Hello everybody, I'm new to the SII scene, coming from an Acer Liquid background.
I'm having a little problem : i can't access «protected» apps on the market, like Riptide, Livelocker, ...
I don't really now how I'm supposed to unlock this without doing anything dirty.
I think it's not something that could be solved through market enabler, as friends with the same carrier as I don't face this problem.
Thank you for your help !!!
Tolki/Gary
So, I tried a few things, but can't manage to find a clean solution :/
Does anybody have any clue on the precise origine of this ?
go to market. settings. content filtering.show all apps. thats the only thing i can think of.

Apps will be filtered depending on your handset. Certain apps are for certain handsets only (E.g. Trackball alert for the Nexus one). You can't see games like Riptide as they're meant for tegra2 devices. The easiest way to view them is to download chainfire 3d and choose the 'Fix market' option, it'll then let you view all tegra2 based apps on the market.
Thank you for your help, but I still can't see LiveLocker... And I fail to understand why :/

I've looked around for some possible solutions to give the eris full market capabilities (regardless of compatibility) with no success. Is there any way to modify the build prop (or something else) to allow the market to think the eris is another phone which has unlimited access to the market? I have had no success with the Eris Market Fix App by the way.
Not sure if it helps but in another thread a while back I noticed tenzomonk posted this:
"as for the build.prop... you'd want to find the following line: "ro.build.fingerprint="
i've provided two (2) examples below... first being from an HTC Incredible running a 2.2 ROM... second being from a stock Eris (2.1 ROM).
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/231334:user/release-keys (Incredible)
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/htc_desirec/desirec/desirec:2.1/ERD79/185970:user/release-keys (Eris)"
I don't have the knowledge to help you trick the market into thinking you have a different phone, but why don't you just download the .apk files for the apps you want and sideload them? I guess that isn't a good idea for non-free apps but for free apps it works fine. That's what I did with angry birds before it was available for the Eris. Honestly though, if it doesn't show up on the market for the Eris it probably wont run well if at all. Developers don't want to limit the number of people that can download their app. They generally only do it if there are issues with their app on a particular phone.

Why not think of the big picture and "solve" the core problem ?
Sure, your suggestion will work until then, but do we do this forever ?

Personally, I believe the issue is with the Market itself, especially since Gingerbread was released. People on multiple phones and in turn, multiple ROMs, are having similar issues. This isn't unique to the Eris or any of the ROMs from here.

Yeah I guess you would have to sideload any apps you can't get on the market but I don't see the problem with doing that. The VAST majority of apps can be found in the market.

Been looking on other forums for this, but to no avail...

and honestly, I just forgot to write them down... I was going to sideload them if I had too, but I thought about Appbrain ( which works ).
I cleared the market cache in settings and rebooted, still didn't work. Any ideas?
I was about to start exactly the same thread. I can't install most of the popular apps on my Flyer. No Raging Thunder, no NFS Shift, no Dolphin Browser... It seems nothing is compatible with my device. Android web market says "This item is not compatible with your device HTC Flyer P512".
Anyone experiencing the same? I'm living in Turkey, is this happening because of a regional restriction?
I did a full wipe of the device and still noticed things missing afterwards in the market.
Appbrain (which is a great little app ) and Appbrain.com seem to have allowed me to get -most- of what I can't find in the market by searching. Wierd eh?
This is honestly not what I was expecting since I had the Xoom and wanted a smaller form factor to use daily.

Thought that Market Enabler would only work with cell connected devices? And since ours is wifi only, it sees our source IP and blocks it?
edit: nevermind I see you have a 3G Flyer
I run into this problem as well on mine, so I just download on my DInc2, use Astro to backup and push it to a folder on my dropbox, and load from there....have done quite a few apps that way.
Convoluted, but it works

Honestly, I am baffled the devs haven't rooted this yet. I didn't get the vibe that HTC products were difficult considering how fast root is achieved on HTC phones. Totally different I suppose?

