As for myself, I'm running UnNamed from gtg and have been for a bit now. I've removed a few additional pieces of software that I didn't want and modified the battery icon but other than that, it's pretty much as is.
I've tested and have a backup of CM 7 and I'm planning to test Cognition next...
I am running UnNamed, I had a circle battery mod, but flashed the full update and have stuck with it as-is. I ran Cognition with no issues or complaints, but wanted the extended power menu.

I'm running Cognition as of yesterday. For a few days before that I was running a stock + root ROM.
I must say, my battery lasts sooooooo much longer since installing Cognition compared to Stock. I just now hit 90% and it's been off the charger (getting regular use: some idle, some web browsing, some pp installs) for about 6 hours now.
I love it.

I'm on Cognition and haven't tried others, yet. It works and as ROMs have appeared, I've pulled what I wanted from them. I get great battery life (3 hours of display time, but lately it's been increasing - yesterday I got 4 and today I'm on pace for over 5 hours of display ). I'm really interested in CM7. I hadn't tried it yet because I'm not convinced that it's bug free (which is important for me). What did you think of it?
I'm getting such poor battery life still, even after rooting and removing data hogs (AP Mobile, etc.), running BBS and CPUSpy to monitor, and turning off unnecessary sync. I'm thinking about moving to Cognition, but I kinda like Touchwiz's interface and the safety of running stock.

I liked CM7. I probably didn't give it enough time to make an accurate assessment of it as I liked the idea of trying UnNamed simply because I like the stock build as it is... minus the garbage bloatware and wanted the extended power menu. I'd highly recommend giving CM7 a shot though. I simply get each rom running and then do a full nandroid backup in case I want to go back in the future - barring any major improvements of course in which case I'll start out fresh.

I have to say that I was never much of a believer in Juice Defender but between running that program and doing a battery calibration with the app, BatteryCalibration, my battery life has increased quite a bit. I've still got Gmail auto syncing but I have turned off 'Back up my data' in Privacy and keep GPS off until I need it. Everything else is running as is. Oh and no Facebook or Words with Friends. I login to Facebook via Dolphin HD when I have to check it on the go.
Running UnNamed 1.0.3 and really like it. Clean, snappy and excellent battery life (yes, better than stock rom).

+1 for UnNamed.... love that rom!
Ive been on cog beta 4 for a while and it is perfect. Picked up DD exp kernal a few days ago and its still perfect. Perfect combo i guess. Battery life is amazing. After 15 hour days i am always getting 4 hours of screen on time along with playing music thoughout the day and few calls and messages data and sync always on.
I have yet to have any problems and gonna make this my offical "go back to, stable rom" when others start to drive me nuts. I would like to just stay on this rom and call it good cause its perfect but that never happens.

UnNamed 1.0.3 for the past two days. Had no issues and I like the added features. This is the only custom ROM I tried so far.

Ok guys, Lately i haven't cared about battery because its summer and im home all the time so if battery's low, i charge... but now its different.
School starts in a few weeks over here in Texas. More importantly, my Football camp starts TOMORROW. I won't need a 48 hour lasting battery, but i do want one that will last me no problem to maximum 16 hours, i dont need anything more.
I currently have CM7 glitch kernel kb5.
My phone is usually on standby. If CM7 had a great standby battery i'd stick, but it doesn't...
The most i use my phone is..
A couple calls, no more than 5 a day, 100 texts maybe more a day, and games but you guys dont have to count the games, I play games at home, I don't play games while algebra is going
So just a good ROM, with amazing battery life specifically on standby.
Obviously most of the choices i have will be Froyo based roms, but I guess thats okay for now, im not looking for anything "spontaneous" just a good rom, battery life, i dont want some funky theme on it either. just a simple one.
got any suggestions? Name away
Also if you're using or have experienced the rom your suggesting, try to give me more info on what kernel you used if it was different than stock, what modem etc.
Install bionix. 1.3.1 i believe it has views over 900k and then flash Bali 1.8.8uv kernel....I saw a pic of a battery status...he went 63 hours w/o charging...assuming that wasn't photoshoped...

