Gb back to froyo backup. - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is it as easy as flashing the backup in cwm or do I have to flash the stock radio in recovery 1st?
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App

Depends on which froyo backup you have. If it's one of the newer froyo builds then it's compatible with the newest radios. If it's an older froyo build then you have to go back to the old radios.

It's stock rooted. 2.2.1

It's gingersense 1.1 currently. I have a bu of stock rooted and thundersense also....

Your question was answered.. but I think you didn't quite follow. Like one of the posters said.. if your Froyo Backup is that of a NEWER Froyo backup (MR2 Froyo software no. 1.66.xx).. then yes.. you can restore GB & Froyo Backups back and forth without any issue since they both work on the same radio.
If your Froyo is older.. then you'd have to flash the appropriate radios every time you restore.

That's why I posted which backups I have... I'm not too sure about them... The one is the latest official software. Is that what you mean by newer froyo software?

Your not going to hurt anything. If you want to restore your Froyo backup go ahead. If it boots up and dosent have service then its an older build and you will need to flash a older radio. This one should work.
http://www.multiupload.com/V2ED7Y5EU2
If that radio dosent work or you would like to see the thread it came from it is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045081
Edit: From your post eariler, you flash radios in HBOOT, rename the radio file to PG05IMG.zip and place in the root of your sd card. Boot into HBOOT (phone off, hold volume down and power) phone will flash the radio. The ROMS are flashed in recovery.
Edit2: After you are done flashing the radio file, after the phone reboots, delete or rename the radio file so it dosent try to reflash the next time you go into HBOOT. ok im done editing now.

Ah sorry I didn't get back to the thread sooner. It makes sense that if it was an older froyo build you'd need the old radios. There were only a small handful of ROM's for the new radios and they came out pretty recently.

Downgrading Thunderbolt 4G

Hi...
Is there a chance to downgrade an HTC Thunderbolt 4G from Gingerbread to Froyo? (2.11.605.9 to any 1.xx) withour ROOT?
Is there a chance t brick my Thunderbolt if I tried??
Thanks for any advice
No. To flash a rom you need s-off. To keep a froyo rom from updating you need a custom froyo rom with root.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
Thanks a lot
So, If I have the 2.11.605.9 I can't return my Thunderbolt to any 1.xx?
Even if I go rooted?
Sure you can. Once rooted, flash the FroYo radios, then the FroYo ROM.

Thanks a lot...is there any kind of guide for do this????
I'm relly interested in doing this....
I already Unlock the Thunderbolt using HTCDev Unlock....now what more I need to do?
I used this guide to downgrade http://www.thunderboltforums.com/fo...f-after-updating-latest-ota-2-11-605-9-a.html
then root with this:

Im stuck on the downgrading I download the .zip file and check it with MD5 and is good just when I trie to do it the phone start to scan HBOOT and at the end appears not file found...wrong... or something like that very quick to see it but don't let me press up or down volume keys since never appear that option....
What can I do for make that downgrade!!?? Because the .9 can't be rooted as long as I now
Make sure the file is named correctly, and NOT in a folder on your sd card.
Also, make certain you have 40%+ of battery and that sd is FAT32 format.

RUU Checks [DEVS]

Instead of posting a new thread, I edited this one instead
So here's another theory of mine, the OTA files check cid correct? this is located in the build.prop file? Any others this can be found in that it checks for it?
Dark Nightmare said:
So here's my idea, well first of all I wanna know what changes other than system files, kernel and recovery when you upgrade from gb to ics? Is the Hboot the only other major change?
Since hboots can be upgraded via hboot using a PH85IMG, can we pull the hboot image or possible use the newer shp image we have, upgrade the hboots of mobilicity users maybe their kernels and recoveries as well, though those can be flashes via recovery, yeah, so back to the point here, can we pull the new Hboot from someone on ics or use the one we have, upgrade the s-on gb users hboot then have them flash the system files to manually update to ics? I'm gonna test the theory but since I'm s-off, my results may differ, that's why I need your opinions before we do a test of it.

You can't push the radio without S-OFF, the radio is just as important as the hboot. The only way to flash the radio while S-ON is to flash the entire Update.zip through hboot screen. And if you are not on T-Mobile you need to be S OFF

This isn't for a radio bro, though that makes me wonder why we can't do certain things on the amaze.
This is gonna be a cwm flashable of a telus stock with the mobilicity build.prop so users that are s-on stuck on GB due to them flashing a stock rom and not having a backup or it just not working for them to be able to flash my zip, restore the stock recovery and update with the OTA.
I would be so happy if this works .

