[Q] Message access forbidden by exchange policy - HTC EVO 3D

Hi, I am new to HTC phones and sense, so please forgive this question. I have my work's exchange email setup on my Evo 3D, without issues, however, I receive a forbidden access message when I try to click on my (text) messages icon. Any idea what's going on with this? I previously used the Nexus S on T-Mobile without any exchange policy issues.
Thanks for any assistance you provide.

Your exchange email should not be showing in your text messages. Might not be related.

Thanks for the reply, I was just simply trying to open the messages app to send a text, but it flashes the message and closes. Is there a setting I am not aware of? I agree it should not be related to exchange policies at all.

Hey there OP--
I'm having the same issues on my HTC Thunderbolt that I just upgraded to run Sense 3.0
I believe this is an issue with Sense 3.0, as I've seen a few people with the EVO 3D complaining about it.
Were you able to resolve your issue?

You should also put in a trouble ticket to your Exchange admin. It's quite possible they've got a restrictive policy in place, that's only now being enforced.

Same problem
I looked through the exchange activesync policies and did not see anything at all related to text messaging. My co-worker has an evo 3d and I used sense 3.0 on my evo 4g until I discovered the problem. By the way we are running exchange 2010 and the only customized policies are to enforce a password. Has anyone else ran into this problem?

I ended up asking our IT group to lift the policy due to the conflict. They said it should not have caused issues.

Exchange Activesync polices. Allow Internet sharing from the device * If this is unchecked, the Messaging app will be locked.

Can you elaborate on this? Is this an option I need my corporation to update, or is it something on the phone?
I'm having the same issue, been searching everywhere to fix it.

The setting would be on your work's Exchange server.

I guess the alternative would be to use an Internet based text program. They shouldn't have any control over that right?

[Q] 2.3.4 update broke the html view on all my MS Exchange ActiveSync email accounts

Anyone else experience this? My device is the Sprint HTC View 4g tablet.

Sprint calls it the view 4g. It's a wimax version of the flyer 3g. It was an OTA update.
Do you have html enabled on your tablet? If so what version of gingerbread are you on?
Are you sure its not a policy enforced by your exchange admins?
yes sure, on my htc sensation i have html view.

Yes, I'm sure. Enhanced email does it no problem. Also on 2.3.3 html was no problem.
the fact that you question it makes it sound like you have Html on exchange on your view with 2..3.4. If that is the case then what did you do to get it working. If not then we are just wasting time.
So this isn't that 26 or so mb file that was coming from HTC was it? I recently rooted my wife's view and just for fun tried to install this 26mb update that kept popping up. It started to update then I immediately got the white triangle ! I am still on 2.3.3 and what ever hboot comes with revolutionary.
question exchange HTML with the last update works?

[Q] Email Issue: Character\Text garble when using '

Anyone else have this problem? I'm using Exchange within the email app and have a strange problem. If I type for example: I'm, I've, Don't, or anything utilizing an apostrophe, I get the following: I'm. It seems to only happen within the email app. If I check my sent email from my Evo3D, I see the garbled mess which is not only annoying but embarrassing if I'm sending professional emails. Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated. Maybe turn off HTML but that doesn't seem like a good fix.

yeah, it's a known issue:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=16873
sounds like 3.2 fixes it.
Thanks for that link.
I've switched to touchdown mail due to this issue and the fact that pictures did not display properly either. Was pretty embarrassed when i sent an email to my boss that had garbled letters.

[Q] "Show HTML images" button on emails!!!