Also don't trust pictures like those, unreliable.
Without using my phone besides checking battery every 3hours I'm sure I can last 48hours too

I suggest Project V. It runs smooth and snappy. I've never had any issues (at least nothing I haven't caused myself), have gotten great battery life and since installing Bali my battery life has been f***ing awesome.
I think you have at least a partial answer to your question: three different posters recommending three different roms but we all agree that you should be using the Bali kernel.
It's all in my signature. I've used all of the ROMs listed so far, and Toxic's has been my favorite by far. Love the near endless stream of themes that come from the group besides all the great tweaks.
I've easily gotten 48hrs with light use, or 5hrs of nonstop gaming.
I was just about to ask this. Im on Revolution rom and ill get about 6-7 hours with moderate usage. Not the best but ehh its entertaining. But back on track i too would like to know what rom has good battery life

Just run any 2.2 rom with overstock. Have a sleep profile of 400/100 and use superpower (free) from the market and have it not turn on the mobile network for 2 hours and let it run for 1 min. Use startup manager to kill all the unnecessary apps that want to run and be done with it. It requires some work on your part but well worth it. Do note you can really cause problems for yourself by doing what I suggest by one mistep, you might not have any cellular signal at all. But I can tell you the battery savings are great. I work at a factory 12 hours a day and I leave there with 50%. This is also in an area that just barely gets edge. Every ones phones are constantly trying to grab a signal and dying.... but mine I'm working on the new Simply honey JVR right now and after a few days once it gets settled ill post a little picture in the battery thread.
I'm going to suggest bi-winning V3. I'm running it with the kernel that came with and get great battery life. I turned my phone at 10 am with 100% battery at 10 pm with several phone calls, some texts, checked the market for updates I was at 80%. I've read that some people have used Bali kernel undervolted and are getting even better. But honestly dude, bi winning runs so good and is so smooth that I just can't bring myself to change anything about it.
Bi-winning V3
if you don't care about the thickness/weight of your vibrant, could get a bigger battery..

Thanks guys really helped me

Excellent choice my good man!! You shall not be disappointed!!
I'm currently on CM7 Trigger Redux and I can tell you that battery life only lasts around 15 hrs depending on usage. I usually just check my email, check the time every now and then, put in a few texts, and some randoms. I can tell you that Bionix 1.3.1 was a lot better but you couldn't really do much with the Bionix. On average, I would get 18+ hours. I have been told that any GB or Froyo bootloader ROMs would usually always have better battery life than CM7 just because of the system files CM7 uses.
So you dont have to stop using ur phone like its meant to be, buy a couple of cheap $4 batteries and a cheap $3.50. battery charger from ebay like that u have a fresh battery when ur about to go dead. That's what I do cuz I got tired of killing this, freeze that, install this, uninstall that, lower this. ....u get my point. I use my phone like its meant to be. I listen to music all day at work with my bluetooth earbuds and on my breaks I play a game, browse the web, watch something on netflix, etc. without having to worry about battery life cuz I'll just pop in a fresh charged one when needed. I keep a battery at work, home, and car. No matter what ROM ur using with whatever kernel or tweak applied ur still gonna kill ur battery fast watching a video or playing a HD game. If I have to limit myself doing those things than whats the point of having a phone that could do all that if ur gonna be worrying about battery life all the time. Don't get those extended ones that will make your phone fatter in your pocket and hard to get a case for, just to add about 50%-70% more life for about $20-$30 when you could get 3 regular $4 batteries that will hold as much charge as ur OEM battery. No matter what brand name they have, they all come from the same place (i.e. China) anyways so who cares if that's where they come from. They worked fine for me.
Get the extra batteries. Trust me.

