[Q] Brick - Really? - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Some have indicated that their streak has been bricked.
I think brick means that there is no way to revive the device that costs reasonably less than purchasing a replacement.
How many been in the position that qdl tool didn't revive the phone?
How many have not been able to get their phone running again?

Just bricked. Currently not upset only because it probably hasn't hit me yet. The device doesn't even turn on. Just a rediculously expensive paper weight. Any ideas on what to do?

Steve what were you doing when it bricked and by not turning on do you mean, it is not recognized by your PC when you push and hold the volume button up and plug it to USB port?

Hi Steve,
PM sent. I can revive even a dead bricked Streak from a bad firmware flash...

if you can boot into fastboot you might be able to save your devise by pushing the revovery and rom to ur devise

Did you try to connect to fastboot? Maybe your screen is broken (or if you are lucky the screen connector is loose). Does it vibrate when you turn it on?
It is very improbable to brick this device by flashing something. At least I never heard of it. Only thing known to me to fully brick your folio is by pressing 4x Power and volume down on boot (don't try that...).
When i press the power button it does nothing, only the power led on the right turns green (white when on AC ).
Also, when i connect it to usb and do a fastboot devices i get no respons. Realy think i did something wrong and bricked it :S

apologize for interfering & oftop, but certainly cant keep silence - "impossible to brick" - same i was told abt my dell streak device, but here I'm with bricked device on hands, where only ORT-JTAG can help :-(
it was bricked when PC hanged during rom flashing....so I guess every chance is possible :-(
Shidima_101 can you describe in detail before/during brick ?
Well, I'm not really sure what i did. And i think that is the problem. I was installing a new rom, and left it unattended. When I came back, something was wrong and I started messing with some options. Witch turned out to be wrong i guess
Tho I'm a little further now. When I connect the tablet I my pc recognizes its there a device, but I'm not sure I can get it working again. Tomorrow I have some time to look at it more.
Sader0 can you give me some info on ORT-JTAG? Do you know if its possible to do this on the Folio100 ? I don't mind opening up the tablet to get it back in to working order.
I'm in the same situation.
After the update to the last version, my folio apparently boot but the screen is blank. The backlight is on but nothing appears on the screen.
I'm able to go in Fastboot or in recovery mode, but formatting cache. system and reflashing different roms do not solve the issue
What I should do ?
SOLVED !

Not sure if I can even get to fastboot, but ill give it a try tomorrow. Im at my work now and didnt bring the tablet
bricked
I ****ed up? 4x power button, Ar there solutions?
gtrz
Ok, I have a small update. After trying a lot of different stuff, and nothing working, I decided to bring my tablet back to the store. First I tried to get them to switch my device for a new one, but that was a no go. So the device was returned to Toshiba for a check up and fix.
I was a little afraid that they would find out that i rooted and bricked my device, but today I got a letter telling me I can come pick it up and it was fixed free of charge
So tomorrow I'm going back to pick up my tablet

Vibrant Will Not Boot, Hard Bricked Please HELP!

Unfortunately after my latest mishap with Odin, I cannot even turn my phone on. I have been flashing awhile and have loved all the roms that the developers have produced. The closest I have come to this was a soft-boot that many other users get. I have tried the method of removing the sd card and sim card and battery and then plugging your phone in and putting the battery in after holding down the two rocker buttons, but that did not work this time. I really hope someone could help me with the problem I have, I still love this phone
i hard bricked mine because of odin a few month ago, it froze so i unplugged and got the 'phone ! pc' screen
so when it froze again i unplugged thinking i'd get that again but i got nothing, i think it was doing the bootloaders so it was just dead
only way back from hard brick is to jtag, mine wasnt expensive and only took like a day for them to do but im in the UK
theres a few people on here that do it i think
just get it jtagged!
Where?
I saw that mobile tech videos had a service where they unbricked phones has anyone had them fix their phone or can someone recommend me to someone else who can jtag it
his name is connexion2005
pm him he jtags phones to fix them
So you see no spindles when you plug into PC or wall outlet? Not even the battery charge icon?
Yes I have nothing . But I did PM, unless I could somehow make up an excuse for Samsung I will probably have to get it JTAGED
Yup, I'd keep playing with it while you wait. Try different cords, maybe a different PC if you can, random other button combos(including the soft buttons), maybe even a different battery. But in the end jtag seems like its gonna be your fix unfortunately. Good luck!
T-mobile is giving sending me a replacement
T-Mobile is sending a replacement, but I have to hand in my own vibrant that i hardware gps fixed. Should I try to push the antenna back down so it looks like i didn't or does anyone think they will even bother looking there for any "damage"

