[Q] Any way to delete Samsung account without Factory reset? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I've just recently had to do a factory reset and restore with Titanium Backup, now everything is working exactly like I want except Samsung Dive hasn't registered my phone.
It says to remove and re-add the Samsung account, but when I try it says you can only do it with a factory reset. Any way around this? Just don't want to go through setting up and restoring my phone again!
Cheers.

Check if Samsung Account is in Titanium if so factory reset and restore without Samsung Account .

I found a way to do it with Titanium Backup.
1. Freeze Samsung Account
2. Reboot
3. Delete data from Samsung Account through Titanium Backup, then reboot again
4. Now go into Settings -> Accounts and sync and the old Samsung account should be gone and you can now add a new account.

Oh, thanks you so much !!!
I forgot my password and had given a false birthday, so I wasn't able to refind my password ^^'
But thanks to you, I was able to reset a new account ^^
I'm gonna be able to use Dive ! Cool ^^

Many thanks flagger!
But two remarks:
- you can only freeze/defrost an app in the Donate Version of Titanium Backup so it'll cost you 5 euros (which I was glad to pay).
- at step 4 I could not add a new Samsung account. Solution: first defrost samsung account in titanium backup, reboot and then you can add a samsung account.

Hello,
I'd like to do just the same but I can't find "Samsung Account" in Titanium Backup. I have:
- Samsung Apps
- Samsung Push Service
- Samsung TTS
- SamsungAppsUNA2
I tried the above steps with these 4 apps at once but it does nothing. Is it hidden somewhere?...

I got an app called samsung-account, you using a custom rom? maybe the rom deleted it?

Aaaaah, I just found it! I use the stock XWKJ2 ROM but localized in French!
So it appears under "Connexion avec un compte samsung".
I just did in Titanium Backup:
- Freeze the application (the Samsung account then disappears from Accounts and Sync")
- Delete application data
- Defrost the application
Then I could add the Samsung account again.
No reboot and I'm not even sure Freezing/defrosting was really necessary.
Thanks for the ideas guys

Such an old thread, but it helps me so much. I have Samsung Galaxy Note II 4.1.2.
I use free Link2SD instead of TB.
- Freeze the Samsung account so it disappears from Accounts and Sync
- Delete application data
- Unfreeze the Samsung account
- Without reboot I could add the Samsung account again
Thank you guys!

Warning about link2sd. Freezing is ok. Do not use it for its intended purpose of saving space on internal of phone. Several people have have had soft bricks and disappearing apps because of it. Check the link2sd thread. Just be smart and read. You will figure out the charade.

changing gmail faults...or not?

Hi! I tried to change the gmail account without making factory reset:
* Go into / data / system / root accounts.db through explorer
* Remove existing accounts.db
* After being removed please reboot your phones
* After that, when going into or open market then re-insert the account you want.
* Have a nice try, good luck
http://getfreeapplication.blogspot.com/2011/07/android-tips-how-to-change-gmail.html?showComment=1312975176182#c2616215550924612905
Everything worked fine since I entered my new account details:
1. tried to connect to google servers - didn't work - but I was signed in the market.
2. I reset the phone: com.google.process.gapps error appears (maybe google talk)
3. I am not able to enter the market and phone with new account.
My question is: Can I backup everything from my phone - but not the account informations of google?
I'd just wipe and reset the phone, but I'd like to backup the apps before...
or is there an easy working way to change the gmail account?
thank you!
AD
to backup your apps you can use "titanium backup" there is a free version on the market, if you want to backup the data from the apps you need to have root acces
ok! Thanks - I have root access. I will give it a try.
Can it be, that it takes some time - when changing gmail account - for the new account beeing able to connect with the phone?
edit: I have downloaded and installed Titanium Backup - when I want to backup everything (apps, Contacts, etc.) except google Account infos, which option should I take?
I'd like to easily change my current Gmail Account with a different one and have to wipe everything for it....

i don't use gmail, but maybe the gmail account is listed under settings > Accounts and sync?
If it is you can normaly delete it from that list
hope this helps
Hi Hitmax -
I'd like too not use gmail neither - how do you handle it? For emails I just use my private emailaddress - but I thought for using the market, etc. I have to use a gmailaccount?
thx!
AD
Yes you need a gmail to use the market.
According to hitmax117 you can ad or delete a count in account and sync menu. You can also delete gmail or market data thru application menu.
Bonsoir -
you can delete the files - but than you have to hard reset...
After a few hours of testing:
It works! Very strange behavior, I tried a lot but finally it works. I wrote down, what I did, so maybe it can help people with this problem:
After changing gmail account on device (without hard/factory reset), you get error messages after rebooting - and you can't see your device listed on the android market account (you can't download apps).
I made the following for changing the gmail account - without factory reset! ;-) and the phone is listed on the market :
(before I did anything I made a backup with clockwork Mod!)
* Go into phone: / data / system / root accounts.db through explorer
* Remove existing accounts.db (backup before!)
* now reset the phone - you'll be prompted to enter your new gmail account detais
*you'll get some error messages - you can ignore it
*even there are errors: you'll enter the market after a while
*you'll get the error message -"com.google.process.gapps", etc.
*you can fix it by putting all files from apps.rar - thanks to "The Andropirate"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=873884
*use droidexplorer or anything else with you ROOTED phone to put files to
system/apps
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=464956&d=1292420131
*reboot the phone
*no error message should appear any longer
*now you should be able to just enter the market and download apps on your phone
BUT: market.android.com will make some strange stuff: maybe it will not show your device. What now?
I tried a lot. Finally it worked this way:
'*enter google account - after:
follow this link: https://www.google.com/accounts/SmsAuthConfig
*enter any number - save - everything, that it's set up completely
after:
*set up "Apps and website authorization (translated from german) "
https://www.google.com/accounts/IssuedAuthSubTokens
*Enter some APP: e.g. Android
get the code! copy it.
reboot your phone!
After you should be prompted to sign in to your gmail account.
*enter the code you got from your account.
*Now you'll enter the market on you phone
on log off your google account (desktop) and log in again.
now go to https://www.google.com/accounts/IssuedAuthSubTokens again.
*you should now see a list, where your app is listed.
"delete" it.
On you phone you should now be prompted (maybe after reboot), to reenter your password (now with your normal account password).
NOW: you should see your device listed on the market!
I'm not sure if it works everytime, but you can give it a try, maybe it helps someone.
No guarantee.
Good Luck!