I can confirm that Bi-Winning 3.0 does an incredible job in battery life. Bionix also does a good job but I feel the battery lasts longer with Bi-Winning. I'm probably going to be testing Toxic battery life soon just because theres more things to customize.
Hi!
I tried to search for the solution, but didn't find one.
I've installed MIUI-NB ROM recently (unfortunately, I cannot post there, because I don't have 10 posts to post in developers' forums; if somebody can append the question to that topic, I'd appreciate).
Generally, I like this ROM very much, but today I have experienced HUGE lags when accessing the Internet via mobile data (especially noticeable on 3G). Load average jumps to 8 and more, lags are so noticeable that render the phone unusable. Did someone experience that?
Reboots do not help. Switching to WiFi cures the lags immediately, thought the load remains pretty high (about 2.5).
Did someone else experienced that and can give a bit of advice, please?
I did, I couldn't figure it out. I believe it has to do with either kernal or modem. Try miui LE 9.1 which is what I have with the kb5 modem and its super fast. I've haven't experienced any lag yet.
Sent from my T959 using xda premium
Its more likely do to the fact that he adds to much bloat and useless apps....hogging up all the ram.
I also use lithium with kb5 modem....can't beat it
Hey, i was a NB supporter, and loyal too, but it started to crash on me lately so today i went to Miui PRIME and so far.. its AMAZING no lag what so ever.
I heard Lithium was good too but i asked one guy and he said he got 8 hrs from light usage... so i was like ehhhhhhhhhhhhh
I was also on NB but it was too laggy ...so had to move on to lithium 9.1 ...which is working great
I had to go back to cm7, I started to get reboots during calls and had to take the battery out to shut it off. If i put the battery in it would fire up on its own. That was a first.
Ok here's an update I'm on LE 9 and I'm at 72% battery at 7 hours. Ill give you guys a total of hours when down to 2%.
This is with light to moderate usage, YouTube, FB, xda, web, texts and calls

How's the battery life on MIUI Prime? My phone, too, has been crashing after a day's use. I would have to restart it every 1-2 days in order for it to become responsive again. It gets annoying and I'm already contemplating on going back to 2.2 again. lol
Agreed I've been thinking the same thing.

I was on bionix, and it was starting to drag and GPS wouldn't lock. so I wanted to try a newer ROM, just flashed MIUI-NB, but the low battery life worries me.
OK look at it this way....you know how your computer starts out really fast and all...then after awhile ....after so many downloads and websites visited it starts to slow down and then starts freezin up and all that....well that's what's happening to your phone, after all...it is a computer.
What I do is completely wipe everything including formatting system and SD and external SD...reflash your favorite rom and WHAM! Fast as hell again.
Thing to remember is all the BS you install and uninstall, isn't completely gone....its there and its hogging up your ram.
Just a hint guys... this rom your talking about is slap full of bloat alot of it is needed just to get fair results becuz of all the crap that's been done to it .
I'm back to 2.2 after almost 8 months of playing with miui and gingerbread, and I've realized something....the grass isn't greener on the other side.....especially when the proper files have not been released.
I do not mean to offend anyone...I am just posting my opinion off what I see after many many flashings.
I love miui with all the customizing that is made available with it but its just not what it could or should be and probably never will be and you can thank Samsung and T-Mobile for that.....unfortunately the vibrant is fading out as with the smartphone before it and the one before that.
One thing is for sure though.....the vibrant was the beginning of a Great Era. and that is a fact

I've tried every rom available here ...for the I717 ..
And "For Me"..
The best battery life comes from the following builds ..
Saurom ..GB 2.3.6 .....and ..
Flappjaxxx UCLF6 ICS Build #5.
But please remember, that I prefer zeam launcher, and use only a handful of apps and never Widgets.
You simply have to try the builds for yourself, and determine the best balance between performance and features.
But more importantly, the 717 runs best without overclock..IMHO ...and basically using a stock kernel.
Optimization of the build for the device is very important in maintaining a smooth and functional file structure....
That being said, I stick with slightly modified stock builds for the note, and I always disable the stock Touchwiz launcher, as I can confirm it's a battery hog.
But invariably, I feel that Samsung did an excellent job when optimizing GB, while ICS is larger and not as refined...and JB official will correct the ICS bugs.
We can only hope that Samsung releases the JB we see on the note 2....as it truly is an exceptional build.
Good luck in your flashing and optimization of the builds you choose ...g
BlackStar X did the trick for me. I also turned sync off and manually sync my email account. Turning data off also helps otherwise when screen is off battery keeps draining.
I'm also looking for a battery saving ROM. This is insane. Data is rarely on and it's almost always on WiFi. I'm a average to low user. Don't play any games, make a handful of calls a day, text more often. Screen is on for maybe a few minutes at a time.
Currently on Blackstar XI DXLJ2 and it's absolutely horrible. Gonna try Blackstar X and see if it's any better.

