CDMA PATCH found in Post 2Background
Hi I have been flashing my phone lots and before nandroid arrived it was a pain to flash stock, root it, remove all the bloat, theme etc etc so I created a system.img that has stuff how I like it. I am not a developer but a tinkerer and am sharing this in good faith that some people will find it useful.

thanks,
this is where it all starts, ppl modding and customizing there roms
this is what make this community great
thanks, any screen?
What is the purpose of these things?
Code:
Cifs/Tun modules (invoke using insmod)
Modified to allow insecure adb with stock kernel
CIFS modules are meant for shared folder support in Windows.
TUN modules are meant for VPN support
Insecure ADB is basically ADB where you have root rights by default. It's mainly thought for development purposes.

NVM, I got them, thanks anyways.
Quick Q, I have made a theme, how do I turn it into an IMG, or how do I install it? Sorry for the n00b q's, new to android!
install a theme from UOT using clockwork .
As for this IMG, ive removed most of the theme just to have a sense bar/icons. Will work on a custom theme later.
I will have time tonight to package this all up into a zip file to flash from clockwork. I am also going to try package the kernel into the zip.
I've just installed Blagus' kernel on this system image. All is well so far
because I am struggling getting the .zip working in clockwork V0.02 will be a system.img again, because I am much happier with the appearance and it has a few more things tweaked on it I want it out there now, not the current one.
After V0.02 there will be no more updates as system.img
Hmm, not sure what I'm doing wrong. Fastboot works, I've flashed a few roms and recovery works but I keep getting the same error with 'fastboot flash system.img'
unknown partition 'system.img'
error: cannot determine image filename for 'system.img'
I downloaded and extracted system.img from the .rar to same directory as fastboot.exe, as with all the others roms/recovery tool.
EDIT: May have found my answer. Is it necessary to wipe the existing system via fastboot (fastboot erase system) before flashing this system image?

Image Format
This is the original secure signed zip from HTC. It contains all of the images for the various partitions on the device, which can be flashed via fastboot. To flash, extract the command 'fastboot flash partition imagename'. For example, to flash the boot image, use 'fastboot flash boot boot.img' and to flash the system partition use 'fastboot flash system system.img'. If you do not have a copy of fastboot, you can grab it here.
Use this download if you want to return your phone to completely, original, stock state.

The online kitchen below allows you to create a custom update ZIP with the components you require. The image is still stock, you just have the option of leaving out the bits you don't want. For expert users, the option to include either an insecure boot image or the superboot root boot image (with or without himem) is included. The radio image can also be included.
Enjoy!

Finally a kitchen for android, online non the less. About time in all honesty, I wonder why it took a year. Maybe some future options would be to choose which partition the applications go to? Also an upload option for our own software would be handy with options of partitions of course.
This is the same ROM all nexuses is shipped with?

Holy ****! When did we get an online kitchen?!?!?! I've never seen this before for any phone I've ever owned! Now I know the awe that my parents must have felt when they first saw the internet!
Haha, my new baby... there's some awesome new stuff coming to the online kitchen too.
Imagine having a 'Kitchen' app on your device where you pick the bits you want (in a native UI) and it downloads the update.zip ready for you to flash.
It's coming.

