Hi there, just wondering my friend has brought a Galaxy S2, we brought ours from New Zealand, anyway friend is Japanese and he wants his phone in Japanese language(whole phone interface), when i goto "Settings -> Language & Keyboard -> "Select Language" there is no Japanese language in the selection, is there a way i can install a pack so it shows up in there, or flash the Hongkong firmware that may have the Japanese in the Select Language menu.
thanks
Languages are contained within something called a "CSC"..
Read up on those and find the correct one in the Development section.
(Cant guarantee you there is a japanese one, I would imagine there is though.)
get some multi csc from the forum here.
so, if i find the releavant CSC in the forum, do i use the dial pad method or just use ODIN to flash the CSC by itself
thanks.

This is the thread your looking for.
OMKF2 firmware supports English/Japanese/Korean language. DCM is the CSC I believe.
when i flash the CSC, i get a error, "cannot acesss vnz csc" when it boots up seems like my csc is locked to the carrier firmware im using. if i flash the OMKF2 that wont add to my binary counter and OMKF2 seems like its for the M202S.
this is the current firmware im running: PDA:XWKE7| PHONE:XXKE4| CSC:VNZKE2
anyone ???
I've read what have been said and went on the other thread where I saw written :
CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either.

mrvtec69 have you been able to find a solution ? As far as I am concerned I would just like a japanese keyboard with which I can write texts that can be read by the recipient.
So far, simeji and all the other downloaded keyboard allow me to write texts in japanese, but those texts appear as "???????" on the recipient's phone and I'm pretty sure that a "native" japanese keyboard would solve the problem.

As the title says, which Firmware/ROM and CSC supports Android in Japanese?
I'd like to have both English (UK) and Japanese as a language option.
My Nexus S supported both from the box.
Could someone tell me which CSC / Firmware support Japanese?

Thanks!
But where to get the firmware package?
And when I do, I can just flash the CSC over another Firmware?
Not available on the Kies/Cuf server yet.
That is unfortunate.
However, I presume that if I find a CSC that has DCM included, I could get proper Japanese support.
I will keep looking

im in the same boat, i flashed the DCM CSC but the language dosent fully change in the phone OS to japanese, if you see in the nexus S the menus etc are in japanese when you flash the dcm csc only part of of the os is in japanese
Bah, and here I hoped a DCM CSC would solve all
Then I guess I should search the net for a SC-02C Firmware with CSC and see what that does.
As there is no update available via KIES, I don't know where to look (yet) but if I find something I will update this thread.
Im looking for the same thing too, please update too if you found the way to change it to Japanese Thanks alot
So there's still no way to fix this?
I have a Galaxy S i9000 and no official firmware have real japanese support (you can install japanese keyboard and read japanese but not japanese menus). What I did was installing cyanogenmod that have full japanese support. It has some drawbacks as battery doesnt last as long as the stock firmware but I'm happy so far.
I need this too.. Comes in handy at times.
Hi all,
Just updated my stock phone to the new Villain Rom 2.3. All working nicely so far apart from I have no working predictive text. How can I enable this please?
Thank you.
Settings > Language & Keyboard > Samsung Keyboard > XT9
It is turned on but it does not work.
Probably because your language is not installed?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
i'm having the same problem
have enabled XT9
have selected my language as English (Australia)
and i have reflashed and re-installed the rom a 2nd time now
as prodygee says, the selected language probably is not installed.
Change the system language to other (system language not keyboard supported language)
I have the same issue with XXKG2, it was set to Spanish (United States) and predictive text didn't work, then I changed to Spanish (Spain) and the XT9 works!
is system language
settings > language and keyboard > select language ?
Try flashing the appropriate CSC for your region, read in another thread that it may help.

