How do you boot the EVO 3D into recovery? I tried the method used for the EVO 4G with no luck. I also can't find the answer anywhere.
Does fast boot have to be turned off to do this?

Setings/power/fastboot. Uncheck fastboot then it will work.

You can also simply pick Reboot off of the power menu and as soon as the bottom leds turn off, hold the volume down rocker.
If your phone starts vibrating like crazy then you held volume down too soon, but it will still go.
But yea, this is an side effect of fast boot, because the phone is doing a warm boot not a cold boot. Or of course you can pull the battery, but that can be a pain.
I got it booted into recovery and now it's stuck on a screen with a phone and a red triangle exclamation!
Crap, still stuck on this screen.... HELP

I'm not getting a recovery menu.... I haven't done anything to my file system. How can this be?!!?
Because you don't have a custom recovery, because the phone is not rooted

OK, now I feel like a noob. I rooted my HTC EVO 4G the first day I got it, so I guess I was spoiled and I assumed backup/restore was built into the phone already.
So the red triangle upon recovery boot is normal?

Yes, its normal. If you were to return your evo 4g to complete stock, and tried to boot into recovery, you'd end up with the same result

So i dropped my phone today and its getting stuck on a boot loop of the HTC screen. I can still access recovery and stuff but it literally won't boot up into android.
Any ideas?
That's odd..try flashing a new rom or making a backup then wipe/restore maybe

So do I, 3 months ago, don't know how to fix the boot loop with HTC screen...
Can you connect to pc and load an ruu?
If Recovery, Then..
SO if you can get into the recovery, have you tried to wipe or do a full reset? Or even loading another ROM that you may have loaded on your SD? If no ROM, get one on that SD and give it a shot, I would have to say that anything lost is replaceable and better than no phone at all... (most important stuff is stored on SD in my world, aside from SMS)
If you are boot looping then your phone is OK, it is not bricked. You simply need a software fix. An RUU should do the trick.
Hey so I tried wiping flashing ... I got it to boot once and once the battery died it would no longer boot past the HTC screen. Also it wouldn't loop fully. It would load the splash HTC screen and then turn off again. I ended up filing a claim and am on the new phone.. sigh hboot 1.5 ...

If the phone turns on it isn't bricked. No need to replace it.

Agreed, you don't lose/corrupt data by dropping a phone. You can crack solder joins and other parts though.

Swyped from mah 3vo!
I was running mlk's ics release on my evo 3d. I had hboot 1.40 and s-off. I had no problems flashing the rom and I was using it with no problems.I have been using it since it was released. No issues. Yesterday, I just went to reboot the system through the advance power menu. The phone went dead immediately, mind you my phone is fully charged. I tried going into recovery using the usual vol down + power, phone doesnt respond. I plug in the usb cable and tried it again, no luck. So I tried pressing all the buttons (power, vol up, vol down and camera button) the phone flashes the htc screen then shuts off. That is the only response I get. When I use adb devices it lists this:
"HT16FHX07713 recovery"
I can get the phone to do the same thing as mentioned above when i do "adb reboot recovery", it just flashes the htc screen for less than a second then goes off while still showing that it is charging.
Can anyone shed some light on what I can do to fix this? If you need any info, let me know and I'll try to provide what I can. Thanks
I see that you tried adb reboot recovery but have you tried adb reboot bootloader?
Thanks, that was the only thing I didnt try. Tried it just now and the bootloader just loaded up. What should I do now? I'm kind of rusty and that its been awhile since I flashed/rooted an android phone.

Sorry for the late reply, got busy. I'm sure you've figured it out by now. If it were me, I'd just flash a pg86img of 4ext (let me know if you need it) and then flash a rom.
Yes please. I do need that. Thanks

Once again, sorry for coming back late, the wife and I are camping
Here ya go man, just change the name to PG86IMG.zip and when you boot into the system don't forget to rename it again.

Thanks. I added it to my dropbox. I'm heading out of state and I'm returning tomorrow. I'll try it out then. I might have to get a new battery for it. Doesn't seem to be charging unless it takes two days...

No problem. Mine charges pretty slow also, but not 2 days.
Looks like the charging light is blinking since yesterday when charging...

I've searched.
My note was running flapjaxx b5(lf6) with teamwin recovery 2.2.2.
Yesterday my phone just rebooted..after that my phone will not enter recovery...I get a pulsating vibrate when trying to enter... Black screen ...Now I can get to download mode but literally for only a few seconds...with or without jig...screen goes black then pulsating vibrate
Is there anything else that can be done

I have two evos and the other got stuck at the HTC boot screen where it says quietly brilliant. I didn't notice it was stuck since I had walked away and it overheated severely. I held the power to turn it off but from that point on I couldn't turn it on at all.
Any suggestions? Is it a lost cause?

Try plugging it in and letting it sit a while, let it cool down first, maybe the battery needs to recover, heat can damage the battery

what om4 said, it might just have been a heat issue...the same thing happens if your computer over heats, it will reboot/shutdown on its own to cool itself down
Thanks for your responses guys.... Unfortunately it still won't turn on, the charging light won't come on either after trying different chargers.
Is there a way to turn on the phone through ADB? I have never tried it but does anyone know if it's possible?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Nope
Isn't it possible to boot thru fastboot using 'fastboot reboot system' ? Provided you can get into your hboot.
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
If they said they could get to hboot but if you can't boot normally then you can't fastboot a reboot either
How would I get into hboot? When I plug it into my computer its still make noises and showing up not as the flash memory but something else

To get into hboot, power off, then hold volume down while pressing the power button. Then use volume to choose and power to select.

Yeah, if you plug in your phone to a computer (Linux is a bit better for this) do you get a new device discovery in Windows? Do you have some COM devices or Modems in your Device Manager in Windows?
You might be in the emergency download mode. There can be hope.

Im kind of noob at these things, So i need a bit of a walk through if one does come up with a solution.
I have a tmobile HTC Amaze 4G I bought used. And it has a problem restoring... It wont restore at all. It says, the PH85IMG is missing/ Cant open cache/recovery/command. When i try factory restoring, after it starts, It shows an andriod device on the screen with a red triangle and exclamation point in the middle. And another thing.. The phone reboots ALOT . and after it reboots, Everything i downloaded or did to the phone disapears, Like it didnt happened. And the language changes back to how he had it, And his contacts come back and everything,
What should i do?

When you get to the screen with the red triangle and exclamation point, try holding down the volume up+power button at the same time and see if anything happens
