Pretty sure you can uninstall it....
You can remove most of the Sprint apps, not the HTC ones, though.

I tried it tells me it was unsuccessful unless you know what trick on an unrooted phone

should let u remove it, just go to settings, manage applications, then all, and select the sprint ones u want to get rid of
On all android phones once you get root all the bloat can be removed. Usually titanium backup is the easiest way, but sometimes through adb.
It isn't that sprint 'isn't letting us'. HTC has the phones this way to keep the majority of inexperienced end-users from removing the wrong things and messing up the phones.

I'm pretty sure I don't need Flickr and Amazon mp3, heh.
Can't wait to remove these dumb HTC apps.
The Amazon Mp3 one isnt bad if you end up using their Music Cloud service.

I'm also curious enough to leave Blockbuster alone for now. I'm hoping that we have multiple options for accessing 3D content (i.e. HTCWatch, Blockbuster, Netflix)
You can remove sprint tv, nascar, the blockbuster app, sprint navagation, and one other i don't remember the name of.
These can be removed without root.

They will probably declare bankruptcy soon but they do have a nice Netflix type deal which they let you rent both movies and games through the mail. I am interested in the game option since it appears to be cheaper than Gamefly or any of the other mail-rental game businesses.

lol... good Q... I think netflix shut them down... and stream what videos.. its 3g... at least on 4g the videos are HQ like u would see on wifi... on 3g its gona be blurry as a crap... so why would u pay money to watch a movie that will be chopped need buffering all the time and low quality?
the blockbuster app is coded to look for fascinate software, could be a simple build.prop edit but I doubt it. It looks for something that tells the app the phone is a fascinate. Disable the app to not look for a device i.d and it might work
the blockbuster app is overpriced crap. Just wait for MediaHub.
Anyone have this app or use it? Does the GPS location thing always need to be turned on? Does it waste battery?

I just installed Android Lost. It's free and it's great. It lets you do a lot of stuff, like make your phone sound a police siren in case you lost it somewhere in your house, lock the phone, give you the GPS coordinates, and take pictures and send it to your email, all from the web interface. It doesn't use any battery life either.
sounds good
Thanks. I may have to try one of these because the Total Protection app apparently cannot find my phones location worth a damn. Which location/security app uses the least battery?

Yeah, that's my only concern. Lookout is for sure reputable (been around longer, been recommended more, been on the news for Pete's sake lol) and the free version has all the features you really need, while the paid version adds remote lock and remote wipe capabilities

Forgive me if this topic has already been covered. Simple question though. As root is apparently around the corner, what do you miss that you can't currently do on your 3vo?
For me one of the things is using multi mount sdcard. I use my phone for music in my car and just plugging the usb in is more convenient than having to hit usb storage. Slightly lazy? Yes. But what's technology for? Lol
So what about you guys?

I would always flash my evo all the time. I think the one good thing about root is we can work out the bugs on our own instead of waiting for a release. (evo 4g battery life for example).
Other then that just wireless tethering was handy about once or twice a month. This phone is pretty solid to begin with so I'm not too concerned unless something crazy is released.
That's so true. I love this phone lol. I feel that there are only a few things people could need root for so I'm tying to find new uses that I've never used

i agree, as much as i enjoy having root and flashing roms, im actually quite happy with the phone as is for right now.
The biggest thing I miss is Titanium backup. I liked being able to backup and restore app data. The ad-free app was nice too. I like Sense 3.0 and it's so fast and smooth that it makes me not miss rom flashing...yet.
The only thing I miss is that you can use the volume rocker to skip music tracks while the screen is off. That's it!

titanium by far.
Rom manager will be another miss when i start flashing roms, but for now i need to restore my apps from my og evo.
No more bloat. Really the biggest reason I root is to get rid of all the stuff i don't want on my phone. That and usually better battery life because of the more efficient kernals.
Remove bloat (although not as big now that you can uninstall several apps) and wireless tether.
AOSP and that's it. Lol.
I want CM7 on this phone so bad!
Only Rom I ever really used on regular Evo.