These are thank to intratech, see his thread in the dev section
thanks mrxd
whats the difference between the two? or better yet, which one should i use if my kernel version is 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKG6-CL425236
thanks
2.4.2 has auto completion working fine
Ok, so as I understand it, I need to install a CSC file in order to restore working predictive text.
I have Villain Rom 2.3.0 installed.
Android version: 2.3.4
Baseband version: I8199XXKG3
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7-I9100XXKG1-CL349526
I am in the UK on the Vodafone network, however the phone was bought brand new from Samsung with no carrier lock.
Which CSC do I need to use please? Thank you for your help.
Hi all,
I bought an unlocked S2 from HK. I'm in the UK.
Rooted it using CF-Root-SGS2_ZS_OZS_KG2-v4.1-CWM4.tar and S2 root, then went back to official firmware using GT-I9100_I9100ZSKG2_Kernel.tar to get rid of the warning triangle.
All was going great until I downloaded AntTek App Manager and obviously somehow froze something that was required because I then got into a boot loop. :-(
Fixed that by flashing with GT-I9100_TGY_I9100ZSKG2_I9100OZSKG2_I9100XXKG1.tar however now the predictive text for the samsung keyboard does not work (but it does for the swype one.)
Other threads suggest that maybe flashing with my local CSC would fix it (I was planning on opening up and using the correct files from GT-I9100_XEU_I9100XWKF3_I9100XXKE7_I9100XEUKD1.TAR)
However the thread where you find the roms states "CSC has nothing to do with what languages the firmware supports and it will not add keyboard language support either."
So now I am confused. Any ideas on how to restore predictive text for the samsung keyboard? (Or why it disappeared in the first place considering I think I used the same firmware it had originally.)
Could I just completely replace the firmware? So could I just flash the XEU KE7 firmware on my TGY KG2 phone. I wonder whether that would solve things?
Current system info:
Android version - 2.3.3
Baseband version - I9100XXKG1
Kernel version - 2.6.35.7-I1900ZSKG2-CL361136
Build number - GINGERBREAD.ZSKG2
Thanks for any clues.

I'm NEW here please help!!!
I had flash a few official ROM like UtimaRom ,Turkbey and Criskelo with the multi CSC selection option
But after selected the correct CSC "STH" it will make a factory data reset when i dial *#1234# it will still show the default CSC I9300OXFDLI1
Firstly you should search first before posting as it says in the Forum rules.
And secondly download this on your device and change your CSC through this. And yes it will do a factory reset on your device each and every time your change your CSC
Download Link https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manniakk.cscselector&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5tYW5uaWFray5jc2NzZWxlY3RvciJd

Hi guys.
I flashed a new ROM on my SIII, the stock Vodafone PT rom.
But in a certain moment, I have to change the CSC, and for that I need the app CSC Changer.
I installed CSC Changer, but in the app, it appears many CSC's, but not the one I want (TCL).
How can I sucessfully change my CSC to TCL?
It's the ROM's fault?
Sorry for my bad english.
Cheers

*#272*IMEI# (eg. *#272*16546845451#)
to see your IMEI see your settings or dial *#06#
NOTE: Changing your CSC will factory reset your device.
App from market doesn't include any CSC code. It's simply using Stock CSC changer called Preconfig.apk and your ROM must be MultiCSC in order to change it.
We have new ***Sticky - CSC Collection*** Check it out
Hi.
Using the *# code shows exactly the same CSC's.
I don't have my phone rooted, how can I do ?
Cheers.

To be clear, you want to change your CSC to TCL but you don't want to root your phone and your CSC is not included in ROM you're using at the moment? Correct? If so, you need to get yourself right ROM from www.samsung-updates.com or www.sammobile.com and flash it with Odin. Later on, you'll get OTA or Kies updates but only if there are any.
Yes, that's correct.
But I already downloaded two VodafonePT (TCL) roms, and there are no signs of TCL CSC..
Cheers.
Mate, I don't know what you want.. If you Must have CSC-TCL, then use Odin and install one of those Vodafone ROMs, that's it.
No other way to change CSC for you.
Installing right now,
Will update soon.
Hi everyone... I got a similiar problem with CSC and maybe someone can help me.
My original S3 is using I9300XXELLA_I9300VFGELL3_OMN fw... earlier i flashed it (after a hard reset) with the english fw, I9300XXEMB5_I9300OXAEMB5_BTU. Now kies says I have a KOR csc (shouldn't it be BTU?) and that i won't be able to upgrade the fw in the future.
But this isn't the problem, I can always update with Odin. Problem is that if i ever have to use warranty, i'll have to flash back the original firmware... and when i'll do so, will i get back the OMN csc or i'll still have it set to KOR?
Thanks in advance for your help.
All working.
Thanks :=)
can't change CSC
Hi guys,
I need some help here.
I'm trying to change my CSC to the correct one, because apparently my phone is not recognizing my zone (my clock is displaying the wrong time... is that a problem from CSC?).
I do the *#272*IMEI and nothing happens.. ideas?
cheers