All roms are exactly the same on battery life... That is until you've tested it on your device.

Its how you use you phone and what you use on your phone that determines the battery life. From a development standpoint, there are minor changes that we can implement to improve battery duration. The difference will be negligible. You might notice an in increase in your battery, but again it won't be much.
ThE UnknowN
Yeah, differences aren't too large. For example, your screen on time will always be in the 4 hour range if you have a medium-ish brightness.
With that said, sometimes a ROM can have a bug and your standby time suffers. I've also noticed the battery curve is sometimes different so it would appear the battery level drops faster but then it slows down and the total time ( from 100 to 0) ends up being the same.

Holy crap. I'm lucky if I get 2 hours screen on, but thats with auto brightness. maybe I need to set it to medium brightness.
But I too have noticed some large battery differences on ROMS with the same base/kernel. I don't understand it, because as stated, the rom doesn't affect battery much.
I've since found a ROM, that with using it the same exact way, battery life is substantially better. That comment wasn't to offend a developer or get into a debate. Obviously a major part is how you use the phone, I know this.

Here's a little story for ya.
I started out using Ginger stock, the interface felt sluggish coming from an iphone4 (wow I haven't typed "iphone" in such a long time, I feel weird!)
After mucho research, I went for the Eclipse rom. Ultra smooth, gotta love it. Like every other rom (so I've heard), I still get random reboot, but very few, about once a week and sometimes don't get it at all. Battery life is crazily good, loses about 4% overnight with "interactive governor". Music player always stop responding on first open. But I can live with that, just kill app and reopen and it's good to go. Overall, using the Eclipse rom has been a very nice experience.
Then I tried Novena (ICS rom I believe), the interface wasn't as smooth as JB, the battery also drains fast for some reason (yes I have turned off every option that could potentially drain the battery), so I moved on...
Then I tried JellyBeer, smooth just like Eclipse but with more options. However, the battery also drains pretty fast, why? I really don't know, played around for hours but still couldn't figure it out.
At last, I came back to Eclipse, everything is almost just how I want the phone to be.
In retrospect, I hit the jackpot on the first try. But it is certtainly worth the attempt to flash a variety of roms, eventually you will find the one that delivers.
You do know it takes a couple charge cycles for the rom and battery to "settle in" with each other right?
You can't judge Battery life by the few hours you have a rom flashed.. which I bet you were playing with the phone the whole time as well setting everything up the way you like seeing what other options are available all that jazz, making it seem like the rom was killing your battery even more.
Pitting these FREE roms against each other when it really comes down to end user, is unfair to the developers who do this unpaid in their free time.

Most people get really good battery life on SHOstock3. Just search the SHOstock3 thread for the word battery to see what I mean. If you're not getting good battery life, you need to find out what in your configuration is causing the problem, and fix it. There is a thread in the general section started by Entropy512 that you should study to help you identify where the problem is.
I was on GB ShoStock for a long time thinking ICS and JB would never leave me satisfied on battery life.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1353513
Finally came to my senses and tried out ShoStock 3 and have never looked back. To make it short the best Rom Ive ever flashed for any device I have had in the present and past.
You definitely have a rogue app killing your battery, find out which one it is and uninstall.

