Hey sorry for off-topic. Can we flash a kernel... say fanco's after updating to v20G?
EDIT: Just received a pathetic answer from LG - "Va rugam sa luati legatura cu service-ul autorizat pentru mai multe informatii:
Electronics Support Division". Translation: Please contact the service for more information. Obviously an automatic answer.

Do not apologize for OT - simply do not post one.
(Yes you can if you do not need GSM. )

I had flashed franco kernel on ginger lol. Gsm was working fine. But system began laggier and no 3d.
Just wait for things to evolve. It's just the current franco kernel is not made for original gb. Unless the kernel sources are released, developers can't finetune it for gb.

No, you cannot do it, because it's stock rom and kernel officially from LG, as LG doesn't support rooting and customization , just wait patiently for the official release and available custom ROM from XDA with new kernel source from LG

date?
is there a tentative date?

not yet. LG didn't release sources yet.

[Q] Can I run the AOSP rom in XS ?

(Sorry, i'am bad in english)
Hello,
I download the rom AOSP (android-4.0.4_r2.1),
I followed this tutorial : http://source.android.com/source/downloading.html
Can I run this rom in my Xperia S because this rom is not the stock rom ?
Thanks
Refer to http://source.android.com/source/building-devices.html
The supported devices with the current release are the Galaxy Nexus, Motorola Xoom, Nexus S and Nexus S 4G.

Therefore, the answer is "no" except you are able to modify code to make it compatible with XS.
Ok thanks,
but where is the xperia s ics source code ?
I find the kernel code but i want the rom source code.
thanks again
This is very urgent please, where I can found the ICS xperia S sources ?
I don't think that Sony also releases their ICS firmware source code. AOSP source which is possible for XS is from FreeXperia team but they haven't public it yet until it is stable.
In addition, I don't know when they will release their source and please don't ask them because of the ETA rule.
PS. Anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

He's talking about the device tree and not only the kernel.
@OP: wait until team FXP release the sources, then someone will make an AOSP ROM for the S.
Thank you
So, I wait the FXP release

ok you say i can use this cm10 version?
is there something important that i must look for?
All CM roms apart from thoes built by the guy that started cyanogenmod. Start as unofficial ones. Once a dev shows the rom works correctly, he can submit his source to the cyanogen repo. Thats when you get nightlys.

i really don't understand people's needs to get "official" CM status...it's not any better...if you want it official, then your welcome to make it "official"
ok and i think when its still not official there are a few bugs. how can i update the system then? i dont like to do all time a total update witch delet all my apps and other dates. is there a simpley way?
sry for all the stupid questions but i am total noob in android haha
i had 4 years long a iphone and now i have android ^^

Will this affect us ??

I just saw this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41115145
Will this affect us who love the JB ROMs as there is no Kernel Source for JB yet from hTC
It will affect us if we post JB ROMs which are not based on stock kernel without releasing the source code. So I think we should show up in the thread there and start gathering devices which face the same or a similar problem, so we can form a greater community against those manufacturers.
Yes it will affect, basically according to it your JB ROM is against rules
Sent from my HTC Explorer A310e using xda app-developers app
What I understand is, if using the stock boot.img and there is no source code for it, we have to remove the boot.img from the ROM as every users supposed to have the stock boot.img in their device.
I have no problem to remove the boot.img but the problem is we have many noobs which are not so sure with all the workaround and how to get things done

I still can post the ROM but without the boot.img... so the ICS hboot users will have a hard time

:good::goodont worry, you can unpack the stock boot.img. Just make some harmless changes in ramdisk and repack it. Then share the modified ramdisk on github along with zImage.
PM me if you need help on this.
Regards
Yasir
P.S. I know its a workaround, so some xda recognized dev is welcome to correct me if what i said above is wrong.:good::good:
I found This:
zelendel says:
"This is not so. The kernel source HAS to be made available. If the OEM doesnt provide the kernel source then no rom for that device will be allowed. OEMs post the source code for their kernels. Well most do anyway, the ones that dont are in violation of the GPL laws.
What ever kernel is in the rom that is posted must have available kernel source. If roms are using the stock kernel and no sources are available then it will be removed. If it is using a custom kernel based on the clone source and a link to the source can be provided then that is fine. But the source MUST match the kernel in the rom."
So i guess, custom JB Rom by you is in danger of removal.

It is ok if I remove the kernel.
It just that I don't have much time to redo the ROM.
I'll try to find time to make init.d support without ramdisk mod and post updated ROM.
If I don't have enough time, I can only upload a new ROM after I come back from vacation in mid June

Could it be possible just to use kernel from kernel.org, config from ICS HTC and adjusting this config a bit so that it works or is the kernel from android too much different from the linux kernel?
So i unnecessarily try to use prebuilt 3.4 kernel for cm10.1 because if it will working, i won't be able to share it -.-

Your hard work is nonetheless appreciated, thank you for that and also your efforts towards organising the petition etc.
Ok, but if I'm not mistaken, as soon as HTC releases JB's kernel sources every ROM based on it will be "legal" or according to xda rules and not been removed right?
May be they're waiting for every country to get JB by OTA to release them (I believe only India doesn't have received it yet if I'm not mistaken).
By the way @atis112, did you get any answer from GPL?
Have you all a great day

[Q] MIUI?

Hi guys.
I am going to get a Canvas HD soon. I want to know that there was MIUI Rom for the device. What happened to it? Why the development was stopped? Violation of GPL? How does it relate?

The GPL requires that whenever a linux kernel is distributed that the kernel sources are also made available. If the OEM for a device never releases the kernel sources, then it means that the stock kernel can not be distributed on xda. The ROMs should be fine as long as there is no boot.img inside the flashable zip. So all the custom ROMs will either have to have custom kernels or be compatible with the stock kernel found on everyone's device.
Miui 5 stable will be rereleased soon
I request moderators to move miui 5 locked thread to A116 forums

AOSB 1.3.7[unoficial]

Hi, I ported AOSB 1.3.7 but I can't Make a new Thread in Dev projects, because XDA thinks that I'm a noob
IF someone can Put it on AOSB thread I'll be very pleased.
I have a link of the rom, so if anyone want to try it I'll send u.
Regards
Sorry for my little English
This isn't a port
I want to say something about the rom, this rom is not a Port, this ROM is a Build from source, and I will update the rom when AOSB release another version like 1.3.8 or something like that.
Aosb new build?
Maybe in this week I'll build a new ROM(only for kernel update purpose)
