Hey guys,
I have the ED04 update and I'm rooted. I am trying to backup using CWM 3.0.2.8 but it keeps throwing me an error about the image. Any ideas on how I can do a backup before I start switching ROM?
Try going into mounts and storage and unmounting and remounting each one

Tried that...thanks for the try...but it still has Error while backing up boot image.

cache isnt mounted
reformat the sd card and try again or reread my last post and try that. mtd roms can be a pain to flash on some fascinates. also you can try by odining a different stock package such as ed05,eb01,dl01...etc
Still getting the same message. Can't mount cache and does like 5 lines of error messages for it. I have followed the steps to a t. Also formated my sd card. But I was able to loads gapps through cm7 on rom manager.

Hello guys,
the site has been very helpful to me thus thank you all who contribute..
I had rooted my phone with CF-Root-SGS3-v6.4 and everything was ok. (Supersu, CWM) After that i have updated offical JB via kies and rooted the phone again in order to have CWM and supersu again. There was no problem with the the second root but when i enter the CWM it says;
"this version of CWM Manager should be used with CF-CWM V1.1 or newer. It appears you are running a different recovery. Variosuy feature have been disabled." I have flashed a newer version of CWM but the result was the same.
The backup menu that i had after first root was disapperared. When i tried to get backup via recovery mode is says "cant mount backup path" and i can not get backup...any help would be appreciated.
cwm app is not compatible with jb, boot into recovery with 3 button combo and all is normal
Thanks but when i boot into recovery mod and try to get backup, it says "cant mount backup path" is this because of no external sd card is installed ?

not sure to be honest,I use an older version so can't really say, but mine works fine
Anyone can help?

You are getting the error because you don't have an external sd card. Try using the "backup to internal sd card". That should help you I think.
Hello guys, this is my first post here so don't be tough with me
First of all some info:
Model:Galaxy SIII GT-I9300
ROM: Android Revolution HD 15.2
Kernel: Perseus 26.1
CWM: 6.0.1.2
I recently updated normally into ARHD 15.2 and everything was normal. But after I booted up into recovery mode I noticed that those lines were on the screen:
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/last_log
I searched and read many threads in order to find the best and the most suitable solution but I couldn't find anything helpful. The main problem in almost every thread was that the phone had a bootloop.Fortunately, I don't have that problem. My phone boots normally.I also tried to wipe cache partition and dalvik cache in order to find any more errors but nothing appeared and my phone booted normally updating android apps.I found the thread below but I don't know if I have to do all this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10878511&postcount=8311
So any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried flashing cwm yourself with Odin? I know it probably comes with your ROM, but try flashing the latest cwm (same version you have, i'm sure) with odin
Let me know if that does anything.
Thanks for the reply mate
Last night I unmounted and mounted ext sd card again from inside the phone..Then I booted into recovery and everything was back to normal.I dont know what caused the problem though.

Lol that's weird.. Well at least your phone works now! What kind of micro sd u have? If it's the 64gb exfat, I know Cwm doesn't respond to that at all
I am using the same rom and had the same problem . It happened to me after i deleted the recovery log file on the external sd card

Hi
I'm facing the same issue: Can't open /cache/recovery...
I already tried flashing CWM Recovery(lastest version) using Heimdall(1.3.1, 1.3.2 and 1.4RC1) and didn't work.
When using the CMW that I aready have installed, if I try to install a CM10.1 it show me up as installed, but when booting I got the previous ROM screen and freeze screen of death.
Ideas?
On the cache problem, try the solution that worked for the OP, unmount the SD card and boot again.
On the ROM issue do a full wipe and flash a stock ROM via ODIN to get you back to a good starting point.
As with every situation, backup your efs partition first.
I am on task650's latest 4.2 ROM. When I tried to do a backup it ended with not finding sd-ext and error while generating md5 sum. The back ups are made but will not restore. I have reinstalled, restored to 4.1 and reinstalled, and full wipe and still no luck. I can find no info on hope to fix this. Can CWM be reinstalled? I thought it was in kernel. Could it be that cwm 6.0.2.7 is having an issue? Other wise the ROM itself runs fine.

Do you have enough space? Also ext sd always does that to you
Sent from my GS4 running CM11 Kandy Kane
Yes plenty of space many GB worth. I don't think the Sd-ext is causing the other issue.

Sorry meant it happens to me. Do you have 2 gb+?

I am reading that advanced restore may work. When i get home from work ill try that.

There was a version of CWM recovery that kept doing this to me too. Assuming you have adb set up, here's what you do:
(in recovery)
adb shell
cd to backup directory (ex. /storage/sdcard1/clockworkmod/backup/2013-01-13.18.05.19)
md5sum *img > nandroid.md5
Then, reboot recovery and it should work.
well I have tried advanced restore, full wipe, reinstall of rom, formatted external sd card. still no luck. I thought of reinstalling cwm 6.0.2.7 but can find apk or how to do it. I also have thought about formatting internal sd card but am not sure I know the steps or what to do if there is an error.
Stone_ship, I do not have adb set up but am sure I could get it. Will that fix just that one back up or will it fis all back ups going further?

It would just be for the one backup. Set up adb. It wil save your butt at least a few times if you are doing stuff on XDA.