cant get it back into downloadmode?
I suggest getting a jig for about $10 (usually less.)
Even if it doesn't save you this time, there's always next time.
Google or search forums or youtube. Plug it in and it brings phone up in download mode.
take battery out
put battery back in
hold volume down and volume up and at the same time plug in ur usb cable that is plugged into your computer
Try a JIG
Check out SkOrPn, he know's his stuff.

[Q] Atrix cannot power on after installation of a new rom

Hi all! My new Atrix was running on Android 2.2, as the newer version of ROM was available, I decided to install it. I fully charged the battery and started installation. In the middle of the process I saw error message in RSD Lite (something like "flashing failed") and my gadget has powered off. Since that time I cannot boot it, cannot power on, cannot do anything. It's like a piece of plastic that doesn't react on any action. Please, help me to resolve this issue, because I cannot return it back to the seller.
Thank you all in advance.
Have you pulled the battery let it sit for a few seconds and put the battery in and tried powering up?
If you can still get into rsd mode then there is hope, otherwise you are hard bricked

Yes, I pulled the battery out and put it in and it didnt help
I cannot access rsd mode as well
One small update, I was plugging the phone to the PC by cable and suddenly the green light switched on. It happened when I was inserting the cable. When the cable was plugged till the end, the green light dissapeared.
Can it be that loader has crashed? If the gadget is hard bricked, is there any possibility to recover it?
Yesterday I was at the service-center, where I was told that boot loader has burnt out and it needs some repair + reinstall firmware using chip programmer. As Atrix is a new model, firmware doesn't exist yet. I am very frustrated that my new phone will lie down on the shelf waiting for good people that create this software.
Same Issue on me

Ultra Brick?

My X10 mini pro has been fully bricked for some time now, moved onto an Xperia U. However, I still would like to see if this is still possible to unbrick.
Firstly, I have bricked my x10 mini pro many times and ended up unbricking it with Sony's official repair phone feature. Now, the brick before my current brick was harder to deal with. It appeared as if my phone eated up all the power from my previous battery and would not let it turn on at all, just red led blinks. So I ended up replacing the battery and attempted to turn the phone on, viola. It powered, but did not boot into the kernel screen (NAA 11 ICS or something, it was quite a while ago) Although, it did go into flashmode that made it easier for me to unbrick with Flashtool by flashing the stock rom/kernel manually.
Now, after restoring my phone to its original state by re-flashing MiniCM9 3.0.4 and stuff, my phone suddenly decided to freeze itself in its sleeping state. Battery pulls and replaces did not help at all, it does not power on at all, period. Can't get it into flash mode at all, it's just.. Dead? I don't know how it happened, the last ever task I set my x10 mini to do was sync and download my playlist on Spotify.
What's weird is, if the battery is low the led will blink red as normal as it should. Another charged battery would do nothing at all. I've taken it to repair shops, no luck. They all say it's dead so I'm at my last resort, the community of phone enthusiasts. Is there any way to unbrick my old fantastic phone?
Thanks.

There is still LED, so I think it is not hard brick. But if it is, you can try to go to a phone technician that has a JTAG tool. JTAG tool fix bootloaders if it is messed up. It is on a hardware level so home remedies is no longer possible. A hard bricked is a litterally dead at all, no LED and no response. In your case IDK if you really have a defective battery. But my guess is you have a messed up bootloader, the hardware cannot communicate with your software because of that your phone cannot boot(not even on kernel logo), just my guess, maybe im wrong or maybe im right. MAYBE JTAG is the answer for your problem.

Bootloader being messed up sounds about right, and yeah gonna have to manually flash it with hardware such as the JTAG tool as you mentioned. Bah, thanks for the reply.