Assuming you are on a custom ROM, do a Wipe and Dalvik's cache wipe before flashing it.
After flashing this - do another Wipe and your good to go
03/Feb ERE27 - New update rooted and unrooted, optional radio, optional himem
Well here it is people, Google's ERE27 update, repacked by yours truly to apply just how you like.
If you are on a completely stock device
1. Google's own update
If you are on a completely stock device (including stock recovery image), you can use the official update. Just download it, put it on the SD card named update.zip, launch recovery (power on with volume down held), press power and volume up when the warning triangle icon appears then select 'apply update.zip'. Sorted.
If you are on a non-stock device
Simply work through the steps below. Steps 1 and 2 are highly recommended. Use step 3 OR 4 OR 5 as desired. Step 6 just makes it all super easy.
1. The main update itself
I've downloaded the main update and repurposed it to a conventional update zip, to apply via the modified recovery. This is non wipe, and can be flashed over the top of just about anything. It is completely stock, secure and unrooted... see below for more on that.
2. The radio update
The update includes a new Radio ROM, which I have packaged seperately, again as an update zip. It carries version number 32.24.00.22U_4.03.00.21_2.
3. Insecure boot image
If you don't want to have full root but you'd like ADB remount permissions, you need to flash an insecure boot image. Because i'm nice, I made one for you. Simply download it, put your device in bootloader and run 'fastboot flash boot boot.ERE27.insecure.img'.
4. Superboot boot image.
You don't just want insecure boot, you want root (su and superuser)? I don't blame you... and again, because i'm nice, i've made you a superboot. Simply download it, put your device in bootloader and run 'fastboot flash boot boot.ERE27.superboot.img'.
5. Superboot boot image with himem.
If you'd like to make use of the full RAM on your device, you can use the Superboot himem boot image. It includes everything in the superboot image above, plus an updated kernel and wireless driver. Simply download it, put your device in bootloader and run 'fastboot flash boot boot.ERE27.superboot.himem.img'.
6. Another way - the MoDaCo Online Kitchen.
The online kitchenallows you to create a custom update ZIP with the components you require. The image is still stock, you just have the option of leaving out the bits you don't want. For expert users, the option to include either an insecure boot image or the superboot root boot image is included. The radio image can also be included.

Yes everything works. I will edit the first post to reflect that. The only known bug I have found is the Contacts screen always defaults to the initial screen for importing contacts so I just replaced that shortcut from the dock and go to contacts from the phone shortcut.

Thanks 007. I've spent all morning messing with the feature, and it looks like it isn't running any of the startup scripts in the /etc/init.d folder. It certainly isn't running the mount scripts. I await your wizardry with baited breath.

The black background with white text is what I'm used to, but the blue sounds interesting. Any way you could upload a .zip for each one. By .zip you mean a small .zip to flash through CWM, right?

I remember seeing in DoomLord's thread where he made changes in the kernel for
4.0.A.2.368 that gave better init.d support.
NM, had the wrong CDMA mode selected.
Is there a safe to remove apps list? Seeing the chinesetextinput.apk at 8MB is disturbing to me. Haha.
After playing with this for a while I think the only other bug would be the incoming call slider being cut off for some reason. Other than that this ROM runs great and everything works.
Do u need an unlock bootloader to flash this?

The .368 kernel didnt work with this firmware, I tried it and did not have camera. The v3 .145 kernel posted here seems to have something different to it because no matter where I put busybox or how I edit scripts the dalvik2cache mod never works. Ive tried using both the dalvik hack zip and Dooms dalvik mod zip and neither work. Same results with the .145 kernel on stock verizon firmware.
I also tried running the insecure adb .apk even though the kernel is already insecure, still no luck. No support on the problem from doom either.
I flashed back to stock kernel and the dalvik mod works fine with this firmware so its def. the kernel. Just cant seem to figure it out!
Does the manual process through ADB not work with v3 either? Would rather be sitting at 140MB free instead of 71MB. Haha.
Also is there any way to get Wireless Tether for Root Users to work? I tried setting to Nexus One, and it keeps popping up that hotspot is active, and won't allow anything to connect.

I actually had the built in wireless tether work for me without using an app or sending me to the verizon page.
Try the new alternate kernel I posted for the init.d script problems and let me know if it works.
I'll have to test after work. I'll let you know how it goes.
Also, separate question: Doomkernel v3 is supposed to have a whole host of cpu governors, but my setcpu only shows conservative, ondemand, userspace, powersave, and performance. No Smartass, interactive, or any of the other frills that are supposedly in his v3 kernel. Do you guys have the missing governors, and am I just stupid or something?
I will test it out. Just to be sure, this is a test to get the dalvik hack working, or are any other tweaks involved?
Also how do I get into CWM with this kernel? I can't seem to get in there either through hitting the back button, volume rocker while booting. I also can't seem to get into it by rebooting into it through Rom Toolbox, I ended up having to boot off recoveryplay.img.
I have 197MB free up from 57!
You have to spam the back button to get into recovery while it boots. I start spamming as soon as "sony ericcson" shows on screen. If you wait until you get the SE animated boot logo, you're too late.
I have finally put together a ROM for us Locked Bootloader users. I used Hogwarts COLA ROM as a base for this ROM. This is my first attempt with creating ROMS. So please bear with me if you find bugs, and let me know, so i can fix them. Thanks guys, and enjoy!
**WARNING - This has only been tested on LOCKED BOOTLOADER R800X!! Install at YOUR own risk!**

Special Thanks:
- Hogwarts, for taking the time to teach and mentor me on building a ROM. His COLA ROM can be found HERE
Nice man! My only suggestion would be to offer a CWR ZIP to change the font to something more readable.