I upgraded to the Rezound from a Thunderbolt and now I have to press a stupid "Show HTML images" button on all HTML formatted emails! I have a corporate Exchange account, and my Thunderbolt did not intrude on my email viewing with this irritating request for every blessed email, nor did my iPhone prior to the Thunderbolt.
What can be done to stop this bad behavior? Can Sense be modified either in the current 3.5, or can HTC fix this in the new 4.0 for ICS? Or, is there a root required mod to be made? It should have a global setting, just like MS Outlook offers, to either require acknowledgement for each HTML email, or not. To require it for each email even if the user does not want it is absurd.
They also broke the hardware back arrow functionality, so now when you are in any folder other than the Inbox and press the back arrow you are ejected from the program, instead of being returned to the Inbox, as it was in the Thunderbolt.
How can we ensure that these problems are fixed in the next version of Sense? Does HTC fix the problems which they create in new versions when they release the next edition, or do developers need to mod the program to fix HTC errors?
Go into your settings for the Exchange account. In the Send and Receive settings change the Include File Attachment to "Always".
See if that helps for new emails.

I tried most of the settings, and none seemed to stop the button from popping up on any HTML emails, even those which I have already viewed and clicked the button for!
I have not had this problem since I had the old Win Mobile HD2 from 2 years ago. I hate taking two steps forward and one back when upgrading to a new phone.
Seems like a software problem then. My phone doesn't behave that way. It automatically downloads images and HTML when opening.
Maybe something with the way the account is setup? Or the Mail app?

My Thunderbolt did not misbehave that way either, but my Rezound does, at least on MS Exchange email.
Are you using Exchange?
I am using an Exchange account. It's an Outlook Web Access setup.
I'm using NilsP's business rom, too.
I'm using enhanced email and no problems with any html emails.
Are either of you using the stock Sense email client to view your Exchange email?
Has anyone ever found the file which controls this behavior?
Does the need to continually press "show html images" in every HTML email continue in ICS? I must have pressed that stupid button a million times this year!
If this problem continues with ICS, has anyone ever discovered which file and location within the file controls this behavior?
I would love to not ever see that button appear at the top of my emails again!

[Q] Shostock2 and exchange help

Ok running Shostock2 3.0.5 and loving it.
Having one issue though. Everytime I try and send an e-mail via exchange I get an error message
Unable to sign or encrypt message. Certificate not installed.
Ok, I've tried both the security and non security exchange downloads.
Encrypt in the settings is always unchecked. Sign always defaults to checked but when I uncheck I can send e-mails out.
Not sure what I'm missing here so I'm asking for some guidance on fixing the only nuisance with this rom I'm experiencing.
Are you using the modified exchange apk from post 2 in the ROM thread?
yes i've tried installing both varieties with the same result.
Next question: What email are you using?
the built in e-mail for exchange. I'm not using any optional e-mail clients.
I started using enhanced email and I love it. It works with activesync without having to put in your passcode

I don't use email and exchange so I have no real insight but from what I was told by some users, when setting up the client... do what BROKKANIC said and turn off push and set it to manual during setup. I think once its working you can set it back to push. Not 100% sure though.
never had push enabled. As I said, it's a personal phone but use it to check work e-mails from time to time.
The push of e-mails I find annoying.
Also as stated it's not incoming i have the issues with, it's the outgoing.

Is there an option for SSL or something to that effect? I know with road runner email on my father inlaw's I had to set up 2 different servers for email to use since he uses it on wifi and on 3g data. Maybe you have to do the same.

yes there is. Been through all that for now. For now I've switched over AOKP to see if life is good and it works fine which I find strange.
Not sure what the magic number is to get everything to work but it does on one and not your rom.

Universal Stock Email issue with exchange account - reply removes quoted text

Hello,
I have owned multiple android phones across multiple versions up to and including jelly bean on my galaxy nexus. With my active sync exchange account, I have a problem replying to emails. The reply will go through, but even when I have "include quoted text" checked, it will still delete the trail and there will be no quoted text. It's rather frustrating since it creates confusion, especially if I need to add new recipients to the trail and they have no idea what's going on since the history is gone.
Has anyone run into this and know how to fix? Please note that this only occurs on my exchange account using the stock email app. If I use any other email protocol such as imap, there is no issue. Also note that I tested this exchange account with an iOS device and there is no issue either, so I don't feel like it is on the server side. Thanks.
