dolphin browser image on my stock SD card - HTC EVO 3D

Just curious so please be kind... I noticed on my stock SD card in the MyAlbum folder there is a Dolphin Browser jpeg image and I was just curious why it is there. As far as I know the actual Dolphin Browser is not on my stock phone anywhere or is it? Just curious and no big deal but I do like to know all that is on my phone including images...

It was a main folder but I did figure out why... I installed Flikie Wallpapers HD from the market and it created the folder with the Dolphin browser jpeg in it. I just back tracked and it repeated it so there ya go...NOT Previously owned!!! I guess flikie is advertising for the Dolphin browser. You can bet I will keep a track of this stuff as I go.
That would make a good program for someone to write, if not already. One that show's exactly what folders and files are installed during program installation. Then you could easily delete bloatstalls...hahaha new word...

Replace the stock Gallery?

I hated when Android made the move to the 3d gallery. Anyone know where I can get the old version, and if replacing the current gallery will work with it?
I'm hunting down old roms and backups on my external hd now.... curious if others have replaced the 3d gallery.
Please give input!
I found this from CM 5.0.7... which I think is not the 3d gallery. Will wait till I hear from others before I go replacing..... I'm thinking if I use root explorer and move the stock gallery to my sd (for a backup) and drop this is system/app I should be good to go after a reboot... thoughts?
EDIT: SUCCESSFULLY REPLACED THE CALENDAR (IN MY STICKY THREAD), BUT NO DICE WITH THE GALLERY... NO .ODEX FILE I GUESS? WAS NOT SHOWING IN THE APP LIST. SORRY FOR THE CAPS, JUST DIDNT WANT PEOPLE GOING CRAZY WITH THE ATTACHED FILE.
i say do it
i been replacing everything in my vibrant*de-t-mobiled*
just dont delete the file you replace so if it doesnt work just move it back into system/apps folder you wont know till you try hell i bricked my phone once now know how to not do what i had done last time.
please wait 2 seconds for an uncompressed image, or press Ctrl+F5 for original quality page
I guess this would work if I flashed a deodexed stock rom.... anyone know how to swing this stock?
I cant let this die... suggestions?
Correct me if Im wrong but couldnt you just download a G1 rom running 2.1 or 2.2. Most of these roms have BOTH the old Gallery and the new Gallery installed.
This is how I would go about doing it as I like the Picasa functionality of the new gallery. It would just seem better to have both giving you a choice of better image quality on zoom in the old gallery and Picasa integration in the new gallery.
Should just be able to decompile the APK for the old gallery and rename it to Gallery2d or what not, change the icon and you're set.

You should be able to look at how this was done in Chromatic

Im really not big on the 3D gallery either, and thats mainly because 1) i had a mytouch and a mt3gs so it wasnt the smoothest... 2) i have certain directories thats are "private" and its not cool having them popup with mutliple pics.. haha
But on the Vibrant there was so much good to the phone that it outwieghed the gallery thing. Id like a 2D gallery, but I like the Picasa integration too and also wonder how the Camera would get involved with a 2D gallery.

This is a simple fix. Because you are using android you can hide folders in the same way that you do on any Linux system. Simply open your file manager, Astro should work well for this, find the folder of shameful pics, choose to rename it and simply add a period "." to the beginning of the folder name. So if the folder was called shameful-pics the new folder name would be .shameful-pics.
Now that your folder is hidden, the gallery should not pick it up. If you want to view the images simply open Astro back up and brows to that folder and use the Astro photo viewer to see the pics.

Random rssIcon folder in gallery?

I had this show up all of the sudden in my gallery so, I searched the whole device with astro to see if I could figure out what app is downloading them and it didn't find them? I deleted the folder and images from the gallery. I don't use an RSS app at all. Where do they come from? I didn't put them there?!
What browser are you using? Couple of them like Miren automatically have RSS unless you disable the feeds.

I am using Miren! Thats probably the culprit. I was a little worried when I searched the device for the icons and came up with nothing. Thanks for your reply. I'll disable rss and hopefully it will not download those litte Asian icons!
You can also drop a file named .nomedia in the folder and they will sit there and not show up. Go to notepad and create a blank .txt file then rename it to ".nomedia" without the quotes and presto they will stay out of your gallery. FYI this works with any media you don't want showing up.

How to prevent the gallery app from reading the entire sd card?

Sorry if this is a re post. Is there a way to specify specific directories where the gallery app should read pictures from? The app is now looking through hundreds of music directories and loading album art which I want avoid.

that's a handy app, placing .nomedia files manually can be a pain in the ass depending on how many folders you want to exclude (i have folders with comic books in jpg)
thanks!
did this work for anyone on the prime? I couldn't get it to work. even with folder checked off then update gallery, it still showed the unwanted pics in there. like I wanted to hide pics from download folder subdirectory miscellaneous. I tried by checking off download folder, didn't work. then tried by specifying the specific one /mnt/sdcard/Download/misc. still no luck
Yeah, didn't work for me either. It said I didn't have the permissions to access the directories (I was trying to do this on a directory in my external storage.)
Any alternative apps to the stock gallery?

no, you place an empty file essentially that is names ".nomedia" in any folder you don't want the OS to scan for media related files and add them to things like the music player or the gallery.
that's what the app does for you, but for some reason it isn't working (i haven't checked to see if it's actually placing the files in the folder, but if it's not then that's the problem)
easiest way is to create a blank txt document in notepad or something, then save it and change the name (and extension) to ".nomedia" and then copy and paste that wereever you want on your tablet.
Exactly. and sorry for that spelling earlier wow... I didn't realize how terrible it was. lol
Thanks alot man
I use Quickpic (on all my Android devices). Lets you choose which folders to include and/or exclude (a must when you have N64oid high res texture packs for stuff like Mario 64 on your device - thousands of tiny image files!).
I use "Gallery Excluder" on my phone. Not sure if it works on TP prime or not, still waiting on mine.