Update.
Ok, Got the "Activity Market (in app market)not responding.
Force close or wait" a few times when first
starting it, but then seemed to striaghten up after I just waited a couple mins.
Other than that, so far all is working. Talk,Wifi,Bluetooth,GPS,, All Good.
Nice Job my man.
OK awesome. I think it has to sync all your Google info first. Other than that how you like it?

Well with a locked boot loader any "custom" ROM are all going to be about the same. Since we cant overclock, or upgrade past 2.3.3 yet. They are all just tweaked a little differently, like my ROM in comparison to COLA, has only a few minor differences... IT-ROM has the camera mod built in, has toggles built in to the theme, carrier name removed, and a few other cosmetic changes.... the next update will have tweaks built into the build.prop, adds a green dialer theme, and replaces font with stock font. This is my first attempt at playing with roms. It was more of a learning tool for me to get the basics down for removing system app, replacing system app, and what not.

Well you think that but it wont work
Cola has to have /data/ to work
I'm the one who design it so trust me I know.
Once you loose data the rom is broken.

Hey thats awesome info! I was wanting to do something like that but wasnt sure how to make a update.zip, and really didnt want peope to have to reflash the entire ROM again, i know how frustrating it is to have to re-do all your desktops, and widgets, and re-enter al your accounts and sync info.
Would you mind PM'ing me, or post it here, on how to make the symlinks, i am 100% unfamiliar with doing that. (im still learning all of this) Even if it doesnt work with the COLA based ROM, i'd stil like to learn this for future projects, and well, just cause its something I dont know how to do, and I ike to learn.

I know a little bit too, don't worry. You need to keep the Setup Wizard APK which, if absent, breaks the Home button in case of a data wipe. Plus, even if you put a /data folder, it can be empty.
XIT, I think the best that you can do for the symlinks is to grab another ROM (from the Play if possible), unzip it and check its symlinks. I'm not too sure of what symlinks your ROM needs. You can see the symlinks in the update script file in the Meta-Inf folder.

wont work.
locked bootloader cant flash a whole filesystem and datasystem
thats why UK rom has to be flashed as nandroid
1-2 files with the wifimodules work because your just pushing something
but when you try to
format /system
push /system
format /data
push /data
it basicly is going to wipe out CWM recovery in the process because if ur aware the CWM resides in system folder
so yes it wont work for locked bootloader
also I wouldn't keep setup wizard because it is a costly file to keep when it's never needed
the cost is about 1.2 mb not including data if i remember correctly.
so its gone.
when you use nandroid backup you dont need it anyway
I think you're right, I forgot about where the cwm was.

ya i know because i've tried it myself
i created update .zip and the CWM would always return error
i could never get it to work as many times as i tried
I like it, very nice. Plenty of space, apps and drawer loads faster. I implamented the "adb shell, pm setInstallLocation 2, exit". That way I can choose pretty much any app to be moved to sd or installed to sd. Stable rom so far today, no issues.

Nice tool
Just one comment regarding all AOSP based roms
from Lloir and myself which use the BLADE kernel
You dont need to do this for those roms!
The rom is taking care that the kernel modules are
in the correct location if required using an init.d script
But it will do no harm cause we are "smart" enough do detect it

cool, im guessing you're speaking of modules injector??
i was wondering why we aren't using something like that on the HOX,
im guessing you either have a bigger boot partition or that module's sizes are really small?
worst come to worst... this still have a logging feature which will come in handy...
and for the record, ill update and make it more usable

The modules are included in the boot image in /lib/modules
and synced with /system/lib/modules on boot if required
Using xz compression for the kernel makes it small enough
So e.g. BLADE kernel has about 4.4mb including everything

Help! I'm getting "Invalid Modules" when trying to flash kernel. This is what I did: unzipped boot.img and modules folder from elemental kernel, put those them in the respective folders under one x one click folder, ran the one click exe as administrator (win7), chose the kernel img and modules zip, it seems to run for a second and then the invalid modules and operation terminated. Obviously I'm not doing it correctly with the modules zip process.

