Has anybody noticed there Evo 3D not sleeping after the OTA. I've done a factory reset thinking that it might fix it but it is still not sleeping.
Edit:I looked at battery stats and it says that Media is keeping my phone awake. I have noticed that when I go to my music player that it is constantly looking for all of my music but it never finds it all.
It's gotta be something you installed or the update. Mine sleeps just fine (15 hours up and 3 awake) no updates.

Yeah I tested the music thing. I took out my memory card and turned my phone back on and my music app stopped searching for music. and my phone would sleep I put my memory card back in and my music app kept searching and it wasn't sleeping again. I wish I never updated because this wasn't happening. I was looking for a way to downgrade to before the OTA update

Random restarts this morning and it was just sitting on my desk. Saw some other threads about this for other phones:
Desire
EVO 4G
MyTouch 4G
They mention something about a "Mobile Data always on" setting but I can't find it. Anyone having similar issues?
Happening again.Anyone else with this issue?

I had the same problem with mine only 10 days old constant reboots massive battery drain and sometimes the phone would go into a deep sleep and wouldnt come back on unless i pulled the battery returned it to carphone warehouse got a brand new replacement and this ones great no battery drain at all and doesnt reboot so just return the phone as faulty

I've been having this issue as well. I've only had the phone since Tuesday and its happened 3 times now.
Each time it has happened I was using the stock music app but it might not be related since I listen to music at work for 6 hours a day.
I did install Wave Secure. I'm going to try uninstall that and see if it happens again.
Cheers

Hey,
I've got these random reboots as well, but it only happens when I'm listening to music (stock player) so that has got to be the problem. Does anyone know more about this?
Getting the same random reboots with Villain 2.4.2 (Ninphetamine 2.0.5) loaded. Sometimes when waking up, has also happened when screen was active just sitting on the desk after finishing a call.
Any suggestions?
Just wanted to make everyone aware of the sleep issue with the EVO 3d , even after the ota the phone fails to sleep at all, spent an hour on the phone with HTC and they said it was a software issue and needs to be replaced, if ur your phone is saying the same up and awake time in the battery menu take it back, apparently they said the phone needs 2 mins to go into sleep, and if thise numbers havent changed after that you have faulty software

Looks good.
Glad they are recognizing it as a h/w issue and letting you get another one. Hopefully your next one is like mine.
That's interesting. I have this problem on my EVO 3D, but I am pretty sure I didn't before. I started noticing it yesterday morning after I woke up.
I think I'll try a hard reset, but if that doesn't fix it, then I'll go ask for an replacement.
Well?
Up time 163.35
Awake time 89.09
Good or bad?

This is happening to me too after I took the OTA, my phone died in about 6-7 hours yesterday, steady decline on the battery graph. I thought it seemed fine before the OTA tho. I should take it back?
I believe mine was fine too until the ota, i cant 100% confirm it though, to check this out go into menu>settings>about phone>battery make sure the up time and awake time arent the same ive tried hard reseting with no success and also have tried killing all tasks, call htc about this issue, or just try to take it back

Nevermind, I just tested it and it seems to be sleeping fine now. It was just not sleeping while on the charger, but sleeps fine off. I think my issues yesterday might be battery calibration issues, will test out today to see if that is the case.

Thats too bad about your cell.. bad hardware or bad run etc.. at least its not a wide spread or close problem. The 10 I have seen since release sleep well with great battery life.. still jelous..just waiting for root before i get mine
Even with this phone not sleeping i still get like 8 hours out of it with moderate use, so i can only imagine how good its gonna be when i get one that actually sleeps

Its only if the numbers are the same, i called in this morning and they tried to troubleshoot it but nothing worked, just told me to return it just to be safe id keep an eye on it to make sure it is sleeping

I think it's just a software bug. Should be fixed in an OTA by HTC. I have it too but my battery isn't affected so I'm not worried about it and neither should anybody else. Unless your battery is being affected.
Not to be a smart Ass, but how would I know if battery is effected?

Basically if your battery doesn't last very long. Its just like keeping your screen on all the time.
Yeah, I feel like this should be software related since I'm pretty sure it wasn't happening on my phone before.
My wife's Rezound (.605, ClearnROM 4.5) has been stable for weeks and weeks. Then, in the last 72 hours or so, it suddenly started ripping through its battery in minutes -- fully charged to dead in 90-180 minutes, even if the phone is just sitting on a desk, untouched, screen off. There doesn't appear to be anything running in the background to account for the drain (no Facebook or anything like that).
Any ideas? Really don't want to have to return it to stock, exchange it with VZW as defective, go through setting up a new one.
Thanks in advance...
a silly question but have you tried to over clock or under volt it recently?

best thing to do is go into settings and see what has been using the phone. Go into apps, too and see what has been running.. Finally, an app like better battery stats can really help you see what is killing it.
Often in cases like yours, its a recently updated app that is keeping the phone awake for some reason.