Same here. Really missing wireless tether. Back to using PDAnet for now but it's a hassle to move between two laptops.
Also annoying that I can't remove useless apps like Amazon MP3.
Everything else I can live with.
First and formost for me is Wireless Tether
After that, titanium backup, and getting rid of a bit of bloatware. I'm digging sense, but, would like CM also.
I miss the development section..
And hate readinf/trolling "what if" and "old news" threads
That's what I miss about root

Well, just bricked my NFC somehow after flashing a Rom and I guess something didn't reset even tho I cleared out google wallet, precautions, etc.
That's neither here nor there tho. I just want to know if anyone has had trouble exchanging a rooted phone at best buy?
Please give me some suggestions. While google wallet is pretty much a gimmick, I like to be able to have the gimmick. Lol. But if I am stuck with the phone then that's okay too.
Edit: I'm still within 14 days of buying the phone...

NFC secure element not responding. So basically just google wallet is broke as beam will still work. Neither feature is a necessity for me, but I put $ on the card.
Also have WiFi disconnecting like crazy too, so kinda want to exchange it for that since I'm still within 14 days.

How do you know if you bricked it. I got my prepaid card and flashed another Rom and forgot to reset wallet . Now all wallet does is hang at the activating screen. I just got off the phone with a google rep and he said if I got to the activating part then more that likely your not bricked. He said it won't let you in the app if secure element is bricked . He did say if you got the secure element message than you'll need to replace your phone

Messing up my secure element has worried me too. I accidentally ran regaws root method and didn't reset google wallet, though it didn't brick it for some reason. I am lucky.
Are you getting the secure element message? If not, then you're good and you just need to do the fix that is found in the dev subforum here. I've done it twice and it works. You have to do it after any flash of a Rom.
Also, I really don't get the "im too good for wallet" attitude. I have used it and its very cool! I paid for gas at Sheetz right at the gas pump. Didn't go inside, didn't have to key in debt stuff. And it isn't a gimmick. A gimmick is something rather useless and wallet is something I find useful for me personally. Also, when the iPhone adopts NFC technology and all the Apple zombies begin using it, the popularity will move faster.

This, unfortunately, is true. Except first Apple will announce it as iPay or something so they'll all think it was their idea, and probably sue Google over it as well.
My phone is perfect and if I screwed up wallet I wouldn't bother taking my phone back. From what I read Google isn't even going to support our phones anymore anyways. Unless you have a supported Citicard, I think its dumb to use a credit card just to fund Wallet to then be limited to were you could use it. Wallet is pointless and useless and those who break it won't be missing out on much.
just lock it and ruu the phone or whatever is needed to get rid of that red text on the splash screen and hope for the best. If they are smart enough to boot into the bootloader they are doing it to try to deny a warranty, no other reason to go into it.
I'm not sure if BB even has a policy on that since the unlocking the bootloader thing is your warranty through HTC that is being affected.
Also, if you have never used google wallet I assume you don't have to reset it or whatever when you reflash do you? I have never used it so I never worried about resetting it. I wouldn't care if it didn't work though since I will never use google wallet for anything but maybe trying to get the free money that's on there.
Ok when does the secure element message popup ? When you trying to open the app or when you try to make a purchase?
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
I exchanged mine the other day at BB for the same reason. The manager reset it a couple times and then just did a swap for a new one. Didn't boot into recovery that I could see, but I was sure to remove root, relock the bootloader & run the RUU first.

The reason I ask is that when I rooted my Epic 4g the Play store would not let me rent movies because it detected my phone was rooted.
If that is not the case anymore, awesome.
Actually if your rooted, you can't use HTC watch from the last time I tried, rooting will give you complete access to the system, but that doesn't mean that your HTC/google services can't tell without a modified version that doesn't look for root.
also you can't use google play videos, however I have found a missed google video app somewhere on this forum before that is hacked to work with rooted devices. But I'm pretty sure HTC watch is done with when your rooted. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I would like to know also
Sent from my EVO using xda premium
Know HTC watch is done with since no one really cares to mod it. Use up your free rentals if u have em before u root. What I did anyways.
And y even bother paying google for their overpriced movies? Half the time it stops playing right in the middle or doesn't work at all. Then takes 3 months to get a refund after complaining everyday for that 3 month period.
Netflix or torrents are so much better, and cheaper.
Never used HTC watch so I don't care about that. What about Google wallet, will it still work?