About the rom:
Rom is the same rom like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912865 with added new feature. New feature is native LBE Security from latest and final MIUI rom version 3.2.22 which mean framework in rom is modified and enabled these MIUI security feature. What is LBE Security? Its extra good feature which giving you perfect control for aplications like: permision manager and aplication startups. Rom is complete which mean all feature is integrated like here -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912865
Some aps is moved from system folder to the other place so you have full control to them!
How to install:
Reguirements:
- recovery installed (mine is not reguired, so all recovery is suported)
- unlocked bootloader
Simple place rom to the sdcard, reboot to recovery and install rom using menu "install zip from sdcard. All your personal data will be deleted, so make sure make backup of your private data before you going to install this rom!
Allso read next important instructions on seccond post!
Warning:
Do not install SuperSu or Superuser or any other root tool because this rom is designed to work with LBE and will cause a lot of bugs to the aplications and cause system unstability! Allso do not touch su binary, this su binary is designed to work only with LBE ! After initial boot, setup initiall settings, than wait 5 minutes until all aps is installed, than reboot. After boot go to LBE Security and App Control and setup it for your needs!
Do not install memory tweak because these ramdisk will break compatibility with this rom! All tweaks and OC is integrated in this rom!
Do not install other kernels, you will broke compatibility because ramdisk is diferent in curent kernel!
Do not report bugs if you modified curent rom, or you have installed something from another rom!!!
Mising thing, but for sure I will try to integrate, is MIUI Anti Spam apk (application for blocking calls and messages)! Need to patch them.
Enjoy this rom! :cyclops:
Kernel:

Instructions
My opinions after trying many roms is stripped version of this rom. Stripped mean - delete all apk which you see on LBE security! Rom is stable, smooth, fast, no bugs, ...etc. But you need to install them propertly.
Some steps to get rom right installed and configured:
1. unlock bootloader
1,5. make sure you updated your phone from Gingerbread to the oficial Sony ICS rom!!!
If you have 1. and 1,5. done than proced to next steps:
2. extract boot.img from zip and flash them using fastboot
3. reboot to recovery and wipe data factory reset, than wipe system partition
4. install zip using recovery menu "install zip from sdcard"
5. do not restore backups
6. do not install any other busybox (its allready in rom)
7. do not install su and superuser apks (rom have root tools and apks allready - mean integrated LBE security feature)
8. after first boot, configure phone (mean date and time, mobile networks, accounts...etc)
Very important steps:
9. open LBE Guard and under menu enable root permissions
10. reboot phone
11. on next boot you will see popup message "enable root acces for LBE...", select check box to "allow" and "remember"
12. reboot phone again
13. Open LBE again and delete all apks which you see (all which you never using)
14. open Apk Control and disable statrup to all apks
15. reboot phone again
16. ENJOY !
Than you can install apks from Playstore and setup permissions to them using App Startup and LBE Guard, you will be very happy with stability and performance using this rom! Let me know if you are satisfied with rom!
Great! But i was expecting battery saving tweaks... at least can you provide me some tweaks that work with this rom?

I can not give you that, but you can give me if you found some good tweaks! I have no problem with baterry drainage because its the same like stock rom, and ICS is not like GB, you must to know! I using rom whole day without charging and its enought for me. You must to know, we have no source code to get rom improved! So all bugs that is inside stock rom we can not fix! Sony need to improve his rom, and not we. We are consumers only and Sony is sellers, Sony need to give the best product to his consumers, but seems ICS is not 100% complete rom like previous Sony rom aka Gingerbread so we need to wait his patch sets for ICS.
I can see you allways looking for battery improvements (in every rom thread), so question: do you found ICS rom with improved battery usage??

I am currently using eXperience rom v2 and its battery consumption is better than stock ics i think. Anyway, to install this rom do i have to install your first rom before? So do i have to install this first http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1912865 and then the rom in this thread?
Im still downloading this rom so idk the files that this zip contains.
Please read carefully first post and you will see instruction details
you dont say that we have to be on your previous rom before installing. do we ?
