[Q] Why do ads not work in my free apps? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone please tell me why the ads from my free apps do not work (ex. Weatherbug and xda free apps)?
I also noticed that the ads on the phonedog website do not show up either.
Do you think I need to reset my phone or flash an SBF to fix this? I am worried that there is something wrong with my phone.
Thanks!

you want ads...? Anyway if you're running gingerblur or grayblur i believe those Rome come with a built in ad blocker

Lol I like the fact that I dont have ads but I am worried there is something wrong with my phone.
I am running stock. I was rooted with aroot before 1.57 but unrooted before 1.83 ota update.

Do I have to Undo the lag fix to ensure ota update?

Not sure if this is the right place for this question I have ryanzas lag fix do I have to undo it to receive the ota update? Or can I leave it I'm also rooted but not through the lag fix i rooted though the update.zip cause I have no computer any help is appreciated
The guy on the couch
Yes you will get the update. But i suggest uninstalling the lag fix just to be safe the update goes well. Use the lag fix app in the market to remove lag fix if no computer
Can I leave the root or should I just unroot to also be safe? I'm trusting the guy with the t mobile emblem lol

Okay so before OTA I should remove my OCLF?
Sent from my Vibrant
I can't remove my OCLF I tried uninstalling it using App Brain and it said unisntall successful. but if I run the quadrant benchmark test, I'm still getting in the 2100 range so I know it's still working. So I just re-installed it...Dang. I really wanna know how to uninstall it!
according to the t-mobile forum it is recommended to disable the lag fix. I kept the app on the phone and just disabled the lag fix. It also stated that even though root on phones as long as they have stock kernel it should still OTA fine. This is just from other users on the forum so nothing has been said straight from t-mobile themselves on that.

Market

I was just poking around and realized I am running 2.3.4 and Im pretty sure the last Market update we got was 2.3.6 on the OG EVO. Can anyone else confirm if their marketis not up to date as well? I also tried all the regular tricks to make it update and got squat
That's the 1st thing I noticed when I was using the phone. With CM7, I had market: 2.3.6, and with the 3D the version I have is: 2.3.4. I went into applications settings to see if I cleared the data it would automatically update after accepting the EULA, I have done that before, but the option to clear data is grayed out and clearing the cache didn't help either. I wonder why we're not getting the latest version of Market. Who else has this issue?
What's the difference?
Is not having the market from 2.3.4 to 2.3.6 an issue?
6>4, that's the difference! I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the actual app, or just the device being new, but the Market itself does not "support" the E3D on the developer side, something that some developers on the Unity forums pointed out:
http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/94...ation-Battleheart-Trial-Extreme-and-Samurai-2
"Sorry to hijack this thread, but it doesn't seem possible to locate Evo3D devices in the market back end?"
"Got the same problem, we had to block it on our Android games so far."

Im wondering if this is why certain apps are not showing. Thats the difference. Plus Im sure there were bugs in 2.3.4 hence the update
Certain apps are not showing because developers can target specific devices not to support now, rather than random hardware specs like it used to be. If the app is not showing up, then the developer selected it as a device that is not supported.

[Q] MacRom MR8 market/app issues

First off I want to say that MacRom is the most stable/speedy ROM I've used so far (thanks for all the hard work!).
Just a couple issues with the new MR8 update:
1. The new market seems to be really slow? (maybe just due to the older Eris' lack of speed?)
2. I don't know if this is a market related issue or not, but I can't install a couple apps I use. The market doesn't give me an option to even download them: Words with Friends and Google Books. I'm not sure if it's related to the new market or if the apps are somehow incompatible with the new MR8 update?
3. Is there a way to get rid of the blue line that appears whenever you tap the screen to make a selection? I've been searching but have yet to find a way. The line just kind of annoys me, personally.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I love this ROM! Thanks!
Dude the same thing has been happening the past two days for me on Deadly and Spicy ROMs. For instance I had not been able to get Titanium but I got my Pro key fine, and same thing with XDA, regular worked fine but couldn't download premium. I took a nap earlier and woke up and had premium I'm about to check Titanium so it may be a Market issue.

Good to know. Hopefully it's just a market issue then, but still no luck for me...
same here
i too am wondering why i can't download certain apps from the market, like facebook for example. it's not already installed and i get no download button for that app in the market...but i get download button for most other apps.
also wondering about how to get rid of blue bar on menu selections.

I've seen the same issues with MR8 and MR9... I'm looking into the issue, but haven't found a work-around yet. I'm thinking it may possibly be a result of the build revision bump to 2.3.5 that might be throwing the market off (showing the phone as incompatible with your device), but it's only a theory, no fact to that yet...
Glad to know I'm not the only one as I have been having trouble downloading my premium apps too. I flashed 2.3.5 yesterday. I'm a noob so I was wondering what I Fk'd up... LOL!

[Q] Question About Verizon Samsung Fascinate

Hi guys..
Sorry for wasting your time again..
Got a few question, jsut flashed my phone to gingerbread stock verizon..
I would actually want to ask what can i do to my phone after i root it?. i mean what will be the changes, cause i really can't understand the advantages of being rooted. they said there will be more options.
but what are those option?.. you mean i can download more apps in android market?.. am i right?..
also i have a question about the place where can we download full version apps games, i was informed about blackmart.. is that safe?..
also about the droidwall, someone told me if i rooted my phone, i can get that, and it seems to be very usefull to what she said..
Thankyou for responding to my question.
appreciate it so much..
also wants to confirm if verizon fascinate really doesn't have front camera cause im having hard time using the yahoo messenger video call only black screen
More Power Guys!!!
Rooting gives you the ability to modify your file systems, install custom roms, as well as apps that could not normally be installed on your phone. There is no front facing camera on your phone. You really need to ditch the gingerbread you ate using noe and follow the guide to get any of the android 4.0 roms that are on the site. You will understand why rooting is so nice when you are able to use one of those roms. You can install droidwall once you are rooted. If you are looking for free apps on the internet other than the play market, try using Google, it really works.

Rooting will allow you to do more to and with your phone than was intended. First and foremost for me it was being able to remove Verizon bloatware. You can install Custom Roms either Gingerbread or ICS, make tweaks to the phone that will make it run more effective and efficient. Either way, if you are going to root, the next thing you should learn about is making a Nandroid backup. This way you can always go back to where you were when you first started and then do it all over again to your liking. Have fun.
I too wanted to get rid of the bloatware. By putting on a ROM like Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4) on my phone I don't feel the need to upgrade. The developer activity is very good on this phone so the performance of the roms is great.

Newest Android update for Galaxy S3 kills apps?

Hey guys,
I recently got pushed the OTA update for the Galaxy S3 on Sprint. I didn't notice anything different until I went to use my Andy-83 app. I'm sure some people are familiar with this app, the TI-83 emulator thing.
It's now blacked out and unusable. I even uninstalled and reinstalled and it's BLACKED OUT! Must have been the update doing this.
Curious to know is there a way around this, I miss using this app, as I am a student. Also, does anyone have other apps with the same issue?
Sidenote- I know rooting is ultimate solution, but I really dont have the time, expertise, and effort for that right now.
Thanks.
Yup, some apps might no be compatible with the latest android version (or your current updated version).
Sucks, but its like that, wait for an app update, try and contact the developer.
