[Q] Got Past Bootloader - Motorola Droid X2

Ok so I'm one of those guys who fooled around with there X2 to much and is stuck in boot loop. I have done much research and found that no one has been able to get back into their phone. I have however found a way into it and can access all my files and run adb commands. I can have root rights to the system and mount it at rw. I can pull bugreports, install and uninstall files and apk's. My question is could this info be used to break through the bootloader all together?

Please post the steps to do this

Im sure it would assist the community very much

No, there is not. The current root method requires a downgrade RUU to obtain root. I recommend you head over to Developer section and use the root method posted by jcase.
OK thanks geuss I'll keep messing with adb to see if I can get it to work right

[Q] SBF w/Clockwork

I was cruising around doing some reading today and found a thread where someone had managed to pull the stock recovery out of an SBF file and replace it with Clockwork. They even made a "recovery only" sbf file and successfully installed it on their phone.
So from what I can gather, this would allow people to flash ROMs, themes, etc. without having to unlock and install a new recovery? You would have Clockwork with a locked bootloader?
Someone shed some light on this for me, please.
I think the bootloader still needs to be unlocked because of the signature verification.

Not so much signature validation, because that is a function of the recovery - but unlocking the partitions to be written too.

Thanks for clarifying, I wasn't quite sure.

I think I understand now, thanks. I was under the assumption that since Motorola are technically the only ones who are creating the sbf files, that they would be trusted by the devices to do as they please. Again, I am just learning here so thanks for whatever info comes about on this.
If anyone is at all interested in the thread I stumbled upon:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/hacking-help/39606-making-sbf-file-2.html
^^ there it is. It's dated, but I thought it might hold some ideas(?)
This was done in a way back with the moment. Could use the manufacturers flash tool and flash rooted and unlocked stock based roms

Odin, and still the best way to mod imo

Yeah, I realize it was a bit dated but it seemed like a good way to do things. I would like to see even simple things like deodexed stuff in sbf, but it's not sounding like it's that simple.

Watch the video for flashing back to stock, that will unroot your device.

No i dont but i unrooted it following the video qbking77 did.thanks for the help i would still like to know that way too

I'm new to Android but from what i've read SU is necessary for root so i don't know if it can just be deleted.

I am unsure about this too...even using the torpedo method, I think the install-su.sh line essentially gives SU access right? but once rooted, you can uninstall the Superuser.apk, and still have root access...I'm not sure...
Flash this SBF onto the phone after wiping everything. This will remove any user modifications including rooting or unlocking.

Lost root access Original droid razr. Is there a fix?

Sorry i looked for a similar thread for this and i couldn't find one for the razr.
Basically i rooted by phone for the first time ever and the next day i noticed i had an OTA update. So now I have system version : 6.12.173.XT912.Verizon.en.US . I did find out that i made a mistake in accepting this update and now I cant access root.
Is there a fix for this? what do i have to do? I need wifi tether by this sunday cuz im leaving town and staying on an army base so i dont know what kind of internet access i will have.
Again im sorry but i did look to see if this issue was brought up. Im a forum mod myself and i know how double threads are annoying. So just direct me to the correct thread if it exists.
There's a new root exploit called Motofail that will fix you up nicely.

Tbh, i saw that thread but wasnt sure it was the correct fix. Thank you for your input kind sir. I will tell you if it worked for me when i get enough balls to actually try this.
So this is how the time line should work correct?
1. Rooted my droid Razr
2. Downloaded and Installed update XT912
3. Update caused Razr to break root
4. Download and install Motofail
5. Profit?
I should be back to having root access correct?
yep there we go! thanks it looks like i have root access again. The only prob is b4 this happened my phone booted directly into clockworkmod recovery. it doesnt do that now. anyone know how i can get my phone to do this again?
Edit: I fixed it, all i had to do was install safestrap again.
Glad it worked! Check out Supercurio's awesome OTA Rootkeeper app when you get a chance, it'll save you the trouble when the next OTA hits.

Bootloader Unlock???

Hi Guys...
Just got an insurance replacement....
Running 2.06
Did moonshine s-off but need to unlock bootloader also so I can load recoveries....
Can someone please help me.
When I try to install supercid....I get install failed.

If you are S-Off then the phone is unlocked and you can flash the recovery provided you know what you are doing.

Your unlocked so now go in the app store and get "ROM manager" which will flash you ClockwordMod Recovery. (Easiest way IMO)
I am an idiot....I do know what I am doing but didn't realize moonshine it all in one step.
All good now...instalingl twrp
Or get Goo Manager and load TWRP
I'm new to the phone world but I'm trying to get up the nerve to root phone but I don't feel Like I'm tech savvy enough to do it,the whole unlock Bootloader because I have (2.06)..it just sounds like too many things can go wrong...any advice?

The easiest method really is to dl the Ubuntu 32 bit iso and make a bootable cd/usb of it and do moonshine from within the live portion of that iso. takes all of 30 mins and most of the time completes without issues everytime like clockwork.

You don't need to download Ubuntu anymore they added windows support I moonshined using windows xp
4.3 Carbonized DNA!!
Yes I did it the other day. There are some good videos on YouTube that help. Got an error and for some reason my phone was showing up until I put it in the adjacent USB port.
*I think it's USB port related, not software*

Yes, but using windows brings a lot more chance of error due to drivers and other bs, that's why I said the easiest way, was using Ubuntu.

Hey guys, this thread seemed on topic for my question. I have a used DNA on the way, I presume it has the new firmware.
Coming from a Rezound with S-OFF and unlocked bootloader, I want to be able to flash ROMs and kernels on my DNA. Do I just need to get S-OFF and then I can load custom recovery and flash whatever I want? This is what it sounds like, but just wanted to clarify. Thanks!

I have not been following the DEV scene for this device in awhile. At this point even with the latest firmware and latest hboot you can achieve S-OFF?
Moonshined with win 7 64bit. Failed a bunch of times 4th time it worked. Same USB port.