[Q] How can I disable "automatic download and install" at the Market?

Hi there,
I've bought a new Galaxy Nexus and at the 1st start, the Android Market began automatically to download and install all apps, that I use on my other Android devices (Nexus One).
How can I disable that?
Sorry for my bad english
Use a different account or unlink all services related to that account.
How do I unlink all services?

It deletes your account in the process, so I don't think you'll want that. If you do, then you'll have to:
1. Log into your account (via PC)
2. Select "edit" at the "My products" section
3. Then the first option under the second heading on the following page.
Instead, all you have to do is change your device to "hidden in menus" in your market account.
Ok, thats not what I want.
I just want to use my old account with all paid apps, but the Market should not download and install all apps automatically on my new phone.
Not sure but I think when you add the account for the first time you get the option to keep things backed up with your account. Maybe try deselecting that.

I'll try it tomorrow - after I unlocked & rooted my Galaxy Nexus.

[Q] Changing Primary Google account without deleting apps.!

Hi,
I've a galaxy S2 . I initially entered a google account and installed many apps from market with that account .
But times have changed and now i've a new primary gmail account and do not use my previous account anymore .
So is there a way to delete my old account from my S2 and enter the new gmail account while all apps still installed on my phone .?
I know that once i delete the old primary account from my phone , it'll deinstall all apps from my phone as well as remove all entries from android market associated with that account .
So , can i do this :
1. Take backup of all apps+data in titanium backup .
2. Delete my primary account from S2 and make a new account primary .
3. Restore apps+data from titanium backup , and then restore market links .
4. Hit install for all apps installed on my phone in the android market linked to my new primary account . That way market would see that apps are already installed on my phone so won't install them again and thus creating entries in android market for all installed apps .
Can i do that .??
Plz reply ....

Disable auto app reinstal after flashing?

Hello bought S3 from Three and when i flash stock room it always reinstalls these apps: Facebook, BBC iPlayer, Twitter, and 1 other cant remember. I know that google din't backup to my account, that setting is disabled. but when i flashed CM9 it din't install any apps, that happens only from Stock Room's. So it must keep them some where in device storage as a backup, hm i'm confused
If you put your Google account details in during the initial setup, play store will reinstall your apps.
Skip the initial setup and then add your Google account later. That way the apps won't download automatically.

Actually the setup wizard asks you if you:
1) Want to allow google to restore your previous settings and
2) want to allow google to backup your settings from now on.
Both on the same screen. I turn these off as google backup wastes valuable batteryl
Thats the thing it reinstalls these apps before the setup wizzard

But when installing CM9 rom all ok no updates. so something with Stock Rom. Maybe in couple of days or next week i will Flash another rom maybe i can get some videos. I also tried in the backup setting to tick and untick "Back up my data" then i'm getting a message "Stop backing up ... and delete all copies from Google Servers?" but still nothing stil the same.
Also i'm not sure if this is related but also on SD card getting these 2 files: efsbackup.tar.gz and efsdev-mmcblk0p3.img.gz
No seriously WTF just installed omega 9 same thing happen, before the setup wizard screen, it's installing apps Three, Facebook, Twitter, Smart Care, BBC iPlayer.
Ok using Root explorer, i found a folder "preload" and it has all the files includes so will delete and report back when i install new rom, does it restore again (from some where)
**** sake... just installed MIUI rom same thing.... what the hell samsung did....

restore playstore apps

hi
i use my google account on 2 devices: galaxy s3 and nexus 10 tab.
i recently flashed on my s3 a paranoid rom. there, i was asked to sign in to my google account (like always when u set up a phone) but then it downloaded automatically all apps i had on my phone before (under play store ALL) and id also knew, which apps i just use on my tablet and did not install those!
know, i finally found which rom i prefer to use from now on (cyanomod).
does anybody know how to force playstore to restore the device like id happend on the other rom?
and NO, have no other backups of my app, and the app data is not importent, i just dont want to download all apps manually.