Sorry you have battery life problems.
I have been running Shostock3 since it came out (it's version 3.02 today!), but I also been on and off at least five (wow can it be that many?) JB roms on my SGH-i777 (won't even mention the # GB roms here!). After trying many, I must agree with the other posters who state that this rom delivers very good battery life when compared to stock and when compared with other custom roms.
Lately, it has delivered the best battery life I have ever had on this phone using any rom (although SlimBean JB provided very very good battery life for me recently as well! Also UnNamed was great for battery life in the old GB days )
I followed the recommendations made by creepyncrawly to read Entropy's (& others) battery notes/faqs. They provide some really good background, some with that typical "XDA flavor" (read technical!. That material, plus some more plain old simple user adjustments to how and what I use on the phone have improved my phone's battery time; and it might help you as well.
It really boils down to the fact that each phone user loads different apps and our usage patterns vary.
Assume that you've flashed it and let it settle for a few days and several recharge cycles. After doing this you can see what YOUR "norms" are. They may be good or bad, but that's the baseline for you with this rom and with the apps and usage pattern you have.
(You can tweak voltage and speed (well, not speed on SS3!), but my experience has been that the more noticeable changes will be by adjusting your pattern of use, or doing the "hunt for the app" (or apps) that are burning down your run times when not in use.
Not many here seem to like or do this, but I would also try one of those "help-you-with-battery-use" apps --like juice defender (Ok, I get that many here seem to think it a waste, but it really did help me --a little-- when I used it); or get DS Battery saver (a bit more aggressive and noticeable, but you also notice the lag while you wait for things to turn on when you want them).
Actually, these may not be precision solutions, and don't focus on your specific phone app use, but they do work in a macro way to slow battery use and simply working with them for a few days or weeks will provide you with a better a sense of what the heck is going on under the plastic; they will cause you to look at what you have/run and when.
Oh, this includes using Better Battery Stats, which is fine for reporting out exactly which the apps behave --or don't-- and by how much and when. I'm not slow (well, that slow but it frankly, it took me quite a while to figure out what I was reading in the BBS readouts and what they meant! (Now, after a year+ or so of using it, I don't even have it loaded, since I've done the fiddling I need --and BBS, plus those other battery apps, helped me to figure out what apps worked well, what apps I was willing to sacrifice battery on and what apps were useless and should be tossed.)
Finally, some roms just don't work for people! So it's not worth the frustration chasing something you may not be able to achieve with this or another rom. (You probably read how individuals have problems that you don't -yet, you run the same rom and the same phone! That is our world. So, too, you will read about some who make amazing claims on how long they continue on one charge. Some are pretty amazing, and some may even be real
My final five cents would be:
#1 run the rom a couple of days, get a baseline. Then switch from Jeboo kernel to AJK's latest for TW (I think it is 1.25ss, but I really also had great results from 1.48s) and run it a few more days. They were pretty much even for me, but others find one or the other kernel makes a real difference!). Compare after doing the same activities through a charge or two.
#2 If your battery life remains "poor," note what poor really is (ex. how much screen time? and how much total run time prior to getting to zero or 10-15%? ...something like that).
#3. Then get BBS and one of the "automatic" battery-saver programs and work with it for about 4-5 days and that many recharge cycles. See what your norms are but do it for the same type of usage!!! If better while using the battery fixers, then you can work at picking off the app or apps that are sucking your battery more than you want. Not as tedious as it sounds. Of course, staying with a rom for three weeks might be a challenge , but this is a nice rom to work with.
#4. I don't think you will need to under-volt to get good BL. I wonder if your phone is stable in doing that? Or, does it induce additional lag? That might be a high price to pay for more run time. (You could compare the UV results with your "norm" as well!)
#5. Finally, we are on Galaxy S2 Sgh-i777 -and can change batteries all day long for not so much per battery! It is not elegant, but it works. (Done it myself several times -even with good battery life).
Good Luck!
Best ROM, Good battery life... been with Shoman's ROM since shostock2 never have a problem with the battery life...