So this is not a technical limitation but a regional one. But why? I can't see the reason.

Most of the unavailable software are listed in HTC Likes app, but when I try to install, it says "The requested item could not be found".
Same goes for me. I can find the apps I'm looking for (mainly Google Voice) in appbrain, but when I try to install, the item cannot be found in the market, like when I search for them there... Really doesn't make any sense (pun intended). I can't get HTC likes to work for some reason, either... Different thread for that, though...

Good news: some titles have started to appear on the market.
Anyone know if the Devs are working to get the new play.google app to our phones with or without custom roms?
Out phones are listed are supported however no update to my market app yet.
**Grip**
WTH would google switch to play.google.com and not stick with something a little less childish for those that are actually trying to get android in to the mainstream business enviroment. Basically i have to tell people to allow play.google.com through firewalls now instead of market.android.com sounds funny to me.

Hello, I'm thinking of buying a tablet off FocalPrice for $73 and there are two different models I'm thinking of;
B700 7" Android 4.1.1 or GD IPPO M7 7" Android 4.2.2
Now my questions are;
1) If I try the Google store to download apps and the tablet is not compatable, can you please post the link I need to Root it?
2) Do I need to Root it to allow me to download and install apps on my own?
Thank you

1) If the tablet is not compatible with an App, you can download the.apk file from any other source and run it to the point that your device is capable of doing so. For instance, Play Store displayed Whatsapp as incompatible on a Samsung Galaxy Star. I downloaded the .apk from the Whatsapp website and installed it and its working fine.
2) No, you dont need to root to install apps of your own, you just need to enable installing .apk's other than those from play store from the Android Settings. However, there are some apps that will require Root to function, but these apps are usually advanced functions.

You only need to download the apk file, copy to your device (internal or external memory, it doesn't mater) and install it using any file explorer (surely your device will come with a file explorer preinstalled). That's it.
The best deivce you have listed from them is the 2nd one due to the fact that it is running the latest version of android. You don't need root to install most apps and games but you might sometimes come across apps that need root to do specific tasks.
Thanks guys.
I did order the GD IPPO M7 7" Android 4.2.2, got it yesterday and is Google Play compatible
Now maybe I should open a new thread but had a question about 3DVplayer.
My tablet says it supports screen scale adjustment between 4:3 & 16:9 and 2D & 3D but when I play a 3D movie I just get the two screens side by side. Is there a trick in getting 3D to work properly?
Thanks
I have the same exact tablet. All was working fine until today, when the word "DEMO" appeared in bright red in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. Went into recovery mode and did a factory reset, but it is still there. Anyone know how to get rid of it?

I don't know about yours but I also bought a Chinese tablet. The specs stated that Bluetooth N/A and there were no Bluetooth settings in the settings but I downloaded a Bluetooth File Transfer software from Play and was shocked to find out that my tab actually had Bluetooth! I could transfer files but haven't checked a headset. I can turn it on from any Bluetooth switch widget

I am not specifically familiar with the app/game/program that you are referring to, so if what I am about to suggest turns out to be complete rubbish, please feel free to ignore it completely. Here goes anyway, just in case it might turn out to somehow be useful !!
I sideloaded Better Terminal Emulator (a GREAT app & also one of my most favorite root-aware apps !!). Whenever I would start it up, it would run just fine, as long as I did *not* attempt to open the KFHDX keyboard. As soon as the built-in keyboard was activated, BTE would immediately crash & close. As you might guess, any terminal emulator program is basically worthless without keyboard input !! However (so this is where you might want to try the same thing, if "keyboard" applies in your specific case), when I use an external BT keyboard, BTE continues to run as great as it always has . . . problem averted !! [ now if I could just get my root access back with the latest formware ]
HTH !!
Good luck & have fun !!

With stock AMZ FW, you can also run into issues with some apps that use any DL service other than AMZ. Which is why many paid Play Store apps will force close, like GTA SA, which will fail to open or crash unless you use the KF version.