No to overclocking or undervolting. Haven't really had the need to do either since moving off our Droid Xs some months ago. But that was a good thought.
The screen appears to be what's killing the phone. For some reason, it keeps setting itself for Sleep/Never, meaning the screen is on all the time. The last time spent changing that setting seems to be working. Not sure why it keeps toggling back to that setting. May have to reset the phone, reload a ROM and see if a fresh start makes a difference...
This morning I went back to bed after dropping my g/f at school... I let my phone charge and I awoke to it almost burning to the touch. There was some message on the screen but I was half asleep so I don't remember what it said. I think it was something about unplugging the phone.
I checked battery use in the menu and screen was 79% or something around there. Everything else was just 2-3%. The screen was at the lowest brightness setting. This morning the phone was at 70% and when I woke up ~3-4 hours later it was at 80%.
I'm running Shostock 6.2 (ICS 4.0.4, I believe it uses the most recent Siyah kernel) and also flashed the JB 4.2 keyboard, camera, gmail and Google Now. My phone has the stock battery, a rubber case on it, and it was on the bed. I turned the phone off, removed the case and back but let the battery stay in. After about 5 minutes and it had cooled I turned it back on. It's running completely fine and charging now as well.
This was pretty startling and makes me worry about leaving it overnight again to wake up finding the phone fried.
Any idea as to what went wrong? Was it some sort of ventilation problem? My gf and I have both charged our phones on the bed and never had them overheat like this.

Possibly media scanner constantly running.
Interesting. What would make that happen? A system glitch?

I'm not sure what actually cause it but yer definitely not done. Many others have said media scanner goes crazy sometimes. I believe someone said they download an app from the play store to control when it runs, hopefully they will chime in with the name of that app.

Rescan media root is the name of the app frequently used to control media scanner.

Could it have just been that the bed was suffocating the phone? My girlfriend said it happens sometimes on her phone ( I never really noticed) she has a stock Sprint GS2.

I doubt it. If your phone is sleeping, there's no way it could over-heat (even if you have it squeezed under your pillow or something) unless the cpu is running at full speed (which is what happens when media scanner is running). If you're really paranoid and having this issue repeatedly, and it is indeed the media scanner, remove your sd card for a night and see if it stops over-heating. But really, your phone should still feel hot even when its not charging if the media scanner is constantly running and you're not doing anything with the phone.
OK thanks for the info. I will keep an eye on it. Is there the chance that some program is downloading authorized data to my phone?
I'm also recalibrating my battery tonight.
Sent from my SGH-I777
Battery is recalibrated by itself when you fully charge and almost fully discharge several times. The rest is a myth.
I fully charged it and drained it completely then let it charge back up. I think when I flashed the rom I was at 94%.

It started happening a couple days ago, but I haven't installed anything new, but maybe a few apps may have autoupdated. Anyways last time it happened was about a minute ago so I figured I should probably try and figure out what's going on. I sat down and launched a game. As it was loading my phone shut off. I turned it back on and put a song on and loaded same game again. I started to play and then it shut off again. Earlier today I was listening to music and was started a different game and it shut off. I turned it back on and relaunched the same game while listening to music and it was fine for hours. Any idea what it could be? My battery is also well over 60% so it's not anything to do with low battery.
Thanks.
i recently have this problem, some say that was stock battery problem or the phone is bad reading the battery status and shutdow, i am from Nicaragua and here is hard to find a stock OEM battery so, i try do a fix permission in recovery and the problem was solved , but most users solved the problem by changing its battery
good luck
This problem has come back again and has been increasingly getting annoying. It will now shut off multiple times a day randomly. For example I'll check the time on my phone and it will shut off. I turn it back on and as soon as I unlock the screen it shuts off. After it does this a few times it will work. I would then open facebook or something and be scrolling down and it will just shut off again. I'm running default ics rooted and unlocked. Never had issues before and nothing has really been added. I've disabled a couple things such as advanced task killer and single cpu thing with the hopes that it would help, but it hasn't.
Any idea?
Thanks.
Bump. Anyone?
Welcome to the amaze. Mine started doing it again. Changing to non OEM battery helped for a while but it's back. I'll never touch a ****ing HTC phone again until the day I die and I've only ever used HTC.

Yeah I'm thinking the same. It is so annoying trying to send texts when it would shut down for no damn reason. I am hoping it's an app that is causing the phone to crash, but I haven't installed any recently. I got a new battery a couple months back but I wasn't having the problem then. This battery should be a few months old so I don't expect it to be the problem.
Love HTC. (even though I'm considering am s4 simply for a change of flavor) but HTC cannot make a good battery. They underestimate by a lot.