Quick question do these apps hide the files from the associated programs, meaning i don't want my cover art to show in my gallery but i want my audio player to still be able to find it , seems like these no media file work arounds wouldn't allow that to happen, why can't we have the options to pick media paths for all stock viewers....any suggestions on how to hide from some programs and not others ?thanks for helping me figure this stuff out ...
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
gallery excluder just updated recently but still doesn't work on the prime. I uninstalled it as it seems useless if not working properly.
It's simple as renaming the folders with a . at the beginning of any file you don't want the gallery to read. (ex.- .icons)

This is one thing that bugs the hell out of me,
Added the file .nomedia flag file but it still pulls data into the gallery, really anoying
Anyone else got any ideas on this one ?
Thanks

Same here....I will try out that quickpic app someone mentioned before. Galary excluder and renaming the files don't work. I think gallery app kinda bugged anyways. Like not all the time pics saved from websites show up there or something. Its weird. But they will all be there if you look in Astro. I think it depends on where its saved originally. If its saved someplace and you move it to the folder you want, it won't show up. If you save it to location you want first, then it'll more than likely show up. Opera mobile good at letting you save stuff where ever you want as it has a mini file explorer pop up once downloading about to begin. The others browsers don't n usually save to download folder.

Downloading photos issue

Sooooo... I just discovered that this stoooopid-ass phone of mine is storing downloaded photos to the phone's internal storage instead of the SD card. Is there anyway to fix this? I don't even think it's possible to move those photos from the phone to the SD card since my laptop can't even find the phone's internal photo storage folder. Seriously? WTF?!?!

Please read the stickies and search before starting pointless threads. All of your issues are because you don't know what you're doing, and not the fault of the phone.
Here's the first one, answered in a thread conveniently titled "F.A.Q.s - Massive Question Round Up Thread".
Racer Of All said:
Q: Why are my pictures saved to the internal phone storage and how can I force it to save to the SD card?
A: When you first launched your camera app (assuming you had an SD card in) it should have asked you if you wanted to save to the SD card. Either way, the problem is easily fixed within the camera settings or by going to Settings> Storage> App storage locations and choosing Storage card for each option.

When you connect your phone to your computer, if you select media sync instead of hard drive, it will give you access to both internal and external sdcard from your computer.

Thanks, Einstein, but apparently YOU'RE the one that can't read. My issue has NOTHING to do with pictures that's been taken with the camera. Read my post again and then come back with another smart-ass and useless post. Thanks.

Thanks... that takes care of that problem. I never even thought about using that 'Media Sync' option to find files. I still can't find a way to force downloading photos to the SD card though.

No biggie. I really wasn't too concerned with the 'Media Sync' thingy since I ended up deleting the downloaded photos from the phone's internal memory. That wasn't that big of a deal, however... I have bigger fish to fry with my original issue.

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. I use the Dolphin HD browser and SOMETIMES Google Chrome (which still has a lot of bugs). I have all of the settings set in the Dolphin HD browser to download photos to the SD card, but they still go to the phone's internal storage. If I remember correctly, Google Chrome doesn't even offer that option. It really doesn't offer it's users that many adjustments at all, actually.

don't know about chrome, but I use dolphin hd also, and I was able to change the download directory to the sdcard by going to settings, privacy and personal data, download directory, and changing that entry to /mnt/sdcard/ext_sd/download. Is that how yours is set up? I just tested it and its working correctly on my end.

Yeah, that's how mine's read. I don't see any other settings in the browser OR on the phone to change the directory path. I don't have this problem on any of my other phones. All the downloaded photos goes straight to the SD card. Oh well...

File explorer on I9300

I am having this problem, whereby I downloaded a photo from a MMS sent to me, and it was stored in my Download folder in my Internal Storage. I used ES File Explorer and move the file (not copy) to my external SD card photo album, however the photo will not appear in my gallery under the same album. When I actually opened up my SD card using my computer, I actually found that the photo which I moved isn't in the album which I moved it to, and neither is it in the Download folder in my internal storage. Anyone able to help me on this?
I am using CM9 Stable, on Siyah kernel 1.5.2.

Kindly provide a more constructive answer. You know MMS isn't free and yes I can still see the file in exactly the same folder that I moved it to on my ES File Explorer, but just not in my gallery as well as PC.

That probably was the most constructive answer as everything else is guesswork and involves you searching the entire phone for the MMS in the hope that its not deleted .
Or carrying out the same task again as a test to see where the file goes to .

How about, read what I wrote in my question. I said, I saved the mms attachment and it is AUTOMATICALLY saved in Download folder in Internal Storage. How the heck will the MMS be deleted? I never mention anything about the MMS being deleted. I said, I moved the picture that I downloaded from the MMS from the Download folder in Internal Storage to my SD card, which is where I stored all my pictures. However the picture is nowhere to be found in my Gallery or when I searched for the picture in the folder in my SD card, however I can still see it in the same folder in the SD card when I go to my File Explorer. I can always re-download the photo from the MMS again because MMS isn't deleted unless I delete it myself, but I am just asking if anyone here has this issue too when moving files using file explorer on the phone itself. Kindly get your facts right before jumping to any conclusion. If you are not here to help, you can ignore the thread and don't act like a pro when you are not. MMS deleted? When I read that I nearly burst out laughing because MMS is stored in your inbox, and you can choose to download the attached file, it is the downloaded attached file that I am concerned about. To add on, the problem is solved after I reboot my phone but I find it stupid to reboot phone whenever i organise my picture files using file explorer.
