Hello all
I'm new to Samsung phones, because I have one HTC HD2.
But I just got myself one SGS2.
I have been reading alot to try and learn something about rooting my SGS2 and installing custome ROMs.
But there is something that I can't know what is it, is the XXKE and XXKF2 codes that I read in all the Root and Roms posts.
Can anyone explain to me what this is, before I make a mess with my brand new SGS2?
Thanks for the help.

Those are stock ROM version codes.
First 2 letters (XX) = Region (XX = Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom)
Next 2/3 letters (KE/KF) = Particular Rom version
In this case KE series is older and KF is Newer

And for rooting try this:

Thanks for the usefull links.
In the CF-Root post, I see this codes:

shahadat already explained the rest but CWM is
Clockworkmod is a 'custom recovery' made by xda member koush. Every phone had a recovery partition designed so that if the user messes up a ROM installation, they can recover their phone. CWM is a modified recovery installed into the recovery partition that allows advanced control over ROM recovery, installation and much more.
Features of CWM include:
- NANDroid Backup, This allows you to completely back up your existing ROM with all its files, data and apps
- Restore Backup, Restores a previous backup (obviously...)
- ROM installation, Allows you to install a ROM contained inside a flashable .zip file
- Wipe data/Factory reset, completely erases all of your data contacts, apps etc, leaving your phone 'as new'

Factory reset, or better flash again to be safe and use system app remover. That's what I use and have zero issues.

tethering/hot spot issues after XWKI8 upgrade
I updated ma phone with XWKI8 successfully and its workin well on ma sim.
I donn see any difference from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 yet. but there is one thing I’m hating, I use tethering and portable hot spot alot and this upgrade doesnt allow to make any changes in configuring Id password –
its,
Network SSID – AndroidAP
security – WPA2 PSK
password – 823e3d04966
which is unchangable, cant change is ssid name of password of security type. it changes temperorily, I use “open” security in ma room.
it really sucks. I am irritated.
is there anyway we can change it?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Try to delete the cache of aplication.
I Tried that still the same problem
Move apps from SD to Phone? Maybe even format your SD
Or...
1. Wipe cache partition
2. Wipe Dalvik cache
3. Try another launcher
4. Reinstall custom ROM or,
5. Reflash stock ROM

Hello everybody! Another one from my friend
Samsung galaxy S2 4.0.3 disclaimer will not register. The phone says processing and then error.
He had tried factory reset but it didn't help.
Some features such as the calendar do not sync on occasions
On the settings menu Applications is shown as Apps not sure why as he has compared it to another S2 on 4.0.3 and it shows as Applications.
The phone has been rooted.
The current version is I900XXLPB
I have attached some screenshots

on a rooted phone, the software update will not work anyways, you might just disable it altogether.
Is just he has (my friend) second SGSII and that one was rooted and it updated fine without any problems

XXLPB is Frankienstien version from Intratech isn't it, if so it says on his post that this is Beta firmware so may not work correctly
Tell you frient to go to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
and download from the 3rd post either XWLP7 or XXLPW they both contain the generic UK and Ireland CSC package, I have XWLP7 rooted and it works fine.
Once he has the new rom flashed and phone rooted do a factory reset, remember backup, nandroid etc before doing anything.
He can still remove all the bloatware stuff with TB then he may find everything works properly.
If there is a problem with getting root access just downlaod the insecure kernel from Chainfire that matches the version XWLP7 or XXLPW whichever he chose.
Once new rom is installed do a factory reset to clean it out then set it up from scratch, remember to backup etc before doing anything, no back up of data means no restore of data.
EDIT:- Just checked on sammobile and the latest T Mobile version for i9100 is pad I9100BVLPB and csc I9100TMULPC
Thank you very much, he will do that next week and I will post if there is still something wrong (hope not)

If I can make out correctly you want to go back to ICS from JB? Try ODIN'ing back to latest stock ICS build from your region, if you do not have a nandroid backup. (you might have to factory reset the phone in case you are stuck in bootloop)

Looks like a direct translation from Japanese to English.
I think this guy flashed the JB release on the Japanese S3 variant and now he's got this information onscreen.
Here's my attempt to ask him whether he's got an I9300.

