
Anyway, going back to gingerbread is relatively safe. You can go back to fully stock, or you can go back to stock plus root. Each of these options would be by flashing the firmware with Odin from a windows pc. Neither of these packages contain bootloaders, so the risk is minimal, almost non-existant. The packages are UCKH7, Gingerbread 2.3.4, although there is a UCKK6 plus root available also. You can use the guides linked in my signature, the one for returning your phone to the store for straight stock, and the one for flashing firmware without incrementing the flash counter for stock plus root.
Custom roms vary in stability. Some are extremely stable. I would say that SHOstock2 is as stable as about any rom I have ever used. It's certainly good enough for every day use. It is ICS though, and don't know how your phone would do with it. I have seen a few reports of overheating with it, although my phone rarely gets even warm to the touch.
Just wanted to echo 1) my phone also gets hot when being used heavily (wifi, bt, gps, data, sync, all on) but not to the point of concern. And 2) the reco of shostock2 3.1.0+ for stability.

One of the most stable, smooth GB roms is UnNamed 2.2.1, which you can check out HERE. I used it for a good while, but wanted to try ICS. Excellent, stable rom, with themes available.

I did try your odin but unfortunately it didn't recognize my device at all. So I juts gave up on using your odin. I am not sure why odin is not detecting my phone. I am using SGH-I777 AT&T with ICS 4.0.3. Any idea whats the problem. Please note that I have not rooted this device and its always been on stock firmware/software.....
i m on AOKP rom with my i777, it does heat up a little bit (lcd top part and back near camera) when i m using 3g, wifi is ok..i wonder if the antenna is around there so its causing heat?

You got it right. Thats exactly where I feel the heat on my device..... Trust me, I didn't feel any heating effect whatsoever when my device was on GB. So I m pretty sure that the hardware is all good and its the firmware/software thats screwing up the device.
Personally I found my phone got hot after setting up an exchange account on it. I also got massively reduced battery performance. Once I removed the exchange account operation returned to normal.
One or more of the apps (from the old GB install) that is running in the background causing it to heat up, I was ruuning into that issue when I first updated to ICS. I end up doing the factory wipe and reload every apps back on. Now I don't have that problem.
I need some help. I want to make all of the pain go away and send this POS out the window of my vehicle. It has been a cause of so much frustration over the last year.
Most recently, I installed Santods excellent official ICS deodexed debloated ROM. I didn't notice the issue I'm having now before I installed that ROM, but I have since installed another ROM (Jellyblur) and my issue has not disappeared. It started when I was using my camera... i noticed a long delay after I impatiently hit a button while it was thinking. it shutdown. upon restarting, battery went from fully charged to maybe 20%. A couple pictures later and it shutdown again and upon restarting showed maybe 3%. It's not just the camera that causes it... GPS, browsing, calls etc. can all trigger this behavior. After showing a battery level of 3%, I plug it in and it is instantaneously at 65% or 72% etc., but never showing that its in need of a full recharge.
Is there a chance I screwed up something that "tells" the battery it's time to shutdown? Here are some logs from the most recent episode.

Any input would be sincerely & greatly appreciated. I'm mentally exhausted from this device.
Same thing happened to me quite awhile ago,I think it's just a dead battery. After switching batteries the restarts stopped.

Here's why I am still reluctant to believe it's the battery.
1. I was getting a full day of normal use out of it the day before I installed the new ROM.
2. After achieving a total drain of the battery, upon plugging back in , it shows the charge is already at + 50%.
disclaimer: I have no prior experience with owning a smart phone and dealing with batteries, so I have no idea how they are supposed to act. Limited experience flashing ROMS and no real knowledge of common problems that can occur when flashing etc. etc.

2 Things to consider. The rezound battery is all that is available atm and it is rated at 1640mah vs our 1400 mah.
A new battery is usually not more than 20 dollars
If you are having these problems ensure you are following the suggested directions.
Install ICS Radios
4ext Recovery
Wipe all except sd card
install rom
I have returned to GB rom and i stay on the ICS Radios with 0 problems. So no matter what rom you install i would suggest the new ICS radios. I have installed the new radios in 3 other phones besides my own with 0 problems crossing ICS radio with GB ROM.

I will mail you a thunderbolt battery I have left over when I owned one. So you pm me your address and I will mail it free of charge. That's how sure I know its your battery. What you have to lose? If its not the battery then you got an extra battery.
