Hi guys,
I turned my flyer on today and had a prompt to complete a software update, roughly 4.5 mb so I assume it's to do with HTC's security update that is rolling out.
However when the device restarts to install the update, all I see on screen is the yellow triangle and a blue android...
I've left it like this for 20 minutes and nothing actually happens with the update, nor do any of the hard buttons work ect
I unlocked the bootloader a while ago via one of the methods in the Dev forums but haven't really used the flyer since, so I assume it's down to the bootloader being unlocked?
What I want to know is, how to I restore the Flyer to TOTAL stock, ie bootloader, ROM, EVERYTHING.
I've had a look around and haven't managed to find anything, so I hope someone can help
thanks!
Same problem the last security updade dont work with rooted flyer
please help us
I've seen that if you remove htcloggers.apk from /system/app with root explorer or something, but this doesn't seem to have got me anywhere!
To restore use the ruu for you model and software version. There are a lot of guides on how to do it all and to relock your bootloader. You just boot into fastboot and run adb. And type fastboot oemlock and that will relock the bootloader if that doesn't help the problem. Just run the ruu as I stated before hope everything works put well with you. Repost here and I will check later to see your progress and se if I can help a little more.

Thanks for this - I've downloaded the RUU from the top of the thread in development but when I attempt to run it, it throws up a 170 error (I think, not at home at the moment)
When I check the logs it picks up HTC sync and I can see that it's trying to run adb but doesn't seem to manage it. Any ideas?
I will give the other thing a go this evening!

Go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2197909 (viperRuu)
It has everything you need to get yor phone ready for a return, I've used it myself, it's pretty easy, download the drivers in that thread and you might need to install htc sync also, that maybe your main issue, get all the files from there and good luck.

Have you tried to do a Factory Reset?
Thats will be the first thing to do
If that doesnt fix it find the RUU for ICS and see if reinstalling it fixes the problem
or look for the RUU for GB if you reaally want to go back to it.
Thats the only option you have since you are s-on
You can download from here Shooter RUU
Make sure you download the one for your device
can you guide me how to do it? thanks so much

Here is how to perform a factory reset: Link
Flashing the RUU to revert to GB or ICS you have to download the RUU from the link I posted in my first post.
There is 2 options you can follow,
If you have a PC with drivers installed to recognize your phone then download a .exe file and run the program on your PC
Or just download the RUU.zip rename it to PG85IMG.zip and place it in the root of your SD card and reboot to bootloader by pressing and holding (power + Volumedown) once the phone turns on release the buttons and it will load the ruu by it self follow the on screen instructions to flash it..
Make sure you phone has 50% or more battery if not it will not load,
*Make sure you download the RUU for your device and carrier.
If you tell me what carrier you have I can point you to the ruu you need.
i dont think you'll be able to run a GB ruu like this. you'll need to s-off and downgrade your hboot first. someone correct me if i'm wrong but your main version is higher than the GB ruu so it will give you an error
P.S. mauricio.valladolid I think you made a typo there. its PG86IMG not PG85IMG
okay, can you teach me how?? thanks for all your help...
getting s-off is a little complicated for new users so i wouldn't really recommend it. all the instructions are at http://unlimited.io/juopunutbear.htm
its involves performing the wire trick and you'll need ubuntu operating system or ubuntu livecd if you dont wish to change OS.
what i would recommend is doing what mauricio.valladolid already told you. run an ICS RUU. his instructions are pretty clear, i don't know what to tell you to make it easier to understand
tell us what carrier you use. also tell us which region is your device purchased from. for e.g I have an European unbranded device. some people use rogers or vodafone branded devices. tell us what you have
Ok, I believe that I have officially soft bricked my phone. I guess for any help to be given I should give a little background.
These are the things that I did to the phone when I got it about 2 months ago:
Unlocked bootloader using steps on HTC dev
Installed Philz Touch CWM
Rooted
Ok, so a few days ago I got a notification that there was a KitKat OTA update available. I knew that because I had a custom recovery installed that I wouldn't be able to let the OTA install by itself. So, I went ahead and downloaded the OTA and tried to flash it via CWM, it didn't work. I reverted to the stock recovery and tried it again, nothing. Then I did something, I can't remember exactly what I did. I think I took the firmware zip out of the OTA and tried to install that using CWM, but it failed because zip was corrupted. After that it will only boot into Hboot. From what I've read it being able to get to Hboot still is a good sign and that it can probably be saved. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get it up and running again? I really appreciate any help that can be given.

Here is what you need to do, it will mostly revive your phone (thanks to @TehFlash for writing it and the guys who host the files).
After you get back into your phone again, I recommend you S-OFF your device, and then downgrade to JB HBOOT then run the RUU and then reboot into JB and do the OTA to get to KitKat properly.
in need of some help
i can no longer do this on my own, i've had my phone for about 6 months or so now, and about february i successfully rooted my device. like the OP i got the notice a few days ago for the KK OTA and tried to install it and it obviously didn't work. now i've gotten a new computer since then and don't remember all the programs and files i had/need to install this new rom. i did try downloading a KK .zip and installing it from the philz touch bootloader and that didn't work either, so now my device is soft brcked. my hboot is the same as the OP, i clicked on that link and couldn't really understand what it was saying to do. if someone could dumb it down a bit for me and explain it some in greater detail, it would be heavily appreciated.
YES!!!! Thank you.
Ok everything works perfectly now. Thank you so much. And thanks to TehFlash for the post. Also, @TehFlash what do you mean downgrade to Jellybean Hboot. Do you mean just follow the same steps as before just use the Jellybean Hboot? And do you recommend any good methods for getting s-off?

instructions for getting s-off http://forum.xda-developers.com/desire-601/help/how-to-s-off-t2814086/post54103450
if u wanna run the ruu, u need to downgrade to jb hboot with s-off bec the ruu only works with jb. we dont have the KK ruu yet. u r s-on u cant downgrade to jb hboot
Now a new problem.
Ok, I finally got around to following the s-off instructions and it doesn't seem to be working. I am not able to get an ADB connection now that the phone is updated to KitKat. Anyone know what the problem could be? I tried installing new drivers and uninstalling HTC sync like the instructions at http://rumrunner.us/instructions/ says, but still nothing. Any help is appreciated.

Can you access the recovery menu? Does fastboot recognize the device? Can try setting up drivers on another computer?
What does it say when u type adb devices?
I am able to access the recovery menu, and fastboot sees the phone.
When I do adb devices it gives this output:
Code:
PS C:\Users\Tyler\Documents> adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
Disable usb debugging then enable usb debugging
Tried that, still nothing.

I recently decided that I wanted to unroot my HTC Droid DNA. I am just tired of the bugs that come with custom roms and I never really took advantage of root. I tried to use RUU to unroot but I kept getting error 155. I found out that is caused by having the wrong hboot version. I had 1.57 and needed 1.54. I downgraded but accidentally went down to 1.33 and now my computer won't recognize my phone so I can't upgrade my hboot to what I need it to be. I have tried to install the drivers manually the same way I did when I first decided to root my phone but it says that the drivers aren't compatible. Does anyone know of any drivers that I can use or any other way I can unroot my phone? Thanks in advance!
I found a stock android 4.4.2 rom and have decided to just use that rather than unroot my phone. I would still like to know how to update my hboot though so that I can use fastboot. Is there a way I could do it through recovery? If not I guess I need to drivers for hboot 1.33.