Do you have the international I9300 model or the Japanese model?
If you have the Japanese model then download the appropriate firmware and install it using 'Odin'.

Hi Guys, I'm in a stupid situation and I hope you can help me.
I tried to root my new ZOPO ZP500+ Plus MTK6577 following the instructions from this russian forum: http://forum.china-iphone.ru/viewtopic.php?p=758619#p758619 by using the SP Flash Tool. It was successful, so I got root. But now I have no WLAN and no Bluetooth. :crying:
So I downloaded the original Zopo 500+ Firmware from here:http://www.zopomobile.com/fuwu.php and flashed it. Unfortunately the problem hasn't been resolved.
I try my luck at http://www.zopomobileshop.com/en/content/9-download-zopo-mobile-latest-rom but especially the file for the ZOPO ZP500+ is no longer available.
Please, can someone help me to solve the problem? I know, there are a lot of smart people here. Thank you.
ZOPO ZP500+ PLUS original Firmware / Boot Image
Okay, I got it with the firmware from http://www.zopomobile.com/xiazai.php
Attention for all others: there are two versions of the firmware. Only the version from 20121009 worked for me.
There is also a paper as a pdf on the page that describes the different versions. There is probably a sticker on the back under the battery that indicates the version. For me, this sticker is missing completely, so I could't determine the version.

More on ZP500+ rooting
Further to the above excellent post (noting the firmware differences which is important to know when updating the PROM) I also noted that the root process has caused some users problems. There is a thread on Android.net that I quote below, noting how a ZP500+ was rooted recently. Note it refers back to an xda-developers.com thread about one method for generic rooting a phone:

I have a ZP500+ but in my case the supplier (Etotalk.com) rooted the phone for me prior to shipping the phone too me.
For everybody who has a ZP500+, I'm almost sure that, if you don't have the sticker, your version is 6620 (if you have the sticker, it could be 6628 or 6620, which it is ticked).
I'm having a lot of problems rooting the phone... Teorically, it is rooted, but a lot of apps don't work (root uninstaller, adaway, adblock, root xplorer, etc). In fact, the only app with succesful root access in my phone have been Apex Launcher... Toooooo weird :S
any ideas?? thanks!
Hi -
I am sorry if this question bothers some ... but I have looked around (searched) for a day or 2 and learning the do's and don'ts
of Rooting / Installing Recovery / Flashing ROM's for This phone (my 5th Android phone). I am pretty familiar with rooting and
running custom recoveries flashing roms and kernels and even a little coding (very little) on many phones and tabs over the past
couple years. But this is a new phone ( well new for me ... old for everyone elses haha ) . I have used the search forum button,
but with this phone in particular (T-Mobile Version) it takes me to hundreds of different results.....
What I am asking for is ANY HELP AT ALL. Be it a reply or a link or just a push into the correct thread. Like I said, I want to
Install a recovery (either CWM or TWRP )
Root the phone
Start flashing custom ROMS and Kernels
I see some program called "Odin" but I have never used a PC app to root my stuff in the past ... so yeah I am confused
Lastly....what is throwing me OFF is my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S II, but it is the T-Mobile version, so it does not have the home key,
and I can't even figure out how to get into recovery without that.
PLEASE Help me .... Here is exactly what I got. ( See pictures bellow )
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S II ( T-MOBILE VERSION )
MODEL: SGH-T989
STOCK [JB] 4.0.4
Network: T-Mobile
SIM Card: Apx 2 year's old
SD-Card: 32 Gig's

Currently I am running a heavily modded MIUI on a T-Mobile LG G2x P999 and I run Windows 7 Ultimate on my PC.
*Note* I DO NOT CARE if I lose anything that is currently on the phone.
Thank you for at the very lest reading this far !! I ramble on a lot I know Looking forward to some helpful replies :good:
