thats funny. you could probably delete the second message and show them the original message and the manager might side with you. or at least give you a free something when you come back friday for them making you drive there for nothing.

I stopped at Sprint and asked there as well, just for kicks - same story. They can't sell or activate them in-store until Fri.
That said, they did admit that someone came in with one earlier to get help activating it - and they couldn't - but that the customer COULD activate it on their own.

Trust me, if we could activate them now, I'd already have one here at home with me. Last guy that did that (with the shift) got canned, and word on the street has it that our new POS (piece of sh!t) system won't allow us to ring em out till friday.

Funny you talk about the new POS, I was in there today buying a Defender and the guy was having a hell of a time using my $10 off coupon on it. Reading this thread, it kills me to think my new precious was sitting in back while I was there and I can't have it.
Should have gone to the Sprint store. I got a 2nd one today, w/o pre-order, from the sprint store itself. I went in there and asked if they had received their 3d's, the manager said yes. So I asked if I could by one right now, he said yes again, and 20 minutes later I left with a nice present for my girlfriend.

The manager called back - they're opening at 8am (an hour earlier than normal) tomorrow.
She said I could be in and out in under 10 minutes.
It's going to be close getting to work on time >_<
Anyway...
I have 2 lines - my 2nd line is getting upgraded... then I need to change the numbers on the phones.
She got excited and asked what phone was on the second line, and I told her they were two Evo's. She's like, "Bring them both in and upgrade them both!"
And went on to talk about the ugprade plans and stuff. They "have extra phones" and she was anxious to put another in my name - like she can't wait to get rid of the extra stock.
Basically, if you have a 4g, they'll take it, and give you the 3d at the $199 price...
Somehow she got $300 without an eligible upgrade, and a $100 trade in credit.
That seems strange to me.
Anyway - the person with the 2nd line likes their evo and doesn't want to upgrade. And I want to sell mine on Ebay.
So...
I'm going to have to try hard not to let her rip it out of my hands in the morning. Apparently they want them badly.
If you do it at Target mobile and trade in ur EVO you get $150 for it and you just pay $50 for the D3 I'm located on Westimer and eldridge if you located in Houston tx

I went into my local Sprint store today to pre-order the Evo 3D. All I had to do was give them my name, cell number, and e-mail address and I was added to the list. No deposit needed. I asked about getting the yearly upgrade promotional pricing. He said I had a $75 credit due June 1st, but they would most likely manually override it in the system. He gave me a direct number to call to try and get this taken care of.
I just got off the phone, and it was a piece of cake. There wasn't even any menus to go through, the CS rep picked up the phone on the first ring - must be a direct line. Anyway, she asked me a few security questions and then I told her what I was calling about. She said they will put me down to get the $199 promotional pricing not only for my line, but also the other line my girlfriend uses. Said it should take 24-48 hours in the system and they will call me back Wednesday to confirm it. I'm sure your account has to be in good standing to get taken care of. I was thoroughly impressed. The rep at the store told me to stop back up next week and they should know more about the release date.

Its nice you have a good local store, but all the stores around me are terrible. I called in to confirm I could pre order the 3D in the store (as some arent doing accepting preorders yet) and asked what if I needed my account info (as my father owns the account). Left on my lunch break as I work 5 days a week and wasnt going to wait a week to get my preorder in. Arrive to find ~5 customers. I take a seat and wait as all the reps are busy (3). It took me over an hour to talk to a rep and do a 5 minute preorder, which the rep wasnt even sure about how to do it, and she wanted my PIN which I was told on the phone I didnt need.
They didnt ask for my email, only phone number, name, and PIN.
Anyone know if/where you can check the status/confirmation of a preorder? As i am weary that it was done right and really dont want to find out it was done wrong or go back to the store unless its to get my evo 3d

Did you get any type of receipt or put any money down? Why not just go to Best Buy or Radio Shack. All you need is $50 to put down and you will walk out with a gift card and a receipt for your pre-order. No info needed with your Sprint account until you go pickup the phone.
I just like dealing with my local sprint store. They have always been very helpful with any issues I have had. I didn't want to put any money down if it wasn't required. I didn't get a receipt, but he said I will get an email confirmation in 24-48 hours. I didn't think it was that hard to give them my phone #, name, and gmail account. Plus this way, I am now guaranteed the promotional pricing. Not sure I could get that with Radio Shack or Best Buy.

yes i got a receipt that only mentions the $50 gift card purchase and then a separate print out of a confirmation number, but i would like to double check that as the rep (apparently) stopped half way through and realized she was preordering the htc view and not the evo3d, so if theres anyway of checking online I'd very much appreciate it. Plus she needed help a few times from another associate, so assuming this gets as popular as the original evo... I'd like to make sure my preorder is correct.

What did you tell the CS rep? Just that you're looking to upgrade to the EVO 3d, but your line isn't eligible for the full discount?
BTW, If you call that number now, and your upgrade was supposed to be in june, you have to cal back on june 1st, there system does not allow them to push the upgrade when its only a few days away from the month it was supposed to be, but on the first of the month it allows them to do it once the "silver upgrade" is available on your account, according to the person I just talked to from that number
I can confirm I was able to reset the upgrade on my partners account. So now we are looking forward to two EVO 3Ds
So if my upgrade is July something... I should probably wait until then?

I can confirm this works too. I called that number and was told that since my partial upgrade isn't till November and my full upgrade isn't till September 2012 that I could not get the upgrade. I then called the same number again and talked to another rep and explained to them that there nothing defective with my current evo and I know I not eligible for a upgrade but I simply requested a manual override of my upgrade eligibility and they did it for me !! Took about an 30 minutes but it worked. If your eligible for a partial upgrade this process take like 5 minutes tops !! Thanks to the OP.
p.s. I think the buzz word is manual override !!

I wouldn't man. July MIGHT be when the Evo 3D is released or June I don't know. But one month is easier to wait out. I think Sprint only allows for one manual override per line. I would save that override for the future.

July of next year is when im have the $150 upgrade renewal possible.
I purchased my EVO last July, sold it back to sprint (should've ebayed it) and now am having issues with my Hero. I'm going to move away from CM on my hero to see if thatll change anything.
It randomly powercycles, it won't send or receive texts sometimes, and is just a pita! Lol
With all this talk of HTC locking the bootloader and all the speculation, I may just jump ship and move away from HTC all together.

I pre ordered the Samsung Nexus S 4G from Best Buy.... bought the $50 gift card and everything... Never got the call when they came in.
Got one of our lines bumped up to the full upgrade eligibility, and was told to try calling back in July to see about getting another one done.
The gentleman I talked to said it is a "program they are currently running, and he is unsure when they will stop this promotion."

Does anyone know how the release at the Sprint stores works? I went in yesterday to see where I am on the list and they said they could see my preorder, but they had no way of checking priority. This seems strange to me. They said they had about 90 people on the list, which also blew me away. Apparently I am supposed to show up as early as possible on the 24th (they are opening at 8am that day). This would mean that it's first come first serve on release day (as long as your name is on the list)??
Apparently they got about 45 Epics last year and had 140 preorders. Let's hope the E3D is more plentiful.
Maybe I should try to find a less popular store ????

I dont think they can do that but what i got out of what the guy told me is that someone who preordered can do what you are saying.....so if they have 150 phones and 200 people preordered and you dont show up till the next day.......good luck basically lol
Basically the pre order works like this....once the pre order period ends...they get exactly the amount of evo3Ds to fill their order plus some extras for the slow ones who think they could juss walk up and get one...soo u dont have to wait in line...as long as ur name is on the list...but they will hold one for u untill 48 hrs...

You have to remember Sprint has already said there will be NO SHORTAGE of EVO 3D'S so everyone is thinking like when the evo came out and it is just not going to be that way.
Sprint already said they have been told there will be no shortage from HTC.

I hope that's true. I still find it hard to believe that they have 90 preorders for a phone that was kept secret for so long. I am not sleeping on the sidewalk or anything but I will stop in on my way to work. We'll find out in 2 weeks.

Best Buy will call you 2 days prior to make an appt to come in so no line waiting. The pre-order is good until Monday morning. Since Friday 24th is my anniversary, I'm getting it first thing Saturday.

I left the sprint store with the same impression..I asked him if I pre ordered there that i would def get my phone on launch day and he was Luke "if your here before we run out' so I was thinking what's the point of the pre order if that's the case..I never have pre ordered b4 so I'm not sure how it works..but I had a hard time getting my 4g even months after itaunched..it seemed like stores would get like 5 at a time and unless u walked in at the right time you were sol.

apparently the girl at the sprint store in NJ where i go said i was the 2nd person there
what is weird, is that they did not require me to put any money down as a preorder, she just put me on their list
she also told me that i was guaranteed that phone if i come to pick it up that day (which i will)
i am going to call them tomorrow again to verify with another employee....
I got my evo on the first day of launch without a pre order.. literally just walked up and got it. no line... then the evo just exploded like 2 days after., once people saw it and their geeky friends were showing it off.
this time from what i keep reading, sprint wont have a shortage. just walk up and buy it. i plan on doing the same.

I was told that they call the number of people based on the phones they have. 50 phones, 50 calls to the first on the list. They said that once you receive the call you get 24 hours to come pick it up.

Did they take your number down? They are supposed to call you a day or two before release to schedule the pick up appt. You should be okay but follow up with them on Thursday if you haven't heard anything by then

No worries, your reservation stands throughout the weekend (until Sunday). After the weekend it will be first come first served. I have to work and that evening is shot cause the 24th is my wedding anniversary LOL
I'll be asking for the first appt on Saturday morning.

I'm hoping my Best Buy didn't have many preorders before me. I just barely went in a few days ago but I only have til the 30th to swap out this Nexus. I can't stand the crappy radio on this thing.

Probably no preorders but I still would have done it anyways. You for sure aren't guarenteed one now. Unless they have a bunch of preorders and not enough phones lol.

Yea I asked the guy and he's like don't even worry about it. He even asked the other guy working with him and he is the one who said its not even worth it. Hopefully I still get one. I'm gonna get there at like 9:50 since they open at 10 here. I assume I will get one. If not that'll be upsetting. I'm excited. Been using my Hero for like a year now and am so tired of it

I called them today and they said they haven't called anybody yet to make appointments and I'm not guaranteed to get one even tho I pre ordered when they first started the secret pre order. They said they have to see how many they get so I asked what number am I and he said he doesn't know and can't tell me. Assholes lol. I called BB to see if I had missed their call. They said they haven't received the shipment yet. They took my appt time and said they were getting 30 phones and when I signed up I was # 13 on the list, two weeks ago
The only call I got from them was last night the guy called and asked if I wanted an invisible shield screen protector preinstalled.
I declined and asked if they would call to set up and appointment and he said no. They were opening at 8am on Friday and just to come in anytime on the 24th and pick mine up. He said they were in the process of putting the preordered ones aside and were going to install the screen protectors for people who wanted them(for an extra charge) over the next couple days so they would have time to cure.
BestBuy called me yesterday and I scheduled my appointment today for friday @ noon. (was the earliest I could do it).

Given the fact that my dad and brother pay 50% income tax and an additional 25% tax on everything they buy, I see nothing wrong loaning money _WITH INTEREST_ from the Swedish government to pay for my expenses. Somethings got to give after paying so much tax.

They called me this afternoon around 1. Set up my appointment right when they opened since I'm preorder #1.
i am fuming right now. spoke with store manager on monday and got my preorder as a silver premier member expecting it the next day. they said i wouldnt get it until today.
today, coworker goes in to pick it up and they wont let us pick it up until tomorrow! they say that the phone cant be activated until the actual launch date, but thats such BS. people have been activating and using their EVO3D for a couple days now! i spoke to one of the reps saying that premier customers get it 3 days ahead and its even on their website!

because we know the store manager and he usually hooks it up. he was able to charge it to our account so no payment was needed up front.

Ok, since several have already so eloquently described how you are completely mistaken and have no reason to be upset, let me explain.
Tuesday morning at midnight sprint.com started allowing orders on the web site for the phone, the people that have them now are those who ordered online after that time. The phone doesn't officially go on sale until 6/24. A pre-order simply guarantees that there will be one waiting there for you once the phone goes on sale to the general public. Most retailers are opening an hour early to fulfill pre-orders and let those individuals get their phones and accessories before the general sale. Therefore, unless you ordered from sprint.com, you have to wait till the 24th to get the phone. I pre-ordered on 5/25 and I still have to wait till tomorrow to get my phone.

If you purchase from a Sprint store or sprint.com you always have the option to charge to your account as long as you have sufficient room under your spending limit. If you ever do an insurance claim for a phone you have the same option, you can either pay Asurion the $100 or have it charged to your Sprint bill.

What makes you so special that you get the phone at the store a day earlier than everyone else? Quit crying and wait till tomorrow like anyone else who pre-ordered the phone.

I'm particularly upset because he said I could pick it up today and now have to wait because of a BS excuse meanwhile everyone is playing with theirs already.
You guys sure are mean today because I'm sure many of you are familiar with the idea of getting the new toy on release date. It's not like I have a number in line or anything, there is a box with my name on it in the store and I can't even get it is why I am upset.

He probably doesn't want to risk losing his job for selling it early. Sprint themselves stated Premier members could order early on the website and most of the people who have it early did that. If I was a Sprint store manager and my best friend wanted it the day before and I know there was more than a 10% chance I'd lose my job over it I'd tell him to wait till the next day and I'd just hold his for him.

I don't think people are being mean but it's kinda obnoxious that you want it a day earlier because your name is on one, so are many other people and they have to wait till tomorrow. I ordered from amazon and have to wait till Tuesday. That's the price I pay for paying 470 for it.
I was not trying to come off as obnoxious, but I was upset that I couldn't pick it up because it can't be activated until tomorrow which is a total lie.
I'll just drink some cognac in the meantime to pass the time =)

How is it a lie? The employees are under very strict orders not to activate them before hand. If they do they risk punishment, or termination. To me that says I can't activate a phone for you ahead of time.

It's not a lie. Sprint employees are not allowed to activate Evo 3Ds until the 24th regardless of your premier status. People who have the phone now are the ones that bought from the premier store on Tuesday.
I'm guessing this also means that if you have a defective Evo 3D, then you are SOL? Or can a manager make an exception?
There's a lot of difference between store getting a delivery of phones, and store allowing to sell a phone.
If you are in such rush to get it NOW NOW NOW, why didn't you order it online? I had mine in my hands yesterday.
So, I had my pre-order with BB for aut 3 weeks. When I placed the pre, I explained to the rep that I was doing the 1 year upgrade. So, yesterday, I was back and forth from BB and the Sprint store because of the buy back thing. Long story short, you have to had to bought into the BB buy back program, whereas Sprint was buying OG EVO's for $150, no questons asked.
So here was my problem:
I went into the BB store this morning to get my phone @ 8am. (I was #2 on the list!) So, the rep pulls out my phone(at which time I'm like a kid at Christmas!), proceeded with the paperwork. Then goes to the computer to pull my information, calls over a manager, who says to me,
"Sir, are you part of Sprint's Premiere program?"
Me: "Huh?"
Him: "Apparently you're trying to do an early upgrade and we don't do early upgrades."
Me: "Whyin the hell wasn't I told this at the time of me pre-ordering?"
Him: "I don't know, but they should have checked to see if you were eligible. You'll have to pay to full retail price for the phone....wait, let us see if one of our other locations do early upgrades........they do for $399."
Me: "Oh nawl. Gimme my money back please. I'm going across the street to the Sprint store."
So, they refunded my gift card, I went across the street @ around 8:30, waslked in the lively Sprint store and was greeted by the prettiest woman I have seen with "We have the EVO 3D! Wanna get one today?" I said, "Yes, only because of you." I walked out of there with OG EVO, walked out with E3D for the same $50 I used on my pre with BB. All in less than 30 minutes!

Not even sure what you mean by early upgrade? As long as your upgrade shows up on your account then that is what you are eligible for. It doesn't matter if it was early or not......

I work for Best Buy, sorry to hear about your experience. We don't do early upgrades throughout all of Best Buy Mobile. Again, I'm sorry that the rep misinformed you, but I'm glad you got the E3D though!
