I have flashed my x10a,but it still at times lags for quite a while, and mysteriously powers off. I see that the new at&t update carries the baseband of 2.1.60. Will this possibly help with the problems that I am having right now? Downloaded 2.1.0435 from xda, which is generic 2.1. I love my phone regardless,I just want to solve some of these niggling problems.
Thank you devs, for all your help in the past and present. I'm new to this, and the tech talk at times goes WAY over my head. But,with the help from you and YouTube,I flashed my mobile three months ago and glad that I did.

How many times are you going to post about baseband 2.1.60 advertised on SE website that has been proven to be wrong or outdated. First, SE doesn't talk about baseband numbers regarding updates, they use firmware numbers, because the baseband is included in the firmware. The AT&T X10a update is firmware 2.1.A.0.492, which comes with baseband 2.1.65.
2.1.60 would be going backwards in numbers. By using the ATT branded update you are using 2.1.65 which limits data from H to 3G, and has known text message problems.
We are all using X10a 2.1.A.0.435 global generic firmware which comes with baseband 2.1.54 on xda, and we don't have any glitches. Be more specific.

I have told him 5 different times in 5 different threads that baseband 2.1.60 doesn't exist, but because he saw a screen shot with baseband 2.1.60 he thinks it is real.
He has waited weeks to update via SEUS or PC Companion, because he wants confirmation of baseband 2.1.60.
Please tell him to update himself and see himself. Please.

Woah! I'm just going by what I saw posted somewhere online! I have a few issues with my phone and thought maybe someone on here could guide me. Yes, I am new to this! Don't attack me for not knowing the proper information, etc., since I am NOT a tech wiz. That is why I come on here for tech support, info on how to make my mobile work for ME! I know there are some software issues that I need to advice on, since the phone randomly powers off, poor response, etc.

What I may not have been SPECIFIC is that I used SEUS to get the mobile to work, which it does. But it has so many issues, and have read several different threads on here, that I need HELP for MY concerns.

Hello.
I am really hoping someone can clear up for me what the different basebands mean to the OS/apps running on my X10. From what little I know they are regional but I don't understand the benefits/hazards of changing them.
I live in Ontario, Canada and my phone was an X10a. I've since flashed different ROM's and am currently running 2.2.1, X10i with 2.0.46 bb.
I understand that the BB version can affect certain ROM's getting stuck in reboots, and even possibly some communication issues, but can they affect things like the camera's performance? general performance of the phone? text messaging?
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong but from my understanding the baseband is kind of like a communication interface between the android os and the hardware. so if you have a rom thats made for a different baseband than you're running will cause errors.
the BB is the radio of your phone
if you didn't have a radio you wouldn't have wifi or a network signal
I'm currently using BB 52 which alot of the devs use
try a couple and see how your battery and other things respond
make sure the bb is compatible with the rom or patch the rom
Hi I am having the same type of issues. I have an X10a and I have tried a couple of different Roms with different basebands. It still comes up with the no signal and shows my phone as an X10i. Wondering if these Roms work well with X10a I did an upgrade a while back to rom 2.1 it shows by baseband of 49. but nothing seems to jive with it. Anyone have success on ATT US with X10a?
It does not matter if your phone says X10a or X10i. The different basebands shouldnt make any difference for most people the only difference is what ROMs work with it. I am in US on AT&T using .58 BB, Wolfs ROM and my phone says X10i. I have had no problems or noticed any differences using any of the basebands for the past 5 months.
If you get no service after flashing a ROM see if the app dev tools is there and open it then go bad behavior>crash system server, then let your phone reboot and you should have service. If that doesnt make a difference make sure your APN settings are set up.

KE2 is not on my kies aswell, they must of took it off for some reason?
Maybe a KE3 on the way
Check my thread. They confirmed to me today on the phone that the upgrade can cause serious damage to some phones so they have pulled it.

I just checked the FUS server and it's been pulled, the latest available is XWKE1.
So what kind of damage can it cause? Because I am running on KE2 already
I'm running XWKE2 too and well and it's perfect. I'm guessing it was pulled because of the compatibility issue with Orange's network. If you're worried and want to flash back to XWKE1 then the files and instructions are in a thread in Dev Forum.