Lately my battery usage in battery monitor widget has been going over 1000ma multiple times a day. In fact this has been the case both at the beginning of my Rezound's life on the first firmware, and again now.
At one time in between I used to never see it go over at most 700ma, and experienced reasonable battery life too. Usually I saw about 70ma to 300ma usage. This was with several different roms on the same firmware. I think it was the first or second ICS firmware but I don't remember for sure.
I'm starting to think the firmware a few versions ago was better on battery life. What do you guys think?
I was running GB with the old firmware up until just last week. I was averaging about 20 hours on a full charge with 1-2 hours of screen on time. The rom ran great and the only issue I really had was my 4G would cut out completely whenever I tried to play Youtube videos....
Last week I updated to the latest official ICS global rom with the new radios and firmware, and my battery life has gone in the toilet. I'm averaging about 15 hours on a full charge with the same 1-2 hours of screen on time. My phone gets MUCH hotter when just doing simple things like browsing the web, often getting above 100* F. On GB firmware I was usually in the mid 90's unless I was gaming. This is with the stock kernel. For the past couple days I've been trying FunkyKernel with some under clocking and undervolting which has helped the heat but not so much the battery life.
I'm kinda pissed and strongly considering finally going S-OFF just so I can roll back to the old firmware.
I actually think I had the best battery life on the first ics firmware, but like I said it might have been the second one. I don't remember how many there have been, but I have done all of them.
This latest one just seems to suck down power.
Anybody else have some input?
I just recently updated to the official global firmware and am running Rezone Redux with Funky 3.7. I'm not doing any undervolting and the only change I made to the frequencies was setting the min to 96 and the max to the stock 1512. With my extended battery, I'm averaging around 4.5 hours of screen on time, which is actually about 30 minutes more than I've ever gotten out of this battery. Then again, I keep my data, WiFi, and GPS off at all times unless they're needed, screen brightness at 13%, I'm using an app called Greenify to hibernate certain apps (not freeze, there's a difference), and I'm using the Wheatley governor. I'm very happy with this setup.

So maybe it isn't affecting your as much because you keep your radios turned off. I also use greenify and it has definitely helped.
I might go a day with my mobile data enabled all day and see what happens. I got into the habit it of toggling my data off about a year ago. The only reasons for me to keep it on would be weather updates and Facebook notifications, neither of which is really important enough to me to have them refresh automatically. I don't use push email or anything like that, either. I suppose it would make a difference for someone who needed instant email notifications and such.

I also keep data off most of the time unless the phone is plugged in, but still, battery just hasn't been the same since the latest firmware update...
I want to update you guys on my battery issue I thought was related to the new firmware. Every rom I had used since the newest firmware release was horrible on battery life. Using battery monitor widget to monitor power usage, I was often seeing over 1000ma usage many times per day.
I recently installed neo's infection 2.9.1 which uses a stock kernel based off Flahalf's work. My extreme battery drain is gone! The highest usage I have seen in 2 days is around 500ma, and normally it is 100ma or less! Not only that but this Rom is smokin fast. It feels like a new phone!
And it fixed wireless tethering! I'm so happy and thankful for the awesome work or devs have been doing. Thanks guys!
Unfortunately for peeps like me who enjoy gaming on their phone, the JB roms aren't all that great. Graphics performance is generally poor....
Maybe you should give it another try. I just played some shadow gun and the performance was fine.

I have looked for neo's infection 2.9.1 and find it nowhere. Its getting late so maybe im just tired. But i need a fix for battery also.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

Then you must not have looked very hard, it is here on XDA in the Rezound Original Development forum, along with other amazing ROMs like Tron, Beanstock, Liquid Smooth, PAC-Man, etc.
[ROM][GPL][CDMA/GSM][Jb-4.2.2]☣INFECTION-2.9.1☣[07/20/13][CM-10.1.2][LINARO-4.8] will take you right to the Infection thread!
Well I thank you for the post and help I keep forgetting there are two separate forms for DEV now which i really never understood why they made two.
Thanks