It's not really a smart move to change the CiD without knowing how the radio is for that carrier. And flashing a RUU from another carrier is possible if it's not changing things like hboots

installing rom reverted my basband to gb

Hey guys, I installed the new venom Rom coming from the latest ics leak, I love everything about this Rom but I noticed that my baseband reverted back to the gb versions, I was never able to get 4g in my area on these old versions. I tried restoring back to the ics Rom and still have the old baseband. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The basebands aren't part of the rom nor are they stored when you do a nandroid backup of a rom. If you reverted them, you didn't do it from installing a new rom.
Any chance you s-off'd the phone lately?

[Q] What ROM for the HTC EVO 3d cdma is the best?

I have tried many Roms on this phone and I finally have s-off jbear. And so far nothing pleases me to the point where il use it everyday lol.. I got YAS4.v9. (Which is my favorite so far)Yesterday and it actually booted now that I have s-off but the WiFi doesn't work (when I try to enable it, it says error) no matter what kernel I flash with the Rom. I tried all 3 , stock, mirage, and buttered toast...no luck. On the page of yas4 it said hboot 1.58 recommended but after doing jbear s-off last night it changed my hboot to 1.57.5757 maybe that's the problem? I used to be on 1.58.0000 but with s-on yas4 never worked. If anyone has a solution to fix the WiFi error on this awesome Rom (YAS4.V9. please let me know) So now I am back to the stock ruu with the backup I made. If there are other awesome roms you have and liked please let me know. I would also prefer sense 4 roms but whatever works, works!!! Thanks for any help.
P.S: I've saw this gingerbread senseless Rom but I'm not able to download it and it just looks like a super fast and very lite rom. Anyone knows where I can download it? Thanks.

On the sense 4 Rom you have to do something with WiFi direct, don't know exactly I didn't play with it much. You were on the right track by flashing a kernal, but it won't help on that rom
If your going to flash anything other than sense ics, you will want to switch to hboot 1.50.5050
Once u switch to that hboot you can flash gb, jb, miui and some ics. Just make sure they are for cdma
I would recommend the hood pope

Well i just tried flashed the 4.3 version. It booted successfully but as soon as the pull ring screen appears my phone just completely shuts off and reboots and it wont stop...So once again i flashed my stock backup. Do i have to be on hboot 1.50.5050 for this rom to work?
I guess I should explain when you switch the hboot 1.50 you will not be able to boot some roms. If you flash the wrong rom it could boot loop. so a good rom to flash would be butterz sense. I'm pretty sure it works on all hboots.
once you flash the ROM you need to change your hboot by flashing a pg86img.zip through bootloader
You do this by placing this file on the root of your SD card and rename PG86Img.zip
https://db.tt/qS7iQe0y
Reboot into bootloader and accept the update you will then need to boot into the Rom and delete or rename the PGI
86IMG.ZIP from your sd using a file explorer program
Reboot back to bootloader ensure that your HBOOT has changed to 1.50 then you can proceed to flash gingerbread or jelly bean roms, just make sure to backup before you do anything

Soff won't change. You essentially got Soff so you could change hboots.
The op of a rom should say what hboot works.
If it doesn't say, general rule is
Ics = 1.57 or up
Anything else = 1.50 or below

lol..I wish i could find a way to flash this kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1866375) then i could oc the cpu to 1.9. What kernel do you use.. I would use the mac one but with the download link they supplied its not a kernel size...Its like over 100mb? that makes no sense..I just want my phone perfect. Hmm im guessing you have your phone all nice and tidy- What are you running? Kernel, rom, hboot, recovery?
I change often
Mirage is a great kernel imo
Right now I'm running the ics version of zr3d-XL. I'm on hboot 1.50
As long a you have a good backup, flash away and only do 1 tweak or add on at a time. Sooner or later you will Bork your phone....but with a good backup, you can usually save yourself pretty quick
Sent from my PG86100 using xda app-developers app
O..well I flashed this gb Rom and it is very light and fast. But I tryed to flash mirage kernel and my phone wouldn't boot. I'm guessing its only for ics. I'm starting to think I should have bought the HTC EVO 4g LTE. I like this one but coming from the HTC inspire i thought it would be flawless with most games (cause that's what I like to do) and it still seems laggy. Try downloading arcane legends from the app store and tell me if it lags at all. It's an mmo and when I'm in an area with a lot of people it will lag. But the thing is when I'm playing on my friends LG motion which has the same specs as the HTC EVO 3d, except the motion has a 3.5" screen or something like that. It never lags at all. And all games seem flawless.. u could even try running nenamark 2 on your phone and let me know what you get. I got about 49fps once. You can get it from the playstore. P.s what kernels work with gb? Mirage dosent boot. I also tryed buttered toast non working either.