Not worried, just curious if it is an instant problem or one that develops in time while running KE2. I have no issues either, everything runs well and battery is ok too. Only thing that annoys me a bit is the message in Kies: "This version of the device cannot be updated", But i am sure that will go away when a new version will appear.
btw, I have an unbranded phone from clove.
I connected my phone to kies since you guys says it´s been pulled, KE2 is still availible here
Ah, no wonder. I updated yesterday and after a bit of buggering around to get Kies to see my phone it upgraded smoothly. Only later I found I had KE1 & not 2. Thanks for clearing that up, I'm not going mad after all.
yeh i upgraded to ke2 the other day and now im waiting for ke3, but i have not had any force closes or sudden shut downs.
Also my battery is doing ok, and not the best but ok i watched a 80min stream over wifi on the deadly dir655 router and i lost 16-20% so not good but not bad.
I just tried updating with Kies and XWKE2 is not there.
Maybe its only the debranded one thats not there. Maybe the o2 one is still there
I just updated my phone through Kies a few hours ago. No problems whatsoever.
I had to make sure it was an upgrade issue so I went back to 1.6 and I haven’t gotten no network coverage, and the battery last a whole lot longer…. I don’t know why but 2.1 is pretty bad, sure its faster, but if you have no reception and has to have a charger at hand, it defeats the purpose of upgrading.. I would like to know if this is because of flashed rom, or this is an issue with all 2.1’s?
Sounds like an isolated problem. It's been six months since the 2.1 update, and I have not heard this. Did you try repair software via SEUS or PC Companion before going back to 1.6?
try to use Flashtool to make a new fresh 2.1 may fix your issue

I didn't try that, because I thought for some reason if you use SEUS it will block you from downgrading to 1.6 if have a need to go back.

I think it already will block you, because your CDA number has changed and unbranded to global generic. In order to flash back to 1.6 with flash tool, you need to use root explorer or adb to edit the build.prop file back to AT&T branded 1.6.
Try using some of the custom roms - I always found battery life greatly improved (2.1 & 2.2) not to mention the speed and feature improvements.
Give it a go, it's not difficult and you may get a pleasant surprise.

@gabnj -After one day of use and you are giving up? Android needs to build up its cache and everything will be good after a few days. Go read 2.1 after effects thread found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=824721&highlight=after+effects
You will see that a lot of people had the same issue(s) as you. As for poor reception, I don't know. Like the Agent says it might be isolated. Your phone should still be under warranty with AT&T, take it to their repair service location and have it checked out.
Hello, Im about to upgrade my x10a to 2.3 using the flashtool. And i was wondering if everything works correctly and if it works with the x10a U.S.
Thanks A lot
Yes it does. It is working for me.
But I saw a post that someone in New York area is having difficulty to get the radio working.

thanks a lot. I will be doing this soon. this is the official update? and is everything else working smoothly, example: the transition between pages and the touch?
Yes this is the official update. You would be the only judge to make sure everything works smoothly.
I'm glad that I upgraded!
Yeah, I did it and everything seems to work correctly. Now im going to root it. I just need find a way.

You may want to take a look at it. Or flash prerooted one like I did.
Does your phone customization version has the update released? If yes, update it through SEUS or PC Companion. FlashTool is just used for backup, I will not recommend to use it to upgrade OS.

Ive rooted and have been running custom roms. I guess this question is aimed towards our american friends. Is the update worth it? Or are the custom roms available better and the emergance of cm7?
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Roms are better than the 2.3.4 update from Motorola. The best ROM is cm7. But the best everything working ROM in my opinion is Alien ROM which includes webtop and HDMI.
Sent from my Atrix XDA Premium App
We may really tell only when the update is out. I once read that Motorola is delaying Gingerbread for Europe because many modifications are needed. It seems that Atrix and Atrix 4G do really have differences.
I needed to install many tweaks for making Alien #4 perform well on my European, retail Atrix (1bar bug for 3G, A-GPS, a custom kernel, ..).
Moreover, radios out there are not suited for "Euro - retail" Atrix (not 4G) running custom Gingerbread ROMs. I found that the best radios for Italy (I suppose for Europe, too) are still N_01.95.00R (the one that comes with retail Atrix, designed for Froyo) and N_01.100.00R (Orange FR radio). The first performs better in terms of battery life, the second has great connectivity. Substitute N_01.95.00R with the radio that came with your Atrix, in case.
I tried N_01.100.00R but decided to switch back to N_01.95.00R. Currently I am using Cyanogenmod because it is the ROM less built around a specific carrier. I'm quite happy with that.
Probably, the best combination will be to use the radios that Motorola will release for European customers when GB is out here plus Cyanogenmod.
Hope that this helps clarifying.
Thanks. I have seen issues with the custom roms. Mainly lacking in signal when i know i usually have a full signal. How would you flash a radio on atrix...via sbf or is there flashable roms?

