I was trying to transfer files to my friend's GS2 via wifi direct. I have cognition s2 v1.13 on my GS2. i can't see sare via wifi option ? do anybody elese facing the same problem anf got fix?

I have the same issue. My galaxy S2 GTI9100 came with gingerbread and I could share vids or pics via wifi to my fiances sgs2 easily. I upgraded to stock ROM ICS and the share via wifi appears to be replaced with wifi direct. It appears that wifi direct shuts down normal wifi comns when in use, and both phones need to activate wifi direct. Does anyone have an Apk
for this from gingerbread stock ROM that I can overlay on my ICS ROM or is this not possible ?

Apologies if there is an answer to this anywhere else on XDA but I had a decent look and was unable to find one.
I recently installed the MIUI mod as per the instructions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1079150
The mod looks great and I did not encounter any problems with the install however I now cannot connect to wifi. After entering in the passkey under wifi settings it simply goes through the cycle over and over of:
Connecting.... Obtaining IP address.... Disconnected.... Connecting.... etc.
Anybody know of a solution?

I also had similar issues.. It will connect but frequently drop and while connected, the speed is ridiculously slow.. I wish i could find a solution.. 3g speeds are great and its not the wifi network causing the problem..

this happens to me with my router netgear (is a router issue). i need to reboot router in order to reconnect my defy to wifi. If you doesn't solve try to install latest miui.us 1.8.5, is newest and stable
Just installed 1.8.5 and still no dice. I am also going through a Netgear router so that may be the issue however reboot did not fix the problem for me.
Update:
Currently logged on to wifi at work with no problems at all so it must have something to do with the router. Is there anyway I can counter this by forwarding the IP address through a port or something?
Interestingly, I am also having the same problem with my bluetooth. My car stereo has bluetooth for hands free and I can instantly pair with this device but cannot connect to it. It again just gets stuck in a "Connecting...." loop but is never able to finish connecting.
Am I missing something simple or should I just give up on MIUI for the moment in favour of something else such as CM7...
I just updated my Desire and same issue.. any solurions?
Give CM7 A try... wait for a while... there will be an RC update with 2.3.5

you have tried the 2.3.5a stable? has no problem
It might have something to do with the base Android system you had before. I've read that flashing the Nordic sbf, then rooting it, full wipe (factory reset, cache, dalvik) and then install might fix your issues.

I had the same problem with CM7 RC1 (RC0 worked), with Barebones Froyo and now with MS2Ginger... It connects to the router...but the internet speed is really slow... I changed the router to G mode and nothing.
With MIUI 1.8.5 my wifi worked ok...
Hi all,
I just upgraded to XLP7 (ICS) on my Bell SGS2. After upgrading I can no longer scan and find my home wireless n signal. my other devices (laptops) are however able to find it.
With GB 2.3.6 I was able to scan and find the wireless n signal.
Wondering if anyone else has checked and run into this issue.
I got the ICS update earlier today and was shocked/disappointed not to see a thethering option.
Is there an app that i can use or something im missing? Please help

Hello, i've rooted my phone and installed black bean rom, and after while i've detected that my wifi doesn't work (doesn't connect to router even with good password). Because if that i've installed FoxHound Rising 1.5.4 JellyBean Beta and it kinda helped, now it connect to router but lose connection very offten and it take ages to load webpage or doesn't even load it. I've made screenshot, can someone tell my what white thing next to my wifi means?

Ok first of all you need to realise that those roms are BETAS, they are based on LEAKED otas. They are not completely ready to be released to the public yet.
That symbol is for WiFi direct, it's a bug in DLH9 leak and can't be removed unless you flash the WiFi direct fix floating around the forum.
It does no harm anyway.