you can do it both ways, they exist in SBF form and .zip
there is also a one bar fix that you may want to try, search for it in the dev section
Just a thought: I ended up rooting and installing CM7 within a couple of weeks of buying my Atrix. If you're not bothered about fingerprint scanner and webtop then I think it is a lot better than stock Froyo in terms of performance.
Of course, now Gingerbread is looking like it will be on European phones officially "soon" but think about it: when you've just installed gingerbread with that motoblur overlay, CM9 based on ICS will probably be making its way to devices and aren't you going to be real jealous?!
Come on, you'll probably end up with Cyanogenmod at some point so why not take the plunge now? I honestly believe if you follow the instructions and get everything installed correctly, you won't be disappointed... just happy in the knowledge you'll always be on the path to the next upgrade!

As already posted both possibilities exist. I see from your avatar that you are a Linux user like me. Then beware that, if you will use sbf_flash for flashing sbf, never flash a radio that comes as a CWM file. sbf_flash will never overwrite it then and you will need to use Windows and RSD-Lite.
See more on a previous question posted by me. It started as a question on how to revert back to Froyo after Gingerbread update, but a very helpful user also told me about flashing radios, creating sbf radios/roms and about the sbf_flash bug
I can give or take cm7 yeah its awesome. But still too buggy. And unfortunately i hate the look of stock android. My signal is half what it should be.
So i have restored the original stock rom via cwm. Never realised how good the battery was. Heavy usage involving sat nav. Loads of wifi including facebook, market, xda and a few phone calls. 15 hours off charge and still 70%!!
Im waiting for the ota. Then maybe things may run smoother in regards radios and so on with other roms.

I too am waiting on the official Gingerbread update for my UK Orange Atrix and fingers crossed, should be coming within the next week or two (Mid November has been quoted)
I'm still on Stock 2.2 having only had the Atrix for 1 week but am already feeling the custom Rom pull.
I guess it would be best to play with the official Gingerbread Rom for a week or two (when it comes haha) and if it's lacking then hit the custom's then - that's my plan anyways

I installed it, the sbf for my Atrix was posted three days ago in the Firmwares Superthread. It is amazing.
It comes with N_01.100.00R radio, that perfectly works with this ROM. Great 3G connectivity, great WiFi stability, GPS gets the signal in a bunch of seconds and battery life is great: after 07hrs and 30minutes of light usage (3G on, Gmail + Twitter on and sporadic Internet browsing), the battery level is still between 90% and 80%. Best ROM I've ever used.

updating to gingerbread does not make it unrootable it just means you need to use a different method,
you can flash with RSD if you want to try out some other builds though, just do some reading first and figure out how to fix it if you get a soft brick

The Gingerbread OTA will lock the bootloader and probably install the malicious bootloader. We don't have info about the European OTA and the contained bootloader, so we assume that it is the same as the one contained in the USA OTA.
Therefore, I did not wait for the OTA. I indirectly installed the SBF mentioned before (it corresponds to the one I would have gotten with the OTA).
"Indirectly" means that I converted the SBF into moto-fastboot images and the radio into a radio-SBF image.
In this way I have the old, unlocked and not dangerous bootloader plus the new system, webtop and radio. It is safer in this way.

Yes but first unlock the bootloader, then try the UK retail but don't flash the SBF! You should convert it to moto-fastboot images (plus the SBF-radio) and install them. It should work well in France, but try it by yourself

Regarding update to Gingerbread:
Never install the Gingerbread OTA if you want to hack your phone and you don't have experience doing it. The OTA may contain a malicious bootloader that hinders further hacking. Quite sure it contains it. For sure, if you install the GB OTA and flash a Froyo sbf, it will brick the phone. It is still possible to install custom ROMs after the GB OTA, but it is better to manually update your phone instead of doing the OTA.
I am not sure about what happens if you just flash the original Motorola Gingerbread over your official Motorola Froyo. Fur sure it will work but I think that it will install the malicious bootloader
Rooting is always possible, it will never brick your device. Since you're a beginner, give a read to the beginners guide. It also contains rooting/unlocking instructions
Can anyone tell me if its possible to use US roms like the Alien ROM reviewed by a user called Zedomax on YouTube? I'm from the UK.
